@Image123, If your interpretation of remaining 90% not being with me is that I have spent it then so be it as I owe you no explanation on how I choose to employ my finances.
I will not descend to your level and start exchanging words with you cos I just read through a few of your empty posts. You are just not worth it.
CONFIRMED.

My lazy stubborn trouble-seeking me refused to read through, but what i've already deduced is that it seems people love their friends and family more than God today. They want to give 'God's money' to their friends o!

See confusion everywhere. Man never wants to accept the fact that he has an evil streak inside of him thats everlasting. He is also good. If you fail to realize that, there will be inconsistencies in your life and in your beliefs just like we see here today.
The Bible tells us plainly that there's 'an evil streak' in every human. And we cannot dust it off, or do away with it on our own. Our hope/joy is that Christ Jesus saves us from this evil, He's got the power.

am sincerely grateful to most of the posters here and cannot but wonder if some other posters read my post at all before their comment or perhaps they are replying to another post they read in possibly the auto section.

Why would I contemplate helping him from 10% tithe if I still have the 90% with me?

I read through every single post on this thread and I am happy I asked this questn rather than do what I think is right which may continue ringing in my head later.

Many thanks to you guys.
Ah, our OP himself! It's a pleasure(methinks). i hope though, irrespective of whatever decision you took/will take, that it rang in your eyes that you're a greedy, covetous hypocrite who should repent of his hypocrisy? Mind you, i didn't say repent of giving or not giving tithe, but repent of your hypocrisy.
Before your sympathy voters descend, let me add this. Plan your life better in future. Today is 3RD! 3RD of October. Tomorrow's the 1st official working day if you're a salary earner. Seems you're salary earner about to tithe on the 1st Sunday(2nd October). You've spent 90% by 2nd October? And you knew you wanted to help a family out of job for two years? Help yourself ehn. The plan's to love your neighbour as yourself, pele.1st official working day if you're a salary earner. Seems you're salary earner about to tithe on the 1st Sunday(2nd October). That's missing the point - if he has already set aside the 10%, God accepts using 'his money'  to help the needy and he should feel free to do so.  No one is saying the 10% would do the job - you don't refuse to assist someone because you think your assistance doesn't solve the problem completely. The man needs help now, give what you can - that's all a person can do.

It is ALL God's money - God gives everything so this artificial division doesn't exist - anything he gives the man is God's money, and since he's already set aside this 10%, he can use it in a way God approves of - helping your brother in need.

I repeat - this artificial elevation of giving to the church above giving to those in need is very wrong. The church is made up of people - if you give to a member of the church, you have given to the church. It's really that simple.

The money in my hands, isn't it God's money?
I am here asking for your advise because I ended up not dropping the tithe and I am still holding on to it hoping to give it to that brother to settle part of his children school fees so they can get back to school. I would av loved to assist him from another source but wat i av left is not even enof for my monthly transportation cost not to talk of some other needs I am yet to meet.
Poster said in title that he's "Tempted to assist a family with GOD'S MONEY(TITHE)". He clearly makes a distinction. 90% or as he calls it 'another source' is what he thinks to be his, and it's not enough for his 'transport and other needs'. I wonder who in this world has money enough for his transport and other needs. If he wants to help, he should truly help and stop been hypocritical and greedy about it. He can sacrifice, no? Sebi na him be good sam.
Since to 'you', it's all God's money, it lends more credence as to why he can use the other 90% of God's money. He takes some part, give out some part, and give 'God' some part of God's money, shikena. Candid advice.

Lol.
People shouldn't use other people's money to give tithe. Use ya money, it's ya own. Don't use government's money(tax) or debts. Give government their money, give 'God' his money, give your creditor his money. Use your money to help the poor. You can even donate it all to motherless babies, but use your own money. Why would someone not want to touch his money but want to use other's money to help people. It's just like our politicians using the others' money to help their friends and family.

