CapitalCee:I don’t even know where to start with this one. Your entire write up is built on a false premise and I would attack each point one by one to prove it’s actually you that started watching football recently. In 09/10 & 11/12, Rooney was a striker. He was never a CM or AM, his average position that season had him as the out and out striker. If he played as AM or CM, his PL’s number of assists won’t be 4, it would be closer to 20 that season. The day Bruno has only 4 assists in one season is the day he would retire. A further look at his stats that season also showed Rooney had only 1.5 key passes per game(5th in the squad) and 4.6 shots per game(1st in the squad). That does not suggest he was used as CM or AM. He was the main striker and even at his very best, he could not deliver 35 goals per season. A 20 year old Haaland just did. That same Bundesliga also produced Kevin De Bruyne that has strangled the Premier league for the past 5 years. KDB is now in the 10th position of the all time PL assists. The way you people rubbish other leagues only for their players to come to PL and make you consume your vomit always amuses me. Aubameyang, fresh from Bundesliga, made a mincemeat of the PL winning a golden boot but you tried to be clever by half by mentioning Werner and Havertz. ![]() Bruno is from Portuguese league(a league considered 5 tiers lower than PL) and yet he’s putting everyone in the dust. If Haaland comes to the PL, all your favorites will have to retire because that boy is putting all of them in the grave. The only 20 year old you can compare to Haaland right now was a 20 year old Brazilian Ronaldo. Not even Messi was this potent at age 20. Haaland is better than all your favorites. Argue with logic, not with emotions or some emotional attachment to one ex-player that many considered never lived up to expectation. Rooney was supposed to conquer the world, he never did. CapitalCee:Haaland at 18 would have done the same in that team that contained Terry, Scholes, Owen, Ashley Cole, Hargreaves, etc. The whole leading England to EURO 2004 glory is also overrated. They beat Croatia & Switzerland(not exactly good teams). They lost scandalously to France and they lost to Portugal. What’s the big deal? ![]() Between you and I, who started watching football recently? It has to be you. Rooney was good but he’s not this ‘Haaland’ good. How do you explain Rooney never won the golden boot in England in 16 years? Did Ronaldo play as a striker to win it? I am mature enough to give Haaland his flowers, you are too emotional to do it. How many 20 year olds have 20 CL goals? Rooney had 3 goals at 20. Rooney didn’t score his 20th CL goal until he was almost 25 years of age. Cristiano had 3 UCL goals at 20, Messi had just 2 UCL goals at 20. Eden Hazard(Chelsea’s best player in the last 100 years) has just 9 UCL goals in his entire career. Is that who you are comparing to Rooney? Get help. Whether Haaland’s career will be as successful as the aforementioned players is anyone’s guess but as of today while he’s still 20 years of age, he’s better than all of your favorites cloned together when they were 20. Yeah, I said it. ![]() |
hoopLA:I’d sell Martial, Rashford, Daniel James, Lingard, Jones, Mata and Tuanzebe to get this guy. He’s just 20 years of age for fück’s sake and Bundesliga has 4 fewer league games than other top 5 European leagues. So imagine how many more he would score if Bundesliga has 38 league games? To put this in perspective, Rooney never scored 40 goals in any season in his career. Haaland could be the next Ronaldo. |
Haaland has scored his 40th goal this season across all competitions. This boy is a machine. |

airmark:You crossed them out because you are a petulant child with hissy-fits. Once you are faced with facts, you throw your toys out of the pram. A careful diagnosis would show you suffer from acute ADHD. Seek help. airmark:Ballon d’Or is a popularity contest. We all laughed as United fans when Beckham came 2nd(FIFA player of the year) twice in 99 and 2001. He was the least talented of the midfield quartet in that era. Beckham is tiers below Giggs, Scholes and Keane so when Lampard also came 2nd twice, we laughed. We get it. Henry gets it. He said it actually that Scholes never got any award because he never sought the limelight. airmark:You have two choices. Prove with strong evidence that I am or shut the fück up. So what it’s gonna be? ![]() |
airmark:Are you a child? What’s with the cross outs? Did you miss that experience as a toddler when children cross out words with felt pens on drawing sheets? When they lose arguments to the illimitable, the other alternative is to brand me as Coogar. The same old and tired strategy that has put many moröns like yourself in shallow graves. |
