chukzyblingz:How exactly have the Igbos concocted lies or distorted Ika history? I am all ears. No, Emeka Esogbue sees himself as an Anioma man, nothing more and nothing less, he is amongst the deluded few out to create an Anioma ethnic nationality out of Western Igboland, he is strongly Igbophobic as with all those who seek to create new ethnic groups in the 21st century, and he distorts history to project an edoic one, while subtly suppressing the Igboid ones. Osita Mordi on the other hand is not just pro Igbo, he is A proud Igbo man and does not believe in the push for distinct Anioma ethnicity out Western Igboland, unlike Esogbue, Mordi has a good grasp of the history of the history of Igbo clans in SE and understands that unlike what myopic peeps like Esogbue thinks, SE just like Anioma also is heterogeneous in origin and not a monolithic region. Mordi presents Anioma history as an Igbo man he is, with no bias, he seeks to find links between Anioma towns and SE, while at same time acknowledging the Edo, Igala and Yoruba( as seen in Odiani clan) influences in Anioma region. The difference between him and Esogbue is as wide as the difference between Light and darkness. I am not surprised that you see proudly Igbo proudly Anioma the way you see it, it's the Igbophobia in you speaking. |
Former Super Eagles captain, Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha displayed his sense of humour the Nigeria Young Professionals forum in Lagos where he joked about him and Kanu Nwankwo's Ibo accent. Jay Jay Okocha who is now the Chairman of the Delta State Football Association made the remarks while addressing President Goodluck Jonathan who was present at the forum. "Your excellency, I think I don't have to say much because politics and football have something in common; there are played in the open field and I think your success story speaks for itself, " Jay Jay Okocha said. "I want to say something about patriotism. My friend Kanu (Nwankwo) and I are the only ones that played in Europe for almost 40 years and came back with our Ibo accent. If that is not patriotism, I don't know what that mean," Okocha joked. http://pulse.ng/sports/football/jay-jay-okocha-former-super-eagles-maestro-jokes-about-his-ibo-accent-id3594097.html Of course, Okocha considers himself Igbo, only few non entities in Enu ani who feel they can lay their life failures on the feet on the SE deny themselves, successful Enu ani people, who are in the majority are all proud Igbos, it's in the gene, Igbo equates success. |
The minister said: “There is something ethnic and I am going through it now. If you check on the internet there are articles saying that Okonjo-Iweala has gone ethnic but I believe in merit and competition and I don’t really care what part of the country you come from as long as you can do your job and that has always been my tenet. So, actually Igbo don’t find that I am that convincing because I think in Nigeria, we need to have a culture of merit. But by the way, when you think of merit and competition Igbos don’t do badly and that is a problem, we do rather well. Somebody said everybody in the financial sector is Igbo then they began to list people like the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Director-General of Stock Exchange, Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission, Director-General of Debt Management Office, myself and Sovereign Wealth Fund. “Of course, they said because I am Igbo the person in charge of Sovereign Wealth Fund is also Igbo. He won completely by open competition and merit and the other top person there, Mrs. Stella Onyejekwu, got the job completely on merit. We should be proud of the president because despite of everything he insisted that merit prevailed and that those who got the job should be allowed to take it. The president should be commended because there was so much pressure on him. I said to somebody could you check the employment history of some of these people when they were saying that everybody in financial sector is Igbo because I am there. They got there independently on their own merit and most of them got there before me". http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/im-not-pursuing-any-personal-agenda-says-okonjo-iweala/144947/ Ofcourse,Ngozi Okonjo Iweala considers herself and her Enu ani people Igbo, and this has nothing to do with her being married to an Umuahia, after all I have not heard Dieziani call herself and her people Igbo simply because she is married to a man from Anambra state, she remained Ijaw. |
Viewflux. That you don't know that Elenwa Elemchukwu is one and same person, let alone knowing that he was the late Eze Egi, Eze Ogba Ukwu, speaks alot about your poor grasp of the subject you are dabbling into and you still want me take you seriously? |