I don't think it's been missed - I think the poster was saying he already struggles to make ends meet with what he has left after deducting 'tithes'. The issue here is that if he has already decided to sacrifice that portion of his income for God, there is no better usage than helping the person next to you - God considers that way more important than some 'religious' exercise of 'tithing' into a church.

That is what is being missed by those I have deemed 'religious' folk - I have no issues with those choosing to give tithe to their local assemblies, but it is very wrong to elevate that beyond meeting the pressing needs of your fellow human being. This warped thinking is what is causing issues in today's churches.

Giving to the church should ostensibly be for improving the lot of both the members and those less privileged elsewhere. By giving directly to his brother, it fulfils the same purpos quickly without the admin and time delay that going through the church might introduce.
His 10% would do the job, but his 90% won't? Commoooon. He'd die if he had 80% for himself this month?
The point is that nobody's saying he shouldn't help others. Its about 2am early this morning and i dont know what i am doing awake only to come on Nairaland. My brother, take heed. From the advice i've seen so makes me to believe that this people don't pay their tithes, WHAT BELONGS TO GOD SHOULD BE GIVEN TO GOD WITHOUT COMPROMISE, NEVER TRY TO HELP GOD BECAUSE HIS THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS. THERE WAS A PART IN THE OLD TESTAMENT WHERE THE ARK OF GOD WAS BEING CARRIED, THE ARK WANTED TO FALL DOWN AND ONE CERTAIN MAN SAW IT, HE WENT AHEAD OUT OF HIS GOODWILL TO PREVENT THE ARK FROM FALLING. AND BECAUSE HE TOUCHED IT, HE WAS STRUCK DEAD IMMEDIATELY. Why? BECAUSE HE WANTED TO HELP GOD, NOTE the ways of men are not the ways of God, GOD sees that mans needs, he wants to be glorifield and until that time is right before he does a miracle, When Jesus was in the boat and the wind was stormy, Did he not know that it was stormy, yet he was sleeping, It was until when peter went to wake him that he stood up and commanded the wind to be still. HAS GOD COMMANDED YOU TO GIVE YOUR TITHE TO YOUR NEIGHBOUR? WELL, DO NOT ROB GOD AND SHORTEN HIS HANDS IN YOUR LIFE, GOD IS A MIRACULOUS GOD. HE SEES IT ALL, HE DOESN'T HAVE TO COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN TO ASSIT MEN, HE CAN SEND HIS ANGELS TO PROVIDE THAT MAN'S NEEDS, AFTERALL, ANGELS FED ELIJAH. And Angels assisted so many other people in the bible. BE STILL AND TRUST IN GOD BRO, YOU HAVE A GOOD MIND. DONT HELP GOD BECAUSE YOU CANT HELP YOUR CREATOR.

Frontpage and generating a lot of noise, maybe'll come back later. But i had to respond at least to these who should know better. Fortunately, the OP's not asking whether it's right to tithe or not. He says tithe is God's money.
The issue is that OP says 10% of his money can cater for his friend's need and help with school fees. He has this 90% that's not enough for his transport and himself. How the whole crowd's missing that is alarming. i'll repeat, the OP is a selfish hypocrite just like those sending him sympathy votes.

He has 100%. He piously takes out 10% for his god. 90% is not enough for even his transport, not to mention his royal's other needs. Don't even consider him taking out of his 90% as he's greatly tried for his god parting with 10. God can wait now, is it not him, He understands, let him wait for next time, the poor are dying.

seriously i was once caught up in that web of believing that once i ask for forgiveness of my sins everything would be wiped off and i will be allowed to start afresh.
so i was gladly doing my thing hurting people around me and always remembering to ask for forgiveness after each bad deed so that if anything happens i will go straight to heaven.
then things started happening. i started noticing that when i hurt people life finds a way to hurt me back and i thought i was a victim. i started asking why? then i discovered first hand what Jesus really meant when he said that God is not mocked and that whatever a man soweth so shall he reap. that reaping, that judgement starts here and now.

