Jenwitemi:
What exactly is the point of women covering their heads in synagogues, churches or mosques? Their God(s) does not like looking at what he created himself? I just don't get it. Why is this issue of any importance?
i'll continue to tell you, you stand very little chance of 'getting it' in spiritual matters. Even believers still dey queue.
BTW, when you realise the importance of the position of a decimal point on your take home pay, you may begin to observe that some things may matter after all even when you know little about them.

I don't know whether you copied the above from somewhere, it's a better approach. There's a lot of difference between this and your initial reply and 'air'. While i have a differing understanding and explanation to that passage, i'll let it pass for now. Why? Because when i weigh it, it's not much of a 'big' deal compared to some other matter. Okay?

The Poster didn't ask a question? What then is a question? Even the title of the thread is a question. Well, in all, i can't fully speak for the OP, but did sure look like question from his/her studies or experience or observation.
xgel:
I'm aware that in some places women do still cover their heads, but looking at my bible it clearly says in 1 Corinthians 11:5-7 that women should cover their heads while in prayer. Is their some later verse that nullifies this? And if there is then why is this passage included at all? I was taught at my Christian school that the bible is 100% literal, but if that is so then every time a woman prays with her head uncovered then isn't she knowingly sinning? And why is it "dishonorable" for a man to cover his head in prayer?

Do you really need this victimisation appeal? Deal with the issue or move on. Which one is 'women' that you're calling? The OP asked a question, quoted scriptures. 'Explain' to him/her starting from the scripture quoted. What's with the 'them' vs. Me/us/my church. The OP didn't mention any church, but you're quick to condemn the way THEY 'teach' their women to look, belittle their educational status (pele, Ph.D pikin). What's with the blab on noodles and t.v? Don't tell me you're attempting to taunt another denomination as a carnal spiritfled sinner would, no? I do possess ability to speak for the dumb o, watch it.
BTW, have you read the 1Corinthians 11v16 you referred to? I checked 'my default' version, it doesn't support your cause. I checked other versions too, they were even clearer against your cause. So may we hear you.

You keep repeating this post.

Don’t think you should go this route Image123. To assume a practice is biblical even though it was never recorded comes with some risk if accepted. One can simply adopt the same approach for other contentious practices we find in the various churches today. Nothing in the NT point to the need for believers to tithe. The apostles would easily pass as the first priest/pastors and I don’t see how you can make such inference from their activities and writings.
I believe i added two Bible verses. Deal with that.

I ask again, did Jesus and the apostles have their bathe? Prove it!
I thought i'd said it here before, but i'll say it again. That something wasn't 'written' in scriptures doesn't automatically mean that it didn't happen, or that it's false, or the assumption that scriptures must disagree by default. Jesus' obvious regard for the law should tell you that He FULFILLED it.
Matthew 5v17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
The same can be said for the apostles.
Acts 24v14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing ALL things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
Or are you insinuating that they broke the law? (seeing you can't see tithes as beyond the law).

Pastor image123 huh huh huh

Name calling is not a Christian value dude, Jesus came to show us the way
We've established he didn't COLLECT tithes or offerings as he wasn't from the tribe of Levi.
Fact is that he paid a "Temple tax" to shut up the questions from the scribes and pharisees

Anyone who has not heard the Malachi being quoted out of context by money hungry pastors and their associates probably haven't stepped in a Church in a very LONG time or need to let us know where they worship so some of us can check them out. The year is VERY young and I have already heard it this year. LOL grin
It'd being funny if it wasn't hypocritical. I do not see where i called you names. False accusation is not a christian value. You're the one cynically calling me 'pastor' and 'dude'. Who talked about COLLECT? Who talked about 'temple tax'? Who talked about the money hungry pastors you've been listening to? The question the OP is asking is 'did Jesus or the apostles PAY tithe, or as you may prefer it, give tithe? I've posted scriptures to suggest that they did. Deal with that.

You guys aren't serious! When you can't point to any Scripture to show that Jesus and the Apostles paid tithes, you retort to rigmarole and gamesmanship to try to cover up your exposed rear ends. Pastor JoeAgbaje has agreed that Malachi wasn't addressed to the Gentiles or Christians and don't those pastors love to SCARE folks with Malachi?