Expert17:This is another way of looking at it. Imagine the number of penalties taken by these ‘world class’ midfielders to statpad and then claim greatness over Scholes? Scholes - 499 PL games - 36,115 PL minutes Gerrard - 504 PL games - 41,158 PL minutes Lampard - 609 PL games - 48,909 PL minutes Ryan Giggs - 632 PL games - 46,435 PL minutes. Even though it may appear that Giggs has played the most number of PL games, Lampard has actually spent 2000PL more minutes on the pitch than Giggs(the grandfather of PL). This is to tell you how often Lampard played, rarely misses PL games to injury cos he’s got similar genes like Maguire. He plays as a CAM, he’s the designated set piece taker of his team, scored from 43 penalty kicks in the PL. ![]() Scholes scored from 1 PL penalty kick in his entire football career against West Ham in 99/2000 season. Even before considering anything else, Lampard already has a swing of 42 PL goals in his favor. Yet, some idiötic Chelsea fans use these dubious stats to prop him up as the best midfielder in the PL. ![]() |
airmark:I would take Ferguson’s words over Ferdinand’s. airmark:You are the poster child of stupidity. If I bring out all the quotes of football greats licking their lips over Scholes, you would get a gun and shoot Lampard yourself. airmark:But it’s PL hall of fame, not UCL hall of fame. The stupidity in you cannot resist showing off itself. airmark:Yet, your stupidity outshines everyone again by displaying itself unprovoked. Scholes & Lampard didn’t even play in the same positions. We have exposed Lampard’s dubious number of minutes, outrageous numbers of set piece taken, etc. Why are you comparing that to Jesus and Kane who played in the same position. I know why you are irritated about Scholes. He’s won more league titles than Chelsea- the club you foolishly support. Scholes has more medals than your club that was established over 100 years ago. I am starting to think that’s your irritation. It’s not my fault that you foolishly choose to support a failing club. Premier League Titles: Scholes 11-6 Chelsea airmark:Ferguson tried multiple times to sign many players. That means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Ferguson tried to sign Mikel Obi at 18, he even went to court on Mikel’s issue. That automatically makes Mikel Obi a world class player? You’re a pleb! airmark:One could mine idiocy from your gene pool. Which best players in the world are you talking about? How many good teams did Croatia play on their way to the final? The winner of the world cup cannot face more than 7 teams at the World Cup, of which 4 of them are usually shit teams. Brazil on their way to 2002 World Cup faced Turkey(twice), China, Costa Rica, England, Belgium and Germany. China and Belgium in 2002 had world class players in their squad in 2002? airmark:I am starting to believe you are a rētard. The great players rarely face each other because of seeding. The group stage usually has one good team facing 1 average team and 2 dead teams for KO qualification. Are you a morön? Remind us the teams England faced on their way to the s/final in Russia? How many world class players did England play against? airmark:The devil is in the details. Paul Scholes was the heart & soul of a team that dominated England for close to 20 years. He was never replaced or discarded in those 20 years that brought gazillion titles that the club you support may never win. If he’s a shit player, there’s no way he’s commanding his position for 20 years. Many pretenders came and left but Scholes remained for 2 decades. United haven’t won a league title since Scholes finally retired. Even when Roy Keane, Beckham, etc left, Paul Scholes remained and there was no title drought. United kept winning 3 PL titles back to back while Scholes was the main architect of those victories. I mean, one can be stupid but your own stupid is unrivaled. That’s the dude you are comparing to Lampard the journeyman? If Lampard is so world class like you claim to be, how come his close to 20 years in PL football didn’t bring at least 10 league titles for the club he played for? When they tell urchins like you to stay in school and learn logic, you refuse and start chasing women. You might actually be the most stupid Chelsea fan I have been unfortunate to come across in my life. Like, how do you manage to navigate daily challenges with this obscene levels of stupidity? ![]()

patrickmuf:Ask him how many of Lampard’s assists were from open play? Scholes never took corners or indirect freekicks to pad up stats. As soon as Ole put Shaw in set piece duties, his chance creation and assist stats almost quadrupled. The other factor is Scholes played deeper in a 4-4-2 formation as a CM for most of his career. Another factor is Lampard played 11,000 PL minutes more than Scholes. 11,000 PL minutes is 122 PL games more. ![]() |
