BusinessRe: How Do You Handle Angry Customers? by ikemesit4477: 1:01pm On Nov 21, 2017
Bobugee:
Hello NL,

Please I need your advice. My name is Bob, I own (and work in) a Grocery store where I'm privileged to see and meet different kinds of people on daily basis. Both classic and classless, young and old, fresh and gowdy, overbearing and sentimental... Name it.

Sometimes, we see customers who are always bent on frustrating our lives, ranging from..buying stuffs and threatening to return the goods demanding for a cash refund after the goods might have stayed with them for some couple of days to buying and refusing to pay.

There's this woman, (not really a regular customer) who called and ordered for a full bag of Rice. After we had arranged and supplied the rice, she was supposed to make a mobile transfer to our account, she informed us that she had a minor issue with her mobile App which she was supposed to get fixed before making the transfer.

Being an old cash paying customer, we agreed to part away with the rice pending when she settle the matter with her bank, she would make the transfer, meanwhile she had already have our account number cos she used to buy stuff from us before.

One week slipped by, no response! Two weeks gone, I didn't hear from her. Then I became worried and put three successive calls through immediately after the fifteenth day of the supply to know why she hadn't make the transfer, she didn't pick my calls. I allowed her, hoping that she may call back when she sees my missed calls. As she was the busy type. But she never called.

I became perplexed. Being concerned for her safety as this was unusual. Alas! She was fine, hale and hearty.

The following day, I called again and she didn't pick. Then I subsequently sent a text message informing her that her debt has been marked as an overdue, (After I had enquired for her work, family and life) that she should kindly make the transfer to my account details that was attached below the text message.

Then she replied me almost immediately, telling me to stop bombarding her with unnecessary calls and to stop sending her silly texts, then I should learn how to be courteous when writing to my customers.

Yeeyyy!..... Courteous?, Silly?, Bombarding?, what have those words got to do with my simple, honest and innocent text messagehuh?

Well, having been in this business for long, I have been accustomed to handling antagonism with diplomacy. So immediately as I received her response, I quickly sent her another text message apologizing for "not being courteous on my text" as she put it. But here, I tried to read in between the lines to see where I got it all wrong but I didn't come to term with anything tangible...

To cut the long story short, from that moment I received her text, I chose not to call her again until whenever she made up her mind to pay.

Two weeks after, that was barely a month after the supply, I got a call from her. At first, she asked me why I don't want to give her a breathing space simply because she bought a common bag of rice from us? I was almost getting pissed, but I tried as much as I can and remained very calm but right inside me, I was deeply infuriated that I almost yelled at her.

I apologized again and assured her it won't happen again.( I have already made up my mind not to supply any other thing to her house without making payment upfront)Then she went further and dropped off the missile which was exactly what informed this post...

She said she's no longer buying the rice, that we should come carry it, owing to the fact that the rice is rebagged, half-full and substandard... All these she never noticed until after one full blown month. Jesu! And beside, the Rice I delivered to her house was an original Thailand Rice that's filled to the brim.

I simply said OK and hung the call, promised to call back to(morrow)day.

The question is...

How do you handle overbearing customers and what would you have done if you are in my shoes??

Sombody help!
bros I really appreciate the way you handle the issue, well-done! But For me I don't have such grace, if I try been nice to you and you show yourself i will keep you where you belong, I will advice you to go get your bag of rice, and do away with that kind of customer!

What would make a man want to transform into a dog? This is the question currently inside my head as I write this piece.
A British man, James Carlton spent a thousands of euros to transform into a dog.

We know the westerners (oyibos) like experimenting, but isn't this out of the line? Is looking like a dog worth spending money and taking the risks of going under the knife?

While there has been lots of criticism on transgender surgeries, a bigger one has surfaced, and within a short while, people will emulate.

I fear for my fellow Nigerians, because I know they enjoy copying everything they see on social media.

HealthRe: 5 STDs You Can Get While Wearing A Condom (Disturbing Photos) by ikemesit4477: 7:16pm On Nov 13, 2017
FitnessDoctor:
Hello, guys, it's your favorite health blogger, Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor

Barrier methods like condoms are very good at preventing sexually transmitted diseases by blocking the exchange of genital fluids. They are effective in preventing hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.

