@thehomer
So you wish to keep evading? That's fine.
You're evading the question of which of whether or not a particular punishment was humane.
Okay, thanks for your patience. As to your 'evading' query, well it's up to you, or better still "that's fine". i believe that i've answered you, maybe you don't like my answer as usual. It's like someone asking me 'what's your name?' It's at my discretion that i'll answer the question as simple as it sounds, especially when the question is not too relevant. You're asking why don't God for instance punish a sinner by sending him to jail or doing community service(A) instead of killing him(B). You believe A is a better option than B, and i've told you there are other options, and different marking schemes. Why for instance have you turned a blind eye on the option of forgiving the repentant sinner which God does and is still doing? Why do you fail to see beyond you and i agreeing together? I've told you that our agreement or disagreement is not what matters but God's stand/standard.
Proverb 11:21  Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Have used different scenarios, models and examples(that's what most 'science' is based on) to show you that humans have varying and changing values, standards and judgements even in little time frames and dependent on person and place. Do begin to realise that humans are not robots or computers, the same input doesn't always produce the same output.
How does God's standards guide us?
Human standards are not dependable, because again, one man's poison is another's meat. Rulers, heads, governments change. they determine standards, so the law/standards become subject to the dictates of who's presently in charge. One man thinks its okay to have marry anyone, the other doesn't. One man thinks a person should not have more than a certain amount of property, the other doesn't. One man thinks sleeping with animals is a hideous crime, the other thinks its his right. One man thinks the rich should be robbed/milked to feed others, the other man doesn't. one man thinks women should not be educated, the other doesn't. At the end, we're not all agreed on what's right and what's wrong. But when we're all looking at the same thing, coming from God i.e the Word of God, His Word guides us. His Word is the final arbiter showing us what is truly wrong/right.
it's like a set of people seeking employment. they need to know what the organization requires, so that they can prepare and present themselves in line with what is required. In this case, the organisation is Heaven. Anyone who wants to get to heaven wants to do the right/good. It's not each individual's feelings of what is good or bad that matters, but the Owner of Heaven's criteria. that's why we need His standards to guide us, so that we don't come up on interview day with the wrong requirements.
Oh yes. but in this case it's not just mine, but humanity in general.
I've addressed this above. After this short time on earth, there's an endless eternity to follow. not only that, we live on God's earth and are God's creatures so He's the boss, not 'humanity'.
This is why humanity as a whole abhors slavery but God advices us on how to treat slaves.
humanity as a whole abhors slavery? you're lying here. Many others are of another opinion. If you live in nigeria for instance, you might see or hear of slaves. because they call them some other glorified or'humane' name doesn't mean they are not. Many world leaders would forever keep their citizens in perpetual slavery for the love of money and power.
SLAVE: 1.  somebody forced to work for another: somebody who is forced to work for somebody else for no payment and is regarded as the property of that person
2.  dominated person: somebody who is dominated by somebody or by something
3.  somebody accepting another's rule: somebody who meekly accepts being ruled by somebody else
4.  very hard worker: somebody who works hard, in bad conditions, and for low pay
Microsoft® Encarta® 2008. © 1993-2007 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

