sealteam66: Sometimes when I want to do something special for God

I usually face the dilemma; Money or prayer which is most efficacious

Please back up your opinion with bible quotation

Thank in advance
If you want to do anything for God (whatever that means), simply make sure your heart, soul and body is right with Him. Then go ahead and offer joyfully, whether prayer, praises or material(which you call money).

ujoinme: Do you know how much your governor is getting as pension? Most Nigerian gov. have fat pensions for life. The good news for Akwa Ibom is that they have a listening gov. because of the Nation wide protest against the pension bill the obnoxious pension laws has been abolished in Akwa Ibom State by the same governor.
I'm aware of politicians in Nigeria getting ludicrous money, it doesn't exonerate Akpabio's preposterous and obnoxious demands which attracted nationwide protest.
Anyway, beat it. i know and recognize Akpabio as performing compared to others including the FG. i hope it's not in your job description to defend Akpabio for right and wrong.

Nice one Gov Akpabio . . .. . Absolutely free, no tolling . . . . .
Akpabio has tooooo much free money than not to work like this. He's a performer nonetheless. i wish all the other south south governors were this functional, and also the FG. Note that akwa ibom is affording to pay Akpabio more than 200million naira annually FOR PENSION. You can hardly compare the no eye blinking wealth of the south south to others.

Isaiah 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

The 'he' in this passage is said to refer to Jesus Christ. Christ means or denotes Messiah or Saviour. His very name is indicative of His purpose. He came to SAVE the needy and the helpless. He's the Messiah we've being waiting for. Notice this verse is written like the event has happened. "He has borne our griefs". Actually, Jesus came around centuries later to do that. But the godly prophet declared and saw it as if He already did. SURELY, He has borne our griefs. That is faith, that is godliness, calling those things which be not as though they were. Faith of course should be in God. Declaring and accepting God's promise. Don't go and claim what is not oh, lol. That one would be lying. Hold on to WHAT GOD HAS SAID. Surely, Verily, Without doubt, He has borne our griefs, He has carried our sorrows. Mind you, Ebola is a thing of grief and sorrows. Ebola is not good news, sickness is not child's play. Jesus came to carry your griefS and sorrowS. You don't need to anymore.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Jesus came for ebola. Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. Jesus came to destroy evil works. That purpose for which He suffered and died. It was to destroy the devil and accessories.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Above ALL else, above every other thing. Whatever else you may have on you, salvation, righteousness, degrees, experience, internet, information, social network, money. Above all, take the shield of faith. It is not a time to be afraid or anxious. Fear and anxiety only compound problems and hasten tragedy. Pick it up, take the shield of faith. It's rampant and almost normal for folks to speak in fear about Ebola, but no more. NOW, faith is. Take the shield of faith, it remains ABLE to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. No matter how fiery ebola seems, faith makes you able to quench ALL. Ebola is contained in ALL.

i am not a doctor.

Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is a very infectious and deadly disease that affects human beings and some animals. The disease is caused by infection with Ebola virus, named after a river in the D.R. Congo.
It makes those infected very sick. Up to 90% of patients infected with Ebola will die. There are currently no vaccines or definitive treatment.
This disease has become a plague/epidemic ravaging West Africa at present. There is ongoing research and studies to get the cure and perhaps vaccine.
i want/have to say that it is okay and in tandem with scriptures for everyone to heed to best practices on preventing further Ebola infection. Also, there is nothing wrong in taking medicine to cure or prevent Ebola and any other disease. There are modes of transportation as there are modes of healing. Approved drugs/medicine remain a valid mode of healing.
As the world looks sort of helplessly at the raging plague, the aim of this thread is to remind everyone that there is hope, and help is on the way. For every believer, there is no need to panic. Stay strong,
Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

plaetton: I agree with the first part of your post, except where you said mentioned intelligent design.
The fact that we are here discussing Ebola, a runaway disease that distabilizes and kills the human body should be enough to disprove your so-called intelligent design.
The human body, or any body for that matter, is not intelligently designed, otherwise it would not be prone to disease and malfunction at all, considering the omni omni power, wisdom and foresight of the supposed designer.

Also, let me remind you, there is no perfect harmony in the universe. What you see as harmony are structures and mechanisms that took millions and billions of years to attain certain degrees of stability.

