You know, sometimes, people complain bitterly about christians but claim to like Jesus. They say "It's because of christians that I'm not a christian". They claim that Jesus was a good man, a great teacher, and bla bla bla, but for His followers. See devil deceiving people and soothing consciences. They kick against the pricks and do not know it. I think if Jesus was here today, He'll not last up to three and a half years before the 'it is finished' part. my thoughts by the way. But you, are you rejecting Jesus subtly or boldly today? Are you making excuses or boldly kicking against the pricks? If you hate God's children, sorry, you hate God. You may prove logic and quote 'wise men' from now till time 'h', one thing is needful. That thing is an acceptance of Christ as Lord and Saviour. You may get opinion polls in your favour and be in one accord, as seen in Today's passage. You may stop your ears, evil will not go unpunished except you repent. God is still angry with the unrepentant sinner every day. You may have people to support your views very well on nl, one thing is needful. As for me, I'll rather stand/kneel like Stephen, alone with Jesus, than have the world united at my back to stone Stephen. How about you? |
If Jesus the Son of God makes you free, you will be free indeed. Do you believe that, infinitii? |
January 8 Acts 7v57 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord. We are told that Stephen was the first christian matyr, he died for His faith in God. As far back as early christian days i.e the days of the initial disciples of Jesus, people have suffered for Jesus. It's funny then that some still find it strange today, if everything is not 'rosy' for the believer. They will say "where is your God now, are you a real christian?" But we should not be moved by these things, but instead stand firm in Jesus, for there is nothing new under the sun. Heaven is our home, our resting place, never forget that as a child of God. Stephen was honest, wise, full of the Holy Ghost, full of faith and power, a vibrant preacher, and a carrier of the anointing. His detractors even looked at his face and it was as it had been the face of an angel. An angel! What else can you ask for in a christian? Here is someone who would pray for his persecutors even as they were killing him. This one knew Jesus. You'll naturally expect this one to be populsar with the people. But it was not so. |
Hey thank God, Joagbaje don submit. Goal close to achievement. 'we can make better suggestion for future programme'? How about you(christ embassy) seeking for counsel. BTW, people have already given some advice/suggestion even in this thread. You can go through again if you missed it. Ask for counsel from other churches or even secular organisations. Many tv programs have auditions and audience. I think 'who wants to be a millionaire' does audition, don't know much about how they do theirs. But perhaps you go to them, learn from them and avoid their mistakes. Learn from churches around you, they do cross over nights every year. |
Oh my God, will i ever completely understand this necta's english? Evidences of being a son in a special way, death, redemption, resurrection, etc? Can you calculate 3days from beginning tot he end, especially when 3 days and 3 nights were expected? Those who resurrect are always in spirit according to Jesus, they have no body.Jesus is the only begotten Son of God able to redeem us all to God. He did not tell you to expect 3days and 3nights. The result of the resurrection will still be the same If He used just 3hours in the grave or 3months. Come to think of it. In yoruba, they say 'ijeta'. That's day before yesterday, which is directly translated 3days ago. It's not a compulsory 72hours ago. |
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? Even asides what's been said, nature itself supports it. This is clearly not a local corinthian parish issue. It says, women naturally have longer hair than men. Girls naturally keep their hair longer than boys. The hair is the female's glory. Cutting a female's hair is usually for punishment, restriction or mourning. It's a norm for males, cutting that is. 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. Long hair is beautiful and natural on the female. They actually love it and a big deal of it. It is her glory, which according to the passage, is equals to man. Such glory must be covered in God's presence(prayer and prophesying). Man's glory is Christ, according to the passage, who must be lifted up and never covered. Her glory is given her FOR a covering. That's dual. It means one, it covers her 'as a covering', and two, it's her responsibility to cover 'for a covering'. It's a token, a show, a demonstration, like the rainbow, like baptism. 16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. If anybody is disputing/contending this, we don't do that here or in any of God's houses. End of story. It's a tone of finality. You could check up on other versions for more help. Hope these helped. |