I don't understand your "God advices us on how to treat slaves" part. Can you be more specific?
My goodness. Have you actually read your Bible? Do you not know that God made a decree "Thou shalt not kill" but encouraged "his people" to commit genocide, he helped others kill "his people" and he sometimes went ahead and killed other people? Please read your Bible. How many perspectives can one view genocide?
i've said and will say again that it's either "you do not understand what you've read, or you're looking from the wrong perspective". It'll help you to realise that the world is not in a state of utopia. You can't put tongue in cheek and say that God's people should not have a military/army/defence. Or that there should be no judgement or punishment but forgiveness unlimited since God is a loving and merciful God. that's a very poor understanding of God. God is also just and righteous. When God says 'thou shalt not kill', you should know He's for instance not saying don't kill plants and animals for food or something. he's not saying don't kill cockroaches and mosquitoes, rats and lizards in your living room. He's saying do not kill your fellow human being, that is of your own volition, irrespective of what he does, he has a right to life like you, you do not own him, neither can you create him. this is different from a case of judgement. The Israelites didn't take judgement to their hands like jungle people. Judgement was decided by judges. Judgement is different from personal revenge or will. Judgement involved judges and witnesses, and was approved by God. Today, in our law courts, i'm aware that it's not a crime to kill another in the case of self defence?
i think genocide is a crime? if it is, then the Israelites cannot be accused of commiting a crime. One, because it was not a crime by law until 1944 or so. Two, because they were ordered by the law giver Himself i.e they had express permission to carry out judgement on the said people. If you want to, we can discuss more/expressly on these 'crimes' with you making definite pointings, maybe in another thread?
Actually, the human system we have is very good and actually better than what God has written in the Bible.
As usual, we have different/varying human systems from place to place and country to country, like the Barbarian system, the hitler system, the Gaddaffi system, the MEND system, the Nigerian system, the UN system etc. The best of human system usually has its roots in the Bible by the way.
This is why owning other humans is a crime.
Do you know how many nigerian men own their wives and daughters legally?
Do you know that some governments own their citizens?
How many ways can one understand how to go into a town, kill all males (old, young, infant etc), kill all females who have had intercourse with anyone (how can they tell), but keep the young virgins (guess their ages) for yourselves. Oh and make sure the priests get their cut of the virgins too.
Please enlighten me as to the reason for your saying so.
You like to ask a lot of questions all at once sha, sorry you. It's the state of the fallen man, he's confused until Jesus brings him real peace. While i can answer all these questions, i know more will continue to come from you. the only One who truly satisfies is God, He's the only One whom you can drink from and thirst no more. Like they say, human needs are insatiable. We've talked a bit about judgement and punishment. God wants repentance and forgiveness, he offers you repentance and forgiveness. i've told you, this world is not a utopia, people die, people fight. If God says kill everybody, you complain. If He says spare some, you still complain. Even if He says don't kill again till judgement day, you're still complaining.
When victors spare captives, it's not only for marriage or to sleep with them. i understand the society we live in and the way they think. Naaman in the Bible, (a syrian i think) had a female captive, joseph was a slave in a strange land. So also, Esther, Daniel and his three friends. All these people were not sleeping toys or something as you may be thinking. You need a dip in the blood of Jesus and a renewed mind.
Well, that was a comparison and not an explanation.
stop being chidish. It was an explanation.
My goodness so you think that because science doesn't do 100% proofs makes it incorrect? It seems you really have a long way to go when it comes to understanding how science works. I'll just let you know that the device you're using to surf the web and the devices used to study the cosmos have the same thought processes behind them.
No, i don't think that because science doesn't do 100% proofs makes it incorrect. I said that your reason why the solar system is the way it currently is, is so unscience. It's so full of probabilities, suppositions and hypothesis. I told you to refresh yourself on the meaning of the words i highlighted from your link. The whole story you treasure is popularly called by scientists themselves as  nebular HYPOTHESIS. So many 'may have's, 'suggest that's, 'thought to's. Nothing committed or definite. We can't build the reason why the solar system is the way it currently is on simulations brova. We need evidence. Plus don't be dumb enough to think that all scientists don't believe in God. Most of those devices, thought processes and laboratories are done and occupied by people who believe that a God exists and who are honest enough to tell us that their works are simulations, hypothesis and models and estimated projections. Why you choose to make an idol of them is what is embarrasing. Talking about understanding how science works? i thank God i'm no stranger, and we have practising scientists who believe in God on this board aplenty.
Christianity Etc › Re: Today's Rhema (God's gifts to men). by Image123(op): 11:21am On Apr 08, 2011
So, we've been considering th crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Jesus was betrayed by His close friend, Judas Iscariot.
Psalm 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
They were so close that even when Christ told His disciples plainly of who was to betray Him, they still couldn't imagine it, less believe it.
John 13:26 Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
John 13:28 Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.
John 13:29 For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

