The hate on Asaba and Enuani people for retaining their Igbo identity and refusing to wallow in Igbo denial is real here. See wailings from peeps. Ukwuani is being patted at the back for their perceived anti Igbo stance, with mischievous folks suggesting that an Ukwuani capital would have been more tolerable to them than an Igbo Asaba capital. Well, thank God man is not God. Enuani held unto their identity and Chukwu abiama blessed them beyond human envy, that not only do they host the capital city of Delta, they have the highest number and quality of human resources in Delta state. Let me tell you, Asaba is going to become more Igbo in the next decade, as Onitsha is greatly expanding to become one city with Asaba. More and More Igbos from the East are moving into Asaba, and we had since relocated the nollywood from Enugu to Asaba and Asaba is getting better for it. The influx of Igbotraders from Onitsha to Asaba, as well well as industrialists, have seen the value of real estate in Asaba skyrocket, and it can only get better. Many Onitsha traders, business men and bankers now live in Asaba and work in Onitsha. |

Deadlytruth:Akenzua was an inconsequential buffoon, he didn't prevent Igbo secession, he was amongst those that convinced Gowon to not keep to Aburi terms, Gowon was already power drunk, all he needed to hold unto power was any conviction from any quarter. Even a Goat could have been able to convince Gowon. Akenzua was and remain a nobody, only Bini people know him. Lol! Yoruba influence over him was because both him and his people are meant for eternal servitude that will surely continue in Arewaoduanistan republic, It was NCNC under Zik that masterminded Mid western separation from the Western region because of the cries of Western Igbos, and we ensured a mid western Igbo in Osadebey became the first Premier of the New region, even though the western Igbos were not the majority there. The COR movement could not survive public vote in non Igbo areas of the East, only disgrunted few non Igbo politicians were pushing for it, the mainstream non Igbo Eastern politicians and traditional rulers as well as the people were well carried along in the East. THE COR could only be created by a military fiat, it wouldn't have survived a democratic referendum. There was a report by the colonials on this situation, the Wilkins report, I will Post it here and another British report during the War that supports this. Sorry to disappoint you, the Igbo are not dictatorial like your Yoruba brothers, at a time Awo was rallying his Yoruba troops to stop the emergence of Zik in Lagos, A fulani man was already the Mayor of Enugu. The Igbankes in Edo that live with you and that feels the full weight of Bini imperialism, don't revere you, they are seeking for freedom from your despotic reign in Edo. I had already posted the article on that here. Anybody can write anything they like, being Igbo or not, does not in any way stop it from being right or wrong. The circumstances surrounding the post Jan coup is different from those of Post July coup, Ojukwu was brought in by Ironsi, you wouldn't expect him to object to Ironsi decrees, that's the chain of military command. The British didn't have to reinforce anything. The first official attempt by British to capture Bini was a total success in a matter of days. The other earlier attempts were by British subjects and not by the British empire. The crux of the matter is that the Aro put up more resistance to the British empire than the mushroom Bini empire of Blood and Gore did. Lol! How can't you be talking about Awo choosing the Christian UMBC, when we know that half of Yoruba itself is an Islamic enclave? You make it sound like Awo had preference for Christians over muslims Awo was left with no choice but to form an alliance with UMBC, after his treachery to play both Zik and Balewa failed. He was left in the lurch and forced to work with whatever was remaining, which UMBC represented then, it had nothing to do with principles, Awo was a power hungry politician that was eager to kiss the devil for power, during the 1979 elections he was left in a similar lurch again and had to pick an Igbo vice, it wasn't because he loved Igbos, far from it, rather political permutations beyond his control forced him. Awo in anger for being left in the lurch by the core North would later start scheming to wreck the North through UMBC Tiv elements, leading to Tiv riots, for this reason, the NPC singled Awo out as an Enemy that must be crushed, that was the beginning of Awo's travails. Gowon was not representing the Middle belt Post July coup, he was a figure head of the Hausa-Fulani oligarchy, the kingpin was Murtala Muhammad, he was the one the troops were subservient to, Gowon was a rubber stamp, Awo was not that stupid not to know that, so the picture of Awo, the Christian middle belt loving politician you are trying to paint is a non starter. Again, it wasn't Ndiigbo that jailed Awo and Enahoro, your repeating it one million times will not