Christianity Etc › Re: Benny Hinn: I Am So Wrong About Prosperity Gospel, I Don't Fly Private Jets by iguita: 11:38pm On Feb 23, 2018 |
10/10... HigherEd: "Meanwhile, Bishop David Oyedepo is planning to add another one to his fleet.
I would tell you that there is little wrong in the prosperity that Oyedepo preaches
1) I have never seen Oyedepo on TV asking for anybody to give to his ministry, schools etc..... Which Benny does.
2) I have seen Oyedepo's car before(the one he drives himself). He has been using the same silver car for about three years or so. While I don't know the model, it is a very average car. Seen his house too and sitting room - very very average.
3) As per jet, Benny does not have 6,000 branched churches, Schools to administrate over, Oyedepo does. Ghana branches of Living Faith alone is 150 scattered everywhere. In one particular month he visited 27 countries hence his ministry requires it not as a luxury but a quick means of transportation. So hey it depends on how large and centralised a ministry is and living faith leadership appears to be very centralised.
4) Oyedepo always talks about the limitations of the prosperity gospel but ppl never listen to that they only pick what they want to pick. Even Kenneth Hagin once conformed that "there is a thin line between the permissible and the objectionable when it comes to issues of financial prosperity".
5) Oyedepo doesn't actually have 150 million USD in his account- he just believes it is an insult to equate the worth of a believer to a sum of 150 million.
6) I have visited all kinds of Churches and I tell you Offerings in WC is just once. Apart from special services.
7) If you like slander Oyedepo for preaching tithe or claim tithing is irrelevant. All I know is that Living Faith pays tithes of Billions to another large ministry in Nigeria every month. It takes a man of conviction to do that.
Now if there is anything that frustrates me about Bishop Oyedepo, it is that he refuses to care about his image or even lies put out there against him. Same for pa Adeboye. See how Joseph Prince quickly cleared himself from the yeye Forbes list. Now I am not bothered that Oyedepo and Adeboye are being insulted or mocked but my issue is how it can easily affect baby believers who are easily tilted. And if major pastors are left to be attacked consistently on social media, it is the root of Christianity that would shake In years to come both the catholics, orthodox and Pentecostals would all suffer for all these unchecked attacks and backbiting within d church.
Lastly as a Christian I won't criticize any other Christian for using a jet because I know fully well that if I had the money and require it then I would buy it. Whatever is unlawful for the pastor is unlawful for every other christian. If a pastor can't be rich then all Christians can't be rich either, if a pastor can't own a jet then no christian can own a jet.
For me, I maintain that a private jet is nothing more different than a private car.
NB: Please don't bother quoting me for slander, if you don't agree just talk your own comot for NL, I no get time for argument till 2am midnite.

Career › Re: Should Your Subordinate's Salary Be Higher Than Yours For Any Reason? by iguita: 10:34am On Feb 14, 2018 |
I think you should be glad you have access to this info. Your MD is a good person for not collecting your resignation. Nobody is indispensable. If you resign, dude will fill your role, get a higher salary (migrating from contract to full staff) and they will employ someone to assist him resulting to lower expense for the company. For the guy to command such salary, he may even be better than you are and may qualify for the office you occupy. Advice? Like others gave advised, stay put. At least you are sure of very good salary increment in 6 months. Remember that if they were going to increase your salary, it will be about 20% but now, you can command 50% to 60% since your subordinate earns 40% more than you. Secondly, up your game so that you can negotiate in six months. Sudokudon: I got this job six months ago in the Northeastern part of the country. During the recruitment process, the recruiter told me the salary range for the job, which I was pleased with. I went for the interview and got the job within the specified salary range. A month after, the firm thought they needed someone to assist me. They found one, and he insisted he cannot earn less than a certain amount which is about 40% higher than my take home pay and this dragged for a while before they agreed to employ him but on a contract basis of one year. Although, he will not be entitled to certain benefits I am entitled to, yet, his net pay is still more than my gross salary.
When the firm saw that I got to know, the HR invited me for an extensive meeting, trying to pacify me. He told me he is just to work for a year and they might either not renew his contract or increase mine if they renew his. That our salary was based on negotiation and was still within the range of what the company can pay. Unfortunately, salary can only be reviewed once in 6 months.
My question is:
1. Can negotiations be arbitrary without a range by the company?
2. Can the firm, just because they want to recruit someone who is best fit for a role, pay the person higher than his/her boss?
3. Why should a company be using your last pay as a basis of what they want to pay instead of solely their own capacity to pay?
I submitted my resignation letter yesterday because I was finding it difficult working with him and because the issue keep haunting me. The MD refused to collect it though, but I am not looking back, I have moved on. I have gotten another offer in principle and I will be meeting with them next week for salary negotiation. I am thinking of the best possible way of negotiation, so that I won't be shortchanged again.

Super true hedonistical: Life is an empty scam. There's nothing in it. Beautiful woman, daughter to an ex senator, works in DPR (a goldmine), married with beautiful young children... Had a perfect life.... And then it all abruptly ends up in ashes (literally) at a random roadside on a random day?
We spend our our days chasing meaningless pursuits, but at the end of the day we die routinely and unexpectedly, leaving all our acquisitions, possessions, achievements, failures, worries, and problems behind. Those who knew us well enough to care about us would shed a tear or two for a day or two, and then we are completely forgotten. On to the next, life goes on... Such a miserable, useless, purposeless merry go round.
At the end of the day, don't take yourself or your pursuits too seriously. Nothing is worth it. |
