The only Yoruba word I know is "Obo".I am told it means "hello".So I say to you all,Obo! |
MILITIA:At the risk of being accused of sounding condescending,I think the quality of the debate has gone down a notch here. Ok,you can't invest 5.8million Naira in Nigeria.I agree wholeheartedly! |
spoilt:Thank you! Someone even leaned on my mum's car urinated on it once. They can expose their phalluses in public but not kiss |
@topic Is it? I need to check my result quick,quick ![]() |
MILITIA:Is $45,000 not the equivalent of around 5.8 million Naira? You are asking him where he can invest 5.8million Naira in Nigeria ? ![]() |

@TayoD Bush has a lot of failings but what I resent is the popular impression that he is irredeemably incompetent and that his reign has been a cataclysmic failure.Far from that, there are many successes one can point to. The unpopularity of the Iraq campaign has led to the ridiculous demonisation of Bush. This singular issue and his foreign policy in general has led to visceral hatred of the Bush adminstration as manifested in the amount of prejudiced information one comes across in the media and the internet. Being a bit of a nerd myself, who bothers to study economic data,I know that the picture is mixed.Bush is not an irredemable failure and is not destroying America. |
MAMAJAMA:Hang on a sec.Is your point that rising house prices is proof of Bush's failure? I find that incredibly bizzare.Rising house prices are a sign of economic prosperity.First time buyers may not see it that way but home owners love it .Household wealth in the US has risen to about $56 trillion.During the five years from 2000 to 2005, the US economy grew in size from $9.8 trillion to $11.2 trillion, an increase in real terms of 14%.By the end of 2006,GDP has increased to $13.6trillion-http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/gdpnewsrelease.htm(scroll down to Table 9 in the link) Effectively, the US economy has added $3.8 trillon dollars in value since 2000.To put things in perspective,Africa's GDP at Purchasing Power Parity amounts to $1.8 trillon http://politicalcalculations..com/2005/05/gdp-africa.html.The US economy has added an extra $2trillon to its GDP in a short space of time compared to the whole of Africa in its entire history.China's GDP at 2006 was estimated at $2.6 trillon(just Google "GDP of China)at Official Exchange Rate. Seun noted earlier about Bush trying to "completely destroy the US".If one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world, one of the highest per capita income rates in the world(25% higher than the EU),an extra $3.8trillion to the GDP amounts to "completely destroying" a country.May Yar Adua try and completely destroy Nigeria ![]() |
Seun:I posted it in rebuttal to his claim that Bush has given huge tax breaks. You are right, the reality is that he hasn't gone far enough given the extremely high rate of corporation tax in the US(its even higher than Nigeria's) Direct Aid to Africa has tripled under Bush I have made this point so many times in this forum,I'm getting tired of it-http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/30/AR2006123000941.html http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article2119042.ece http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/2995109.stm |
MAMAJAMA:Which corruption? MAMAJAMA:Patrick Fitzgerald after 4 years of investigation and millions of dollars down the drain found no evidence that the Bush Adminstration leaked Valerie Plames' name MAMAJAMA:Now,seriously, the above is ridiculous. The unemployment rate in the US is 4.5%-http://www.bls.gov/.At this point in the Clinton Adminstration it was 5.4%.This is one of the lowest unemployment rates in American history and one of the lowest in the OECD and the lowest in the G7 MAMAJAMA:Outsourcing of jobs is a global phenomenon due to the rise of China and India. This has nothing to do with Bush Corporation tax in the US is 40%,the highest in the OECD outside of Japan with 45%-http://www.us.kpmg.com/microsite/Global_Tax/CTR_Survey/2004CTRS.pdf(pages 3/4 of the link). In the UK its 30% and Ireland 12.5%.The Corporate Tax rate in the US compared to its rivals is too high As far gas prices go,the US is not Nigeria and Bush does not set gas prices.Gas prices in the US are one of the cheapest in the OECD. |
Seun:Its hard to imagine that because President Bush's approval rating hover in the 30s-http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/political_updates/president_bush_job_approval http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm His approval ratings are very bad by American standards. No President has had such approval ratings since Jimmy Carter and Truman. However compared to other leaders in other countries who stayed long in power-Chirac,Schroder,John Howard,e.t.c.His approval ratings are not bad.Chirac was below 10% towards the end of his tenure |
Seun:Carefully elaborate how Bush has made a mockery of each of the above. |
Seun:There is a simple rebuttal. The above is an opinion not a fact depending on each lawyer's perspective.Throughout American history, there has been tensions between the various branches of Government as to where Executive powers stop and legislative powers begin. This happened during the Clinton,Reagan,Carter Adminstrations,e.t.c. Whether each particular action represents a usurpation of power depends on who you ask.If it was patently clear that he disobeyed 750 laws, why do you think the Democrat controlled Congress is not hyperventillating over it in the same manner as you? |
Seun:What does America represent which Bush has made a mockery of? What are these things that even Nigerians will recognize as absolutely ridiculous and evil? |
