Dear Nigerians,
It saddens my heart, and makes a complete nonsense of my sense of patrotism that a handful of humans have called and are calling nigerians fools to their faces. How then can you explain all that has surrounded the presidency over the past 93 days?
Dear Nigerians, something drastic is going to happen in the presidency on a morning over the next seven days. It will be very drastic. Everyone that has contributed to making a public show of nigerians will find their rightful place. I rest my case. Nature will always seek equilibrium!

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Is A Coward! by Imeobong(m): 10:29am On Feb 25, 2010
[quote from the guardian newspaper of 25/02/2010]If members of the Executive Council of the Federation (EXCOF) had taken a vote last Wednesday, February 17, 2010, they would have successfully invoked Section 144 of the Constitution and declared President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua incapacitated going by the mood of the ministers at the Council Chambers. Foreign Affairs Minister Ojo Madu-ekwe had in a surprise move called for a revisit of the controversial memo by Information and Communications Minister Dora Akunyili.

In that memo, Akunyili had tried to prick the conscience of the EXCOF members, who had earlier said Yar’Adua was fit to continue to rule in spite of his health problems, for them to have a rethink on the matter and do what to her was the right thing. The meeting became rancorous with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Adamu Aliero shouting down his colleagues.

In the end, the ministers agreed to set up a six-man delegation to Saudi Arabia not only to ascertain the health status of the President but also to thank Saudi Arabian King for his hospitality towards the Nigerian President. But, according to sources at the meeting, truth is the idea of sending a six-man cabinet delegation to Saudi was just to give the pro-Yar’Adua camp a soft landing of sort because if the ministers had gone for the kill, they would have taken Yar’Adua out because the pro-Jonathan ministers had suddenly taken the upper hand.

“They were certainly in the majority and they were rooting for Yar’Adua to be declared incapacitated but Acting President Goodluck Jonathan then did not allow a vote to be taken,” said a source at the meeting.

PoliticsTurai Coup D'etat: How Turai Yar’adua Seized Power by Imeobong(op): 9:38am On Feb 25, 2010
Source: http://www.saharareporters.com/real-news/sr-headlines/5284-turai-coup-detat-how-turai-yaradua-seized-power.html

A security source in Abuja told Saharareporters that the sudden and sneaky return of Umaru Yar’Adua to Nigeria in the early hours of this morning was “Turai’s attempt at a coup d’etat.” Our investigations reveal that the latest dramatic twist in the Yar’Adua saga was long in coming. Saharareporters had reported persistently that Turai Yar’Adua and her husband’s core political associates and so-called “kitchen cabinet” were afraid of permanently losing power, and the longer Yar’Adua remained sick, the more obvious that reality became.

The key plotters of Yar’Adua’s audacious midnight “return” to Abuja, as earlier reported by Saharareporters, are Hajia Turai; James Ibori, the former Delta State Governor; Tanimu Kurfi, Yar’Adua’s Chief Economic Adviser; Adamu Aliero, the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory; and Gen. Sarki Mukhtar (rtd), the National Security Adviser.

The kitchen cabinet’s plot to bring in a still bed-ridden Yar’Adua was dictated by their desire to salvage several of their big economic deals they felt would be threatened by “Acting President” Goodluck Joanthan. Tanimu Kurfi and his team are in the thick of plans to award oil block allocations to the Chinese government and to sign a huge gas deal with Russia. Turai and members of the kitchen cabinet stand to receive lucrative pay-offs from the two deals. But they feared that the deals might collapse after Jonathan indicated he wanted to stop work on oil allocation deals.

While Yar’adua was away in a Jeddah hospital, the hawks around him succeeded in forging his “signature” on a supplementary Appropriation Bill and also succeeded in pushing through oil-lifting contracts in December 2009. But they feared that, without Yar’Adua’s presence in Nigeria, their other deals in the pipeline could be thwarted.

Although Yar’adua’s return was facilitated by members of the kitchen cabinet, facts are now emerging as to how the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, was co-opted into the deal. Our sources indicate that Dambazau last night ordered the deployment of two battalions in Abuja without clearing with Jonathan, the acting president. A diplomatic source from an EU nation told Saharareporters, “The ability of the army chief to move troops without the knowledge or approval of the acting president raises serious security questions.”