what ever you throw into life is exactly what life throws at you. people forget that they are the cause of whatever is happening in their life and they call the devil or point to another person as the cause. we have to learn to take total responsibility for our lives. that is the beginning of spiritual maturity.
The message in God's Word is Repent AND believe the gospel. Not just repent, not just believe, but the two. Believing God has forgiven you without repenting is wrong, and repenting without believing is wrong also. It's self reformation/improvement.
God's looking for a relationship with us, not our taking total responsibility. Self dependence is soulish, not a mark of spiritual maturity.

mazaje. i dey wait for your answer o!

Meanwhile,

You are not throwing any light on anything just deluding your self with very cheap apologetics. . . .
You sound frustrated, sorry. The post was directed to those who 'truly need it'.

Only that what you have stated is NOT what is written in the bible but what your mind wants you to see. . . .Here it is once again. . .Its was a warning against the men of Israel who do not want to obey Yahweh. . . . .

Leviticus 26:21-22
" 'If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve. 22 I will send wild animals against you, and they will rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and make you so few in number that your roads will be deserted.

I will go with what the bible says against your baseless opinion and la la la interpretation, that is only bent on spinning what was written down to explain absurdity away. . . .
Come again? This was what you wanted all to believe below
Send wild animals to kill people's babies for failing to obey, eh?. . . . . .Good justice. . . .
And i made it clearer that it's not only babies but everybody. This is simple context, i don't think you require revelation for this one na, i may be wrong in this thought sha. Here's what i said again. Always note the bolded, there are reason for emboldening, not just decoration.
When it says 'children', it's not fully the idea of babies as mazaje is trying to pass across, to win emotional points. 'Your children' broadly refers to anybody in Israel who is a child of Israel. And anybody in this case is basically EVERYBODY as they were all 'children' of Israel.

'Children' in this context does not refer to only babies. See for instance,
Gen 11:5  And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.
Exodus 12:26  And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
Exodus 14:15  And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

The people in the passage above could well be men, not necessarily babies. It's context. You go along with a myopic, dogmatic "I will go with what the bible says". Nothing makes you different from the religious 'hotheads' except your religion. Why don't you go with what the Bible says here for instance and quit your hypocrisy;
Deuteronomy 32:4  He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

How's this for justice? Picking one verse, and ignoring the rest of the passage, chapter, book or Bible? Look at Leviticus 26 for instance,

Leviticus 26:3  If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
He then presents the good things (blessings) for them. Amongst the promises are increase, fruitfulness, vintage, safety, respect, establishment, fellowship, etc. They were in a covenant. There are terms and conditions attached to a covenant/agreement. From buying a sim card to a modem, to admission into an institution, organisation, or country, there are terms, dos and don'ts that you sign. Two parties signed/ratified/agreed to something, some ignorant fellow comes in 2011 yapping about justice. There's been no better deal than God's deal with man, don't bite yourself.
So then we have: Lev 26:14  But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;
And then follows the punishments and judgements for breach. Amongst it is

Leviticus 26:22  I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.
The wild beasts was/were going to ravage their children(which could broadly mean their descendants whether old/young), their livestock(cattle there is not just a specie of cows), and they themselves, making them few in number. the judgement was to affect EVERYBODY like i previously said. When you narrowly say 'babies', you miss the point and cause other readers to miss the full perspective.

What are you saying here that children  drink and refuse to obey their parents deserve to be to be stoned to death?. . . .Is that what you are saying?. . . .
Here's what i said. It's not hausa(and even you understand hausa)
Poor generalisation and blindness as usual. Obvious sentimental linking of children to babies, where neither wasn't even directly mentioned. You seem to have deleted the bolded(S) from your own conclusion, abi you picked and chose?
And i emboldened some part of that passage thus.
Deuteronomy 21:18-21
"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, 19then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, 20and they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard. Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

Your understanding of this passage was "Disobedient children must be stoned to death. . . .Good justice. . . ."
In other words, this is what you read in that passage.