But He was betrayed and beaten for no reason at all. Pilate asked that He should be beaten thinking after that, the people would be appeased and allow Jesus' release.
John 19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
John 19:3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
John 19:4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
John 19:5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

When Jesus was beaten, He was beaten by soldiers. The chief priests imprisoned Him and smote Him. He was terribly wounded in the body. Have you ever seen a thief beaten by a mob, or a 'witch' flogged. Jesus took more than that. the marks were everywhere and stinging on His sweat.
His fever ran high for, with the weight of His whole body hanging unsupported on the cross, His blood could not circulate freely. He was extremely thirsty and therefore cried out, "Psalm 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death."
Psalm 69:21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
Have you ever been thirsty, very thirsty? In thirst, even 'soft drinks' would not do but water. Jesus the Creator of heaven and earth, the master of the Oceans and Seas, He became thirsty because of us. He thirsted that we may not have to beg for a drop of water to cool our tongue in hell. Jesus' love is very wonderful, and I love Him too. Do you?

Talk about asking the right questions. Were you a certain poster that started this thread to mock some 'christian' prediction on the end of the earth? Now you're reminded to behave well, seeing that 'science' own shot at predicting the end of the earth is comical. So it's time to shift the goal post, sorry the match has already ended, no basis.
Plus, the Bible is the Word of God, a more sure Word of prophecy, not to be compared to some relative unknown 'unbiblical christian' prophecy. Such trivialities don't affect the christian faith.

prophecy is not a mainstay in christianity. It is ONE of the gifts of the Spirit like you said. A wrong or false prophecy, even a correct or true prophecy WILL NOT affect the true foundation of christianity.

Hahahahaha, Say 'sure, it's bolder than my science gods'. I already told you about the prudence anyway. But i trust you'll not listen but you're excitedly in wait to falsely lambaste God, who you weirdly don't believe exist!
5billion years, i should work on prophesying in that direction. Saying thehomer may be explored as crude oil in that year.

Keep ticking in vain. The Bible doesn't give a date, and i as a christian do not agree with the date. But at least it's a bolder take than the one your science gods told us that the solar system MAY be destroyed in some TRILLION years.

