Rossikk: How would you know what is being added to what when your dumb, shitty self has never even set eyes on the remodelling blueprint? How the bloody hell do you know what is being done there? Daft idio.t.You cannot make a silk purse from sow's ear. Blueprint ko, strong bullsh.it ni. |
Rossikk: Only a dumb Nigerian can describe an uncompleted remodelling job as ''shoddy''.And only a seriously dumb and dishonest Nigerian would call the application of lipstick to s.hit that is taking place at MMA 'remodelling'. ![]() |
Venchy: This is why sometimes the conversation on NL reflect the lack of exposure of some people, people are constantly defending indefensible. .............Thank you ojare my broda. Ordinarily, Nigeria's oil revenue is enough to see it at the top end of surveys like this world-wide let alone in Africa. Many Nigerians can't take the truth, that's why they're here defending the glorified poultry shed in Ikeja and its supposed 'remodelling'. Yeye ![]() |
Mr Aboki: Is it poosible, that a gun that falls from a height and hits the floor can malfunction and start firing uncontrollably?! Wether the switch was on 'safe', 'semi-automatic' or 'full-automatic'?sigh.... NO. Remember what I wrote previously. If the safety and firing mode are integrated your man is guilty. If they are separate, he is still culpable for having the automatic mode on. The dead man may have not been hit or survived with one bullet, but an automatic assault?. Anyway, I'm not one for this ping-pong. knock yourself out (but not accidentally ). |
Mr Aboki, I honestly don't have the time for repeated exchanges so I'll be brief in why I think you are wrong. We don't know the exact firearm involved in this incident but any firearm with a selectable firing mode will either have the safety incorporated into the selector or a separate safety catch. The gun went off, therefore either way, the safety was off. Also, a safety catch is a fail-safe mechanism, that means the gun would rather jam than fire. Most mechanical failures in guns are about them jamming and not automatically deciding to kill innocent Nigerians. If we give him the benefit of the doubt on the safety, that the gun kept shooting meant it was in automatic mode. WHY?. |
Mr Aboki: FOOD FOR THOUGHTMr Aboki, I'm not sure what you're defending or even whether you know anything about weapons. Have you ever attended a weapons safety course? Before you lend credence to carelessness and allow a culture of 'accidental discharges' to continue claiming lives, think. For your information, guns don't just 'malfunction'. If the person in charge of the gun is not in a state of alert, why was the safety off? Why was the automatic mode engaged? why was a loaded weapon allowed to be in a position of falling or slipping? No wonder idiotic police walk around with their gun safety catches off in the most unwarranted of places because the average Nigerian will excuse it and mouth the usual 'Eyah / RIP'. ![]() |
Chei!, see my people and reasoning.Accident abi negligence? Are we not talking about a person's life being lost at the hand of a supposedly trained defender of the same life? ![]() |
If anyone deserves to be insulted, it is Mr Kalu who when given the opportunity to improve his state, did f*ck all but sees nothing wrong in having property where those with the same mandate are working to leave a positive legacy |
Mustay: ..........Abdicating our intelligence to foreigners without supervision speaks volumes. Abi o. Giving foreigners free rein in your domain? Yeye country. |
SLIDE waxie: .........even a secondary school students builds solar powers these days.....That, my brother/sister is the million dollar question. Judging by the antecedents, 'clearly not' is the unpalatable answer. It is just another display of idiocy by the Federal Goverment of the Giant disgrace of Africa(ns). @dollarjunkie, you missed the point entirely but we won't give up on you yet. ![]() |
Chinom: Well, an American once fought his deportation from Nigeria. So did the Choudry brothers (Indians). Many Lebanese and Indian Nigerians would never swap Naija for any other country.Do you think the Lebanese, Americans or Indians were fighting to stay for the love of Nigeria and Nigerians or for the crap they can get away with in Nigeria but nowhere else? ![]() |
MAKABBEY: . ...... Nigeria will soon become a joke to other nations...Soon ke? Soon abi already? ![]() |
@akanniade, congrats. The panel setup looks very professional. The battery bank looks good too. What the ah rating? |
idnoble135: [/color]@idnoble, I think you mean well, but to use colonialism or the relative length of the adoption of democracy as an excuse is being insincere and hiding from the truth. The closest equivalent country is Malaysia and look at what they've achieved as Nigeria squander wealth, natural and human. There is absolutely nothing to celebrate. |
@abunafiu, well done and congrats. . Which controller did you choose in the end? and I hope you've secured the panels against the wind. |
bodejohn: This mppt charger to the best of my knowledge is good. I have would have picked two of it in march if not for my botched trip to the Chin** land. It can work with 12, 24 & 48v battery configuration. Although i think the 3 communication links is too much and may also be responsible for the high price.@abunafiu, I have two of these and I chose them on the bang per buck appeal, spec, and my communications with their support techies. Also, I wouldn't buy from reseller if I were you, I'd go to the manufacturers for all the support it entails. Send me your mail and i can put you in touch with them. They do an equivalent without all the interface too if you don't need the extra bells and whistles at a cheaper price. @bodejohn, the word 'chin**' is as offensive to them as nigg** is to us. edit @abunafiu, I've not used the chargers in anger yet as I'm still awaiting the arrival of my panels, so I cannot comment on their performance but I did choose them based on everything that goes before actual usage |