The problem is condoms don’t entirely prevent transmission of all STDs because some STDs can be transmitted from skin to skin contact.

It’s very important to get regularly tested if you have multiple sex partners.

Here are 5 STDs You Can Get While Wearing A Condom

1. Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is a common viral STD marked by genital sores and pain.

It usually results in sores or lesions on the upper thighs, genitals or anus. Since some sores or lesions are found in areas that are exposed during condom use, transmission of infection is possible.

Genital Herpes is a very common STD and spreads very easily, it affects more than 1.5 million people per year. Genital Herpes has no cure presently, but certain treatment exists that could help those with the condition.

2. Molluscum Contagiosum

Molluscum contagiosum is a skin infection caused by the Molluscum contagiosum virus. The condition spreads through contact with an infected person or a contaminated object. The virus causes tiny little bumps on the skin. The small bumps usually appear about two months from the time of infection.

Just like HPV this infection is known to spread easily and affects more than 100 thousand people per year in Nigeria alone. Fortunately, Molluscum Contagiosum can be easily treated and resolved within months

3. HPV (human papillomavirus)

Copyright: Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor (realfitbody.com)

HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection globally. It is so common that most will get infected at one time or the other in their lives. It is caused by the human papillomavirus and may manifests as genital warts in some cases. These warts can be found on the genitals; its presence in areas not covered by a condom makes infection easy. Even without genital warts, HPV infection can occur skin to skin.

There's no cure for the virus and warts may go away on their own. Treatment focuses on removing warts.

Over time, warts or precancerous lesions increase the risk of cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, penis, anus, mouth, or throat which makes the virus a big health risk compared to the others.

4. Syphilis

Syphilis is a highly contagious disease spread by sexual activity, including vaginal, anal and MouthAction. Fortunately, syphilis is treatable and has fewer cases in Nigeria than the others (fewer than 100 thousand cases per year).

Syphilis manifests as a round, firm sore. While wearing a condom decreases the odds of getting infected, if the sores are located in areas not covered by the condom, it can be transmitted.

5. Pubic Lice (crab lice)

Pubic lice or crab lice are very small insects that infest your genital area, it feeds exclusively on blood. It is common among teenagers and adults who keep a full pubic hair. The pubic lice are spread sexually by skin to skin contact.

You can also be infected after sharing bedding, clothing and through toilet seats.

Improving your body hygiene by bathing regularly and shaving a lot more can help alleviate the condition, but you should also visit your healthcare provider. Also, use an over-the-counter lotion or anti-lice shampoo to remove the lice and its eggs.

The year is almost coming to a close and its getting closer to that big giveaway of gift and accessories for regular visitors of my blog and all my subscribers. Don't miss out

PoliticsRe: "Ikoyi Whistle-blower Is Mad" - EFCC Says, Takes Him To Psychiatric Hospital by ikemesit4477: 6:15pm On Nov 12, 2017
ChangetheChange:
Taken to Yaba Psychiatric hospital

He has not been paid his N850m reward —Lawyer

JUST like the drama and surprises that trailed the discovery of $43.5 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at No. 16 Osborne Road, in Lagos, the matter has taken another dramatic dimension with the whistle-blower dismissing the claims by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, that he had gone mad

He, however, said he was only disturbed by the failure of the anti-graft agency to pay him the reward for exposing the loot in accordance with the whistle-blowing policy of the Federal Government.

Saturday Vanguard recalls that the government had in 2016 approved a policy on whistle-blowing that aimed at encouraging Nigerians to report financial crimes.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who announced the policy, said anyone, who provided information leading to the recovery of fund would be entitled to not more than five per cent of the recovered sum.

Shouting that he needed his money

Magun had at the 7th session of the Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, said the whistle-blower had become a millionaire.

While puncturing the claims that the whistle-blower had become a millionaire, Galadima said his client had been subjected to unfair treatment despite heeding the call to expose looters.

He said the inability of the commission to pay his client the reward after the forfeiture of the money made him to start shouting that he needed his money at the Department of State Security Service, DSS, apartment where he was kept.

They said he is mad

His words: “The day we went to the office of the then Acting President, they gave him a number that he could reach at any time. So he has been communicating with the Vice- President. Following the threats, they detailed some SSS to be working around him. “Because the guy had always been looking forward to seeing this money and it wasn’t forthcoming, he started shouting. When he started shouting, they said he was mad, that he is having a mental problem.