All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr Dakuku Peterside has described the late Eze Egi of Egiland in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Kingdom Elemchukwu Elenwa as an epitome of courage, peace and justice. Peterside made the remarks at the burial ceremonies of the late king at Akabuka in Egi kingdom. According to the APC chieftain, the virtues of fairness, impartiality and fearlessness characterized the Eze’s life during his reign. He said the passage of the respected king is a loss, not only to Egi people but also to Rivers State and all lovers of peace and justice all over the world. The late Eze Elenwa, Dr Peterside added, spent most of his time on the throne fighting for the good of his people. “He lived sacrificially and believed that justice and peace must go hand in hand. Today, he is remembered and appreciated for leaving a lasting legacy”. He therefore charged the people of Egi not to despair but to remain united and to always be guided by truth, love for one another, desire for unity and all the good things that the late king stood for. The burial ceremony of the late monarch was attended by people from all walks of life including the representative of Rivers state Governor, Emma Okah, Chief Godspower Ake, Honourable Asita, APC deputy governorship candidate, among others. In his remarks, Chief Godspower Ake paid glowing tribute to the late monarch whom he described as a man that was not afraid of anything except God. He said the late monarch during his life time, was ready to pay any sacrifice for truth, justice and peace. Ake also commended former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for giving fulfilment to the several decades struggle of the Egi people. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/eze-egis-death-loss-to-rivers-says-dakuku/ |
chukzyblingz:You are deluded! Firstly, you believed to know more about Enu ani than a custodian of Enu ani culture like Obi of Asaba, you dismissed Utomi continual association with Ndiigbo as a political move on his part, lol, and now you are projecting Anioma voice international as the official facebook of Anioma people ![]() I am a member of both Anioma voice international and Proudly Anioma proudly Igbo pages. Anioma voice international has a membership of about 10,000, while proudly Igbo proudly Anioma has a membership of about 11,000, I wonder which of them is more influential. While Anioma voice international is anchored by strongly Igbophobic elements like Marcus Enudi- Ukwuani, Emeka Esogbule( who used to be pro Igbo not long ago but became rabidly Igbophobic recently for personal and selfish reasons)- Enuani, Gloria Adagbon- Igbanke and Smart Ajaja- Ika. These individuals are also mostly pro APC and had polluted that group page with Igbophobic comments and articles, prompted Some Igbos in Anioma that are tired of constantly arguing with them to defect to proudly Igbo and Proudly Anioma that is Anchored by Pro Igbo forces of Chukwuneku Samuel- Ukwuani, Osita Mordi- Ika, and myriads of Enuani voices too many to single out a single individual, including Iganke voices too. Anioma voice international has too many Ukwuani and Ika members, who are mostly Igbophobic, giving the page a strong Odour of Igbophobia, while Proudly Igbo proudly Anioma has too many Enu ani voices who are mostly Igbophilic, and of course with many SE Igbo members, and few Igbophobic Ukwuani and Ika elements who come to cause problems there from time to time. We know these things, so you don't come here to deceive the gullible ones. |
zuchyblink:I wouldn't put it past the Edoic and Yoruboid impostors to pull such off. But the truth remain that there are strong Igbophobic voices in Ukwuani and Ika. I see him, even though he could be an impostor, as an opportunity to clear up some of the issues surrounding the identity crisis in those parts of Western Igboland. |
chukzyblingz:Most Enuani people? You are a comedian, you know that. Who are those Enuani people? Okocha is proudly Igbo, Okonjo is proudly Igbo, Utomi is proudly Igbo. Show me a prominent Enuani person that denied being Igbo? I have Iselle Uku inlaws, my in-laws are proud Igbos likewise my cousins there, never for once did they pretend being any thing else. I bet you wish the Enuani shares in your identity crisis. Ndo. |
But I am supposed to take the words of Chukzblingz over those of Obi of Asaba. ![]() |
You have been active in the politics of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo to the extent that people from Anioma are not comfortable given the fact that the Igbos of the mainland are not sympathetic to the Igbos in the diaspora. Some of their leaders still believe in the philosophy of the Igbo union of excluding their kiths and kin outside the Igbo heartland. Is it because you are the monarch as represented in term Ohanaeze or that Ohanaeze represents the aspiration of the Igbo speaking people of Delta state? I think this perception doesn’t have any real foundation. I know that there are some people across the Niger who believe that even though we speak Igbo, we are different kinds of persons. That our attitudes and our beliefs are different. There are many on our side too that disagree with attitudes of the Igbos in the East . But