For example, it took the Earth over 4 billions years of violent wobbles just to attain its near-perfect orbit around the Sun. It is these violent wobbles of yesteryears that gave rise to craters, mountains, rivers and volcanic activities and of course the continents drifting part.
Kindly give an example of what is intelligent or perfect, any example(s).
Christianity Etc › Re: How Ebola Kills God As Well As Humans by Image123(m): 2:41am On Aug 11, 2014
mazaje: I just tire for this intelligent design argument. . .Ebola was intelligently designed for what?. . What about Hurricane and sink holes?. . .what were they intelligently designed for?. . .The asterisked nko?. . .what were they intelligently designed for?. . .Even our parent star the sun will some day grow too big and consume the earth, what was it intelligently designed for?. . .
There you go again re-defining intelligence. In other words, you are not intelligent too right? When for instance, you scored 80/100 or 93/100 , definitely you're not intelligent. We should ask what abouts on the marks you missed. Your refusal to acknowledge intelligence is in itself unintelligent.

CHARLOE: @ image123, ur line of argument is weak, am a xtian but hate 2 admit d atheists are making a valid pt. D bible is contradictry somtimes, Promising divine helth, healing, miracles (like image123 is trying 2 defend) n in anoda part saying we are prone to sickness n oda trobles of life (like shdemidemi is admiting). I've always wondered y we only c healing n miracles on d pages of d bible wit promises 2 us of same if we belive, but in reality it doesn't hapen, cos if it does, ebola n oda diseases wil b a tin of d past. Science has provided solutions to several diseases dat were previously incurable n hopefuly wil do same to ebola, as i kno we're all hoping, both xtians n muslims alike. I belive as som1 said earlier, God has bin misrepresentd 2 us n d bible does not help matters, but d evidence of his existence abound all around us in form of inteligent design; frm d complex n perfect human body to d super complex n infinite universe n how evertin work in perfect harmony. Maybe instead of calling dis super intelligent being god, call him d creator or what u wish (so u wont be reffering to d god of d bible in ur mind, cos of d obvious flaws in d bible). My submisions: d presence of intelligent design all around us pis proof of a super intelligent designer/creator/god, but he does not interfer in d affairs of men d way we are told in d bible/koran. Or god n satan are 1 n dsame person, just 2 sides of a coin.
Really, no argument not to mention line in this for me. i'm just answering questions. It's okay to note that there are valid questions albeit overlaced with mockery and scoffing.
There is no misrepresentation or contradiction in the scriptures. What we have are the right shades of day and night, up and down, rain and sunshine, head and tail. It's actually a matter of understanding and perspective. God still works miracles, so also has He given man wisdom and material to survive.

Dapo777: No he isn't.

What he is saying is very clear and straightforward, but because of the emotional attachment you have with your religion that is why you don't want to open up your mind to reason with him.

Blunders in your argument:
1)You are putting mazaje on the same level God. Mazaje is NOT all powerful, all knowing, all merciful nor all present.

2)By asking Mazaje if he can give someone 40k naira, your point is that curing Ebola is a big deal for God since I suppose you think Mazaje is too stingy to give 40k out like that.

3)After Mazaje told you he has given someone even more than the amount you mention, you asked him if he could do So again to your friend, and he said no,obviously because he doesn't know your friend personally. Then you diverted your point to "because someone did something once doesn't mean he should/would do it again.". Poor argument.

Did your mum ever stop giving your food when you were young?
Did she ever tell you that because she was doing it before doesn't mean she should do it again.

The truth is,you are just fabricating excuses for God which we all know doesn't make an iota of sense.
*Cheers*
mazaje's rescuer. You've done a poor job.
1. i didn't put him as all powerful or all anything. i simply showed him how he was unwilling to do something within his capacity. that is give out 50000naira.
2. 50,000naira is not a big deal to mazaje supposedly, yet he refused(almost with glee) to give my friend.
3. Nothing to do with mazaje's generosity or otherwise. It was just an average figure aimed at showing the basic lesson which mazaje understood. Giving or doing is not done only on the basis of ability. The reasoning was that if God is able, then He must do something, remember.
You keep bringing my mum into this, yet when i show you the sense, you'd get mad at me. God is good, take that to the bank.

mindurbiznes: Ok, due to possible translation gap, let's quote from "another" Bible, but still same Bible I guess:

Genesis4:25
International Standard Version:

Later on, after Adam had sexual relations
with his wife, she gave birth to a son and
named him Seth, because "God granted me
another offspring to replace Abel, since Cain
murdered him."

Genesis 5:4
International Standard Version:

Adam lived another 800 years, fathering
other sons and daughters after he had
fathered Seth.

This is just a tip of the ice....
Various translations with varied interpretation undecided

Gradually we'll go back to the topic of discussion, hopefully
The original has no 'after' rendering. i guess they were trying to help our understanding but it's not there.
That's the key to the topic of discussion.