airmark:If you have any football IQ, you would know Ferdinand and Lampard were team mates at West Ham. airmark:Let me reiterate……….. Ferdinand and Lampard were best of friends as youth players. They did everything together from age 16 to 21. They shared rooms, traveled together, did everything together, did 3somes together. Besides, what would Ferdinand know about a midfield player? Ferdinand knows more about players than Alex Ferguson that managed the most successful football club in England for 26 years? airmark:This is daftness unlimited. Anybody can win a tournament’s best player. It’s a month old competition and even a dog knows there’s an element of luck in a competition like the World Cup where you don’t have to play everybody in the competition to win the trophy. The league is a complete kettle of fish. All the teams involved in the competition get to play each other. It’s the truest form of competition and this is why they say the league table tells no lies. For Gerrard to have missed winning it once in 18 years simply shows he’s a failure. Modric faced a total of 7 teams out of the 32 teams that participated at the World Cup. Only a complete möron would even attempt to compare a tournament like the World Cup to a league system. ![]() airmark:You are reeling out fake stats. airmark:Ferguson wanted and signed Bebe, Bebe must be world class. airmark:Giggs alone out of all the bums you mentioned. ![]() airmark:Ortega didn’t win 11 league titles. airmark:Stop comparing luck-fueled tournament football to a league system. If you are playing 7 teams out of 32 to win a trophy and comparing it to league system where you play everyone twice then you shouldn’t have an opinion in football matters. airmark:Individual feat that amounted to diving to earn a penalty? ![]() airmark:Scholes is the most talented player that came out of Manchester in the last 50 years. His peers said so, his opponents have said so and he has 11 league titles to show for it. Gerrard has 0 PL titles in 18 attempts. If you fail an exam 18 times, you shouldn’t get any honor from the board of that exam. The only thing Gerrard should be honored for is certificate of attendance. |
airmark:Xavi is a central midfielder - he would know. Xavi isn’t the only one that had Scholes as the best English midfielder of all time. If I put quotes here, you would run away. It’s a tired topic. airmark:Football reporting wasn’t wall to wall like we have these days when Scholes was at his peak. Who’s Kante? airmark:Modric won the CL and also took a very average Croatia team to the final of a World Cup. His achievement in 2018 was unparalleled apart from Varane. Varane plays for France - who are expected to win big things anyway. So Modric got all the accolades deservedly. airmark:That’s the point. Nobody was counting assists when Scholes was at his peak. airmark:Yet when the greatest manager of all time was asked the number of world class players he managed, SAF mentioned Scholes and Ronaldo. He didn’t mention all those bums on your list. ![]() airmark:Scholes won it without these ones in 1999. Another ridiculous point! airmark:And England went on to win the Euros and the World Cup back to back after Scholes retired, didn’t they? When Scholes was running the midfield for England and Man Utd, Gerrard and Lampard were in their parents backyard watching how they could one day be as great as Scholes. airmark:And only a retärd that has been sectioned to 22 different mental institutions would advocate for Gerrard into the hall of fame without ever winning the competition. The aim of creating any competition is to determine a winner If Gerrard knew Liverpool weren’t good enough as a team to win the competition, why didn’t he leave? Part of being a good footballer is making a decision that supports your ambition - I doubt he had any. Ronaldo could have stayed in Lisbon all his life. Messi could have returned to Argentina to keep in touch with his roots. Zidane could have remained in Cannes all his career or fat Ronaldo could have turned down the opportunity of coming to Europe when he was 18. All these players made big decisions to leave the comfort zones of their homes and get into clubs that align with their ambitions. It’s not Buhari’s fault Gerrard stayed in a club that couldn’t win the PL. He should take responsibility for his decision. If you make excuses for failure, it’s perhaps because you are a failure yourself. ![]()

airmark:And when Xavi was asked who was the best player he had seen in 20 years, whose name did he mention? Player of the season award is a popularity contest. Scholes was a ginger, camera shy, didn’t give a fück about granting interviews to journos and pundits who drive the narrative of who to give the award. Is it not illogical that a player who couldn’t win one league title in about 18 years to be inducted into the ball of fame? Paul Scholes was the reason United won all those titles. It’s not a team achievement. He retired and he was brought back again to win it in SAF’s last season. Scholes was everything Gerrard dreamt to be and never was. Only idiöts would put Gerrard ahead of Scholes. |
