ayusman16:Whether Chelski lose or win is irrelevant for Gunners becuase by May,there will be atleast a 10 point gap between the two clubs. . . .don't ask me who I think will be ahead ![]() |
debosky:I only said that from February .Let me repeat February! That sort of nonsense won't have come out of my mouth in September of last year. The good thing is that like I said before,by Winter,we will know who actually is in the running for the title race.If you think that the middle of September is sufficient to draw conclusions,it means you haven't been watching this Premiership for long. |
All the better for an extremely dissapointing denouement for the Gunners.Nothing like raising people's hopes only for them to be crushed ![]() |
The doomsayers are going quiet now. Only 2 goals conceded in 4 games, just need to work on our attacking.Lets see what the Gunners and Liverpool achieve. |
Yes. . . do you believe that the earth is flat as well? |
When Tevez moved to Corinthians,he was completely crap in the beginning but eventually emerged as their best player.Same process repeated itself at the Hammers. Now,with Utd,he has made a slow start again and people suddenly think he should be written off. What a bunch of oafs! |
Was Ojo not one of those Abacha cronies? |
The best way to burnish our image is not by making empty threats against others but by conducting an honest and effective campaign against corruption. Even Nigerians refer to Nigeria as a corrupt country, does that mean Nigerians are hostile? |
mukina2:Diarra played and he was crap! Clichy, who you guys claim to be the best left-back,did not start. |
I have actually been reading Ola's posts were he refered to one who was either a Muslim apologist or Christian jingoist.I read it 3 or 4 times and I was still flummoxed. Its one of the most incomprehensible posts I have ever seen. |
"You don't use the mouth". I swear, some Indian immigrant broke up with his wife because he found someone,in the US, who "uses the mouth" and the wife doesn't. |
Dear Sir, please what did Jesus christ (PBUH) told you to do when you enter any house and what did he say when he stood in the midst of his disciples after resurrecting in the bible? The problem is not saying a specific thing but using a specific language. Why can't you say "peace be upon you" in Yoruba? Why must it be Arabic.Christians do not feel the need to greet each other in Aramaic or Greek or English. Why do African Muslims feel the need to spout Arabic? No, they are not superior to us. Mankind are equal, regardless of color, race, ethnicity etc. God is not interested in our outside but what is in us. i.e the kind of person, how righteous we are. What you think you know of God was passed on to you by an Arab.No Arabs,no Islam.Your prayers,clothing,names,practices.e.t.c are often a product of the Arab world. That to me is symptomatic of cultural superiority. If all cultures were equal, why the pre-eminence of one particular culture-Arab culture-in your religion? Would the Arabs have done the same if the reverse was the case?Absolutely not. |
@Jackal Spot on.It is season ticket, not matchday tickets that already discounted. We are better off selling matchday tickets since we fill up our stadia anyway. |
olanajim:So it is the fault of non-Muslims that,as you acknowledge,Bin-Laden has "won the sympathy of Muslims in general"? If violence is so antithetical to Islam,no amount of opprobrium poured on Muslims in general, will make them sympathise with Bin Laden.Islam is afterall, a religion of peace If Muslims in general sympathise with Bin Laden,as you noted, then the criticisms levelled against Muslims has some vailidity.Sympathy for a mass murderer such as Bin Laden is worthy of criticism. You are effectively saying that non-Muslims should back off from attacking Muslims for their supposed sympathy to terror so that Muslims in general can stop sympathising with terrorists. |
Banderas:What the hell are you talking about? This is forecast OP for 2007 which takes into consideration, rising rates.Profits are set to double despite the aforementioned.Arse-anal's profit went down from £32 million to £11 million and we are supposed to be worried about a doubling of profits? Are you comparing £260 million to £600 million? You must be having a laugh!£260 million for Arse-anal is quite troubling(so much so that they can't finance transfers without selling) Utd is more valuable than Arsenal hence, you simply can't look at the absolute figures. For instance, take two guys-Mr Mancunian is worth £1million but has debts of £660,000.Mr Arseki is worth £500,000 and has debts of £260,000-can you see why looking at the absolute numbers doesn't give the full picture? Is Enyimba far better placed than Arseki because they have debts below £1 million while Arseki has debts of £260 million? No,because Arseki's assets more than cover up for the liabilities. Regarding attendances, if you can't sell all your season tickets, it doesn't mean you don't sell all your tickets. It does however mean on the matchday, you end up giving out tickets for below their value. That in my book is a loss of revenue. So you are indeed carrying the so called "attachments" in