these are not in keeping with our own beliefs and attributes and therefore, we are not one. But we are the Igbo speaking, have our history that we migrated from that side, our language, we understand it, but we are a broader people because after the igbos here, you have the Urhobos, the Ijaws and so on and to the North, we have the Igala people and the Hausa people. So in that sense, we are a border people and so we have been subjected to more influences than those in the heartland. So there are bound to be differences in the course of our history. Nonetheless, I can say that the whole thing you are seeing is a wrong perception of a few. If it was a correct attitude or perception, I don’t think the Igbos will accept an Anioma person to be the head of Ohanaeze, if you know, the present head of Ohanaeze is Ambassador Ralph Uwachue, an Anioma person. Before that, the secretary-general of Ohanaeze was Chief Achuzia, an Asaba man. So that perception that you say, although it exists, does not portray the true feelings and attitude of the Igbo leadership. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/05/i-was-punished-for-defending-the-customs-of-my-people-prof-chike-edozien/ |
The chairman of the lecture, Obi Edozien (The Asagba of Asaba), re-emphasised this point: “we Igbo people are one. We must stop fighting over irrelevancies and emphasise the essential.” This point arose out of the tendency among Igbo people to regard some groups as not “real” Igbos on basis of dialectal differences. . It also exists in the form of clearly Igbo- speaking people with Igbo names and cultural patterns declaring themselves as “not Igbo” but ethnic minorities. This is very rampant among Igbo groups in the South-South zone who believe that by so self- declaring publicly, they would be more acceptable among the real minorities and allowed to take their places as ethnic minorities. Experience has, however, shown that this self-delusion hardly ever produces their desired results. Whenever the push comes to the shove, the real minorities remind them that they are Igbo people who are out to take what belongs to the minorities through the back door. This phenomenon was evident in 2006 when former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State (who loved to call himself a “Rivers man,” as if Rivers State is a tribe) was running for president. Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark openly declared Odili an Igbo man, arguing that the South-South president that the minorities have been agitating for was not meant to go to “an Igbo man.” Given this situation, there has been an increasing shift of paradigm. Many Igbo groups, especially in Delta State, have decided no longer to play the masquerade. The Obi of Asaba, Professor Edozien, actually laid out conditions he believes will cement Igbo unity permanently. Obi Edozien then called on the people of the South-East zone to support the creation of Anioma State and another for Igbo-speaking people of Rivers State to make for seven states, all of which will be lumped together in one zone or region. http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/main-square/28995-asagba-asaba-why-some-igbos-denounce-their-heritage.html |
chukzyblingz:There are proud Igbo people all over Anioma, including Ika and Ukwuani, Osita Mordi is a proud Igbo man from Igbodo in Ika. Identity crisis is a problem of Ika and Ukwuani and not Enuani. You as an Ika man can only speak for Ika, and not for Enuani. You can't know more about Enu ani than Asagba of Asaba, who himself is a proud Igbo man. Stop peddling lies here. |
chukzyblingz:Ika is part of Anioma, but your Igbophobic stand is only shared by Ukwuani and not by Enuani( Aniocha and Oshimili) people. So if you are going to go Igbophobic, I'd suggest you fly under your Igbophobic Ika flag. Anioma was created by an Igbophilic proud Igbo man from Asaba in Enuani, to serve as a point of unity for Igbo speaking people of the defunct Midwest. It would not be used for Igbophobic agenda by identity crisis plagued psychotic beings in Ika or Ukwuani. You are better off using your Ukwuani and Ika banners for such mission and pray that proud Igbo sons of Ika and Ukwuani extraction, don't rip your banner to pieces. |
Which igbide people? You and your befuddled great nuncle? Is that an excerpt from any official igbide peoples union website? orhue!!! And when an official Igbide people's website was provided to him, he started looking for a journal, a thesis ,a peer review http://www.isokonewyork.org/history.html . How hilarious can it get? I guess it was Igboid that forced Igbide people in Newyork to write about their Eastern connection, and they need to prove to lord BraniaX how they arrived at such conclusions. I'm yet to see Ohanaeze Ndiigbo or Any Igbo organization reach out to Igbide, to the Igbo, if you don't speak Igbo related dialects as first language, you are not Igbo, Igbide doesn't speak an Igboid dialect and if they didn't start writhing their history of migration from Igboland, no Igbo man would have suspected them of having Igbo roots. |
