Christianity Etc › Re: God Allegedly Directed A Pastor To Divorce His Eloped Wife by Image123(m): 7:59pm On Sep 19, 2011
All most people are seeing is 15years. Can you see that he's lying against God and may equally be lying against his wife? If you want to follow God, follow God. If not, let it be clear. Where did God say divorce your wife and marry a divorcee if your wife left you for 15years? This pastor received instructions from God to marry a divorcee and divorce his wife of 34years and four children?
Which one is it, she left him without reason or she left him under the guise of visiting her parents?
He'll not listen to his children because he wants peace with himself and God? Ridiculous.
He's even got guts to say he doesn't know about her affairs and that he made his children who they are? Is this one a pastor or just one of those jokes?

Save your breath, my post was addressed ithink? If you don't have difficulties with retention and comprehension, you'd have noticed that i've mentioned cause and effect, sowing and reaping and co. And then Divine Intervention. If you don't believe in that, your qualms. I very much doubt you believe in the existence of satan, or of God, or on the reliability of the Bible. Abeg o, abeg, don't hijack my motive of contributing on the thread.

What are the proofs? Is there any evidence to show that christians that pray for protection from harm and misfortune are better protected from harm and misfortune than non christians that do not pray? Any evidence to show that christians that pray for healing from sickness recover faster than those that do not?. . . .What exactly are the evidence? If prayers truly work we WON'T be having this conversation. . . .
Go to church and hear testimonies of Divine Intervention, unbelieving mesaje.

Arsenal has lost again? Wenger is fast turning his new buys into his ilk, adjust to defeat. There's always an excuse, what's today's own? It's only against arsenal that keeper is outstanding, or opponent scored goal of the year. Wetin we don hear today o?

@globexyl
Cause and effect is not in debate. We all know about sowing and reaping, maybe some forget from time to time. What you're missing/ruling out is Divine Intervention. God intervenes in the affairs of men, there are living proofs everywhere.

ON the family accident. Whether we like to admit it or not, here on earth, we suffer for the consequences of other's actions. An innocent person can contact a communicable disease. If a father loses his job, people around him will suffer, perhaps more than him. A street may suffer because one man defrauds the whole street of the money contributed for power transformer. A country may suffer because someone failed to fix things. Men may suffer because Adam sinned. An accident is due to man's fallen state. It could range from loss of concentration to bad road to a drunken driver of another vehicle. While we may sometimes suffer accidents, accidents can sometimes be avoided, right? Listen to God always, walk in the Spirit. Many times we expect God to listen to us, but fail to listen to/for God. God could warn you, but you didn't listen and you say but i prayed, and He's saying but I was telling you. In His MERCIES, He may spare us. Sometimes He allows us, knowing that there's no temptation we may individually face that we can't overcome. God still keeps though, i'm a witness and so are many.

Having these in mind, ON child bearing or barreness of christian couples. It is not God's will for anyone to be barren. No one's recorded to have died barren in scriptures except for saul's daughter(known reasons). God created us productive and fruitful. Today though, we're more exposed as more power comes with more responsibility. Today we have Far more knowledge, and if you know that knowledge is power, then you'll know we have more responsibilities to shoulder. We live in a world of cause and effect. It behoves us to avoid the known causes of barreness, be on our feet to fight against the wiles of the devil(who's accusing us day and night), and to always Walk in the Spirit.
It's walking that'll help you know that a child is definitely coming like Abraham knew. It's walking that would prepare you and show that you're ready for God's gift of a child if you're asking a child from God. It's walking that gives you patience to receive.

Also to add especially on the cases of the couple looking for children, and the family with accident. I'll love to present a one answer fit all(many would) but each specific case has its specifics in answer, advice, comfort, direction etc.
God is faithful, first note. Second is that we live in this world and may not be totally immune to what happens in the world. God has told us that we will have tribulation in the world. He has promised us a better place where there's no pain or sorrow, which we await. He's provided us with a sort of by-pass in which we can experience joy unspeakable, peace above understanding, and perfect strength in weakness. These are out of this world features that we can enjoy as children of God. Knowing that all things work together for our good and that through all things we're more than conquerors, understanding, and perfect strength in weakness. These are out of this world features that we can enjoy as children of God. Knowing that all things work together for our good and that through all things we're more than conquerors,

It seems that you're not so smart like you've said. Why would you do fine in less than 1% and do poor in 99%. Atheism or agnostism is not a guarantee of 'doing fine', is it?

The so called pastor has heard from himself, not even the devil. Did he take marriage vows? Where are those that swear to their own hurt and change not? An endangered species. What did he do all this while when the wife was away, what took her away, is he even saying the truth? And one of his disciples/sympathizers, a divorcee, is the one he wants to marry. Why do people love to deceive themselves?

Christianity Etc › Re: When God Does Not Answer Your Prayers by Image123(m): 10:50am On Sep 16, 2011
Much has already been said, do permit me to add though,
"And WE KNOW that IN ALL THINGS God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28NIV). There are many facets to what we call unanswered prayers. Many times we miss it because we're not/we've not walked in the Spirit but in the flesh. Our relationship with God is similar to a parent-child relationship. It is also likened to a radio-channel relationship.
Stumbling blocks vary in various situations. Sometimes the block is so big it seems like a mountain to us. Sometimes, we're supposed to lift the block, other times, we should climb the mountain, other times, we should walk round and go away. But we usually stand quoting and scabbashing 'o God give me this mountain. This mountain must remove. O Lord God, you said . .
Let's walk in the Spirit.