If the Govt provided electricity, there will be little need for these generators.Having failed to provide adequate electricity, one branch of the Govt now seeks to levy generator owners.Ridiculous |
@oyb By your reasoning,or the lack of one,any immoral act committed by a Christian exposes the non-peaceful nature of Christianity. That is bizarre . I suppose by that measure, the actions of Sani Abacha tell us a lot about Islam.Same goes for Idi Amin.Your reasoning is baffling, idiotic and laughable The real question is,whether any of those acts you talk about, whether in-Rwanda,Iraq,Bosnia-were done in the name of religion.Did the Hutus kill Tutsis in the name of religion?Did the Serbs kill Bosnians in the name of Christianity? Its amazing how Muslims stretch the boundaries of logic to excuse their violence plagued religion. |
@cute ass Awake at this time of the nite You be insomniac? |
nossycheek:Is this some kind of joke? ![]() |
debosky:The former is a success but I'm not sure of Silvinho.I think you can throw in Edu as well.Emerson of Boro was a bit of a success then, once you ignore the fact that he refused to come back. I guess there have been few Brazilian signings of quality in the Premiership,in the first place, to able to draw conclusions. Now, that Kleberson was a complete donkey ![]() |
Tornadoz:Is blanket opposition to each and every single policy of a Govt constructive? Is sheer hatred of a Govt constructive? |
I wonder what proportion of the pollution in Lagos State is caused by such generators.I would guess its quite minimal compared to automobile and factory emissions. Bizs have to operate in Nigeria under heavy burdens, capacity utilisation is no more than 80% and any extra regulatory burden is counter-productive.It will have minimal impact on the environment |
The drawback is that you can have too many good talents.Remember 2001 with Veron coming in.Effectively, changes have to be made to the tactical formation of the side to accomodate the new players. Are we going to go with one up front? With Carrick,Hargreaves,Anderson,Nani, each costing at least £17million.Fergie might feel compelled to play at least 3 of them. Another problem is the lack of success with Brazilian players in the Premiership.Apart from Juninho,in his 1st stint at Boro,I can't think of any other Brazilian who has been a great success. |
9ja4eva:Like Debo mentioned,we don't have to pay the full amount up front. It is stretched over a few seasons subject to certain conditions. It's still means that we don't have money for a striker because it seems the Glazers are not prepared to spend more than £40 million in one season. I'm not too sure that we are okay in the striking dept.Rossi did well in Serie A but that's a different league. If Rooney gets injured,we are in deep trouble.I won't mind us getting someone like Viduka on a free transfer. |
@Tornadoz The evil man has struck again! Can you believe that that devil's incarnate(Bush) announced plans to double the US's aid program for HIV/AIDS from roughly $3billion per annum to about $6billion per annum.http://www.guardian.co.uk/aids/story/0,,2091703,00.html This marks a change from spending under Clinton which peaked at $570 million per annum. What do you think is the "true motive" behind this outrageous act ? An excerpt from the story: Backstory George Bush's spending on HIV/Aids is seen as a success story. According to figures published yesterday, between 2003 and early 2007 more than 850,000 people received life-sustaining antiretroviral treatment as a result of US funding. Before yesterday Mr Bush allocated $15bn for HIV/Aids funding between 2003 and 2008 but experts have estimated that this would in reality total about $18bn and contrasted favourably with the overall international effort. |
I heard Nani might be loaned back to Lisbon for a year.Anderson will join immediately. He is the better prospect of the 2 .With the cost of the 3 transfer(estimated at £52million),I don't think we can sign a striker again.Certainly not a very costly one in the mould of Berbatov. I wonder how they will fit all the players into the team.Someone suggested that Ronaldo might be pushed forward to play as a striker with Rooney. Its certain that Hargreaves and Carrick will be starters .What about Scholes,Giggs and Anderson? Perhaps Giggs will be relegated to the bench with Anderson,Scholes,Carrick and Hargreaves starting leaving Rooney and Ronaldo in attack. |
debosky:http://home.skysports.com/topscorers.aspx?cpid=9 http://home.skysports.com/player.aspx?plid=53628&clid=318&cpid=9 He is a Brazilian international with an amazing goals ratio for any striker |
I got the info on Arsenal's directors profiteering from the Times of London during the take-over saga.Although, given the one-sided nature of the article, its probably David Dein briefing against his colleagues Here is a report that mentions the cost of the 2 transfers just announced-http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/manchester_united/article1863006.ece Henry could have simply stated that he is not leaving this season. He instead chose to hedge his answer.I don't know why no one is talking of Alfonso Alves.Given Arsenal's penny pinching,he would be a great snip at less than £10 million |
Mustay: Una dey find strikers. How will you manage with only Shevy when Kalou and Drogba go for Nations Cup?Alves is a good player |

Can't build a decent house or decent plaza of shops. Maybe some Onitsha outfit shops without roofs, electricity or running water. So what are we investing in here
and of course Silvinho before he moved to Barca
