Ndiigbo can be accused of having a pathological thirst for acquiring lands in any foreign land we find ourselves in, but what you can never accuse the Igbo of, is forcefully taking lands not his from indigenous people.

The Igbo man knows the value of land more than any other Nigerian group, but his culture is not built on expansionism, so he makes the most fair offers for lands and landed property, so good an offer that the owners will never reject. As a matter of fact, as individuals, no one will make a better offer for your land than the Igbo man, he is often the first person sought out for, when indigenous people want to sell. their lands.

Below is the Oba Akenzua Igbophobic summation on the Igbo man in 1965, the important point of this his rambling that I want to highlight, is that part he admitted that the Igbo man would always make you an offer for your property, he takes none of them by force.

"The Igbo philosophy seems to be “money maketh a man” and the Igbo man is prepared to sink to any level or scale the
highest mountain to get money…No job is too menial for the Igbo man
...I think there are two main reasons why “the Igbo are everywhere.”
First, as I have stated, the Igbos will go to any length in search of money and since they are more willing than any other
tribe to do any type of work, no matter how menial, they are ready and cheap source of labour everywhere.
Another reason for their migration… is terribly overpopulated by its 12 million or so inhabitants, so that the Igbo is
constantly on the move in serch of a place to stand in.
While I admire the Igbos for their energy and industry, their insatiable desire for money makes me sick.
…I have stated elsewhere in this narrative that the Igbo does not believe that any kindness can be gratuitous and would
doubt your sincerity if you were prepared to do any favour for him without demanding or accepting a consideration.
As a matter of fact the Igbo man makes the offer before he begins to ask for the help he seeks. This remarks should,
however, not be taken to mean that there are no honest people among them.
There certainly are, but by and large, the average Igbo man seeks gain from whatever he does.
…One common charge against the Igbo is that if you give them an inch they will demand (and quite often take) a mile.
An Igbo man in search of residential accommodation is prepared to pay rent for even your kitchen store. Within a week of
his moving in, about half a dozen “brothers” come to “visit” him; within a fortnight more of them arrive. He then pleads
with you to allow them temporary accommodation in the house but soon they have become permanent and taken every
available space in your house.
There would be nothing wrong with this if they remained as tenant. But the sad part of it is that before the owner knows
what is happening these tenants are dangling money before his eyes for the purchase of the house itself or the adjoining
land.
The money comes to hand quite easily either through concerted efforts or some wealthy “brothers” or the tribal union,
and overnight the owner of the house becomes a tenant on his own land.
In like manner, they have surreptitiously ousted “nationals” of the other regions from their market stalls, from their
shops, from the rubber plantations and other forms of human endeavour. One may say, it is the stupidity of the other
people.
Is it any wonder then that some other regions in the federation entertain fear of possible Igbo domination?
IT IS TO BE HOPED THAT THEY DO NOT BECOME LIKE THE JEWS , objects of castigation and contempt for their industry
and adventurous spirit".

Oba Akenzua, 1965.

If Ndiigbo can possess 73% of the lands in Abuja, a place where we have no power over, and years after we lost everything in Biafra and had to start afresh, then imagine how much more the powerful pre Civil war Igbo could have acquired in Abuja or even anywhere else.

It doesn't take a soothesayer to know that all the lands Ndiigbo acquired in PH were fairly and legitimately acquired from the government of the day, which only happened to be Igbo dominated and from the indigenous Ikwerre people of PH who were more than eager to sell their lands at a fair sum.

It's sheer wickedness on the part of Ikwerre elders who sold these lands to Ndiigbo and who didn't have the money to apply for land from the Eastern government because they were too lazy, to turn around after the war, and start accusing Ndiigbo of unjustly taking their lands from them, simply to justify their agenda of dispossessing the Igbo man of his hard earned property, because he was rendered weak by a civil war loss, so much that he couldn't protect his interests anylonger.