order to fill up your stadiumYou are incredible. If you release 30,000 tickets in one season and then the next season, you release 33,000 priced 14% higher, how has revenue fallen if you fail to sell all the 33,000 tickets? Here's the thing, nobody is saying Manchester United isn't making money, we all know you're making money. What we're saying is that your board is mismanaging you. I mean, why on earth would Manchester United increase ticket money? Why shouldn't they?Utd fans pay 50% less to watch Utd compared to Gunners and Russians, the former are perennial 4th place finishers. It is said that if the Glazers keep increasing prices right up to 2010,it will still be less than what Gunners and Russians charge. Once again,I will repost this quote from a more knowledgeable person: "It's very difficult to spot a weak link at the moment. It's not just a great club with a great brand. They have a fantastic merchandising operation, the biggest stadium in the country, they play in the richest and most successful league, they have a young, exciting team and they are winning titles again." Guess what club is being refered to. |
Jackal:You know the Police does not allow clubs to fill up every single seat in a stadium,United are supposed to reserve a thousand or more seats, otherwise United can fill up each and every single seat.OT is a 76,000 capacity stadium. If they allowed us "attachments",we will fill that up too .Many fans prepared to pay are turned back.Quote about United from a finance expert not from a group with an axe to grind: Football finance expert Dan Jones, a partner in the sports business group at Deloitte, explained: "It's very difficult to spot a weak link at the moment. It's not just a great club with a great brand. They have a fantastic merchandising operation, the biggest stadium in the country, they play in the richest and most successful league, they have a young, exciting team and they are winning titles again." All what u read in the dailies are the few moronic fans who can't belly the fact that the new owners are AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!That is part of the reason-xenophobia- but another reason particularly pertinent to that group mentioned in the NewsOf TheWorld report is that most of them were shareholders whose shares in Utd were compulsorily purchased, as required by the Takeover Rules,by the Glazers. Once a purchaser reaches the 90% mark,he can compulsorily acquire the remaining 10% equity. These shareholders whose shares were compulsorily acquired have seen a 25% appreciation in the value of Utd which they have missed out on.They are naturally miffed. We have a combination of xenophobia and sour grapes over missed opportunities.Do people really believe United would have spent money in the summer if it was on the verge of bankruptcy?Do they believe that a club which is the subject of so much takeover interest, with billion pounds bids,is teetering on the brink of financial collapse? Gate receipts are falling?Yet we manage to fill the stadium to capacity in every game PS:Maybe Bandy wants them to put "attachments" a la Lagos molue to "fill up" an already filled up Old Trafford. |
Banderas:Bandy, you must think we are clueless people here.Stadium capacity plus prices have gone up so any "fall" in sold season tickets is more than made up for.The absence of sufficient information hasn't stopped you from blithering ignorantly. Leeds was among the richest clubs in the premiership the season before they went bankrupt. That's nonsense!Leeds debts always outstriped its assets. This is completely the reverse of the case with Utd.Just 2 years ago,the club was worth £790 million, now its worth £1 billion. How the hell do you get a 25% appreciation of value when things are supposedly going pear shape. So the more things get worse, the more valuable we become True, you have 90M of operating income. You also have a massive wage bill, exceeded only by Chelsea. By the time you pay salaries, there will be quite a dent in this 90M.Just check out the above twaddle.Operating profit is already revenue minus expenses so Utd won't pay wages out of operating profit. What the hell did you think they meant by "operating profit"? The bottomline is that: 1:Revenues are going up faster than the Glazers ever envisaged 2:Profits are going up as well 3:The club is worth 60% more than its debts.Think of Utd as a human being. If you have debts of £660 million but you are worth £1billion,you can hardly be said to going bankrupt. Why do you think corporations are keen on acquiring Utd while the Glazers are not prepared to sell even though they will make a quick profit if they sell now PS:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/5362764.stm Maybe you should also worry about your team |
Don't mind the financial illiterates.A club whose market valuation is about £1.1 billion has debts of about £660 million, that is hardly catastrophic. Its assets far outstrips its liabilities. With operating profits of £90 million, the club can continue to fund most of its debt servicing from profits alone. Its a measure of the clubs financial viability, that there have been expressions of interest from a number of consortiums. The Glazers had to put a statement insisting that they are not selling. There are grounds for concern but it is ironic that Chelski fans, whose club have never made a profit under Roman are hyperventiallting over something they apparently don't understand |