make it true. Awo and Enahoro were jailed after they were found guilty of treason and corrupt practices by a Yoruba civilian justice. They were marked for death by the Hausa-Fulani controlled NPC for their role in trying to break the North through their UMBC activities and their attempt to stage a civilian coup of Balewa government. They(Enahoro and Awo) were convicted CRIMINALS. They were nailed by the North and NPC, leave the Igbo man alone! Right before Aburi, Ojukwu never recognized Gowon's authority over him, the entire war was all about Gowon forcing Ojukwu to recognize his authority which Ojukwu never did. Gowon couldn't release anybody from Eastern prison without Ojukwu's approval, you have no point. Moreover, it was the North that sent Enahoro and Awo to prison to start with, even though Awo and Enahoro through their corrupt practices, made it easy for NPC and the North. Enahoro and Awo were CRIMINALS the core North under NPC wanted out of the political arena in the Western region for their sins of trying to destabilize the North through the AG-UMBC alliance( the Hausa-Fulani Oligarchy indicted AG led by Awo andEnahoro in the Tiv riots that wrecked the Northern region and threatened her unity) , and plans to overthrow a Northern government, and were jailed by the North. And you feel that it's diplomatic on the part of Ironsi to release such CRIMINALS? What type of message would he have sent to the then bloody thirsty North with such actions at a time tempers were running high in the North? Zik under NCNC aligned with the North after Awo was found guilty of treachery of playing both NCNC and NPC, Awo himself allied with the remnant of the North in UMBC after he was left in the lurch by Zik and NPC, your trying to justify Awo's AG alliance with the Northern UMBC by calling them Christians is at best funny, as we know that half of Yoruba is an Islamic enclave and Northern Edo is an Islamic enclave too. Awo simply missed out on aligning with NPC due to his treachery. Why did Zik align with the North( NPC?) well I could as well ask, why did Awo align with the North( UMBC) there is only one North after all, the one North that resisted and delayed independence. The Jan 1966 coup was not an Igbo coup, fact. Igbos according to Zik had been destined by God to dominate Africa, and not Nigeria, you have comprehension issues. |
onepluone:What's the name of your ethnic group? |
Dude looks to have added fat. Is that not pot tummy that I am seeing there on him. It would appear he used this break for Ngwori, rather than improving his physical fitness and skills. He better watch it, before he goes the way of other once promising young talents that never developed into the great player the world was waiting for them to become. |
oladipo322:Too bad that Morocco is not an AU member. |

A supposedly Igbo thread invaded and derailed by Yorubas out of envy and bitterness. Ikegwuru! |
It's in every innocent uncorrupted Igbo heart, it's in the air we breathe, in the food we eat , th earth we walk and farm on, it's in the lips of the Birds in our lands, they sing about it, it's in the winds that blow in own lands, the trees here bear witness to it, the streams, the rivers, in Igboland all flow to it's rhythm, it's in the very first cry of a newly born Igbo child , on the last breathe of the now dying war veterans,it's here. |
Chai! So Conte no fit take Italy to the semis of Euro, and he is supposed to win the EPL with Chelsea? Btw, so finally, Germany is yet to beat Italy in a competitive match, as yesterday's match was officially recorded as a draw. By the way, what if I tell you that France will be crowned Euro Champions for 2016, Will you doubt me? |
fr3do:Nwa Ika, Kedu. You have been scarce. |
asha81:I disagree with you on this one, Mazi Chino. The entire Imo state must not be made to suffer for the sake of a man whose loyalty is more to his Ikwerre people than to Ndiigbo. Reason am well, nwanne. |
Is Abagworo even an Igbo man? I think contrary to what he says here,I think his Mum is from Oguta, whil his Dad is from Ikwerre. Let's not denigrate Imo state for the sake of an Ikwerre impostor. |
Abagworo:Maka Chukwu, you need an e- slap to format your brain. Which one is Igbotic building and not yet Uhuru? You want us to be building those type of dilapidated bungalows and public yards that litter your Rumu slums in ObaLGA? And why are you trying by all means to instigate an Onitsha vs Abakaliki dick measuring contest here, I swear, I can now see why Chino hates you this much. Chino please, ignore this attention seeker, lets not derail this wonderful thread for our Ebonyi brothers. |
It's this balogun and his wards that are usually the one Nigeria chanting Igbos. Shameless people with no self esteem, disgracing themselves. Balogun Ike nsi. |
greggng:See reasoning o! |
Hmm, I hear say Hazard no fit save Belgium yesterday. Country people, how una reason the matter? |
