Nobody is talking about Afonso Alves(35 goals in 33 league appearances) in the Dutch League for Heerenven.Just got invited into the Brazilian national team.He is 26 years old. He can't cost more than £10 million -http://home.skysports.com/player.aspx?plid=53628&clid=318&cpid=9 |
I saw this in the Times of London. Its hardly a definitive statement of loyalty to Arsenal Henry also said he was aware of talk that he may look for a fresh challenge. "Since I started playing football there has been speculation about me going to a lot of clubs,” he said. “So that will never, ever stop. But as I said, for now I’m an Arsenal player. So there is nothing to add to it. For now I am an Arsenal player, so that’s all I can tell you.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premiership/arsenal/article1859261.ece debosky:I heard the Utd deal could cost up to £52 million for the three.£35million for Anderson and Nani,£17million for Hargreaves I'm still sceptical about Arsenal's board's generosity.Read somwhere that they take out more from the club-dividends,remuneration-than they have spent on transfers over the past few years |
@Debosky Is it really down to Wenger or has the club not failed to provide the funds? |
@Muki You told me on YIM that you really fancy Rooney, just admit it ![]() |
@9Ja4eva Abeg, dey show them ,make the haters see am ![]() |
Gunners should move fast. They can see their rivals are not resting on their laurels. There has been so much talk of the youthfullness of the Arse, forgetting that other clubs have some great young talents as well. While Arsenal are dithering, others are surging forward ![]() |
MANCHESTER United have scored a major summer transfer coup by swooping for highly-rated Portugal-based duo Anderson and Nani. Most of the best clubs in Europe, including Chelsea and Real Madrid, have been linked with one of the pair at some stage over the past few months. But a flying visit to Portugal by Red Devils chief executive David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant Carlos Queiroz has proved exceptionally fruitful. Fees have been agreed with the players’ respective clubs - FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon - and personal terms have also been sorted out. All that remains are the medicals and, in Anderson’s case, a work permit, before the formal conclusion of the transfers are announced. With a deal to sign Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich virtually done and dusted as well, Ferguson has not allowed the grass to grow under his feet since United were crowned champions earlier this month. Ferguson suggested he was after at least three new players to bolster his squad. But no-one expected him to act so quickly, with the overall fees for all three men likely to exceed the £40million mark, the first major cash splurge since Malcolm Glazer’s controversial buyout almost two years ago. “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms in principle with FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon for the purchase of the registrations of Anderson and Nani,” said a club statement. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/manchester_united/s/1008/1008087_united_in_double_swoop.html |
Imagine a midfield of Scholes,Giggs,Ronaldo,Hargreaves,Carrick,Nani,Anderson and the best of the lot-Park Ji "hide your dogs" Sunga bit racist,I know but I have Korean relatives No wonder Giggs announced his retirement from international football. With the prospect of increased competition,he wants to focus on Utd.We should get rid of Richardson.Sell him to the Gunners ![]() |
Excerpt from an article on Nani Nani is the latest outstanding talent to be produced by Sporting’s seemingly endless conveyor belt of world-class wingers. The same system that produced Luis Figo, Simao, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma appears to have unearthed another sensation capable of attaining the heights of such exalted company. Nani started his career at his local club Massama on the outskirts of Lisbon before joining Sporting’s famed youth academy. His speed, strength and trickery have led many to compare him with Cristiano Ronaldo, and like the Manchester United winger Nani has the added bonus of having a keen eye for goal. He is equally at home on either flank. He broke into the first team at 18 years of age, and made an immediate impression with his dazzling footwork and extreme speed, scoring 6 goals in his debut season. http://www.portugoal.net/PlayerProfiles/Nani.htm |
Here is an excerpt from an article on the Brazilian.I linked it Loyika style “Everything suggests he is going to be a superstar, a prodigy, as he has undisputable quality,” said Mario Zagallo, the legendary Brazilian World Cup winning player and manager, when asked about his country’s latest sensation Anderson Luis de Abreu Oliveira. Praise does not come much higher in Brazil. Zagallo, known as “The Professor”, holds one of the most valued opinions in the country. He is not alone in getting excited about Anderson’s potential, and it is widely predicted in Brazil that the youngster will one day succeed Ronaldinho as the star player of the national team. The next Ronaldinho The similarities between Anderson and the Barcelona superstar are not limited to both player’s long hair, silky skills and dazzling footwork. The two stars came through the ranks at Porto Alegre side Gremio, and ever since bursting onto the scene Anderson has been compared to his idol. http://www.portugoal.net/PlayerProfiles/Anderson.htm |