There is no principle that said you had to PAY God for blessings as opposed to living a holy life and helping out your fellow brothers and sisters along the way, no where it is stated that your help has to go through a "central collecting agency" to get to the widows, orphans, needy, strangers or what have you.
Quit compassing land and sea like the typical hypocrite scribe. Stop muddling points and persons, this isn't one of we vs. them fights. Face the issues. Where are you dreaming up your scaring folks with scripture, paying God for blessing, and central collecting agencies? Did you forget the OP? This is an issue you may want to deal with below.

For the benefit of those who don't know your rigmarole gifts, there's nothing like law of tithe in scriptures. When the scriptures talk about law, it's refering to the law i.e the ceremonial laws done away with by the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, not some myopic attack on lighter matters when weightier matters are dying for ATTENTION.

When someone calls the Word of God 'nonsense', knowing fully well where it is in the Bible. When he exalts his friend above the Word, by agreeing that the OT(at least) is a fraud. You immediately sense that such a one MUST not be taken seriously in spiritual matters.

I think when the pastor says 'all will be well'. He's not negating the words of God, but consoling BELIEVERS, telling them that they should still be of good cheer and reminding them of God's good plan for THEM, not the world. God's message to His children is not compulsorily the same message for the world.

Tithing remains the longest standing and biggest institutionalized fraud in the history of mankind.
You've to consider that he was probably drunk or high when he thought this. How would a christian ever say that? Does he not know that at least, there was a time when God included it in law? Was God fraudulent to mankind?

January 3 James 3v17

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Wisdom is beautiful, wisdom is profitable. God formed the world by wisdom, and the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Like most good things, wisdom has a counterfeit, a fake. Sadly still, a devilish kind of wisdom. Note that the Bible agrees that the devil is very wise, actually wiser than man. People have been deceived, by the devil of course, to think that they can outsmart the devil.
There is an insatiable thirst in man for wisdom, or more appropriately put, knowledge. That's why it is important for us to know the kind of wisdom that we possess as individuals, and the way we employ/deploy it. Many people are Very wise/brilliant/intelligent but their wisdom is not godly. Such wisdom is not for the heavenly minded, such wisdom pits you against God and the godly.
What kind of wisdom do you manifest? Always check up, all through this year and forever. Determine to walk in the wisdom that is from above. The wisdom from above is first pure, holy. Whatever/however smart the idea, it is not from God if it negates holiness. It might sound beautiful, work excellently, be very practical, look the best for the situation. If it is not pure, it is not from God. It's wise alright, but not from God.
The wisdom from God ensues peace. It is gentle, not forceful. It's not a kind of wise advice that wants to force its way down every throat. You'll see people with beautiful teachings and expositions maybe on an issue, but they want to force it into everyone. God's wisdom is full of mercy, easy to be intreated and sincere, without hypocrisy. It has good fruits, it's not strife or malignant. May God give us the wisdom that is from above this new year. Once again, may God give you a happy new year and decade.

December 30                 Acts 28v3

3. And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

Paul the apostle was not a conqueror. Far from it, he was more than a conqueror. Talk about being plucked out of the fire.
Most times, we see and remember the ministry, the healings, the preachings, of course the writings, the apostolic signs. But we tend to forget the man, the labours, the stripes, the journeyings, perils, weariness, painfulness, the hunger and the cold. That was the life of Paul, that was his light affliction.
Paul was not a 'fast food, cafeteria' christian. Here was a man that the Lord Jesus appeared to and said "Be of good cheer". Of good cheer? The very next day, certain Jews bound themselves under a curse to neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul. How can there be, any good in a cheer when for the next two years, Paul was left bound because He would not give a bribe. He was so innocent, yet he couldn.t be released. But he obeyed the command.
Some people think that old testament commands are more difficult than the new testament's. Paul not only obeyed but told others also "Sirs, be of good cheer, for I believe God". What! Believe God? There was a storm, the Bible records that all hope was taken away in this storm. I ask you reader, what have you faced? An angel just appeared to Paul, an angel! What followed later was some soldiers' counsel to kill all the prisoners including Paul. The christian journey is not all a bed of roses as some imagine it to be.
God helped Paul, they escaped the storm, and here is Paul offering community service, gathering sticks. 276 people plus the barbarians, and the best hands a viper saw was Paul's. But he overcame, and thank God in all these things, you too can, will overcome. Because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. You will thread upon the lion and the adder. You will be set on high. You will be delivered. You are honoured. You will boldly say 'God is my helper'. There shall no evil befall you. You are more excellent, more than conquerors. You are an overcomes, the child of God. You have the VICTORY. You will finish your course. NOTHING shall by any means hurt you. You can say it again to the devil's hearing and for anyone who cares to know. Where the word of a king is, there is power.