chukzyblingz:Who are you to speak for Anioma? Upon which authority do you stand to make such proclamations. The map we are currently looking at on this thread was provided by a Caucasian woman married to an Anioma man, Uche Isichei. On the scandinavian countries, good a thing you used the Word COUNTRIES. Are the Igbo and Anioma in different countries? Do the Scandinavians in Denmark, Iceland, Norway,,Sweden, Finland, Greenland deny the fact that they are same people, even though in different countries with each eager to protect it's own dialect as a language? Moreover, I understand that you are Ika, please learn to speak for Ika next time, and not hide behind Anioma to drag my Enuani relatives into your identity crisis psychosis. |
If only Ikwerre Igbo denial can stand on its own, if only Ikwerres can boldly come out and say: " See it's true we previously , wholeheartedly and without compulsion or subjugation were Igbos and truly accepted the Igbo tag, we nolonger wish to be Igbos from 1970 onwards due to some events we wish not to dabble into now, It is our personal and group conviction that the interests of our people, which includes our political and Economic interests, are currently better protected in a distinct new ethnic group away from our parent Igbo body. We wish that our Igbo brothers accept and respect this our new conviction and stance." There won't be problems. The problem is that Ikwerre see it as a necessity to doctor Igbo history, which they were part of, and to assassinate the Igbo image, as a means of establishing their new found ethnic group. And this is why there will continue to be this argument over and over again, with all the animosity attached and even hatred creeping in from both camps. I had highlighted some of the bold face lies and falsehoods upon which current Ikwerre identity denial were built upon, which the average Igbo man would always refute and tear to shreds violently. And because the very foundation of Ikwerre quest for distinct identity is built on those lies, it becomes near impossible for an Igbo to refute those lies, without it appearing like he is attacking the Ikwerre quest for distinct identity. This creates an illusion of the Igbo forcing Ikwerre to be part of the Igbo nation in the eyes of the ignorant onlookers not knowledgeable on the underlying issues in discourse. When in actuality, the average Igbo don't give a rat ass over whatever identity the Ikwerre had chosen for himself,as such matters are trivial and inconsequential in the larger scheme of things for the Igbo nation. |
Nigerian colonial history records that the name "Ikwerre" was given by the colonial administration when they wanted to acquire the Rebisi waterfront to build the wharf. Using an Ibo interpreter to talk to the illiterate Rebisi (Port Harcourt) chiefs, they asked them: Would you permit us to use the waterfront to build the wharf for ships to berth? And they answered: A KWERULEM , meaning - "We have agreed." What the white-man was hearing was "Ikwerre," so he recorded it in the official gazette that the IKWERRE PEOPLE have agreed for the colonial administration to build the wharf. And since it was the official record of government, the name Ikwerre became the name of the Iwhnurohna people in all official documentations till date. https://www.nairaland.com/1878784/brief-history-ikwerre-port-harcourt Lies! Lies!! |
Professor Godwin Tasie noted that in 1913 the Rt Rev Herbert Tugwell, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, undertook an experimentation tour of Ikwerre towns and villages assumed to be Ibo-speaking to test the Union Ibo Bible Nso being introduced in Iboland. "Tugwell discovered from the tests he carried out that although the Ikwerre were often regarded as Ibo… the Union Ibo Bible translation, surprisingly, was not easily understood by the Ikwere." This is obviously why Igbo vernacular was compulsorily introduced and taught in all schools in Ikwerreland before the Nigerian Civil War to the assimilation (i.e. destruction) of the Ikwere language. This also obviously led to the Rumuomasi Declaration in 1965. " … Lies! |
fombadi:Lol! Your ignorance is a joy to watch. It didn't occur to you that Uche Peter Isichei, Elizabeth's husband, is an Anioma man. The same Anioma you are arguing are not Igbo, are now Igbo just to discredit Elizabeth's work. Can't you see that you had shot yourself on the foot? ![]() |
fombadi:This Urhobo man. So after I decimated your useless thread here: https://www.nairaland.com/3205601/10-interesting-facts-delta-state/11#47315701 your previously latent Igbophobia is now on hyperactivity? But like a coward, you decided to do that under this your moniker and not with your known moniker. ![]() The Eastern part of the map is covered. Now on the Western Igboland. This is a colonial documentation on the Western Igboland written in 1914: http://archive.org/stream/anthropologicalr04thomuoft/anthropologicalr04thomuoft_djvu.txt I will let Ikechukwu handle your madness. ![]() |
