Finals are naturally cagey unless there is an early goal.I still think Utd would have had more to offer as an attacking force than Kidneypool. Anyway,my delight is that my two most hated clubs-Liverpool and Arseanal-end the season empty handed. Now,I don't want Arsenal fans to tell me about me female football ![]() |
Milan had the better of Man Utd at the San Siro but had the game been at a neutral ground it would have been more balanced.Another factor was that Milan came into the game against Utd with an attacking mindset, being down from the 1st leg. Milan v Utd would have been inifinitely more interesting than the dour affair served tonite.Liverpool were non-existent as an attacking force. They are the most boring side in the Champions League |
davidylan:Chelsea v Milan ? Comot dere!Man Utd v Milan would have been far better.2 attacking sidesLiverpool has joined Arse-anal in the committee of trophyless clubs ![]() |
Who is talking about the ref? Was Kuyt not offside for the goal? Milan were deserved winners.Liverpool and their drab football which Valdano aptly described as "sh.t on a stick" totally deserved their lossForza Milan ![]() |
MAMAJAMA:Technically, its not an occupation because their stay has received the full backing of the UN MAMAJAMA:A threat to their democracy? Before the Americans came, they had Saddam "mass murderer" Hussein. Now they get to elect their leaders MAMAJAMA:The Americans wanted Iyad Allawi's party in power, the Iraqis elected the governing Shia Coalition. That is not imposition of leaders by my reckoning MAMAJAMA:Sure, they don't have minds of their own. |
This thread may have been started to rebut accusations of terrorism but subsequently a lot of terror has been unleashed in this thread Where is Bush when you need him? |

Hargreaves signing will be a good addition. He will strenghten the midfield giving us more depth. This season,Fletcher was the only alternative to the Scholes/Carrick duo.His performance of the holding role for Bayern has been examplary. I do think he is not disciplined and does not possess the brightest football brain. He however brings an unyielding workrate to his game. We need a couple more signings-a winger and a striker-to have a complete team.I heard Bale could be moving to Spurs,I was always thought signing another left-back would be pointless as we have that in abundance.I won't mind a Micheal Owen signing. At £11 million,it will be a bargain for a proven goalscorer at the age of 27.If we retain Saha and bring back Rossi,it will give us options if things go wrong with Owen. There were rumours we might sign Nani-the Portuguese Sporting Lisbon clone of Ronaldo-but I just heard he signed a new contract which will put up the transfer fee.Any team that has Park Ji Sung as there spare winger must sign a new winger.Nani will be be worth the cost PS: Has anyone noticed the sudden fascination Arse fans have with female football? ![]() |
Imani:. . . and you are using. . . . screensaver I prefer to have a female child to a male child.Maybe my wife will give birth to 8 sons ![]() |
MAMAJAMA:By that measure, nobody who has ever accepted a job under the military era should criticise the Govt |
MAMAJAMA:I did watch the State of The Union speech and saw some of Colin Powell's address at the UN.The claims proved to be wrong but it is important to note that the claims that Iraq had WMDs was shared not just by the US but also by France,Russia and many others.Indeed, the text of UNSCR 1441,agreed unanimously by the 15 members, noted this very point. My support for the invasion stems from the nature of Saddam's regime. We had an evil regime that caused the deaths of 2 million people and was described by the Clinton adminstration as a "leading state sponsor of terror".I think the people of Iraq are happy to see him go. The post invasion phase may have been better handled.Mistakes have been made but I think that now is not the time to insist that US troops must leave unless you are fully confident that violence in Iraq will subside Most of the violence in Iraq is of a sectarian nature .People have this fatuous perception that the violence in Iraq is simply between the US troops and "Iraqi Resistance Fighters".That is arrant nonsense. While the media does focus on US military engagements in Iraq, most of the violence is between the various sectarian groups. How that will subside by the US leaving beats my imagination |
SAM MILLA:How he is he right? There is ethnic cleansing being perpetuated by Arabs against Africans.Ghaddafi himself has indulged in same, supplying Arab fighters in Chad with weapons in their war against African tribes. We know the Chinese are supplying weapons to Sudan because they have extensive oil interests but there is no stretch of evidence that the US is doing same. Not even the Sudanese have made such an allegation. What the US is doing in Sudan, leading international efforts to stop the genocide, should be supported. The problem is that they should be doing more. |
haywhy:What is the difference btw the Govt and Dangote? |
Tornadoz:Your responses on this thread are a classic demonstration of Benford's Law of Controversy- Passion is inversely proportional to the amount of real information available Being hopelessly uninformed on the conflict, you have resorted to making insulting remarks. The title of this thread proclaims that "Isreal doesn't want peace" but you have been unable to explain why the "peace loving" Palestinians elected Hamas and resorted to violence the very day Isreal completed its pullout from Gaza |
The little response this thread has generated is revealing.Had this thread been about Palestine or Iraq, you would have seen people trooping here to argue passionately. We have failed to recognise the expansionist and racist policies being pusued by various Arab states in Africa.Libya has attacked Chad twice yet many Africans will passionately defend Ghaddafi. The problem is particularly acute amongst the Muslims who can't distinguish between Islamic interests and Arab interests |