MyJoe:
Yeah. You repeated what I already said. By the way, I wasn't referring to your post, since I think it is good you exposed plagiarism as you have apparently done. ("Apparently" because I have not clicked on the links to confirm for myself.) But once that was done there was hardly any need for re-revealing it without contributing anything to the thread. And in no way does the apparent plagiarism here vacate the issues raised, which Joagbaje, Chukwudi44 and Pastor AIO have faced squarely.
So you're talking to me ke e?
Anywhich way you look at any of God's Word, God is preached. The gospel is for the whole earth/world.
That's a contribution na. There has to be re-revealing so that defaultees will tremble and run. It's like one person shouting thief to a whole street shouting thief, there's a cooler effect in the later.

It sure is a bad thing to be copying and pasting without acknowledging your sources. But that does not on its own vacate op's ideas, does it? I have learnt some things from those who have addressed the ISSUES in op. So what do you think of this idea that the gospel accounts in the Bible were third-party accounts?
To be sincere MyJoe, i don't think of this idea. i already have what i need, plus you've already read from the thinkers and 'i think' they've done an ok job.

True talk. If everyone in every church and place is saying it, very good and effective. But unfortunately, many just think it's denomination doctrine, holy pass mentality. And most have remixed these songs for their choir presentations in a bid to entertain.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 11:39am On Sep 15, 2011
Our Today's passage presents us with these two possibilities. We love God, and God loves us, but there are conditions that service our love life. The conditions are keeping of God's commandments. There is no love without keeping God's commandments. Again, i'll say it, there is no love without obeying God's commandments! If we want to abide, stay, not wander from God's love, we need to learn His commandments and obey them.
Jesus says that we keep/obey EVEN AS He obeyed/kept. Jesus obeyed God's commandments diligently, perfectly and passionately. He is the epitome of true love. If we say we love God, let us follow Jesus also.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 11:35am On Sep 15, 2011
September 15         (John 15:10)

If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.

God's love for us is unparalleled. It is incomparable, and not fully describable. It is God's love that keeps us alive. It is God's love that blesses us, and saves us. It is God's love that protects us and provides for us. Have you ever been in love? To love someone, your parent, your child, your brother, your sister, your friend, even your neighbourhood.
God is in love with us. And not just that, God is Love. There is no true love outside God. It is God that balances, completes and perfects every love equation. It is possible to love today and not to love tomorrow. That's evident in failed marriages around us. It is also possible to love forever, as in the live happily ever after scenario.

^i understand your 'fairness'. But let me perhaps take the 'hit' from you before some atheist/unbeliever hits you bad. Knowledge from the Word of God tells us that God made evil. It's somewhere in Isaiah. And He does allow evil. Tribulation is evil, and He told us we would have tribulation. Poverty is evil and sickness is evil. I'm mentioning general evils and we know God permits /allows these. Why He does is what i think is being discussed.
Christianity Etc › Re: If God Sees All, He Know Adam Was Going To Sin So Why Did He Create Man? by Image123(m): 11:40am On Sep 14, 2011
tEsLim:
Because god is silly he didn't think before creating man. He f*cked up , why should he regret he created man? A real god can't or should/wouldn't regret. Obviously this nullifies is omni-references.

I'll repeat this from my previous post

"
But if God already knows the future, then humanity is destined to corroborate with his knowledge of the future and not have true free will to deviate from it. Therefore our ‘free will’ contradicts an omniscient god. As it means that I can do things to SURPRISE God. Lol And Gawd will open is mouth and say HA!!!! Na Wa oh! Even him will say “God dey sha” because something must have created God and there will be God of Gods xxxxx …. ad infinitum.

It is logically impossible to have omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, transcendence and omnibenevolence in one package. This is logically contradictory, incomprehensible, or absurd, and therefore the existence of such a god is a priori false.
"
Hope you've passed your o'level english? Humans and God are not in the same class/realm. That a ten year old elephant cannot understand that 1+1=2 doesn't mean there's nothing like 1+1. It simply shows that YOU are not omniscient.
Christianity Etc › Re: Who Were Those Cain Was Referring To? by Image123(m): 11:28am On Sep 14, 2011
There's nothing deep about Cain. It's as simple as what's in the Bible and that can be deduced. We are all products of Adam and Eve. Call am incest or insect, na you talk am. The children of Israel are also products of brother Abraham and his sister Sarah. There's nothing to be ashamed of in it and there was no stated law against it. There's time for everything. There was a time i sucked my mother's breast. If i did that now, it would be v.wrong.

Actually, the standard should be "A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children." (Proverbs 13:22a). Isaac, David, Jesus, Timothy were all under their parent's guidance for a rather long while. It's unfortunate that our culture and other excuses like economy place us vice versa. In our case today, most parent are dependent and demanding on the children.

The whoevers were also descendants of Adam and Eve just like Cain. Eve is rightly called the mother of ALL living.