@thehomer
This is why I advised you to not sound so ignorant.
Make a specific reference to that 'ignorant' sound that you've been hearing please. Quote me, link me or something.
Here is a single reference for one of the events mentioned. Please simply type in what you wish to know. Google is your friend.
the 'here' link has the similar weaknesses of the first. It's very unscience. HISTORY of supernovas observation. Like i've earlier said, "No one can observe stars forming and getting annihilated regularly through a telescope". Let me remind you that you talked of 'stars forming and getting annihilated regularly', and you linked this amazing revelation with telescopes. Let me quote some phrases from the guessmania link you gave.
Successful MODELS of supernova have also been developed.
Supernova explosion that formed Gum Nebula MOST LIKELY occured 10000 - 20000 years ago.
NASA astronomers SUGGESTED
MAY HAVE ALSO POSSIBLY BEEN (This one takes the cake like a bully)
is suspected
Additional UNCONFIRMED supernova events
The appearance of star deterrmined its only 7100 light years from the earth (This kind of bogus claims are set to deceive a majority of readers and learners. They continue to subtly avoid to definitely use 'formation'. Many will take the word 'appearance' and join it as formation. That the star appeared on a telescope doesn't prove that it was just formed. Any thing can block the view. Plus 7100 light years is not ONLY, 1 light year is 10 trillion kilometers!)
The most recent supernova seen in the milky way galaxy was in 1604 (i thought you said stars form and get annihilated regularly?)
Supernovas are rare. A galaxy may experience one exploding star in a century ('regularly' gets a new name. It's safe to say nonsense 'may have possibly beens' in the lab once you're a white man connected to the internet)
For my source, see here definition number 7.
Thanks for the link. Definition number 7, why did n't you take the definition that they took from the Bible now?
No we're not saying the same thing. You may say you do not know the shape of the earth.
It's a win-win for what i'm saying. If i said i do not know the shape of the earth, or that i thought that the earth is flat (like those guys in the flatearth society that i told you of), then i'll add to the number of literates who are unaware of a fact. I said that that many do not agree to/or are unaware of something i.e God does not make it/Him unreal.
The fact that you do not know does not mean that nobody knows because there is demonstrable evidence on the shape of the earth.
oh oh, you earlier said "the claim of a Creator is in dispute as many do not accept the creator". that you do not know does not mean that nobody knows. Billions have shown demonstratable evidence in things not seen.
Yet another attempt to confuse the issues at hand. You wish to make another yams to apples comparison.
Who says punishment is not punishment? Because that would be the implications of what you've been saying.
Ah ah, thehomer? it's bad enough that peter denied Jesus. You're about to deny yourself here oh!
Are you not the one seeking to establish that there is HUMANE punishment and INHUMANE punishment ke? Who says punishment is not punishment? THEHOMER
You are yet to explain how popularity makes something divine. This claim is simply a fallacy that you need to rectify.
Its popularity is ONE reason, i've mentioned others. You kept referring to the popularity in a bid to compare it to michael jackson, harry potter and the quran. I've shown you the gap. The Bible is a distant almost embarrassing first. In terms of nationality, age of readers, gender, translations in various language, consider the number of english versions alone. No normal book can command such attention, dedication and devotion. i remember reading some time ago about available manuscript copies of old popular books. i looked for this data, this is what i read then, you compare this gap.
Author/work                      earliest copy found                                           number of manuscripts found
Caesar                               900 A.D                                                            10
Plato                                  900 A.D                                                              7
Aristotle                             1100 A.D                                                           49
Illiad                                   400 B.C                                                            643
Tacitus                                1100 A.D                                                           20
New Testament Bible          125 A.D                                                            more than 24,000