"The earlier we understand that for now Nigeria is one indivisible entity, the sooner we will start with mapping out plans to making Igboland great again". I strongly disagree agree with the above statement. Nigeria is not indivisible, no Man made entity is indivisible, we are just not being strategic enough in our plans, we are not hitting the hammer on the right places, this, current IPOB and MASSOB strategy has to be changed in its entirety, as it will lead to nothing other than loss of more innocent Igbo lives and failure. Neither IPOB nor MASSOB did their homework well, you can't pass an exam without doing your homework. Igboland is represented at all stages of governance in Nigeria by Igbo "rulers"( politicians) who are strongly pro Nigerian and anti Bia****, this is the first homework IPOB and co failed to solve. This should be the foundation of their struggle, yet it's being ignored. Things don't exist in isolation, they exist on each other, you don't build castles on the air, there must be a strong solid foundation. This was how the Scottish pro seccession groups were able to get referendum out of Britain. A pro independent Scotland Scottish politician in Alex salmond was pushed to the very pinnacle of Scottish political power. Is there no lesson for MASSOB and IPOB to learn from scotland? Or are they just interested only in ventilating on RB and sacrificing their lives sheepishly on the streets of Igboland, at the hands of trigger happy armed Nigeria security agents? Where is the tact, pragmatism and strategy in this their movement, cos currently I see none. |
SlayerReborn:Brother, I know that it's frustrating, but that's the nature of these people, and it can't be wished away, it must be accepted. They don't see Igbos in SE as brother, they see us as neighbors with potentials of metamorphosing into their colonial masters, and nothing you do or say will change that their perception. I know that this reality is hard for an average Igbo man to accept, but it is how it is. Our numbers scare the hell out of these people. If you put them into the proposed struggle, they will compromise it and set us up to Nigeria, and even use us to negotiate better deals from the Nigerian government, in exchange for helping them frustrate our exodus, they will do this without blinking of an eye or showing any remorse, because they don't see you as anything other than greedy coverteous neighbors. Unfortunately, many Igbo youths are not aware of this reality of things, they are just so annoyingly naive and too innocent for such a serious venture they are embarking on, no one took time to investigate these things and advise them better. Let them( the minorities) be in Nigeria or do whatever they want with themselves. Let's plan our struggle without including them in our plans, let's put heads together and come out with better ways to prevent another repeat of that events of 66-70. |
Proudlyngwa:The thing has no standard spelling. Each of them keeps spelling it anyhow they want. I have seen them spell it as Iwehurohna, Ihuruoha, Iwhurnohna, etc. Funny thing, most if them are embracing the Iwhnruohna stuff because they believe that Ikwerre is too Igbo sounding, little do they know that Iwhnruohna ( IhuOha ie face of the people, ) is even more Igbo sounding. One of them told me that the correct name of "Rumuokwuta" was "Amanweke" that it was Ibos in the Eastern region in attempt to make the town an Igbo town that renamed it "Umuokwuta". And I started imagining if he even if he even knew that Amanweke sounds more Igbo. The ignorance of these people is astonishing. |
SlayerSupreme:The average Ikwerre is not pro Bia***. You can take this to the bank. His mindset towards the Bia*** issue and the Igbo reaching out to him as a "brother" is exactly the same as the that of the Ijaws man that I described earlier. Yes, there are pro Igbos amongst them, I recently added one of them to my friend lists from their page, but they are in the minority. |
SlayerSupreme:Yes it is. |
onepluone:I have since passed the stage you currently are. You are being emotional, I am being a realist. The picture I painted is the true state of things. Sweeping them under the carpet helps no one. We have to tell ourselves the truth, only then will our redemption come. |
I have a feeling that this thread would soon end up in tribalism section or outrightly deleted. |
SlayerSupreme:The Northern parts of Cross rivers will be easy. But the southern part will need lots of consultations and public enlightenment. And that is not happening for now. IPOB have not done enough home work in these places, any call for referendum in the SS right now will producing a shocking result for Ndiigbo. Unless IPOB have made up their mind that they are working for a nation of just SE, Oshimili,Aniocha, Ndoni, Egbema, Oyigbo,Northern Cross River groups ( even this one is not a given), then they must stop this call for referendum and get to work. This time around, not on just radio, but on ground. But this will be hard with the Nigerian security agencies ever ready on hand to arrest people at such gatherings. This is a difficult situation. I doubt if these freedom groups have sat down to analyze these issues carefully, if they did, then it's not showing in their actions. |
