Its been eleven (11) days since the Honourable President of the Court of Appeal and erstwhile Chairperson of the 2019 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa. disqualified herself from the Tribunal following the Petition of the People Democratic Party and Atiku Abubaka /Peter Obi legal team. Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Oraye St. Franklyn, has resigned his position.

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, have been given up till May 28 to submit their end of tenure asset declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB.


Governors and other public officers will also keep the same date.

Chief Press Officer of the CCB, Charity Utok, in a statement said the deadline became necessary as their tenure (first or second) in office end on May 29.


She said other public officers, mainly members of the outgoing 8th National Assembly, who were inaugurated on June 9, 2015, have up till June 8, 2019, a few hours to the expiration of their tenure to declare their assets.

Buhari in Abeokuta Holds Crucial Meeting With Amosun

The President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.


Buhari’s presidential chopper NAF 540 touched down at Arcade Ground, State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan at about 10:30am.

Former Vice-President and Candidate of the People Democratic Party PDP Atiku Abubakar on Thursday asked law enforcement authorities to arrest the minister of information, Lai Mohammed.

Atiku Abubakar said Mr Mohammed raised a false alarm about purported plots to sabotage the Buhari administration, an allegation that he had failed to provide any evidence to substantiate.

The opposition leader said Mr Mohammed should also apologise to him and his Peoples Democratic Party to deter a repeat of such unfounded claim that could damage national security.

The Police Command in Enugu state has confirmed the arrest of 140 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within Nsukka area of the state.


The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the arrest in an interview in Enugu on Thursday.

Amaraizu said the IPOB members, who included 130 males and 10 females, were arrested for allegedly organising unlawful procession and display of proscribed items on the streets.

The Senate has raised the alarm over frightening spate of killings in Rivers State.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said that all forms of criminality must be tackled frontally in the interest of the country.

The Senate President recalled that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, assured that insecurity in Rivers State, just like in other states, will not be treated with kid gloves.

The security situation in the State was brought to the Senate’s notice by Senator Andrew Uchendu (River East), who reported the rising spate of killings in Rivers State.

Uchendu, in his lead debate, pointed out that he was aware that the killing of innocent citizens as a result of murder, kidnapping, violence or abduction has been the bane of Rivers State for more than a decade.