zetdee: You misunderstood, I said I personally saw the scourge of aids in my country in positive light, because most people practice safe se.x and are more educated about se.x due to massive education campaigns, therefore less unwanted babies and reckless behavior.@zedtee, you're crediting everyone on this forum with sincerity, but stupidity and mischief abounds. You must learn to ignore most responses. ![]() |
jayboskie7: .........Air condition.......@jayboskie7, bodejohn can answer your questions but I'd advise you to forget ACs. Think more of fans. Energy conservation is a large part of the switch to renewable energy. ACs will drain your system. Have you noted the power ratings and the length of time your want to run each equipment you've listed? Bodejohn will need that to answer your question. |
earthrealm: ok i saw anothjer cheaper 30amp mppt charger abt 35k.but am alittle confused abt the items in red.the optimum operating voltage of the panels is 31v, so am assuming its a 24v panel. i just want to buy 2 units now and hook them up in parallel, but am thinking in the future, i wud want to buy 2 more panels and hook them up in series/parallel...giving me a 48v system.@earthrealm let me attempt an explanation of the confusing terms: Nominal system voltage refers to your system voltage (largely driven by your battery configuration). 12v, 24v, 48v and 96v nominal systems are popular. The particular charge controller you're considering is intended for either 12v or 24v nominal system. For each one, there is a commensurate power rating i.e 390W and 780 Watts respectively. Remember Power=Current x Voltage so for 12v 390W/12v=32.5 Amps and similarly 780W/24V=32.5 Amps. Hence the rating of the controller at roughly 30Amps and the corresponding maximum PV power allowable. The Max Solar input voltage refers to the arrangement of your panels to either increase Amperage (Parallel) or increase Voltage (Series), so lets assume that for your 24v System, the panels you intend to use (Look at the sticker on the back) have a Voc of 40v, that means for this controller, you must not have more than 3 in series, i.e 40v x 3 panels=120volts (<150VDC so Safe and within tolerance) but 40v x 4=160Volts (>150VDC, therefore unsafe and may damage the controller). Hope my ramblings helps. b.t.w, I agree with Totalgreen, go MPPT. |
Hi all, I have been quoted an outrageous amount as clearing for importing some solar panels (20). The least of the charges is N40,000 just for a risk assessment report. Allegedly they are doing me a favour by charging me at cost. I have phoned Cotecna who provide the reports, but spoke to someone who did know how much they charge. Can anyone explain how RARs work and why I should be charged N40,000 just for such a report on 20 solar panels? Thanks |
So you had not isolated the panels whilst tinkering? My brother, it could have been worse. Thank your lucky stars. TotalGreen: ........... i dont like a breaker between the battery and controller, cause if the breaker is activated and the panels are still producing power, it might fry the controller........Ironically, most controllers may have in-built protection for the scenario you described (tripped breaker). Ideally you should have a breaker between panels and charge controller, controller and batteries and batteries and inverter that way you can isolate any 'section'. Pele. |
They've got nothing on this crack 'ho'

femmy2010:@Femmy the cars are a subaru forester and a seat arosa. The arosa is a small little thing like a vw polo. |
Hi Femmy2010, the car will be coming from Europe with a set of winter tyres and 'normal' tyres. What about other personal effects/, can they be locked in the boot or something? I've heard bad thing about the port or is that all in the past. This is why I thought RoRo was less secure. Do you work out of Tin Can or Apapa? Thanks femmy2010: .... |
@Femmy, help me out. Rather than just how much to clear what are the steps for a newbie? Example Do I need a 'Form M' first? A set of tyres will be shipped (in addition to those currently on the car) will that be a problem? Is it better to ship roro or containerised? Is it better to make me or the agent the assignee on the shipping forms? Do the clearance fees you are quoting include your fees? If not, what is the 'typical' fee? |
celebrities ko, thought-leaders, inventors and people who actually improve the lot of the masses ni. ![]() |
Those ascribing the behaviour of the vultures to the 'security situation' are not serious. It is not a recent thing o. If contraband dey cross, dem no see am and boko haram come dem go disappear fiam. Security ko, insincerity ni. |
Noted @George_D, thanks. |
Thanks @pdozie |
@bodejohn, thanks for the reply. A stabiliser between Nepa and the inverter is a good thing. I'm assuming it would have to be a 'whole house' stabiliser rather than one for a single appliance. What's the typical cost for one? |
@all, a general question for those of you with an inverter with dual input (DC from solar array + AC from either NEPA or a generator), where you are relying on NEPA for additional (or sole) input for charging your batteries, how do you protect your inverter from low currents, fluctuating voltages, incorrect frequencies and all the other forms of professionalism from NEPA? I'm trying to decide whether to forget NEPA completely and just use a generator if I go beyond my system level of autonomy or hook it up to NEPA and save the expense of an auto-start generator but risk damaging the inverter. Any thoughts, experiences? |

).
. Which controller did you choose in the end? and I hope you've secured the panels against the wind.