el-Rufai: Igbos Own 73% of Abuja Land From Chuks Okocha in Abuja, 05.21.2007 The Minister in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai over the weekend declared that Igbos have acquired about 73 percent of landed property in Abuja. The Minister, who was addressing a gathering of Southeast elected officials also revealed how the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmadu Ali abused him for demolishing his house in Asokoro District in Abuja. Speaking on a lighter mood, el-Rufai called on the Igbos to take Abuja as the sixth state of the southeast in view of their dominance of the real estate sector of the FCT. He pointed out that such dominance explains why the Igbos appear to have been the worst victims of the demolition exercise in the territory. For instance, he said “68 percent of the land allocations in the FCT belongs to the 19 northern states, but in actual land ownership, 73 percent belongs to the Igbos with the most aggressive in land ownership belonging to the indigenes of Anambra state, while Ebonyi lags behind.” He also spoke of how the master plan of the Wuse market was distorted from 1800 lockup stores to a near aberration of 13,500 stores, which made movement in the market to become almost impossible. He attributed the land ownership by the Igbos in Abuja to a measure of confidence that they have in the FCT project. The Minister also attributed the rapid transformation of the city of Abuja to the Orkar coup of 1991 which forced the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida to quickly quit Lagos. He explained that this singular action of the Babangida regime made the dream of Abuja as a seat of government to become real. However, el-Rufai said that the most drastic decision that affected the total transformation of Abuja as a seat of government was the directive in 1996 by the regime of General Sani Abacha to transfer all federal ministries to the FCT. Isnt it way too coincidental that almost all houses from PH mainTown upto old GRA, DLine, Mile 1-3, the PH of old were owned by Igbos? Almost all C of O's showed Igbo ownership in a multi-ethnic Eastern regional society??

Do the maths..ive said goodness begets goodness.
Perhaps, with the way Igbos are buying property in Abuja, tomorrow the Gwaris would start making up stories of how the Igbo now own all the lands in their area.

If you can show me evidence of instances where a non Igbo man in the East applied for C of O for a land in the Eastern region and was turned down because he was non Igbo, then I would concede to your point, but as it stands, non of that happened.

Ndiigbo had always understood the importance of land ownership where ever they find themselves, so much that if left unchecked they will buy all your lands, and at a fair price too.

All lands owned by Igbos in the East, they acquired legitimately from the owners or from the government of the day. If you have facts to prove otherwise, present them here.

The Ikwerre parents, in a bid to cover their own inadequacies, made up lies against Ndiigbo and passed down these lies to their naive children, and today those lies have germimated and grown into fruits of rabid Igbophobia in the hearts of their youths. And since Actions and reactions are equal and opposite, once exposed to the rabid Igbophobia of an average Ikwerre youth, an average previously innocent Igboman instantaneously develops a profoundly rabid hate for Ikwerre people and all things they stand for.

This is the lesson we can all learn from this thread, Jokwaanu!

13. “The question of land was repeatedly raised, it being resented by the Efiks and Ibibios that the Ibos should acquire land at all in their territory while the methods by which it was obtained were also questioned. There is no doubt that on the Ibo Plateau there is insufficient land for the people and the Ibos ate thrusting outwards where possible they acquire land and use it either for cultivation or building…..This is a matter which will require legislation sooner or later and it will be delicate to handle, but the economic process is in itself healthy and we had little sympathy with a witness who remarked that there is much undeveloped land in district and he was anxious that it should not fall into the hand of the Ibos….We believe that Governments in Nigeria should be careful not to try to protect minorities by introducing measures that would restrict development.”
14. “A group of miscellaneous grievances and charges against the Ibos from Calabar may be treated together; we were told that the Ibos did not observe local customs in the markets….We formed the impression that jealousy of the Ibos successes in the markets was the main factor.”

Take a good look at the last sentence of this particular report.

11. “It was further suggested that loans by the Eastern Regional Finance Corporation, the Eastern Region Development Board, and the Eastern Region Development Corporation were made with some degree of preference to Ibos. It did appear that most of the loans made by these bodies were to Ibos, but that is not to say that this was necessarily improper. Ibos constitute two thirds of the population of the region and have a bigger share of financial and commercial responsibility than their numbers warrant.”
12. “That there should be modern streetlight in Onitsha, and not Calabar, was also quoted as example of discrimination; it proved however that Onitsha Urban District Council had financed this measure from their own resources.”

You see what I am talking about? Onitsha urban district Council out of it's own IGR generated from Onitsha built a Street light, and bam! These people attribute it to Eastern region and insisted than one must be built in their areas or else it will amount to Igbo marginalization. As if anyone stopped them from generating their own funds and building themselves their own street lights.

One of the minorities in deep south, told me that the Eastern region neglected his own part of the East and rather concentrated on Enugu.