8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. He refers to genesis, the beginning. So Christ-like. It's a principle hinged on the very beginning, not localised to the attitude of corinthian who.res. Head covering is because of the creation story. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Another reason is because of the angels, not because of a hobby peculiar to corinth. Angels aren't from corinth or only in corinth. The two reasons given for head covering are universal. The creation and angels. One could go on a parallel OR a tangent elucidating the reasons, but i trust we'd rather obey as good soldiers of Christ, than understand the theology and sacrifice behind. 11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. 12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. He incorporates us all. It's not an attempt to reduce any gender. We're all of God, man or woman, boy or girl. He's already given the command here. He's finished, what follows is not a cancellation. It's not a forget all i said earlier. 13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? It's not a opinion poll. It's not well, you decide after all. It's a call to reason. You too think, come to think of it, imagine. It's not a plea to forget vs1-12. |
5 But EVERY WOMAN that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. Every woman, this is not restricted to corinthian dressing, this is for every man and every woman, this is timeless, not culturally necessitated. Every woman praying or prophesying with uncovered head dishonours. 6 For IF the woman be not covered, LET HER ALSO BE SHORN: but IF IT BE a SHAME for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. Note the capitalized. Sound different from the assumptions we've heard and posted that it was definitely a shame to be shorn. Well, the main issue is LET HER BE COVERED. It'll be ridiculous to assume in this verse that He's saying let her BE covered with her hair, a massive pity that that idea usually jumps in at a later verse. Would just translate verse to 'if she's not shaved, let her have hair to cover'. Won't that be pretty obvious already? 7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. A man should not cover his head, He emphasizes. This is not just for women women women. Then He begins to give reasons. I'll love to speak much on these, but i'll rather you at His words. He doesn't bring up any famous cultural reason, or talk of prost.itutes and barber shops. |
ALL that in EVERY PLACE call on Jesus. Wonderful, God's Word exceeds our boundaries and limitations. Okay, to the part where i post on the d-passage. 1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Follow Paul as he follows Christ. He gives this Christ's backing right from the start. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you. Commendation before instruction to follow, quite Christ-like ehn. The early church wasn't lawless. They did have some ordinances/traditions, godly ones, kept TO THE LETTER(as delivered). 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. This is something He needed to have them/us know. It's not local, notice the 'every man' here and forth. This is established on divine principles, not on corinth fashion. 4 EVERY MAN praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. It's not a lash out at the women only, it concerns the male too(married or unmarried, church or outside church). Every man, anywhere, anytime. Every man. Covering His hair. We all know what 'covering' means. It's a pity people insincerely conclude that it means the hair to cover the head. |
women covering their heads in church was very important to the Corinthian churchEvery scripture is profitable for doctrine and instruction. Every scripture is God-inspired. 1Corinthians 11 is scripture. The Word of God is infallible, the problem is ALWAYS with our understanding, not with the Word. Do not buy the idea that the Word of God is written to some particular people alone, it's not the truth. The Word of God is written to you and me, all of us. All these it's written to Timothy, it's written to priest, it's written to jew, it's all half-truth. Consider Corinthians for extra proof though; 1Corinthians 1v1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, 2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours. The letter is addressed to all of us, not just cut/constrained to some villagers some thousands years ago. |
JeSoul. Happy new year sister. I sorta was 'closing shop' on this issue with nuella, i don't THINK it a death/life, damnation/eternal life issue. It's the kind of issue i see that while obedience and commitment to these kind of issues will be rewarded in eternity, we may not all agree/have same understanding on everything. I'm replying not because of that Jenwit boy. If he wants to, he's free to learn sha. I'm replying because you see a 'very very important question'. I reply because of something wise i find in proverbs 7v2 Guard my teaching as the apple of your eye. So that we see how to get a full reward as the apostle John wished. |
mazaje:And there's nothing like law of gravity, or Newton's law of motion when Jesus and John baptist were here. Ignorance is not an excuse. |
Ah this is just ahhh. Kenny88 has come with one of his bogus stories again, and it's suddenly 'gospel truth'. Meanwhile Bible passages are passed for scams and every obi and ubi is set loose to curse and attack his/her best. |