If a man has a son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, 19then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, 20and they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This our son will not obey our voice'. Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

i'd be least surprised if you can't spot the difference between the two i.e the real passage and what you read(picked and chose) from the passage.

Only that refusing to obey the verdict of the supreme court will not get you killed here. . . . .
Almost nothing can get you killed these days. We live in a confused society who'd bashfully do away with all forms of punishment whether corporal, capital or whatever. And it's working very fine, right? No more crime, no more hate, theft, wickedness etc. We've found the perfect solution.  Give yourself a pat on the back.

So worshiping other Gods is treason eh?. . . .Why do you guys get angry when muslims kill you for worshiping other Gods or kill others for apostasy?. . . .It is treason in the eyes of their God,  and hence justifiable, no?. . .
Silly conclusion. Did you see the bolded? "entices you secretly to serve other gods". There's no where in that passage saying kill followers of other religion. Gosh! Even the Pharisees understood better than you. The Israelites were not going about killing everbody that's not a jew. they had/and still have Godless neighbours. And when you come to the new testament/covenant/agreement, Jews and Gentiles are broadly involved, and nobody's encouraged to condemn any other person. Only God is Judge. the new covenant stopped all forms of killings more than 2000years ago. Civilisation is still struggling to pass it into law till date. A couple hundred years ago, capital punishment was still okay in the eyes of civilisation, you've missed the train.

Just to throw some light on these, especially for the benefit of those who truly need it.

Let's see some of the justice that are in the bible. .

Send wild animals to kill people's babies for failing to obey, eh?. . . . . .Good justice. . . .
Of all places, it's Leviticus 26 you had to look for in thousands of Bible chapters and verses, in order to find justice. Anyway, to put some perspective, Leviticus 26 was addressed to the Israelites(i.e the children of Israel). Lev 25:2  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them
When it says 'children', it's not fully the idea of babies as mazaje is trying to pass across, to win emotional points. 'Your children' broadly refers to anybody in Israel who is a child of Israel. And anybody in this case is basically everybody as they were all 'children' of Israel. It's easier though to even defend the 'babies' thing, but it's good we see a clearer and truer perspective.

Disobedient children must be stoned to death. . . .Good justice. . . .

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death.  Such evil must be purged from Israel.  (Deuteronomy 17:12 )

Obey the priest or be killed. . . Interesting. . . .
This is poor, and showing an attempt not to learn anything new. i guess the people who refuse to listen to the verdict of the supreme court should do as they please, right? That's the way you people do it in denmark ba?
The priest was basically a judge in Israel. They were considered higher in rank than mere judges.

Deuteronomy 17:9  And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall show thee the sentence of judgment:
Malachi 2:7  For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
Haggai 2:11  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law

If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him.  Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you.  You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.  And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst.  (Deuteronomy 13:7-12)

Kill followers of other religion even if they are members of your family. . . .Good justice. . . .

Very true only those that seek the lord understand justice. . . . .Try just a quarter of the laws of justice written in the bible and you will be in prison for the rest of your life or killed if you live in societies that accept capital punishment. . .
Did you notice the bolded, or you picked and chose as is becoming your custom? Ever heard of the word 'treason' before? What was and what is the punishment for treason where you know? Even the unjust judge seems to fare better than you mr.

Ha? So it's safe to conclude that you'd bury a thousand dead babies if in your care?

Lol @d above.
@OP
Of course animals talk, they got their language just like humans have their different language. Those who keep animals do a little bit of communication with them.
Animal language is on a different wave length to ours though. Same with other senses like sight, smell, hearing, touch. For instance, it appears that dogs see stuff like spirits from little experience with them. In paradisa, i'm expecting God'll put us all in the same wavelength, just like He did briefly for Balaam and his friend, and Adam, Eve and the serpent.
