Business / Re: FG Lifts Ban On Cryptocurrency, Introduces Taxation Instead by IMASTEX: 10:17am On Jun 08, 2023
YouandiAllofus:
Emefiele under MB's presidency introduced this ban 2yrs ago that almost crumbled the fastest growing digital space for currency in the world. Same emefiele now under BAT's presidency of barely two weeks have lifted the same ban it imposed about 2yrs ago. I wonder what has changed, and i hope the digital currency is able to find its trace to its previous status. Clearly, the quality of leadership has a huge impact in the quality of service rendered by the subordinate
This is why I was laughing at some people's ignorance when they were solely blaming the CBN governor for the Naira redesigning policy. They forget he is just an employee who must take orders from his boss. And irrespective of how sound his opinion might be, once his boss has a different view even with his weak brain. Then he can't have his way. Unfortunately, Nigerians don't resign because most only care about the pay.

Wahala for future age cheats.
Age should naturally not be an issue if the system was working with time & setting realistic requirements. I.e. no delays in schooling, available jobs after schooling, etc.

Politics / Re: Reno Omokri Lists President Tinubu’s Achievements In One Week by IMASTEX: 8:23pm On Jun 06, 2023
Acekidc4:
Tinubu has always been a Positive Performer. If he can achieve all this within a week, now just imagine the Positive Achievements in like 6 month time!! Yes, now you get it.

Let's us all put aside our differences and Support President Tinubu to make our country great. God Bless Everybody.
An average Nigerian is sincerely praying for what they can truly call a country. The people weren't willing to gamble with more political years because the one Buhari wasted was enough. Thus they wanted the candidate with the "highest odd" even though none could be trusted 100%. And those that disliked & distrusted Tinubu did so because he sponsored and supported Buhari who was a complete failure, tribalistic, corrupt & a waste of time. So if Tinubu continues in this light, reduce the wastage in government, tighten their own belt, improve power, etc. He will naturally attract the support of all except the political criminals who are only after their greed.

Politics / Re: NNPC To Discontinue Crude Swap, Targets Cash Payments For Petrol Imports by IMASTEX: 11:07am On Jun 05, 2023
NNPC was the sole importer of petroleum product. They determine the quantity imported, pay themselves subsidy with the approval of the minister of petroleum. Don't ask me who that was. Now another ministry of the govt "financial" says the amount paid for subsidy is fraud because the quantity subsidized & supplied is far lesser in reality. So who pocket the difference?! The govt is the biggest scam! The marketers they are blaming for diverting fuel to neighboring countries is child's play. Meanwhile, it is still the govt agencies that let it pass thr routes.

Politics / Re: Benin Republic Citizens Bemoan Fuel Subsidy Removal, Nigerians React by IMASTEX: 7:30pm On Jun 02, 2023
nairalanda1:

Oga, this is not propaganda.

It has been going on for years. That is how we keep losing money

And the same thing happens in Venezuela.....

Look, I know Tinubu and company are not the best we can do for this country...but this part is not propaganda. There are articles and papers and diagrams online that detail the extent of the smuggling problem.

Or have you forgotten the brave Customs officer who exposed what was going on?

Removal of subsidy has ended the cheating that some marketers were doing. Make them work hard for their money.

How do they move these products passed the security, if they aren't getting their cut.
Nigerians have also be smuggling in rice, cars, etc from Benin Republic. The issue is tied to a weak institution. How can Nigeria be said to be consuming 60m litres of PMS daily?! And a reasonable govt won't investigate & probe such huge number. But go ahead to subsidy if not that the same govt is corrupt. Well, Nigeria should also be ready to welcome most of them as they will migrate into the country.

You can't still compare a developed country with a strong institution & system in place with a country that is yet to even have a proper foundation. Though he is obviously physically unfit yet the country won't suffer basic needs because of the strong system. But for the case of Nigeria, almost everything starts & ends at the presidency because of too much concentration of power at the centre.
Politics / Re: Subsidy: FG To Fix One Refinery Before December — Kyari by IMASTEX: 9:27am On Jun 02, 2023
GeneralPula:
Good one..

Just take at look at the people that have been asking why government hasn’t fix any of our refineries..

Same them are here now saying something else..

This is because the government has created a distrust among the people, hence can never be trusted by sane minds. Moreover it's more of a game to distract the people from resisting the subsidy removal. A serious government will start by upgrading the refinery before moving to remove the subsidy after all that was the reason they all including BAT resisted GEJ then. He had the option to make the country consumes her locally refined product or fix power before addressing subsidy. Where will the money come from, of course from the wastage, loot and borrowing as usual.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Has Ordered Palliatives To Cushion Effects Of Subsidy Removal – Kyari by IMASTEX: 9:09am On Jun 02, 2023
The only reasonable palliative is to significantly improve power supply to at least 22 hours per day. Any other form is looting in disguise. Power will significantly reduce household & business expenses for fuel.

We should all support Tinubu to succeed.
Same way he supported Jonathan for wanting to remove the same subsidy?! With all the support Buhari got at least for his first tenure wasn't he still a capital failure?! It's actually not about seeking support from the people who obviously have been supportive and expecting things to turnaround for good. But the problem is that those in government have no good intentions for the country.

Politics / Re: NNPC Hikes Petrol Prices Across Nigeria. List. by IMASTEX: 1:39pm On May 31, 2023
GeneralPula:
Subsidy ends by June ending and June is starting tomorrow..

Now, they’ve started selling at new price already. I assume they’ll do this for 30days!

From between May31-June31..

By July 1, What now happens? Will prices come down or goes up or remain this same?

I smell some sort of set up in this whole thing. Seem the previous government had it all in plan!

But it seem tinubu has/is trying to outsmart whatever plan, with the pronouncement..

Observation is on-going..
My permutation is that, the independent marketers want to cash out from yesterday till end of June. So they can make enough and use the money to buy at a price that will be determined by Dangote as he rolls out his product in July. It's a game plan by those in government.