“The SSS people called me and said I should come and carry my luggage. They brought him to the EFCC and abandoned him there. The EFCC people called me that I should come and carry my client.

‘’On getting to the commission’s office, I was informed of my client’s mental illness and plans to take him to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Yaba.

.

“They injected him and said they have to monitor him for a month. They monitored him for a month. The day they were going to release him, the EFCC called me again to come and carry my “critical asset.

‘’ This was a boy I never knew from Adam. I said ok, I went to the EFCC, the guy said he was ok, there was no problem anymore. They handed him over to me three weeks ago. I pay money into his account on a weekly basis for his upkeep.’’

A letter to the President Galadima further disclosed that he had written a letter to the President demanding that the boy be paid his money.

The letter which was said to have been written on October 12, 2017, partly reads: ‘’While you were away receiving treatment I wrote twice to the Acting President through the office of the Acting Chairman of the EFCC on 7th June 2017 and 24th July 2017 respectively.

Because the money discovered was about N17 billion and not N13 billion that is being declared. It was calculated as at the time the money was recovered.” He, however, dismissed reports that his client would receive N350 million reward, saying that the actual figure was N850 million.

An effort by Saturday Vanguard to get the reaction of the Spokesperson of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwajuren was not fruitful as he did not pick his calls.

However, Uwujaren, in a statement yesterday said Magu never said the whistleblower had been paid his compensation.

But the law says that the identity of any whistle blower will not be disclosed, what of now that his identity has been disclose to the whole world already!

Explorers:
People love the deed, you know that, we know that.

But the truth is some people love it slightly more

It seems that there are places around the globe where people simply have more fun in the bedroom, more sexual partners in a lifetime, more one-night-stands, and a more open attitude towards the 'Game' in general.

Psychologists have found a way to actually measure people’s sociosexuality.

If you wonder what sociosexuality is, basically it’s just a fancy word for promiscuity, and it has been measured by a test administered in several countries around the globe.

Anyway, if you are single planning to go on a vacation, maybe you should double your chances of getting lucky by choosing a place with promiscuity.

It was learnt that some corps member were paid N19,800 four times (N79,200), while some were paid as much as N164,000.

Assalaam alaykum warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh
This morning, I got a report from a Corps member that NYSC has overpaid some youth serving in the scheme. My informant, a serving Corps member was paid 19,800 four times! That brings her total allowee for the month of October to N79,200!!! In fact, a friend to my informant who has just passed out was paid 164,000 instead of 41,000.

Dear brothers and sisters in Islaam, if you’re one of those that have been overpaid by the NYSC, do not think that you have hit a jackpot and divert the money for personal use. No, by Allaah this is a museebah you’ve just been afflicted with. Do not let the Shaytaan win you over. That money belongs to fellow Corps members who are awaiting payment.

Here, you should demonstrate the spirit of honesty, justice and humanity of Islaam by returning the money to the appropriate authorities.

You’re not being smart by keeping quiet about it. The NYSC scheme may not know, but surely Allaah knows!

Devouring the wealth of others unjustly is a grievous sin in Islaam. It’s one of the kabaa’ir (major sins) for which some nations past were destroyed.
Remember…. You may escape from the wrath of the Federal Government, you can’t escape the wrath of Allaah!

“O you who have believed, do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.” (Q. 4:29)

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do you know who is bankrupt?” They said, “The one without money or goods is bankrupt.” The Prophet said, “Verily, the bankrupt of my nation are those who come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers, fasting, and charity, but also with insults, slander, consuming wealth, shedding blood, and beating others. The oppressed will each be given from his good deeds. If his good deeds run out before justice is fulfilled, then their sins will be cast upon him and he will be thrown into the Hellfire.”

Cedarseeds:
Please help I had to create a new account for this.

When I was 15, a man in our neighbourhood had sex with me. I was too confused and embarrassed to tell anyone about it. I didn't get pregnant. While growing up, I still remembered the incident and kept away from dating through out my university days.

I met my fiancé in 2014. Somehow I told him I was still a virgin when we were still getting to know ourselves. He asked me to marry him soon after. It seemed as if the main reason he wanted marriage was because he felt I was a decent girl and I didn't want him to find out after our wedding. I did some stuffs to my vagina and we had sex. It was like the whole process of deflowering again. He seemed satisfied.