Buruntashi:Allah dey guard Muslims so . . .Palestinians,Chechens,Iraqis,Uighurs,Darfuris,Lebanese,Kashmiris,Chadians,Somalians,Afghans.e.tc |
doyin13:Maybe dem never born you when the likes of Festus Onigbinde,Christian Chukwu,Shuaibu Amodu.e.tc coached the Super Eagles Ask people how "fantastic" we were. |
Mustay:Other religions no dey act as vehicles of cultural imperialism like dis.Do Nigerian Christian greet "good morning" always? But if u no salute urself in Arabic,u no be proper Muslim and yet you be Negro ![]() |
@babs787 We know Arabs get different dialects and classical Arabic dey different. However,it is still Arabic you Africans are spouting-Salaam Alaikum, Wa-Rahamatullah,-no be Arabic be this? God dey speak Arabic, write in Arabic and dey only hear Arabic!Make the Arabs wey dey learn other forms of Arabic follow us speak our language na,we just dey do like say dem dey superior to us.Person go dress in Middle Eastern clothing(hijab dem),bear M.East names( Ibrahim,Musa.e.t.c), worship in M.East language,go M.East pilgrimage and adopt M.East practices.Which kain cultural imperialism be dis?Una don become pseudo-Arabs,meanwhile the Arabs look down on us. ![]() |
champredd:In the 60s,70s and 80s when most Nigerian players were playing for domestic clubs, what were we achieving? It is because our players get to play at Europe, that our national team has some measure of respectability.Having cheated their way to success at youth level, how is it any of their business whether they are doing the right thing for their country? Most of them are afraid of injury - they don't want to lose their place at their clubs - so they don't play with dedication when playing for their country. Is it fear of injury that has stopped African teams going past the Q/F of the World Cup?Given that we and Ghana have won the U17 tourney 5 times, you would think we will produce players good enough to get past the 2nd round of the World Cup. The third is an NFA-generated problem. They don't allow them to grow together, nations cup 2008, some of them will join the senior team, while those who are currently growing with the senior teams are dropped. This is self-defeating.They can't grow together if some of them are 28 and some 25 or 20.If all were 17 or 16 years old,we can talk of them growing together but that doesn't arise if with age differences, some never mature while others will mature. Some of those boys might be at the peak of their career,i.e they will never get better than this The solution to all this is to stick with teenagers, that way they can grow together and still have long careers ahead of them. |
To me its a straight forward choice.Do we want to develop players for the future so that we can compete at the main World Cup or do we want to continue cheating our way to victory in youth competitions? We can't have it both ways.If we feel we can never win the main World Cup and hence we have to win the youth competitions even with foul means, then nobody should complain when next we fail to even qualify for the World Cup. An effective and honest youth programme is one of the ingredients of creating a strong national team, age cheats don't help our long term prospects. |
The essence of the U-17 competitions,is to groom players for the future. What is point if our "players for the future" are geriatric cheats most of who will never be heard of in years to come. All the U-17 world cups Ghana and Nigeria have been winning, what good has it done us?We are just sabotaging our future with this short term narrow mindedness |
This one na one-man thread. Na you start am,na you dey respond We no dey do rugby for Nairaland,we be Nigerians |
Tranny, leave me alone I no dey do Awo,Zik and Okotie-Eboh were corrupt .You want me to provide detailed evidence of why I hold such an opinion? That is why you are a schmuck I'm not in a law court so I'm not giving evidence but expressing opinion in a debating forum. If everybody, including you,had to provide detailed evidence of every claim they make, this forum will grind to halt. How do you prove that IBB or Jerry Useni was corrupt? I don't know why a transvestite is stalking me in the first place? ![]() |
Why is this shameless transvestite not admitting her prejudices? Have you cast out that facade of de-tribalised Nigerian you want to portray and do you now agree that you are just another one of Nigeria's parochial citizens |
@naijaking Why should we prepare when people are waving away the terror alert as a product of American conspiracy? |
laudate:My opinion. . .no need to get your transvestite self worked up.Its difficult to prove on the net,the corruption of Nigerian politicians of the older generation but the Southerners were corrupt.I haven't read or heard anything regarding Balewa or Bello but I know enough to consider the ones I mentioned as corrupt. The abscence of evidence is not the evidence of abscence |