I told him that Enugu generated Coal, one of the main stays of the Eastern region revenue and was self sustainable on its own. It wasn't built with resources generated from non Igbo lands, as Palm oil Another mainstay income of the East was abundant in Igboland and Enugu region in particular.

9. “In the Police, which in this region alone is wholly Federal, the number of Ibos in the higher appointments is not out of proportion to the Ibos in the region. The force is now federally controlled and although there are a large number of Ibos in the lower ranks, this is due to the fact that it has for long been a tradition among the Ibos to offer themselves for recruitment in this force in far greater numbers than any other tribe.”
10. “we noted that in five years, 1952 – 1957, from a total of 412 secondary scholarships, 216 were awarded to persons living in the COR areas, while the figures for post-secondary scholarships were 211 out of 623. The latter is about the right proportion of one-third, the former considerably in excess. It was suggested that scholarships awarded to non-Ibos were of an inferior kind and that the best scholarships went to Ibos, but we were, unable to see that this claim held any validity. On the evidence before us, we conclude that the allegations of discriminations in the matter of scholarships are unjustified.”

Look at the percentage of scholarships awarded to the Igbo and the minorities and see that they reflected the percentage of the groups in the region.
This is important, because I once had a heated argument online with an Etche person who told me that each time he looks at how educationally backward Etche is, in comparison to "Igbo"( he probably thinks the SE is a monolithic group), his Blood boils and the hatred he had for the SE increases, and that this is why he will never accept being an Igbo man.

That his father told him that Igbos hijacked the entire scholarship programs in the East, leaving his people with none, and that is why they are relatively educationally backward as compared to SE.

You can see how their father's lied to them to cover their laziness. His grandfather was probably too lazy to farm to make enough money to send his father to school, rather than admit his laziness and advise his son better, he absolved himself of all blames, and blamed the Igbo man instead.

Many Igbos who went to school those days didn't go through scholarship as the slots were limited, they went through family and communal support programs. Their families sacrificed alot to see them through school and their communities had education taxes on all indigenes of the community, aimed at supporting their sons schooling, some others were sponsored by their local churches.

It was family, communal and church sacrifices that saw Ndiigbo have many of her sons in the university, at a time the families in deep south and their communities knew not the value of education and were not willing to make sacrifices. But they wont accept this fact and tell their children the truth, they would rather lay their failures and inadequacies as individuals and communities at the feet of the Igbo man, it's a much easier thing to do than blame themselves.

THE FEARS AND GRIEVANCES OF MINORITIES
7. “It was suggested (by non-Ibo petitioners) that it was the deliberate object of the Ibo majority in the Region to fill every post with Ibos (in public post and services).….when, however we came to consider specific complaints about the composition of public bodies, we found them in many cases exaggerated or unreasonable.”
8. “The allegation was put forward by counsel (to petitioners) that the Judiciary (when not European) was predominantly Ibo, with the implication that this caused fear among those who are not Ibos. But it was clearly stated in evidence by Dr. Udoma, the leader of UNIP, that no occasion could be adduced of the judiciary acting with partiality. The fact is that the legal profession is largely Ibos and the reasons for this do not seem to be Government action. It is therefore inevitable that there should be an Ibo preponderance among Judges and Magistrates. Further, it is the declared policy of Government that the Judiciary should be federal and this does not indicate a desire to control it. Again, the operation and composition of Public Service Commission here, as in the West, appeared to us in no way open to reproach.”

If you are Igbo, take time and look at these accusations well.

4. The Rivers Province …includes the two divisions of Brass and Degema, both overwhelmingly Ijaw, and the Ogoni Division. The former Rivers Division also includes over 300,000 Ibos of whom 250,000 are in Ahoada Division and 45,000 in Port Harcourt. Port Harcourt is a town of recent growth and of rapidly increasing importance; it is built on land that blonged originally to an outlying branch of the Ibo tribe, the Diobus, but is largely inhabited by the Ibos from the interior who have come to trade or seek employment….Of the total 747,000 in the Rivers province, 305,000 are Ibos, 240,000 are Ijaws and 156,000 are Ogonis.”
5. “The strip to the south of the Ibo block, is physically, divided by a block of Ibo territory, tipped by the important Ibo town of Port Harcourt and tribally divided between the Ijaws and the Ogonis.”
6. “In the whole of this non-Ibo area there is present in varying degree some fear of being over-run, commercially and politically, by the Ibos….. if Ahoada and Port Harcourt, which are really Ibo, are considered with the solid centre of Ibo population, there are 54 seats for the Ibo area and 30 for COR (Calabar, Ogoja and Rivers) in (Eastern Regional House of Assembly).”