No controversy, the difference is clear. Apart from the Bible's indefatigable popularity as proof of it's divinity, i'll restate again briefly some other reasons why i believe it to be divine.
The preservation through the ages. Many good books written ten, twenty years ago are no where today. Some written 100years ago may only be found in a museum or through educational efforts of including it in the list of books to be used by students. Kingdoms have tried to destroy the Bible. Men in high place have tried to limit the Bible, it continues to break barriers till tomorrow.
The superiority over other books. It's insight into so many issues of life, given even the time it was written. it talks so about almost any sphere one can think of, and so accurately for that matter. Most other books are based on the Bible.
the influence on the world. The Bible is the root of civilisation. Every civilised country today have at one time regarded the Bible highly, or have been trained/colonised by nations who regarded the Bible highly, and built their structure on principles found in the Bible. people continue going back to the Bible for more. it doesn't matter if you've been reading it since you were ten years old. Even at 80, men are still studying this book. Atheists usually make sure they have a copy. Even staunch members of other religions don't feel complete without possessing at least a copy. Some people have 20 translations in the english language and are still looking for more.
The  unity of the Bible.  66 books, one author, one theme, more than 1000years of writing. even 20 years of science literature cannot boast that.
The freshness of the Bible. There's life in the Bible. you can keep reading the same chapter every Sunday and still going home 'blessed'. you may read a verse today, and you're almost as if you've never read it before. the life it brings, the hope, the peace, the faith, the joy. It's a remarkably divine book. People read it an d say they're not going to steal again, or prostitute again. People read it, and resign their jobs to 'serve God'. Sick people read it and get well. People read it and begin to make restitutions. people read it and get to Heaven, from death into life.
Brighter Grammar actually is a more valuable book. I still don't understand how reading a book daily makes it divine. You really need to work on making relevant arguments.
Is there any book that you have that you read every day?
No. Faith is a terrible vice that must be avoided. It aids poor thinking and judgement.
But you've demonstrated immense faith in science, even on this thread. Every man has faith. It's just that it can be abused or misused. Use the facts, don't struggle with the facts.
The fall of man? Who pushed man down? Who failed to teach man? You're simply mixing metaphors above. Heart in mouth idicates fear, heart on sleeve is one with open emotions, take heart is encouragement etc.
What you're talking about is still not clear.
Man fell when he first came short of the glory of God in Eden. 'The fall of man' is a common phrase in the christian circle. Who pushed him, maybe himself, maybe devil, maybe a combo. Who failed to teach man? No one. The heart is the inside man, the spirit. like i said, i'm not dwelling on this.
Firstly, Nebuchadnezzer never ruled South Africa, China, Japan, Australia, North America and South America.
Did i say he did?
I thought you said the Greek empire was the fourth so it was the fourth and at the same time the British and Mongol Empires? You simply wish to make stuff up as you go along.
Then there's the fact that the British Empire and the Mongol Empire were different Empires and not different arms of the same empire.
prophecy 101 is really giving you tough time ba? Sorry. Here's a recap of what i said.
Nebuchadnezzar saw a huge image/statue with a golden head, a silver chest and arms, brass belly and thigh, iron legs, and feets of iron and clay.
1. Head of gold- Babylon
2. Silver chest and arms- Midian-Persia
3. Brass belly and thigh- Greece
4. Iron legs- Rome
5. Feets of Iron and Clay- Other kingS/kingdoms.
Finally, according to the "prophesy" you quoted, God's empire should have already been in action especially when we consider that we've already done away with the concept of empires.
It says Daniel 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
We do still have world powers today. Call them empires, kingdoms, wold powers, G 2011, G 16, protectorate, realm. All these kings are the feet of iron and clay that cannot cleave or unite until God's kingdom/Jesus comes.
Revelation 22:7  Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the saying of the prophecy of this book.
Be patient and prepared, He's coming soon.
No because this is not his region of expertise.
But it's your region of expertise, or whose exactly?
Christianity Etc › Re: If God Is So Forgiving And Loving Why Did He Feel It Necessary To Create Hell? by Image123(m): 2:46pm On Apr 05, 2011
@thehomer
Yet another evasion to a direct question
i said judgements are relative from one person to another. my preferences may be similar to yours. That's not the point. The point is that judgements are relative from individual to individual, and even from time to time or person to person in each individual. man is created in the image of God, not as a robot. And we thank God for His standards that guide us.
I know you consider God's judgements to be holy and righteous but under appropriate examination, the arbitrariness is exposed.
And your examination must be this 'appropriate' examination? Spare me the comedy please.
It is generally improper to accuse a discussant of outright lying without presenting some strong evidence for this.
This below is the lie you said
"God breaks his laws, he encourages his people to break these laws too and sometimes carries out these same laws on his people. So you see, God himself is also inconsistent."
That's the evidence of your lies. And i've said that it's either "you do not understand what you've read, or you're looking from the wrong perspective."
in God's case, he acts as arbitrary law giver, judge, jury, executioner and tormentor or he aids and abets the tormentor.