HopeAtHand:The Igbo union bible did not fail only in Ikwerre, everyone within the Igbo group had to adjust to it. The Izzi have their own Izzi bible today. No, the British are meticulous people, they knew the subtle differences between groups, if Ikwerre were not Igbos or even showed any iota of resisting the Igbo tag in the colonial era, they would have gotten a distinct entity from word go! The British didn't need to turn Ikwerre into Igbo for easier governance, if that was the case, they would have converted smaller groups like Ogoni and Andoni to Igbo too. The British were so meticulous that they noticed that the Isoko saw themselves as distinct people from Urhobos, hence didn't lump them together but instead tagged Isoko "Igaboh" and Urhobo " Sobo", they were that detailed. All linguistic studies done on Ikwerre had failed to distinguish it as a distinct language of its own. Ikwerre as a dialect forms part of the Igbo dialect continuum. A study done on Ikwerre dialect showed that Ikwerre had a cognation score of 81.63% with Onicha dialect, I am sure that the score will reach 90% and above, if done with Ohaji/Egbema dialects, in place of Onicha. |

Egi is intelligible to Ndiigbo, I know this for a fact. You can put this to a test by writing in Egi right here and right now, and get your translation. Ogoni are Igbo neighbors and have traded with Ndiigbo too. Same with Andoni and Ogbia, Andoni has many loan Igbo words because of this, but the structure of the language remain non Igboid, but is rather Ibibiod. Andoni interacted with Ijaws, and their language have come to have many Ijaw words in them. Andoni is said to be a Ibibiod with Igbo and Ijaw impurities, Ndiigbo can't understand Andoni and we know they are not Igbos, so you don't hear us saying that Andoni are Igbos, even when they have Igbo influences, for Example Uche Secondus is an Andoni man with an Igbo first name. Is it not the same Egi where Eze Egi , Elemchukwu Elenwa hailed from? Is his name nolonger an Egi name, yet intelligible to Ndiigbo. All parts of Ogba speak dialects intelligible to Ndiigbo, because they have been Igbo speaking from the beginning of time and not because of any inter relationship between them and other Igbos. Igburu-awarra people who though are Ogba people, but are in Imo state confirms this. On the Ikwerre part, the central Ikwerre languag is intelligible to the Igbo man, interior ones are less intelligible but that also is obtainable in Igboland, where most Igbos will struggle to understand the interior dialects of Izzi people in Ebonyi. Even my Online Ikwerre friends told me that they also struggle to understand interior Ikwerre dialects, even though they are Ikwerre, yet a careful study of those interior lects show that they are totally Igbo in structure, but with few non Igbo loan words, retained too many extinct proto Igbo words or have bizarre tonations attached to what would otherwise be regular Igbo words. Ogbu nu Abali literally translates to "He that kills in the night" in Ikwerre dialects. This is not open for debate. Please, stop dabbling into issues your are ignorant of. |
BraniacX:You seriously need a brain transplant Surgery, a Goat brain will be an upgrade to what you currently have. "The ancestors of all the clans in Isoko migrated from Benin with the exception of Igbide, Okpolo/Enwe and Umeh in Isoko South LGA and Evwrheni, now in Ughelli South, which came from east of the river Niger, i.e. the present day Anambra, Bayelsa and Rivers States. They came through the river Niger to Isoko creek (a tributary of river Niger) near Patani, and advanced inland to settle in their present sites. Umeh ancestors came from Onya on the river Niger (opposite river Nun, a tributary of river Niger) and came through Isoko creek near Patani and advanced inward to settle on the banks of Isoko creek where they are at present. There was further movement of Owhawha ancestors from Igbide in Isoko South LGA to settle in Jeremi clan, Ughelli South LGA". http://www.isokonewyork.org/history.html Now crawl back to where ever you came from. |
Abagworo:I don't give a rat asss about what Ikwerre or any other deluded Igboid groups think about themselves, but all I care about is history and Igbo image. The Igboids will not be allowed to doctor history we shared with them to their pleasing and use such to tarnish the Igbo image all in an attempt at forming New ethnic groups out of themselves. All their lies and history distortions will be dissected and exposed as lies they are for the world to see. Nothing is wrong with their quest for distinctiveness, they have the right to assert their distinct nature, but they have no right to doctor shared history with Igbo and even go as far as creating lies against the Igbo and assassination of Igbo image to achieve their aim. This is the point that must be "violently" drummed into the ears of the Igboids. |