^Hey, there nothing wrong with taking to correction, is there? People are not saying christ embassy is going to hell(that's what Jesus means by 'judge not' btw). What everyone from angel to donkey is saying is that what is not good is not good. What's with the Bible you quoted, christ embassy is taking away from he that has not. That's the obvious abi where you stand sef. |
I thought they said that God looks only at the heart and motive. So people need healing and there's a consensus that God loves the tripartite man |
nuclearboy:It's on purpose. Controversy gives cheap publicity. They do it all the time, anything to get the people in. Very little to get any truly saved |
^ Well, maybe. In a 'cocky' context. |
Go to God, He's the strongest deliverer you can get. You and Him, together, will deliver you.Psalm 91 |
Jenwitemi:You certainly were not following, now you'll come up with "i just don't get it"s. I'm saying it's possible for someone to do something before the time. One may be born before his time, or die earlier. Not everything in life is done in due time. Some are early, some are late, some are right on time, believer or unbeliever. And like 5solas quoted, the saints/believers exit from earth are precious to God, it's a time of joining, a success story. |
5solas:Jesus could have been killed before time, but He escaped. The Israelites that left egypt were supposed to get to canaan. It was God's plan for them, but they frustrated it. One can die before 'his time', believer or unbeliever. And on the other hand, if you know your time like king Hezekiah in scriptures, you may extend it. |
The believer who died last year in an accident may have frustrated the grace of God if it wasn't God's plan for him to die last year. He may have been warned, he may have been careless. God forgives sin, not too sure if He forgives carelessness same way. |
Controversy is the name of the game. you love this, don't you, jo &the crew? |
So now, repeat is the problem. Thank God it's not Old Testament, we for hear jew history. Thank God it's not the gospels, na tales on calvary we for hear. Now it's repeat it severally so that it can be important. well done ehn. |
@Joagbaje, newmi and colleagues I beg you, take advice. I guess it's people of your calibre and mind who brought up this money idea to control crowd. Mistake 1 has been made though you may not accept it. My plea is against mistake 2. You seem to be suggesting that a bigger auditorium will solve your crowd control problems. Pls, it wouldn't. For God's sake, people will have to contribute for that again, and it wouldn't solve the problem. Pls, meet with others(spiritual or secular) for advice. No man holds monopoly of knowledge. Others in this same country also 'haff' crowd. and which one is the snipe at the nigerian mindset? thought you said it also happened to you in london? |
jmoore:To make them more like the Master and His apostles. |
melijah77: Joagbaje:I like that fery much. It is a fine qweshion. But the OP's question is why i came hia. Nevertheless, don't be troubled, you can open up a free thread on your concerns. There seems to be effective crowd control on nl so thread opening is very free. People will join ya there, but i might not o, they don transfer mi comot for t matters dept. |
5solas:Uncle mi, the question is on the lines 'why did you see the new year?' answer is most definitely by God's grace. But we must not forget those who are able to frustrate that grace and go 'before their time', contrary to God's plans. |
OLAADEGBU:Oga mi, happy new year o! I said many languages, but thankfully sha i can help with the yoruba brush-up. I can tell two young people "e ma bo" i.e come. Same thing i'll tell elder "e ma bo". That's what i had in mind. |
Actually the heart of man is very deceitful and not to be trusted. It's not constant and is subject to a lot of influence, wear, tear and break. 5Solas You don come again o, happy new year sha. But don't try sleeping across the third mainland bridge lagos sha, that grace will deny you sharp sharp.lol. We're not God's zombies but partners together with Him. |
Joagbaje i beg o, the solution is NOT a bigger facility. A bigger facility will mean more levy, true givers will be blessed true, but some'll give and become poorer, and probably do some desperate stuff that doesn't glorify God after motivation. And the problem still remains. I do not flatter you, but christ embassy will fill a 80,000 seat auditorium. Many other churches and secular speakers would bTw. |
Don't know if this story is valid, but i do know that christ embassy usually experience problems with crowd control. Is it pride or a lack of concern? There are many people around (secular and spiritual) that they can ask for counsel. They're not the first to have a large following.this kain i know it all, we vs. some folks attitude is bringing unnecessary shame and jeer to the body of Christ. |
Because He's the God the three in One. It's a mix of seniority and plurality. He is most senior, yet 3 distinct One. Like in many languages, we use the plural pronoun for the elder. |