Emancipation:Yes, Igbo freedom groups have to do more. I understand that it is easy for me to sit in the comfort of my home and job and criticize their modus operandi, I understand that it is not easy to put one's body on the line. I mean, these guys have been giving up their lives willingly for this vision. But maybe, being in the field of play beclouds their judgement of situations, maybe some of us spectators can see one or two things they are not seeing. And maybe our criticism is not because we just want to be armchair analysts, maybe it's because we want to see them win. And we don't see victory with their current approach to things, what's worth doing is worth doing well. Something has to give way. |
You see groups of people stay in their rooms and start saying things like Igala and Idomas are "Bia****". And you start wondering these? 1. Have these persons actually taken their time to assess the general feelings of the average Igalas and Idomas towards the Igbo and the Bia***** identity 2, Have these persons taken time to make consultations from the leaders of Igalas and Idomas towards the Bia**** identity 3. Do these persons not know that it is outright insult and provocation to the leaders and people of Igalas and Idomas for them to sit in the comfort of their rooms and start assigning alien identities to them without first consulting them. 4. Do these persons not know that this approach will make for a difficult consultation in the future as the people could already have become strongly Igbophobic due to these provocations and outright disregard to rules of proceedings? These are the many things wrong with the current Igbo self secession agenda. The agitators assign themselves the title of messiahs on a mission to deliver other non Igbos groups neighboring Igbos, and go about a messianic mission of chanting to whoever that cares to listen, stories of how those people are being marginalised by Nigeria and why those people are Bia****. This is really pathetic and has to stop. |
SlayerSupreme:Exactly. There is this ignorance on the part of average Igbos, of the sentiments and deep seated Igbophobia amongst minorities in the deep south. And groups like IPOB are not doing enough to bring this to the knowledge of Ndiigbo, neither are they doing enough to work on those sentiments, they just want to live in fools paradise by pretending that those sentiments don't exist, while they go about drawing imaginary maps and deceiving themselves and millions of innocent Igbos back at home. I am disappointed in them( Igbo freedom groups) , and I have decided that until they recognize this very fact and take measures to educate the average Igbo youth about these hates emanating from the deep south, as well as fashion ways to correct some of those perception amongst those people through community based awareness and discussion programs, I will no longer support them. The Igbophobia in the deep south stinks to high heavens, and if not addressed we will only be repeating history should we continue to agitate for self determination, as the Igbophobia of those groups would serve as a very good fertile grounds for our would be enemies that are hell bent on repeating 1966-70 events all over again. |
onepluone:Peep like you are setting the Igbos up for a high jump too high that we will trip on it, with your emotional views and ways of thinking. You need to be pragmatic for once, and learn the ways of the world. You see the Ijaws as brothers, the average Ijaw man sees you as a greedy neighbor that is out to annex his lands, take his oil to delvelop your own " dry" lands, impoverish him and even believe that you have it in you to relocate him from his lands and replace him. He sees Nigeria as the only thing keeping you in check from carrying out the above plans, which he believes you already had mapped out in your secret Igbo meetings. And you are asking him to jump out from Nigeria( even though Nigeria is not fair to them) and jump into a bed with you, with Nigeria gone to give her protection from you carrying out your plans on her. This is his mindset, your calling him a brother doesn't change this his view of you. That view is what you have to work with, you can't wish it away by drawing phantom maps and including his lands, (infact those maps to his already fixed mind is an evidence that you are out to take his lands from him). Your only option is to accept this reality, only then can the real solution to it come. |
I am all for Biafra. But I believe that currently, a Republic of Igboland consisting of only "Igbo speaking proud" Igbo groups with the door left open for selected Igbo groups to join us is feasible. And truly speaking, I prefer an Igbo only speaking nation to any other arrangement, but I wouldn't mind any arrangement that will include friendly non Igbo speaking Igbo neighbours, especiall the Akwa Ibom and Cross River groups. |