But in other ways, we must be the same for things to be normal, conventional, coherent and fluent. Today's passage speaks of one of such ways. It is the way of the common salvation. There are no different salvations or different ways for different churches. Some talk of 'in our own ministry'. They have their own, but there's a common salvation. Whether it's Damascus, or Jerusalem, or throughout the coasts of Judea where Jews may be found, or to the Gentiles, it's always a salvation of repentance, a turning to God. After which must follow WORKS meet for/worthy of/satisfying/complying with repentance.
This one is not for Jews alone, it's not for Gentiles only. It is not reserved for the old testament, or a preserve of the new testament. It is the common salvation. Each believer, whatever race, denomination or location MUST repent, turn to God, and DO works meet for repentance.

20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

We have heard that no two humans are the same, and that there is strength in diversity. Truly, we cannot, possibly should not, all be the same in some ways, but in other ways we must be the same for things to be normal, convenient, coherent, fluent. Just like we are all primates, we're all human beings. We need/use the same oxygen, the same water to survive. I think it's also true spiritually.
We are different members of one body. This church may use a plastic pulpit, the other glass, the other wood pulpit, even no pulpit. This church may use the tambourine, the other does not. This one may use the keyboard, the other organ. This one may use drums, the other does not. This one may wear hats, the other scarves. These are non-essentials, not make or break points. These are different administrations.

Let's not get carried away by the drinking and eating, the music and partying, like others. The general populace thinks 'we are all the same, nobody knows who is serving God, there is no good person'. Well, the Lord is picking people that He calls good, faithful, servants. People who will receive a well done, who will rule over many. People who will make it into the joy of the Lord. This should give us real strength to live for God, knowing that this day's Joy To The World, is that we may enter into God's joy.

December 25 Matthew 25v23

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Today, we recall the wonder God had wrought for man, the great Desire of nations, of whom cherubims sang anthems to men. What joy He brought to the world, to man, and to mankind. What joy it was, on the day when the Son of God became man, so that men the sons of God might become.
In God's presence, there is fullness of joy. It was of that joy that He brought to the world, that we may be partakers of His joy. Everybody is celebrating; both goat, sheep, man, woman. Everyone is calling Lord, Lord, even the wicked and slothful. But He came for more than this, He came to make us partakers of His joy. His joy is our strength. Our Today's passage literally tells us that His joy is HEAVEN. Like they say, earth is a market, there's no continuing city, no permanent inheritance here for the true children of God.
Jesus came from Heaven to show us the way to Heaven, the joy of the Lord. It is the most important thing as we remember, as we celebrate. There's a purpose, there's a reward, a 'welldone' day for which Today happened.

OLAADEGBU:
Jesus is Watching You

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shone his flashlight around, looking for valuables, and when he picked up a CD player to
place in his sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying:

"Jesus is watching you".

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his touchlight off and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head,
promised himself to take a Christmas break after the next big score, then flicked the light back on and began searching more valuables. Just as he
pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard:

"Jesus is watching you."

Totally rattled, he shone his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his touchlight beam came to rest
on a parrot.

"Did you just say that?"

He hissed at the parrot.

"Yes,"

the parrot confessed, then squawked,

"I'm just trying to warn you."

The burglar relaxed.

"Warn me, huh? Who do you think you are any way?"

"Moses,"