viewflux:Kalabari and Okrika are like Ogba and Ikwerre, while Kalabari and Okrika are Ijoid, Ogba and Ikwerre are Igboid. You can't compare Kalabari with Ijaw, you can only compare them to Ijaw groups like Nembe in Bayelsa and not the entire Ijaw. You can only compare Ogba and Ikwerre to Igbo groups like Ngwa, Enuani, etc, and not to the entire Igbo nation. Your use of Spanish and Italian languages to compare the Igbo and Igboid groups show your ignorance, for a start, Spanish and Italian languages all descended from the old Latin language of the Roman empire that reigned over those parts of Europe and are rooted in Roman empire imperialism, hence they are called Romance languages. At no point did the Igbo colonize Ogba or Ikwerre people and administered them using Igbo language, like the Romans did in Italy and Spain and Portugal at any point in history. Ogba and Ikwerre were not the only groups in Eastern region, the Ogoni, Andoni, Ogbia, are smaller groups than Ogba and Ikwerre but non of them are Igbo speaking today, yet Ndiigbo traded with them for years too, So the lies of Igbo forcing Igbo language on previously non Igbo speaking Ogba and Ikwerre in Eastern region or Ikwerre and Ogba becoming Igbo speaking because of pre colonial trade with Ndiigbo cannot stand the scrutiny of facts. Usomini, Igburu and Egi dialects of Ogba are all totally mutually intelligible to an Igbo man with good grasp of Southern Abia and Imo Igbo dialects. No, it was named Umuokoro because it was written in central Igbo and not Ikwerre dialect, and Rumu is same as UMU as both means " Descendants" or "children", House in Ikwerre is "ORO" and not "RUMU". It was the policy of the Eastern region to name major roads after major towns in the region. If you come to Aba, we have PortHarcourt road, Brass road, Opobo road, Aba- Owerri road, Ikot Ekpene road. That a road In PH was named Owerri road means nothing. On the Ogbu nu abali part, I learnt the land belongs to the town's of Oro Ogbum ( House of Ogbum) and Oro Abali( House of Abali) hence Ogbu nu Abali( ie Ogbum and Abali) for the land shared by both towns Even in Ikwerre, Ogbu nu Abali literary translates to "He that kills in the night". All in all, I can confidently say that your are ignorant of the issues you attempted to dabble into here. |
If the Jan 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup then give us a list of Igbos killed by the coupists and make sure it is as long as the list of Yorubas and Northerners killed by them. That no foremost igbo politician or army officer was killed was not by sheer coincidence. It was an igbo coup. Fact! What do you mean by " Igbos according to Zik had been destined by God to dominate Africa, and not Nigeria, you have comprehension issues"? Is Nigeria not part of Africa? You have problem with Geography. Well the coup was an AG Awo masterminded coup here is why: The coup plotters said the aim of the coup was to enthrone criminal called Awo. Fact! The coupists ended up eliminating two of the Awo's arch enemies in Akintola and Balewa, coincidence? I don't think so. Awo had a history of one failed civilian coup before Jan 1966 and another one during IBB regime, he had the coup antecedents all over him. You see? Two can play this game of conjectures and extrapolation. I don't see other Africans having problem with that Zik statement, accept Yoruboid and Edoic beings, hence the need to put things in perspective. |
It was political witch hunting. They were convicted criminals, yet Zik was so unprincipled to later seek UPGA alliance with them even while they were still serving the jail terms slammed on them by the very government Zik was part and parcel of. So Zik sought alliance with criminals indicted by his own government after appending his own signature to their jail order documents. Then what was Zik himself? Even Ojukwu too later sought support of the same "criminals" in his quest for freedom from Nigeria. Then something was wrong with Igbos. The order by Gowon which released Awo also released Enahoro who was not in an Eastern Prison. So your arguement is invalid. The NPC-NCNC evil coalition between Balewa and Zik sent Awo and Enahoro to jail. Stop trying to remove NCNC from it. Zik signed all the documents that pronounced Awo's jail term and Enahoro's. If Zik was not in support of the NPC's jailing of Awo and Enahoro, then why did he not resign from the government in protest? Truth of the matter was that Awo and Enahoro were found guilty of treason charges, by a civilian court of justice. Events that led to Awo's death later, would support this treason charges. Politics is a game of numbers, Awo and Enahoro, though convicted criminals were revered by their people and commanded massive fellowship, the aim of a politician is to win and not to pronounce judgement on who is criminal and who isn't, this is called pragmatism. Saudi Arabia is a kingdom that stands against almost everything USA preaches, yet they are US ally, this would explain why the North was eager to forgive Awo of his crimes and Ojukwu was willing to do the same, it's pragmatism. If Yorubas and Edos revere criminals as leaders, and you want Yoruba/ Edo