WILLINK REPORT 1958 THE FOLLOWING ARE EXCERPTS FROM A THE REPORT OF THE COMMISSION APPOINTED TO “ENQUIRE INTO THE FEARS OF MINORITIES AND THE MEANS OF ALLAYING THEM”, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS “THE WILLINK COMMISSION REPORT OF JULY 1958”

THE HISTORICAL AND POLITICAL BACKGROUND.
1. “More than 98% of people who inhabit this area (the ‘Ibo Plateau’ of the Eastern region) are Ibo and speak one language, though of course with certain differences of dialect. There are nearly five million of them and they are too many for the soil to support: they are vigorous and intelligent and have pushed outward in every direction, seeking a livelihood by trade or in service in the surrounding areas of the Eastern Region, in the Western Region, in the North and outside Nigeria. They are no more popular with their neighbours than is usual in the case of an energetic and expanding people whose neighbours have a more leisurely outlook on life.”
2. “Though there has been no great kingdom or indigenous culture in the Eastern Region, the coastal chiefs grew on their trade with the (European merchant) ships and they adopted customs, clothing and housing more advanced than those of the peoples of the interior on whom they had at first preyed for slaves. They came during the 19th Century to regard the people of the interior as backward and ignorant, and it was therefore a blow to their pride, as well as to their pockets, when the Ibos began to push outwards into the surrounding fringe of the country and particularly into the Calabar area, to take up land, to grow rich, to own houses and lorries and occupy posts in public services and in the services of large trading firms.”
“It was among the Ibos, formerly despised by the people of Calabar as source of slaves and as a backward people of the interior, now feared and disliked as energetic and educated, that the first political party formed.”

Im not im the mood for long grammar, just why do you feel Ikwerre fathers would deliberately want to lie about Igbos to their children, why will they willingly sow the seed of "waryness". Why are people almost involuntarily conscious of Igbos and their nature, why does "Igbo" carry some kind of tag?.. it is simply not for nothing.

Goodness begots goodness, love begots love. Be careful what you sow, cos you will reap abundance in harvest. Basically, it stems from the old Eastern regional govt where the Igbos were the lords of all. If you had treated others right, the will relate to you in right manner, if you had treated them badly, resentment and hate is your harvest.

I don't need to talk much, use Nzeogwus actions where he taunted Hausas in Hausaland by printing a poster on bread to mock them, the Hausas being a major tribe, how much more minorities under the Eastern regional govt.

Parents have a responsibility to their kids to warn them to be wary of certain individuals and activities. It is certainly in their job description, if that bothers you, when you have kids tell them to mingle with all sorts.
If you have any documented evidence of Ndiigbo overlording other non Igbo ethnicities in the Eastern region Post it here.

If you have evidence of Igbos printing Bread to mock Hausas after the Jan coup led by Nzeogwu, post it here. Remember also that Nzeogwu though a bonafide Igbo man was not from the East, but from the mid west.

All the stories your parents told you about Igbos were all lies and non of them are evidence backed. They lied to you to avoid accepting the fact that they were lazying about, when the average Igbo man was toiling in his farm to send his sons to school, get enough money to acquire property and become actively involved in the local politics.

It was all too easy to blame the Igbo man for their woes than to accept their inadequacies before their children and advise them to learn the importance of hardwork and communal spirit in moving their communities forward from Igbo.

The chairman of the lecture, Obi Edozien (The Asagba of Asaba), re-emphasised this point: “we Igbo people are one. We must stop fighting over irrelevancies and emphasise the essential.”
This point arose out of the tendency among Igbo people to regard some groups as not “real” Igbos on basis of dialectal differences.

.

It also exists in the form of clearly Igbo- speaking people with Igbo names and cultural patterns declaring themselves as “not Igbo” but ethnic minorities. This is very rampant among Igbo groups in the South-South zone who believe that by so self- declaring publicly, they would be more acceptable among the real minorities and allowed to take their places as ethnic minorities. Experience has, however, shown that this self-delusion hardly ever produces their desired results. Whenever the push comes to the shove, the real minorities remind them that they are Igbo people who are out to take what belongs to the minorities through the back door.

This phenomenon was evident in 2006 when former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State (who loved to call himself a “Rivers man,” as if Rivers State is a tribe) was running for president.

Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark openly declared Odili an Igbo man, arguing that the South-South president that the minorities have been agitating for was not meant to go to “an Igbo man.” Given this situation, there has been an increasing shift of paradigm.

Many Igbo groups, especially in Delta State, have decided no longer to play the masquerade.

The Obi of Asaba, Professor Edozien, actually laid out conditions he believes will cement Igbo unity permanently. Obi Edozien then called on the people of the South-East zone to support the creation of Anioma State and another for Igbo-speaking people of Rivers State to make for seven states, all of which will be lumped together in one zone or region. Lol! You think you are dealing with insecure people that accepted the non Igbo tag you gave them just to gain your acceptance?

This is Asaba we are talking about, the land of Hannibal of Bia****, Mazi Achuzia who crossed over the Niger to the East to defend the Igbo pride as he inflicted many defeats on Nigerians.

Boy your ignorance know no bound if you think you can play your silly Igbo denial games with Asaba peeps, after the genocide you carried out during the war there.

You have been active in the politics of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo to the extent that people from Anioma are not comfortable given the fact that the Igbos of the mainland are not sympathetic to the Igbos in the diaspora. Some of their leaders still believe in the philosophy of the Igbo union of excluding their kiths and kin outside the Igbo heartland.

Is it because you are the monarch as represented in term Ohanaeze or that Ohanaeze represents the aspiration of the Igbo speaking people of Delta state?

I think this perception doesn’t have any real foundation. I know that there are some people across the Niger who believe that even though we speak Igbo, we are different kinds of persons. That our attitudes and our beliefs are different.

There are many on our side too that disagree with attitudes of the Igbos in the East . But these are not in keeping with our own beliefs and attributes and therefore, we are not one. But we are the Igbo speaking, have our history that we migrated from that side, our language, we understand it, but we are a broader people because after the igbos here, you have the Urhobos, the Ijaws and so on and to the North, we have the Igala people and the Hausa people.

So in that sense, we are a border people and so we have been subjected to more influences than those in the heartland. So there are bound to be differences in the course of our history. Nonetheless, I can say that the whole thing you are seeing is a wrong perception of a few.

If it was a correct attitude or perception, I don’t think the Igbos will accept an Anioma person to be the head of Ohanaeze, if you know, the present head of Ohanaeze is Ambassador Ralph Uwachue, an Anioma person. Before that, the secretary-general of Ohanaeze was Chief Achuzia, an Asaba man. So that perception that you say, although it exists, does not portray the true feelings and attitude of the Igbo leadership.

See this small rat,who are you coming here to form Don for?

Hosted Igbo world day and conference same way Igbo's day was hosted in New York etc etc. You should go to Asaba and tell the government and indigenous it's an Igbo city and see if they won't send dogs after you.

Is it not same Asaba where Igbos where fiercely warned to keep their Baifra madness away from. They where warned not to let their Biafra protest exceed Onitsha bridge.

IPOB boys who couldn't defend them selves and loved ones from commonly Fulani hands men.
Abeggi make I hear word....You and your weak talkative IPOB boys wei dey sweat for yansh.
Lol! Who exactly warned IPOB in Asaba? Delta government? Well they were also warned by the governments in SE, bu they match on.

What indigenous people are you talking about, I dey pity you, if OneNaira6 catch you, your own don be. Come to Nnebisi road here and talk trash, see if you wouldn't be given proper beat down. There is a reason why you lots are not comfortable with Asaba, it reeks of Igbo, Igbo name, Igbo street language, Igbo songs blasting all over the place, Igbo people walking all over the place.

Indigenous Igbo world day is annually hosted by Igbo cities, the one in US is a different one entirely for mainly the Igbo diasporan population.

Why am I even replying your ignorance?

You are a non entity from an inconsequential minority ethnic group.

So Akalaka migrating from Bini means that he was Bini?
A Bini man with an Igbo name Akalaka in Bini, like the Bini names had finished in Bini, prompting his Bini parents to import an Igbo name for their Bini son.

Even with Bini a shadow of its former glorly , the ever proud current Bini people will not give their children Igbo names, but we are supposed to believe that in the ancient Bini, a Bini mother and father gave their son an
IGBO name AKALAKA. grin

Btw have you switched from Ikwerreboy to Ekpeyeboy? Don't you think you will need a new Ekpeye sounding moniker for this your new mission?