I will put this development down to the influence of Carlos Queiroz. The surprise is the Brazilian-Anderson-for there was no rumor linking him to Utd I do have my reservations towards signing a Brazilian to play in the Premiership. Most times it doesn't work but there have been a few succeses like Juninho(1st time at Boro)trying real hard to remember very succesful Brazilians in the Premiership Great signing though, hopefully he will be a great success. Our enemies are probably gnashing their teeth right now ![]() |
Manchester United have agreed "in principle" deals to sign Anderson from FC Porto and Nani from Sporting Lisbon. The Premiership champions are set to make 19-year-old Brazilian Anderson and 20-year-old Portuguese winger Nani their first signings of the summer. "Terms are agreed with both players and an announcement will take place once a medical and other procedures are done," said a statement on United's website. United are also on the brink of signing Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/6706423.stm This is a very good development if it comes to fruition. Two great prospects. With players like that, our squad will have the proper balance of youth and experience. |
Tornadoz:You are a mature grown man.Do you think its justifiable,in response to name calling,to say that a fellow human being is an "animal who does not deserve to live a second longer"? For someone taking issues with my so called condescending comments to seek to excuse such abhorrent comments is telling. If I agreed with your views and the reverse was the case for Afam, you will be singing a different tune.Hypocrisy in its purest form |
MAMAJAMA: MAMAJAMA:This is probably the product of poor upbringing .Won't be surprised if this guy is a wife beater ![]() |
@xytcod For a split second,I wondered whether Afam was right about you.He did not express his point properly but the essence of his remark is true |

Comments from Afam on another thread. This is not an exception but it happens to be the most recent I have come across: I wish we were discussing opening (face to face) and only God knows if you will live to see the next day because animals like you do not deserve to live a second longer. In the meantime tell your mother that it is not other people's fault that she has not been able to show you who may have fathered a pig like you. As someone would say "you are just a waste of orgasm", a "mistake" and a coward that belongs to the graveyard. It is the 6th post in the following link-https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-56197.0.html#bot @Tornadoz How do you see the above comment by your fellow leftist? |
@topic Are you also saying Yar Adua will become a tribal demagogue? |
Its amazing how Arabised Islam is.Not only is the Arabic language the "lingua franca",muslims often have to use Arabic names. Why people can't pray in their local language beats my imagination |
doncartel:Not if the "topic starter" is of ill repute. He suing for peace would be like Bin Laden asking for religious tolerance |
God is an Arab |
beebaybee:This is probably the triumph of hope over experience |
mr me too:Doesn't that undermine the integrity of your previous argument? You have already decided for Iraqis that Saddam was a "good thing"You could have simply said you don't know either way and that the issue should be decided by Iraqis. How they get to "decide" when they have been gassed and murdered in the hundreds of thousands by Saddam beats my imagination. Does anyone genuinely believe that most Iraqis did not support the hanging of Saddam, ignoring the arguments about how and when it was carried out |
MAMAJAMA:There is fundamental fallacy in asking the question "how can you support this war"?It assumes the premise as proven viz, withdraw US troops and the war ends.My evaluation is that the war will escalate with the withdrawal of US troops. So the question correctly phrased should be "how can you support US military prescence in Iraq"?For neither you nor I know for certain, that the war will end upon a withdrawal of US troops. The false premise is based on the fatuous perception that the conflict in Iraq is simply one btw US led Coalition forces and Iraqis/Arab "freedom fighters". In reality, there are 2 conflicts in Iraq. The one just outlined and a much larger and more costly conflict btw the various sectarian groups in Iraq.In btw, there are all sorts of minor conflicts going on btw various insurgent and political groups e.g Mahdi militia vs Badr Army in Southern Iraq A withdrawal of US troops will end the first conflict outlined but not the latter. In my opinion, the latter will actually escalate ,due to the lack of trained and capable security forces to plug the gap left by a US withdrawal, causing even more civilian lives. It is the latter conflict that has been the most costly,in terms of lives lost. Witness the suicide bombing in the Baghdad market today killing 21 civilians.A withdrawal of US troops will not automatically stop such bombings. Why would it? This is the case that you should be laying out-Why you think that a withdrawal of US troops would end the war. You shouldn't assume your premise as proven. To the question,"how can you support the war"? My answer is I don't .In reality nobody actually does, not even Bush.He more than most would have loved the war to have ended as far back as 2003.I guess the real question we should be asking is "how do you end the war"? |
adconline:Probably both, throw in ignorance as well. When we were pleading for debt relief,we didn't realise we don't need them that much. |
