nitrogen: Utd is a global brand. No one cares about some stadium fans that feel entitled. The pandemic showed the world that sports can survive without fans physically present.
Moreso, if there is a boycott by Utd fans, others will watch. Don’t forget that the teams you are playing against have their fans too. The business model will quickly change to capture the impact of boycotts by utd fans.
Finally, companies signing contracts with Utd are trying to get the world to see their products. They want to be a global brand, they want football fans (in general) to know their brands.
Bombblacks: As long as they are watching on tv and are in the stadium they are spectators (fans). So that means they generate all the revenue. If they generate all the revenue, what are the fans worth?
If that’s your definition of football fans then I am sorry for you.
Bombblacks: They generate all the revenue. Without fans that's zero revenue. If they generate all the revenue, what's their worth?
They don’t even generate all the revenue. You are mistaken if you think that way. 70% of the fans at Old Trafford are mere tourists. The average fan has been priced out with the increase in match tickets over the years.
This is why all the planned anti-Glazer boycotts don’t work. Arsenal fans also planned plenty WengerOut boycotts that never worked.
There’s also a section of people who come to the stadium just to watch their favorite players. If the said player moves to another club, they would dump Old Trafford and pay tickets to watch the player in another club.
patrickmuf: This season no go easy...See men from both camps fully on ground waiting for the start of the season...
I remain a member of the Ole out brigade and I'll stand by my members to drag Ole if he continues his choke job...
Scenes when Ole is languishing in 9th position by Christmas.
Bombblacks: You haven't provided an answer. So I ask again what is football without fans watching and buying their mechandise?
I didn’t actually say football can survive without the fans. I said the fans overrate themselves - they see themselves more important than what they are actually worth.
The bottom feeders in a food chain are also important but not as important as the levels above them. In the football pyramid, the fans are the least important. You are just consumers at the end of the day.
If you don’t go to Old Trafford, other people will. If all the Manchester United fans residing in Manchester boycott United games, neutrals from other parts of the world would attend the games and watch.
It’s a global business now. So you and your boycotts are irrelevant.
Bombblacks: That's why I have been asking the same question and he was beating around the Bush There is basically no revenue without fans. Tv deals, Kits and merchandise, stadium revenue etc Imagine the audacity for one to think fans don't own football and are overrated.
So the fans get nothing in return with all the money they put into football?
raumdeuter: How much do you think Man utd make, and how much of these come from these section of fans. You are supporting a global team, the more they go global, have global ambitions, the local fans impact reduce
Its now a business, All the players are there because of a fat paycheck and will leave if anyone offer them more money. If you want the connection, you will be supporting FC United of Manchester who play all local youths
Alaba who grew up in Bayern academy is now wearing and kissing Madrid badge, where is the connection?
If I stop supporting Bayern today, minus the $200 jersey I buy a year what will a Billion Dollar brand miss?
Fans that are as fickle as fück. The most entitled set of people you would ever come across.
For instance look at the section of United fans that disrupted a match last season shouting “Glazers Out” - as if it’s realistic to remove the owners of a club via riots.
Ask the average fan to choose between his club doing community outreach versus his team losing, he would say fück the community, give me a trophy.
Ask the average fan to choose between having a foreign owner whose source of money is questionable but he can bring in Ronaldo, Messi, etc versus a local businessman who can only bring in a striker from Oldham Athletic and every fan would choose the corrupt foreign owner.
Bombblacks: Do you have a connection to your club? What is football with people paying to watch them and buying their merchandise?
They are just consumers.
Football provides entertainment and you pay to watch the entertainment. Just like you paying to watch an opera. It’s a transactional business. This is why most club owners don’t rate football fans.
You(as a fan) do not have the rights to decide how the opera must play to your taste or complain that the soprano of one of the members of an opera isn’t strong enough. Those are some of the entitlements football fans get to enjoy.
Imagine someone as daft as QueenAlabi sitting in the stands bellowing match tips at world class athletes. “Come on KDB, cross it! Yeah yeah, make the run, drop back”.
raumdeuter: Its similar to what Bayern Ultra did to Neuer in 2011, Koan Neuer signs all over the place and when he signed for Bayern they gave him the commandment below. It was until Ulli threatened to take out their stand and replace them with high paying corporate seats
1) Neuer must never simulate or initiate the team's megaphone chants.
