Bfly: Believe this, Tinubu cannot do 8years. He is a regular politician. His ideas about national development is too abstract. Yet He announced removal of subsidy without consensus. Like He can come about national development alone. He thinks his elected subordinates has no option that to follow his action plan like a Godfather.
Political party Godfatherism cannot strive in national development because the support of the people is not as easy to get. Imagine 13million people voted against you out of 21million. And you decided not to be discreet in your decision making.
How i wish Tinubu didn't make that announcement and let it be rumoured until end of june. So that the masses could aswell prepare for this. Now, the oil marketer opportunists are voraciously feeding on the masses. Even NNPC also leverage on such announcement when depot price has not even changed.
Seriously, the masses have made a lot of sacrifices for the country while the government and the elite have made non. It now looks like the government is solely working for big capitalists against the masses.
We are ourselves heroes.
There's no preparation any masses can have for subsidy removal. It's a very painful injection that the country must take and stop unnecessary bleeding. We're feeding the whole of West Africa with stolen fuel for God's sake. We don't need Tinubu to spend 8years, we need him to do the right thing. What has come out of the 8years of others abi which kain mind set be this one?
SWATMan: Shame on you. Who was BAT working for in 2012? He should think out of the box to solve this fuel problem that made him to callg GEJ a kindergarten president! Now is the time to prove that he has something to offer after all he boasted during the presidential campaign season that he is the most qualified and prepared candidate to lead us and would not disclose how he intends to solve the myriads of problems confronting us lest his opponents steal his plans. "Those who must destroy to succeed, would have destruction waiting for them at the pinnacle of their success" Maybe you are still being spoon fed that's why you are blindly supporting this attempt to finish us patapata.
We've been in the box of subsidy and parallel FX rates for decades. Tinubu just made the toughest decision on that right from the start. Do you realize that he's technically deregulated the oil industry and made more revenue for the FG, State government and LGs. Think a bit before even talking about the box.
Ofunaofu: At the bolded, there is a pattern, this particular one in power now will be the worst of them all. Already his first week have been catastrophic
Catastrophic to you and all haters of our dear country.
englishmart: No need for any introduction. The topic is very simple. Which would you prefer?
A foolish question. The two are not mutually exclusive. We've an eternity to spend with God or without God. A more foolish question is to choose between God and money. There's something more than gold.
Rightly said. The removal is a painful injection that the nation must take and there is no better time in the future, we have procrastinated enough. It's unfortunate that the only people against this move are the subsidy beneficiaries and followers of Labour party. These same set of unpatriotic people will rather have chaos, military takeover and war than take their well given loss in peace. Terrorists.
DatNiggaDaz: Is this an attack on Christians Why is this thread on politics section of the frontpage. When you have a MU-MU ticket that stole the mandate of Nigerians, expect more of this propaganda and thread.
Try make a thread on Islam & watch what happens. There is one thread about the catholics for days on politics section of Nairaland.
And right now, fuel in Nigeria is N488-540 per liter.
At the end of the day, smugglers cannot make a profit at all. Removing subsidy has made it difficult for anyone to smuggle fuel across the border.
And people ask me why I say subsidy must go...well here is one good reason.
Modified
If fuel was still N195, and I was living on the border, I can buy fuel into two 50l jerrycans, at N19500, cross the broder and sell it at dobule the price, and earn a cool N40000. Note that it was not only big cabals involved in the smuggling...it was also small poor boys and gals too.
That's what Tinubu means by making corruption less attractive. Fighting corruption is not just by using EFCC to chase people up and down.
President should be very careful with what sort of message he sends out. Is that message "I care nothing about those not in APC"
Make of it what you will. Nothing stops the president from meeting any set of people that he wants to. He's met CBN, EFCC, NNPC, China, Service chiefs etc. Everything is turn by turn. He constitutionally will meet with all governors at FEC. If you are not patient enough, grow up from the 5year old you are talking like.
Wutinky: I don't think many of you understand the issue here, the money made from this subsidy will be embezzle by our corrupt politicians, In two years time we will be here talking about it aka rinse and repeat, I spit
Gradually everybody will get tired of this country, this country was never design to prosper
You say so because we don't trust the government. There's a point you get to in life that you just allow. If you've been to the hospital, you will understand. Nobody is doing shakara when in pain. You don't care what the doctor does or touches irrespective of gender or trust. Or if you are drowning/choking and someone is trying to rescue you, you don't care if it's the "devil" at the point of resuscitation. Nigeria is seriously bleeding from subsidies, everyone has said it regardless of party affiliation.
i understand we don't really trust our governments but it makes absolutely no sense to be spending the below on education, health, security etc and be spending over 4trillion p.a on subsidies. The people we pay subsidy to are not up to 200. Common!
DrMuzungu: Is he a leader only to APC polithiefcians or to all of them? If he is president to all of them, why only APC polithiefcians are attending that meeting? To discuss how to fvck Nigeria up better?
Are you 4years old? There are different types of meetings.
LordReed: This sounds so unintelligent. He is telling us that subtracting the cost of shipping all the way from Russia or Europe or the US plus the cost of money (exchange rates) plus insurance will not significantly impact the final cost. Does he think he is speaking to infants.
He's speaking to Nigerians. Whatever significant impact is eroded by removal of subsidy and Nigerian market conditions.
omooo. GAZZUZZ. It's people using generators that need tips at the moment. Because your tips no reach bus, okada and keke drivers and many of their hearts wicked pass Ahab own.
clearcrystal: Something Buhari could not fix in 8yrs.
If eventually Tinubu is able to fix at least one before the end of this year, it simply means he's part of the cabal sabotaging the efforts of the previous administration.
LoLz, from his room right? Tinubu has excellent experience of the oil and gas sector and the economy. Meaning nobody can give him zobo reports about it and it'll slide. What Kyari is talking about though is a plan Tinubu met there and is following through. If Dangote starts work in August, subsidy is gone(deregulation basically) and FX issues are sorted, cabal has drastically being cabalized. There's basically little incentive for "cabality" and corruption. That's why this is Bola Tinubu, not Buhari or any other Nigerian politician.
dalaman: BAT wants to lead alone?? He needs to start making appointments immediately.
BAT is ready, seems he's re-strategising and leaving the cards a bit open until the National Assembly positions are officially decided. i expect things to pick up around his June 12 democracy day broadcast and events.
FreeStuffsNG: I knew it is fake news. Just deleting is not enough, there has to be consequences for such mischief of spreading fake news. Check my signature for free stuffs!
It seems Gbaja is indeed working/acting in that capacity until official confirmation. Some offices can't be void for long. The news agencies are not totally wrong but will have to be more cautious in future in their attempts to BREAK news.
juvewalex: He didn't explain why local production won't reduce fuel price , if you're producing in Nigeria, will there still be a landing cost ?
Nigeria government is never straight forward in dealing with its citizens.
Na still corruption be this anyways.
There's standard price for crude oil which is the raw material. Refining crude oil is done at international best practice, not religious or tribal charities.
