I'm on the fence about legalizing abortion in Nigeria.

Mostly because there are some grounds that should be allowed to get an abortion.

1. In the case of rape.

2. In the case of an abused child who gets pregnant.

3. In the case of a deformed baby in the womb.

On point 3, abroad, mostly US, Canada and Australia, there are tests that can be conducted before 12 weeks to see if a fetus has some long term or life threatening conditions. If the parents choose to end the pregnancy after the tests come out positive, they can do so.

The truth is Africa is allowing religion to becloud logical reasoning in several matters. It is still in Africa they will prefer one evil over another evil just because it suits them. It will be more evil to bring a child to the world only to be a nuisance, making them so vulnerable & well exposed to all forms of societal ills that will make the child a threat or be killed with suffering & frustration by the so called parent(s). There should be more awareness of several safe sex methods and cheaply available to reduce unwanted pregnancy. Benin republic is just acting logical, because the law couldn't stopped those seeking abortion instead it has led to the death of her citizens who illegally seek such services from quacks. So with or without the law, it will be done. Why shouldn't them make it legal so that it will now be done by professionals legally.

Exactly, most Nigerians don't like to payback whatever they owe. I saw one criminal complaining to the bank customer service, that he is getting deductions on his account. That they should stop all debits. The lady asked if he had ever taken a loan anywhere, he reluctantly agreed but pleaded for stoppage. Lady asked if he didn't intend on paying them. How can they fight back when they are obviously powerful & trained to kill unarmed citizens for #50. And stray bullet killing. No police in the world can combat crime without intelligent policing, which is largely successful due to community policing method. So how can they collaboration with the host community when police have turned them into specimen for extrajudicial killing, harassment, extortion, etc. Lastly, how will they even be sensitive to crime prevention, combatting when they are constantly on remittance target. How were they even recruited into the force?! What training received? What gadgets are available outside expired weapons they carry? What is the renumeration package for them? What are the strict supervision techniques against possible abuse of uniform? The police is just a reflection of the bad governance system. Don't expect anything to change.