2) Neuer must not kneel before the team and sing the 'Humba' song.
3) Neuer is prohibited from approaching the South Stand fence.
4) Neuer should not throw his shirt into the South Stand.
5) Neuer may not kiss the Bavarian crest
Football fans rub me the wrong way.
The average football fan is one of the most deluded and over-sentimentalised creatures in modern life. Our judgement is utterly flawed and we often overrate ourselves in the grand scheme of things.
Imagine football fans issuing Fatwa on a player that has chosen to come play for them. A whole Neuer for that matter. The audacity is hilarious. After winning virtually everything, has their stance on Neuer changed over the years? Do they see him as a hero now or they still think he’s shït?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN-8hyZxdyg Where we go see CM wey dey knock ball like this? Midfielders like this guy, Iniesta, Scholes, Xavi, Pirlo, etc are the kind of midfielders I love watching. Players that oozes confidence, control, and calmness. When they get the ball you immediately see they've got technique. Pogba too plays this way but you can't just shrug off this feeling that he is kind of lethargic on the ball, if he is just a tad bit faster ... and shorter, nobody can touch him in midfield.
Pogba does this every time he plays for France. At United, nobody really makes intelligent runs apart from Rashford who can also be erratic with his runs.
Martial wants ball to feet - one of the laziest forwards in the history of the game. Daniel James has no directional sense and he’s also erratic at controlling the ball.
With France, Griezmann, Mbappe and Benzema made perfect runs and Pogba was finding them with ease. He had the most through passes in the Euros despite getting kicked out in the round of 16.
Pogba is the best midfielder on the planet - he can do everything and that sometimes work against him. When Man City or United concede goals, nobody every blames KDB or Bruno but someway somehow Pogba gets blamed.
Pogba is the only midfielder expected to defend, score, assist, and basically do everything in the midfield. When he doesn’t score, KDB/Bruno is better than him. When his team concedes, he’s automatically compared to Kante. One player gets compared to AMs, CMs and CDMs at the same time.
patrickmuf: No doubt about his signing, he is levels above Lindelof however, I hope Ole doesn't have favs as usual, all of them should battle for their place in the team...
If Lindelof steps up, then any of them that slacks should be benched...Let everyone fight to keep his place in the team.
I don’t think Lindelof can do better than what he’s offered so far. His ceiling isn’t very high. However, it’s better to have options like we do in case any of them has a long term injury.
I heard Woodward is after Trippier. I don’t understand that signing at all. If someone should be signed to improve Wan Bissaka like Telles improved Shaw, it should be that boy in Brighton(Tariq Lamptey).
patrickmuf: Arsenal fans are using this line to comeback against Man Utd fans and other rivals on Twitter...
In the long run, we will prolly spend more or thereabout...
It’s still an excellent signing. His wages shouldn’t matter.
Varane has won 18 club competitions, he’s won more CL titles than United and Arsenal put together. I don’t have any problem at all with his signing. He’s better than Maguire/Lindelof.
Oasis007: I prefer Camavinga though. He's young and more mobile than Ndidi.
His numbers are better going forward. One would be getting less than half of his amazing talents by asking him to sit in the DM position.
I want a stationary pillar in the DM. We already have two creative midfielders in Pogba and Bruno. Putting Camavinga there to join them is an overkill. Who would defend if we lose the ball?
He’s the best and the most elite fit for this role.
Camavinga is also decent but he has more to give going forward than restricting him to the role of a water carrier.
I also like the look of Renato Tapia of Celta Vigo. The Peruvian even gets busier than Ndidi in snapping at the ankles of any intruder in his zone. He’s like prime Makelele. He misses nothing in his area.
raumdeuter: I dont think Ole can win the league too and I am actually happy he was extended. Man Utd is a dangerous team because they are rich . They only need a good coach to be elite in Europe
With Ole at the wheels one less team to worry about
Ole at the wheels is a vehicular homicide.
melodyogonna: Klopp is getting sacked this season, mark this as prophecy
Liverpool will sack the manager that won them the PL title for the first time in 30 years?
Bombblacks: Did Ole not finish above Klopp last season?
Ole cannot finish above those 3 managers in a single season is the point.
If he finishes above Klopp, Pep will finish above Ole. If he finishes above Tuchel, Klopp will finish above Ole. If he finishes above Pep, Tuchel will finish above Ole.