The human system of judgement which you seem to hold in high esteem is not perfect but has to be reviewed from time to time. God's judgement are true, holy and righteous. Billions and trillions of angels are in support, not to mention the Trinity, the saints, and people who believe in the existence of a God. God can use anyone to perform His judgement. if you've read the Bible, you'll have seen Him use angels, heathen kings, nature, animals, His people, even satan the devil. When i say you're lying, or that maybe you do not understand what you've read, there's a reason why i say so.
My point is that this comparison is inappropriate because ethical considerations are not physical. Or do you have a way of measuring honesty?
i didn't hope to make it a comparison, but an explanation as to why we need standards, not just every man as he likes or feels.
I'll advice you to look it up. I've included a link here to enable you get started.
Thanks for the link. Its nothing new. So that's the "an explanation of the reason why the solar system is the way it currently is". You know, i'll repeat it that you have a lot of faith. For me, i'll be ashamed to actually read and believe what's written there. You should remind your self, maybe through that wiki dictionary, of the meaning of these words 'HYPOTHESIS, THEORY, ASSUMPTION and POSTULATION'. It would help your future. Let me quickly quote some statements that can be found in that link below. Do note very importantly that even science says that man started on earth less than 10, 000 years ago. Blue words are mine.
Formation and evolution of the solar system is ESTIMATED to have begun 4.568billion years ago with the (gravitational) COLLAPSE of a small part of a giant molecular cloud. This by the way is what is called nebular HYPOTHESIS
The position of the PLANETS often shifted and planets switched places. (i'm wondering why this shift is not taking place for us to witness it and BELIEVE)
In roughly 5 billion years time, the solar system will leave behind a stellar corpse (white dwarf).  (This is the safest prophecy of the day, we can safely add that thehomer will possibly be there with his camcoder to capture the events)
Trillions of years later, IT IS LIKELY that the sun will be left with none of the original bodies.  (This is an embarassingly vague scientific prophecy, you believe this stuffs, thehomer).
A shockwave MAY have triggered the formation of the sun. (Science dey fall my hand badly in these matters. theEVIDENCEhomer, is this really the explanation/link you meant to post?)
The Sun MUST have formed in a large star forming region, POSSIBLY similar to the Orion nebula.  ( This should be added to the dictionary meaningS of the word 'conjecture')
The kuiper belt SUGGEST THAT the sun formed within  a cluster of stars. ( This is spineless and indefinite. Remember this is supposed to be the your "there is an explanation of the reason why the solar system is the way it currently is that does not need some God"wink
Several SIMULATIONS of our young sun interacting over the first 100million years of its life. (check up that word 'simulation' to refresh your vocab. See the way a less than 80year old man/scientist is talking of the young sun like his little boy at home. They mention the word 100million years like it happened 2hours ago on their TV)
The Sun is BELIEVED to have been a T Tauri star.  (faith- the evidence of things not seen, your faith has made you thehomer)
Over about 100,000years, the contracting nebula flattened into a spinning disc with a diameter of ~200A.U and form a prostar (Pls note that 1A.U,astronomical unit, is the distance of the earth to the sun, which is about 149.6 X 106kilometers. Hmmmm, 200A.Us, 100,000years. i hope you have the vcd at home, thehomer?)
Within 50 million years, the temperature and pressure at the core of the sun became so great.  (Eeeergh, Jet Li, jackie Chan and SuperStory)
The various planets are THOUGHT TO have formed from the solar nebula   (keep Thinking)
The currently accepted method of planet formation is accretion. dust grains in orbit become clumps through contact. these clumps about 200m in diameter COLLIDED to form larger bodies 10km. Increased through further collisions growing at cm per year over the next FEW million years  ( in those days of yore, rocks disagreed to agree. In other words, when they COLLIDED, they joined each other. But we're now in the jet age. today, when rocks collide, they disintegrate. thank God for the times that have changed, pheeew)
So on to other things,
How much deviation would end all human life? Do you think that if the earth were not tilted on its axis, humans would not survive?
Wiki's your friend colleague. Here's what i said and you may check the context, "the earth is at a particular angle/tilt and moves at a particular speed, at some particular distance to the centre of the solar system and other planets? i hope you're aware that a little deviation, just a little deviation from these parameters can end all human life?" i thought it was common knowledge that earth's deviation results in climatic change and affects volcanic activity and stability, tidal effects, sunrise and sunset etc. I'm not sure the chances of humans surviving if the earth left its orbit and wandered into Venus's or Mars' orbit(DISTANCE). I'm not sure the chances of humans surviving if the earth if the earth tilted to 90degrees for instance(ANGLE) or if it reduced or increased it's speed of rotation and revolution(SPEED). thehomer, this is not a geography class, it's every day O'level geography.
Would you consider someone who believes that unicorns have been helping them out in their daily activities fools? How about someone who believes that a statue in his house has been helping him out
Here's what i said. Your answer is there. "That's why it's not enough to say in your heart that there's a God. You need to know what God, and to repent, and to get wisdom. But not believing that there's a God automatically puts one in the class of fools, and fools do have degrees and orders. All these things are in the Bible."