support, then you have no option than to work with those criminals, your working with the criminals speaks more about the depravity of a nation that revere criminals as leaders than you that is more than willing to work with the criminal leaders to achieve an aim. That's why it's a coalition, Zik is required to sign them, but that does not in any way mean that it was his idea or that he was the one carrying them out. Your slave induced passion to ignore Awo's true enemies in Akintola and Balewa and hold unto Zik is at best funny. ![]() Why should Zik resign? Did he send Awo to commit treason? Awo dug his own grave, there was nothing Zik could have done for him. Zik did the best he could for Awo by pleading for him to be imprisoned in the East to save his life. |

Zik the the best he could for Awo by pleading for him to be imprisoned in the East to save his life. |
Deadlytruth:Akenzua remain an ineffectual buffoon, I only brought him up in the discussion to show his role in the present one Nigeria. He is a non entity, I only know him because I'm a student of history, millions of Nigerians don't know who he is, putinghim on same sentence as Zik is an insult to the person of Zik. Again stop tagging along a non existing entity "SS", was Nzeogwu the same man that plotted the so called Igbo coup, not from "SS"? How can Ndiigbo be tagging along SS when Ndiigbo are south south? The only ones licking people ass are your inconsequential minority group in Edo, who are not known anywhere outside Edo, show me where Ndiigbo attached to your inconsequential minority ethnic group in Edo state? It will be an insult to slaves, calling your Edo group slaves, as even slaves have known names, you group doesn't, you remain inconsequential and insignificant, deal with it! Even GEJ an Ogbia man was more than happy to attach to Ndiigbo, he publicly took the name Azikiwe, and declared that Ndiigbo were thebedrock of his administration. I didn't hear him say anything about your inconsequential Edo group. The deal is that Aro confederation gave the British empire more resistance than your mushroom village empire of Blood and gore could. Nri was a religious kingdom, never forced its power on any group, but was rather consulted by groups on religious and spiritual matters, comparing it to your mushroom village empire is an insult to sanity. Funny, Herbert Macaulay was a Sierra Leonian that saw himself more as a Lagosian than a Yoruba. Zik maintained the detibalized nature of NCNC until Awo formed AG and systematically lured the Yoruba elements in NCNC into AG by appealing to their tribal allegiance to Yoruba. Lol, Zik had no Influence on the Mid west formation yet it was an NCNC Igbo man, Osadebey that emerged the premier of the New region, this must be a miracle. I guess it was the useless Oba of Bini that was influential in Midwest formation, perhaps you forgot to tell us that it was the inane Enahoro who had his mouth deep in Awo's ass, and fought against Mid west freedom from the Yorubas, that was influential in mid western secession. The COR would have never survived a democratic vote, the willink report showed that, if you believe that the willink report was Igbo influenced, then provide us with evidence backed rebuttal of the summation of the report, there is currently a thread on that. The "report on ground" grammar is you accepting that you have no proof for your lies, but nevertheless will continue arguing for arguments sake. The British even during the war from their intelligence report found out that only 1/3 of the Eastern minorities would have voted against Biafra, which was the exact reason Gowon turned down all options for UN Supervised plebiscite Ojukwu offered to him during the war. So on this COR issue, you are fishing on shallow waters. Make a Yoruba man our first Premier? Are you sane at all? Did any Yoruba man contest for the premier of the Eastern region? How many Yorubas lived in the East to even think of contesting for political posts, I will ignore the rest of your ranting here as that of a bitter man from an inconsequential ethnic group suffering from rabid form of Igbophobia and hence incapable of rational thoughts. Yes, Igbanke felt that by staying in Edo, they could carve a niche of their own out of the Shadows of Agbor, little did they know that you Edo leeches will capitalize on their presence in Edo to spread you imperialism over them, yes! They are crying to be reunited back with Agbor in Delta North. No, Ogbemudia is not an Igbanke man. He is a Bini Man with maternal lineage in Igbanke. Edos voted for him because he is an Edo and not an Igbanke. Moreover, Ogbemudia was the governor of Midwest and later Bendel state, and not just Edo state. And why should Ojukwu resign? He mustnt resign to show disapproval of Ironsi policies. The other military governors didn't approve of Ironsi either, but non of them resigned. Afikpo Muslims are very minute and insignificant and even as of today are segregated by the mainstream Afikpo people, they are for all intents and purposes