I don't think you guys get the sarcasm .His point is that the justification for progressive taxation when applied to other spheres of life exposes its absurdity. Here in the UK,income above £40,000 is taxed at 40% while below that is taxed at 22%.Its basically a tax on success and a disincentive to work hard to surpass the 40,000 mark |
Imani:This is what I don't get.If I loved someone and the person becomes an ahole,my love will vanish.I can't love someone who doesn't love me.That is just how it works.I don't understand people who love someone who doesn't love them |
MAMAJAMA:President Bush never linked Iraq with the execution of 9/11.Bush actually came out before the war,I believe in November 2002 and categorically stated that there was no evidence linking Iraq with 9/11 If you have a good memory, you will remember that the Clinton Adminstration called the Iraq the "leading state sponsor of terror".Remember the US bombing of a factory in Sudan,Sandy Berger(Clinton's National Security Adviser) stated that the factory was a chemical weapons factory for Al-Qaeda,Iraq and Sudan. If Iraq was a leading "state sponsor of terror",the US war on terror meant it was going to be attacked.Zarqawi came to Iraq in after the US attack on Afghanistan to receive medical treatment for his wounds and set up base there. In Northern Iraq,Ansar al Islam operated with impunity controlling a piece of territory unchallenged Iraq was in breach of innumerable Sec Resolutions including its cease-fire agreement. I think removing a regime that caused 2 million deaths in Iraq and Iran was a good thing |
Its ironical that a lot of people attack the US policy as based on an oil grab but the people whose violence is clearly motivated, albeit partly,by oil are the Sunnis.Almost all of Iraq's oil comes from the Shia and Kurdish areas. The Shias and Kurds want a Federal/confederate state where oil revenues stay with the region. The Sunnis oppose this as they will lose During Saddam's era, most of the oil revenue was lavished in the Sunni areas. Iran is going to step up their pressure on the US forces in Iraq especially in the light of the ongoing debate in Congress on the withdrawal of troops .I think the US should be ruthless with Iranian agents in Iraq.Up till recently, they have adopted a softly softly approach |
davidylan:The Kurdish people don't want to be a part of Iraq but I think the Kurdish leaders know that a Kurdish state is not viable(it will be landlocked and sorrounded by enemies) so they can be kept in.The US should let the Shia led Govt know that without US military protection, there will be no Govt in Iraq. They should use their considerable influence to pressure them into reconciliation. There is a limit to what the US can acheive and at some point it will have to pull out its troops and let the Iraqis take their destiny into their hands.I personally think that its the Sunnis that are the biggest obstacle but they are gradually realising that they cannot monopolise power anymore. It is time to bring them into the corridors of power |
MAMAJAMA:The very fact that soilders die in this war is irrelevant. This necro debate is pointless. If you want to engage in a necro debate, let me point out to you that the regime of Saddam Hussein caused the death of a 1 million Iraqis and 1 million Iranians. |
There is no magic bullet that will solve Iraq. The US needs to pressure the Iraqi Govt to attain some basic goals which essentially involves seeking reconciliation and an inclusive Govt. The violence in Iraq will in the long term require political solution. In the short term, the US has to stay beacuse the domestic Govt cannot maintain security on its own |
heyma:If you come out of UNEC in Enugu, cross over the road, you will find Opus Dei |
docokwy:Na only Yoruba people dey do back stabbing. Back stabbing doesn't happen anywherelse ? |
This is complete twaddle.Do you know how many soilders also write to the media in support of the war.The military has a million people under arms and its not surprising that there is a diversity of opinion. Another thing you will notice is how heavily US military personnel vote Republican when their ballots come in.I personally think that they should take a less active combat role in Iraq and withdraw within the next 2 years. |
There are also a lot of people who come back the Service programme even more intolerant, making a mockery of the people of the area they served in.We don't know for sure that most people come back with more understanding and I think they don't.We don't need this programme |
ThiefOfHearts:There are actually some people who don't lend credence to the biased hear-say in the first place. |
MAMAJAMA:From personal observation alone,Westerners live longer than Nigerians, without a shadow of doubt. What I disagree with,is the low level often stated as our life expectancy.I know its lower than the West but not as low as 44 |
laudate:It took you untill you graduated to realise the farcical nature of ethnic myths? I don't think it is proper for their to be a Govt programme for adult Nigerians to have "fun",meet friends and get "exposed" to different cultures .If you hadn't had enough fun,met enough friends and got your "exposure " by the time you graduate from University, its not up to the Govt to have a programme for you to do that. |
MAMAJAMA:The fact that your relatives lived past 44 does not tell us anything about life expectancy. As I understand it,it means how long the average Nigerian at birth is expected to live.Knowing a few people who have lived past that age tells us nothing I personally think it is flawed but I have not seen any well researched work attacking the life expectancy figures |
McKren:With your "towering intellect",even Idi Amin will not appoint you |