Expert17:Once they put Gerrard before Scholes, I confirmed their stupidity. Scholes has 11 PL medals to Gerrard’s 0. This is like a popularity contest to them. It’s got nothing to do with footballing ability. |
Mrviktor:Rashford has the DNA. That’s the only thing that matters, not football skills. |
hoopLA: ![]() This guy won’t kill me on this thread. White Bazuaye? Olesexuals in the mud for the umpteenth time. |
patrickmuf:United should have signed him back then in 2014 or early 2015. SAF would have certainly signed him. The fools sitting in United’s board these days don’t have any ambition. They will rather save money for the Glazers. I cannot think of any top English striker that Ferguson didn’t want. He bought Andy Cole(British record fee), chased Shearer to the end of the world before that one stupidly signed for Newcastle and wasted his career. Ferguson signed Rooney as soon as he could lay his hands on him. He signed Owen in the twilight of his career - but that was because Liverpool wouldn’t have sold Owen to United. The beef between the two clubs was huge in the late 90s. |
Joezinho:Kane has scored one goal, zero assist since Mourinho left. They have played 6 games since then. They have a cultural reboot and Mason is starting players with the club’s DNA. Everyone is happy, Dele is smiling and Harry Winks is delighted. That’s all that matters. ![]() |
Kane shedding tears after the game. What a legend for Spurs. |
Tottenham had one shot on target in the 8th minute and nothing else throughout that half. I am wondering whether Ryan Mason told them to sit back and defend with their lives. If this was Mourinho, that would be the narrative. ![]() |
hoopLA:I am not even happy that everyone wants Ole to sign new strikers. Won’t the new striker disturb the development of the players with United-DNA like Greenwood or Rashford? Why can’t Ole coach what he’s got into perfection like Mourinho was asked to? When it was Mourinho, the squad was good enough to finish as champions. Now that it’s Ole, everyone wants him to buy top players to enable him become a champion. I despise these double standards. |
Expert17:A striker still has to put the ball in the net. A goalie might not make a single save in a game to keep a clean sheet. Two different issues. Expert17:Goalkeepers and strikers aren’t the same thing. There are many games where a team doesn’t even concede a single shot on target because of how brilliant the defence is. Yet, the keeper reaps where he didn’t sow by getting undeserved credits of a clean sheet. A striker has to score a goal to even think of golden boot. Golden boot is an individual award. Keeping a clean sheet isn’t. |
Expert17:Golden glove isn’t only a goalkeeper’s achievement. The defenders in front of him also make sure he doesn’t concede stupid goals. They all contribute to the achievements. You are trying to be clever by half. I said save of the season. - Maguire or Bailly will not help any goalkeeper to win the save of the season award. It’s an individual achievement. So try again. ![]() |
Expert17:De Gea has 5 MOTD’s save of the season awards in his kitty. Henderson has what? ![]() |
No way De Gea isn’t saving this Firmino header.
|
Expert17:De Gea is Spain’s #1 Expert17:Pogba isn’t a defender, Bissaka(a fullback for that matter) is. Expert17:He goes back to Sheffield United next summer. ![]() |
Expert17:So every free header is a savable shot? ![]() I am not the only one that felt Henderson should have caught Firminho’s shot. Scholes said so too. He was right there and it was a from a set piece unlike the De Gea one that was open play. Bissaka did an awful job and Bryan placed that header down unlike the Firminho goal that was placed within an arm’s reach of Henderson. The Henderson fairytale is almost over. ![]()
|
MRTA7:Ndidi is a beast. He won that ball like Makelele and laid the pass like Xavi. |
eph12:Bissaka wasn’t drawn to anyone. The outside was always the danger, not the inside. Lindelof and De Gea had the inside covered if the ball drops there. Bissaka didn’t even know Bryan was on the outside . He never saw him until the last moment. He’s very poor. He has conceded about a dozen goals like that previously so it’s a habitual weakness. |
Expert17:Weak because De Gea held position. Henderson would have jumped and missed the ball while rushing out. |
Mrviktor:That save when Lindelof was bullied by a bottom tier forward? Henderson would have rushed out and conceded. |
MRTA7:We need:- RB CB CDM RW before we should even consider a striker. Wan Bissaka is a ticking time bomb. |
LMDyaya:If he wins Europa, he gets a new contract. |