social misfits. And as of the era in discourse they are insignificant in number to make an impact even in Afikpo, Islam is considered anti social : www.informationng.com/2012/08/an-ibo-muslim-scholar-declares-his-challenges-being-a-muslim.html Muslims are less than 5% of Afikpo population and are less than 0.05 % of Igboland population, being a Muslim is still considered as social deviance in Igboland and Igbo Muslims are often looked down upon by the Igbo society at large. Comparing this scenario to that of Yorubaland where Muslims constitute 60- 40% of the population and Edoland where they dominate in an entire senatorial zone( Edo North) is at best a desperate attempt at winning an Argument. There is nothing like Islamist North, North was North, one North. Awo went into alliance with the North ie UMBC, it's as simple as that. Your introducing the Islamist North and Non Islamist North into the discussion is at best childish, it's a known fact that the July 1966 coup was a Northern coup driven by the Hausa-Fulani North with Murtala as a kingpin, Gowon was merely an arrow head brought in later, Gowon wasn't representing the middle belt, he represented the aspirations of the "Islamist North" as led by the Hausa-Fulani, and Awo had no problem allying with him. This your whole Islamist/ Non Islamist submission is a non starter. Politics is politics and is all about winning. Awo was a rabid Igbophobic being, yet he courted the Igbo for votes in 1978, when he felt the Igbo would be holding grudges against the North for the war, with Awo himself having been dumped by the North. Zik seeking Awo's hand in 1964 or not is irrelevant to what happened earlier and why Zik left Awo in the Lurch for the North, Zik also sought UMBC hand. On the contrary, Akintola was sent to the North by Awo to broker a deal, not knowing that Awo was equally looking at striking a deal with the East too. Akintola was of the opinion that a deal with the North was better for the West and was angry when he learnt that Awo's treachery caused the deal to break down, and Awo was left forming a deal with the less influential UMBC, Akintola blamed Awo's treachery for the weakening of the Yoruba race and their slip out of central relevance, and from then henceforth Akintola felt that Awo was no longer good enough to anchor the Yoruba ship and started working towards replacing him. Awo working with UMBC led to instability in the North and the North had to pay him back in his own coin, and in Akintola, they found a willing tool in that regard. Akintola was right in blaming Awo treachery for the loss of Yorubas in the first republic, his double game treachery wasted Akintola's mission, even though Akintola was sent on that mission by Awo, if not for Awo's treachery that was brought to the knowledge of the North,Akintola would have sealed that deal fast and Zik and Ndiigbo would have been the ones left in the lurch. Sorry, I see no superior logic in your presentation, what I see is straw clutching. Gowon never had the ultimate power,he lived in the Knowledge that he was living on borrowed time, he was a water carrier of the Hausa-Fulani junta, and lasted as long as he kept doing their bidding. He was ousted when they felt his job was done. It was a simple matter. Murtala always had the ultimate control of the "boys". Enahoro and Awo were released because the core North needed a southern alliance to stop Biafra, it was more of a strategic move than an emotional one. Your insistence at dragging Zik into the criminal and treason case of Awo and Enahoro is pathological. Akintola and Balewa were the ones that had direct issues with Awo. Akintola for the sake of personal ambitions, Balewa for the sake of Vendetta on Awo's instability inducing alliance with the UMBC. The Tiv riots occurred between 1960-64 and the NPC leaders blamed AG led by Awo and Enahoro for the events that led to that. |

fombadi:Ignoramus! Does the Asaba man look to you like a descendant of slave? Is Asaba on a different contingent from Onitsha as America is from Africa? What New identity does Asaba now have? Western Igbos? Midwestern Igbos? Bendel Igbo, Delta Igbo? Do you now know more about Asaba than the traditional ruler of Asaba who currently heads Igbo traditional rulers council and a grand patron of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo? Your Ignorance is beyond human comprehension, What different dialect are you talking about? What do you know about the SE and the myriads of dialects there to make such submissions? You deserve a brain transplant Surgery, your current one is dead! You mean that Nzeogwu's coup was a Midwestern coup, and no longer an Igbo coup, since Nzeogwu was an Igbo from Mid west? Keep deceiving yourself, your wise ones like Prof Itsay sagay and his co travellers, know that Asaba is an Igbo city. Asaba is the only city in the entire SS where the street lingua franca is Igbo and not pidgin As a Nigerian, you can live in Asaba if you feel like, but you will be silly to think that Asaba is not an Igbo city. |
