You have a valid point, however if there are strict criterion for career progression. A lot won't be gifted that position. It can also be a ceremonial position without needing to head the full ministry. Like in the police, not all commissioner of police head a state as the CP, the rank can be given and such a person posted to various supervisory departments/duties. Because like you said the person is a civil servant who is entitled to the service rule of 35years or 60years old.

Since when did competence form the bases for political appointments in Nigeria. Even replacements or recruitments in several public and private sectors use connection as the criteria.

Nigeria will be great again. He was in India last week and now in New York. The International community is taking Nigeria serious again.

Tell me the country Buhari didn't also tour for the same purpose. The international communities are only interested in what they can get without even having to do anything in return. Let him concentrate the energy to fix the infrastructures, i.e. Roads, power, security, reduce corruption, rule of law, etc. And see if those people he is traveling to meet won't naturally troop in to invest. Even those that have japa will return when they can confirm from their love ones that the quality of life has improved, the ease of doing business okay, the standard government polices & the strong intentions of the government to make things work. Until then, I call his trips tourism for enjoyment.

True. But most times to predict & entrust certain level of responsibility & commitment to anyone. His/her character, attitude & previous actions or inaction shouldn't be disregarded. If he hasn't behave well with his personal 10k. Why shouldn't worse behavior been expected when given huge amount. My point is, certain responsibility should only be entrusted according the person's capacity.