The issue is that I feel scared starting my marriage on a lie. Standing before the priest when there's a secret between us. We've done the necessary intro. I don't know what to think anymore. Should I let him continue believing he's the only man I've been with?
I think that's the secret you need to carry to your grave, you better do that to avoid regret, you should be greatful he didn't find out himself!
BusinessRe: The Must Know Taxes For Doing Business In Nigeria by ikemesit4477: 8:15am On Nov 06, 2017
BlueBrothers:
A major source of revenue for the governments around the world is Tax. It is no surprise why governments are keen about the safety and productivity of their citizens, as this translates to more taxable persons. The same applies to companies and businesses, because the more the businesses, the higher the source of revenue for the government.

On the other hand, especially in a situation like Nigeria where people perceive the government is not upholding its obligations; citizens do not enjoy paying taxes. It is always hard to just give your hard earned money away to a government; well maybe you have a point.

The truth however is that paying taxes is not an issue of morality that can be done by choice, rather it is a compulsory legal obligation, failure to remit taxes attracts severe penalties.  So, whether the government is useful or not, taxes have to be paid by all taxable persons or businesses.

For you not to be found guilty in the eye of the law, below are some popular and must pay taxes that apply to almost all businesses in Nigeria, except those enjoying  tax holidays or  businesses that fall into the tax exemption category.

COMPANY INCOME TAX:

This tax, as the name suggest apply to companies, and it is calculated on the profit of the company. Now we know that profit in its most simplistic meaning is expenses subtracted from income. This is why it is said that revenue isn’t the same thing as profit, it is important for every business to know the difference.  However for the purpose of taxes, there is taxable income, because to the taxman, it is not every expense that is acceptable. The rate of a company’s income tax is fixed at 30% of taxable income (a major quality of taxes, they are always fixed at a certain rate or percentage).
This Tax is remitted to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, and it is payable on a preceding year basis. It is very important that business owners secure the help of an accountant to help prepare accounting books so as to have a clear picture of the tax liability for each year, or whatever accounting period used by the company.
Companies in the oil and gas field do not pay Company Income Tax, rather they pay Petroluem Profit Tax

EDUCATION TAX:

For those who attended Federal Universities or institutions in recent years, (no not you from the first republic). Those of this generation will be familiar with many buildings in these institutions having inscription such as ‘Education Trust Fund 2009’. This fund is made available to the Federal government by the companies, and no, it is not a voluntary contribution.  It is fixed at 2% of the assessable income; you can see this isn’t taxable income. The tax man has a way of arriving at different profits, so you should also always seek tax advice.

VALUE ADDED TAX (VAT):

arguably the most popular tax in Nigeria. This tax is paid irrespective of whether you are a company or an individual. This tax is placed on goods and services; the burden of the tax is borne by the final consumer. The way this tax works is such that, for every good sold, or service rendered, it is compulsory to add a VAT at the rate of 5% of sale price. So for example if a good is being sold for N 200, with VAT added it would be eventually sold for N 210. The VAT of N 10 cannot be calculated as a profit to the seller or its business, but would be recorded as VAT to be remitted to the FIRS. VAT is paid by the final consumer, collected by the seller, and remitted to the FIRS. A failure to include VAT, or not declare it is an offense that attracts serious fines and severe punishments.
VAT filing is monthly, and always due on the 21st day of the subsequent month.
There are however some goods that are exempt from VAT, an example is educational materials like books.
You may require an expert to guide you on how to balance VAT output and VAT input for your business, as these determine your final VAT liability.

WITHHOLDING TAX:

A withholding Tax is not a tax you pay, it is just another type of tax you help the tax man secure. This type of tax like the name suggests is withheld by the person paying for a service to the service provider.  For example, if Mr A provides a service to Mr B, Mr B pays Mr A his money less 10% of the agreed sum. Mr B remits that 10% to the FIRS, and Mr A gets a credit note as a receipt to show that he has paid part of his tax liability for the year, and a total of the Tax withheld shall be deducted from his payable tax for that year.
It is a means of ensuring that people pay taxes, so it is an advance form of tax payment.