I'd be referencing 'heavily' from the writing from a respected man of God, Nee To-sheng of Foochow, China.
Many are aware of the sufferings of Christ in the body. Of how He was beaten and crucified, so we'll start there. It's been graphically demonstrated in the movies we watch on Jesus of Nazareth. Infact, many T.V stations would soon resume showing it to the world again. Well i need to remind you, Jesus did not suffer for us to cry or pity Him. Actually, He said 'weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.' So remember this easter, He doesn't need your weepings, He needs your repentance, your hearts, your very life given to Him.
Christ's sufferings were clearly foretold in the messianic writings. They have pierced my hands and feet (Psalm 22v16). Zechariah called attention to 'Him whom they have pierced'(Zechariah 12v10). His hands, His feet, His head and brow, His side and heart were all pierced by men. Pierced by sinful humanity and pierced for sinful humanity. He was pierced for you. Think of something heavy mistakenly falling on you, like the ceiling fan, or an hammer. An hammer knowingly fell on Jesus, He was NAILED to wood. He suffered for your body. He suffered for you.

As we go through the month of April, it's a good month to reflect on Jesus. It's the month when His death and resurrection is openly celebrated. The famed welsh preacher-Evan Roberts was at his father's burial, and everything was so sombre and funereal until he interrupted with the exclamation that "This is not a death but a resurrection. Let us bear witness to this truth". It's Jesus Christ that can turn death into resurrection. This month, we look through His vicarious death into His resurrection. It's my prayer that we also be passed from death into Life.
Jesus Christ had to die for us. All have sinned. We were all in trouble, in the well. We all needed salvation, no other man could take our place, because we're all in the same situation. No angel could save us as angels are spirits. No animal could save us as animals do not have spirit, soul and body. The lamb/animal could only try. Even God could not save us or take our place for God is a Spirit. He had to come down as man;spirit, soul and body.
God the Spirit had to 'artificially inseminate' an human as all man's seed is corrupt by default. This begat Jesus our Saviour. He lived on earth and remained spotless, undefiled. Then He took our place. He suffered our judgement spirit, soul and body. And if we believe Him, we would not be judged.

Talk about smoking for Jesus and stealing to the glory of God.
Nobody wants to bear the 'stigma' of being called a christian or religious again. Jesus is watching sha, judgement day go serious.

@thehomer
did they send you to me? it seems your goal iS just to counter anything i say, i beg o! I'm not supporting the actions of the murderers. They say 'charity begins at home'. I think i should speak first and more to christians to correct their wrongs, before going to correct others who btw, well?
Christians are not supposed to knowingly offend others. There's no point in burning a quran. Knowing the muslims, they'll take it to violent levels, christians should be discreet and considerate of others at least, if not themselves.
Jesus said to love your enemies and do good to others, not burn qurans. Nothing good is achieved by burning qurans, go and preach the gospel, and read Matthew 5 instead.

^for one thing, satan hasn't even started his term in hell fire.
There are conditions for forgiveness, repentance is one. Take advantage of the fact that YOU can have forgiveness, and stop taking panadol for devil's headache. The devil has nothing on a child of God, he's easily overcome through Christ Jesus.

^burning the quran is not christian. Being a christian is to be like/follow Christ. Christ didn't ask us to go and burn qurans, there's nothing positive done that way. A christian should have discretion, he shouldn't knowingly endanger his life or the life of others. A christian IS NOT a muslim. It's common knowledge that many in the muslim world would be incited by such actions and would cause harm to innocent lives and property in any part of the world. Those christains should have considered others that would be affected by their actions, others like you and me.

God has already JUDGED satan. The devil's only waiting to start his term in hell. Man has not been judged but will be judged at the great white throne by God Jesus. That's why man's still got a chance to escape eternal judgement, and opt for eternal life and reward instead.

The so called christians who burnt the quran are not christians but christains. They were quite insensitive to the plight of others, even if you don't care for yourself you should care for others. They willingly paved the way for the devil to destroy lives. Jesus did not send us to burn qurans or make statements, but to preach the good news. Wisdom is profitable to direct.