PAY AS YOU EARN (P.A.Y.E):

this is a scheme by the Taxman to ensure that employees pay their taxes, and puts the duty on the employer to deduct the tax liability of the employees at source, thus the employees are paid their net salary, The employer on monthly basis remits the tax to the State’s Internal Revenue Service, a tax clearance for that month covers all employees of the company.
The PAYE becomes applicable to a business or company with 4 or more employees.

CAPITAL GAIN TAX:

This is not an everyday Tax, it is payable by companies or individuals. This is a tax paid on the sale of an asset. CGT is always fixed at 10% on the profit of the sale. Emphasis on profit, not sale price, so it is important that you learn how to calculate a CGT or employ the service of a person who can guide you.

PERSONAL INCOME TAX:

This tax is payable by individuals or unincorporated businesses. Therefore this type of tax applies to employees, traders, sole proprietors, partners in a partnership, and businesses not registered as companies. It is calculated by what is regarded as direct assessment, and like the company income tax, the tax man allows for some reliefs, but not all expenses, so it is always important to approach a tax expert in computing your tax liabilities.

This is the rate of calculating personal income tax;

First N300,000 of income @7%Next N300,000 of income @ 11%Next N500,000 of income @ 15%Next N500,000 of income @19%Next N1,600,000 of income @ 21%Above N3, 200,000 of income @ 24%.

MINIMUM TAX:

This is a tax payable when a company does not make a profit in a year, or where the tax on profit when computed is lower than the minimum tax that would have been payable by the company. Where the turnover of the company is NGN 500,000 or below, minimum tax is computed as;

The highest of:

0.5% of gross profits0.5% of net assets0.25% of paid-up capital, or0.25% of turnover of the company for the year.

Where the turnover is higher than NGN 500,000, minimum tax is the highest of the calculations listed above plus 0.125% of turnover in excess of NGN 500,000.
It is evident that many start-ups will opt for the minimum tax.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT LEVY:

Now this is can be a real thorn in the flesh, as the local governments can come up with many ridiculous levies and charges like Television and Radio License fee. While the local governments usually pay attention to petty traders and small shops, they sometimes reach out to the Small and Medium –sized enterprises.

As stated earlier, these tax liabilities are mandatory, and many have a period which they must be filed, else you find yourself in default and subject to heavy fines.
There is good news for Tax defaulters; the Federal government has recently introduced the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme as a tax amnesty for those who have been in default of many years to pay the default taxes without any liability of the fines or punishment. This scheme has however been declared as valid for a limited period.

I think government need to do something tangible to its citizenry, something that will motivates someone to pay tax, it is not easy for someone to sit down and brainstorm on the kind of business to embark on, later someone will come from no where to threatened you, telling you what to pay else they will shut down your place, it is not done that way! And the most annoying thing is that there will be coming in different angles!

CelebritiesRe: Sadiq Daba: "I Don’t Want To Be Castrated" by ikemesit4477: 12:10pm On Nov 05, 2017
Babatundepet:
In an industry where the term ‘veteran’ has been bastardised, one man that truly merits that title is actor, Sadiq Daba. Sadly, he is not having the best of times and enjoying the acclaim that a true veteran deserves.

Daba has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This is coming barely months after the actor was hospitalised for months due to leukemia.

Sunday Scoop put a call through to him during the week to find out how he was doing. “Right now, I have a catheter inserted into my penis to ease the movement of urine. I have been in and out of hospitals for a while now. Next week, I also have to go for a biopsy to determine if I would need to do a major surgery. I have leukemia to battle with, then this prostate issue comes in. The pain is just too much for me,” he stated, explaining his journey so far.

“I have been receiving treatment at LASUTH and OAUTH and the doctors have been wonderful. I was told that one of the side effects of the surgery is that my testicles would have to be removed. That means I would be castrated and I don’t think I want that. The other option is that I would have to take injections that would cost N150,000 every two months, and I have to take it for about two years. You can imagine what the total cost would be,” he added.

On whether members of the movie industry have been helpful to him, Daba said, “A few of my colleagues have been wonderful; they have tried to help as much as they can. The DGs of NTA, Censors Board, and the president of PMAN have also been of help. I can’t start carrying bowls and be going all about the place begging for money. I believe I have paid my dues. For those who know about my situation and want to help, they are welcome. Everything that I have to do is tied to money. There is no drug that is cheap.”