Rubbish if it was a proper prophesy, then it should have also spoken about the empires that were even larger than those ones. The British Empire and the Mongol Empire were bigger than those ones you mentioned. Why were they omitted?
See thehomer talking of proper prophecy. Anyway, let me illustrate, if i told you that tolu will be leave ghana for togo tomorrow, would that be relevant to you? No. You don't know tolu, and you can't comfirm if tolu would actually leave ghana for togo tomorrow. It's the same with God speaking to Nebuchadnezzar about 'possible empires in the far east' which he was oblivious to. i told you that a good teacher doesn't teach the student above the syllabus/curriculum. God wasn't just giving a prophecy to display power or omniscience, He was passing across a message to Nebuchadnezzar. And history records that the message was fulfilled. The empires God talked about are well documented, the supposed empires in the far east are assumptions and discoveries of archeologists. Nebuchadnezzar was told that after the Babylonian kingdom (not sure you've even read the passage, but let me quote some part here).

Dan 2:38  And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
Dan 2:39  And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
Dan 2:40  And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
Dan 2:41  And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
Dan 2:42  And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
Dan 2:43  And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Dan 2:44  And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Dan 2:45  Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

So nebuchadnezzar was shown an image in which he was the 'head of gold'. He was world emperor, at least over all the world known to him. After him i.e after the Babylonian empire was to come 'another kingdom inferior to his'. History confirms this kingdom to be the Median/Persian empire/kingdom. then followed by 'another third kingdom of brass'. The next world empire historically was the Greecian empire. Then followed the 'the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron'. History confirms that the Greecian kingdom was followed by the Roman empire as world rulers. That's the leg in the vision, and if you know about the roman empire, you'll know that it broke into 2 i.e the two legs of brass. then after that 4th kingdom followed the feet which is broken into many parts some strong some broken. verse 43 clearly says but they shall not cleave one to another. And truly there's been no single unit/empire dominating the world since the roman empire and there will not be until Jesus comes. The UN is an effort to unite them but it will not happen. Nebuchadnezzar was told this all this while, you should also be made aware. Let the peace pacts and talks continue, we know the results already. The British empire, Mongul, french, Portugese, American if you may, Spanish, Italian etc are all under this feet described. They'll continue to remain like that until the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed. That's the King of kings, coming to reign. that's the Jesus we're waiting for. He will bring lasting peace to men, He's the prince of peace.
Plus the reference to the sky being held up by pillars. Wow.
Wow, wow,woah, waoh.
Of course it was. Again, read your words on the empire prophesies.
i've explained this.
You seem to miss my point which is that it is a book not worthy of the way people look at it.
This appeal of yours to a previous U.S. president is a fallacy of an appeal to misleading authority.
But you keep looking at it till tomorrow. Don't worry, you're the only one who is right everyone else is wrong. A former U.S president is a misleading authority? because his views differ from yours? I guess scientists are the right leading authorities, they'v also wowed you na.
I hope you're actually praying and not just typing out the words. Could you also fast? I think we're in the season for some fasting too. If you ask, I'll let you know how it turns out.
Oh yes, i'm praying for your salvation. you think you don't need salvation, you think you're good. But your good is not enough. It is crucial that every man receive God's life. Human reform cannot save. It's like dirty water that has settled. It's still dirty, it's only superficially clean. It's like a computer program that has been infected with a virus, It has been altered. Man has been altered and his judgement is death. the soul that sins will die. Ezekiel 18:4  Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. only Jesus can save you. he died in your place, so that you'll not die. Man is a slave to himself, to his habits, temper, to sin. Jesus came to set us free. All those who do not have God's eternal life through Christ are considered, by God, as dead/infected. The program may open, it may appear, it may even run, but it's infected all the same. It needs to be disinfected or deleted/replaced. It's important that you accept Jesus as saviour. He's the only one who promises and who can give eternal life.