Our sources indicated that Dambazau is deeply implicated in improper financial deals that made it easy for the Yar’adua hawks to enlist him in their plans. According to a petition shown to Saharareporters, the COAS, through the Ministry of Defense, had awarded “peacekeeping” contracts worth N9 billion to fictitious companies reportedly owned by James Ibori, an Israeli arms supplier, Alon Neiken (the owner of Megaplaza in Lagos) and Dambazau. Sources told Saharareporters that Dambazau has a stake in four of the companies that received the jumbo “peacekeeping” contracts. The companies involved in the scandalous contracts are HIS Nigeria, Nurit International, Yommy Logistics, Mass International, Arsenal International and M-2 International, were reportedly involved in the scandalous contract.

Yar’Adua’s core loyalists from the office of the National Security Agency confronted Dambazau with the petition, which had been submitted to the EFCC and copied to the NSA last Monday. “The team basically blackmailed Dambazau with their knowledge of the peacekeeping contracts,” said a source. Dambazau, a Lieutenant General in the Nigerian Army, reportedly objected to earlier calls to take over power and fought back initially. But he soon gave in and started taking orders from Yar’Adua’s ADC, Mustapha Onoedieva, an army infantry colonel, to deploy troops without question. We have determined that, in addition to Goodluck Jonathan, neither the Director General of State Security Services nor the Inspector-General of Police knew what was going on.

Since Yar’Adua’s return to Nigeria this morning, members of the kitchen cabinet have engaged in several maneuvers to move their agenda forward. Part of their gambit was a plan to dissolve the cabinet today. “That plan was shelved because they knew it would be impossible without Yar’Adua putting up a physical appearance to explain himself to the nation or approach the Nigerian Senate to approve a list of new ministers,” said a source aware of the moves.

Saharareporters had reported that Yar’Adua’s return would mean his “going to sleep” upon arrival while his minions figure out what to do about him. That situation has not necessarily changed, given all the trouble Team Turai has taken to ensure nobody sees the feeble, bed-bound Yar’adua in the foreseeable future – if anyone ever does. The residence where Yar’adua lies comatose has been medically fortified and secured by Nigerian soldiers and access is highly restricted. Our sources said several medical doctors imported from Saudi Arabia would manage Yar’adua’s so-called “recuperation”. There is no timeline for how long this would last, but several sources told us that it would be as long as the associates can get away with holding the farce in place. “They have enough cash to buy noisy legislators and will also be using threats of assassinations to silence those who speak out for Yar’adua’s impeachment,” said one of the sources.

Meanwhile, Saharareporters has learned that the sudden return of Yar’Adua was as a result of the decision of the Saudi authorities to minimize the diplomatic pressure that his indefinite stay in the Kingdom was inflicting on them.

Also, Yar’Adua’s wife chose to move him out of Jeddah yesterday because some of the Ministers visiting the kingdom were insisting on seeing him, going through the Saudi government.

Sources in Abuja and Saudi Arabia told Saharareporters that Turai had contacted the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe, and persuaded him to delay the trip and to re-route the six-ministers to Riyadh first. This delay enabled her to move quickly to evacuate her still gravely sick husband out of Jeddah, the sources said.

Maduekwe’s bizarre change of plan and his puzzling statement that the cabinet team was not on a medical mission was a script handed to him by Turai, said our sources. Maduekwe’s changed itinerary was contrary to the original plan of the Federal Executive Council for the six-man team first to visit Yar’Adua in Jeddah, and then make a “Thank You” visit to the King of Saudi Arabia before returning home. Playing his part in Turai’s script, Maduekwe connived with aviation officials at the Presidency to delay the trip by one day. By the next day and to the utter shock of the other cabinet ministers who took the decision to send the team to Saudi Arabia, Maduekwe had unilaterally changed both the mission of the team and its itinerary.

Meanwhile, the time Maduekwe had bought for Team Turai was being taken advantage of. Thus, by the time the FEC delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia, Turai had succeeded in packaging Yar’Adua into an air ambulance and left for Abuja. The Ministers—besides Maduekwe—were shocked, and found themselves scampering back to Nigeria early this morning.

Yar’Adua’s arrival was a dramatic display of desperation and power-grab by his wife and 10 other acolytes who have vowed never to allow Goodluck Jonathan to be President even for one day. Their plan is to use Yar’Adua’s “presence” as a trump card to ensure that Jonathan’s tenure does not gain any traction, and it has not escaped Nigerians that this morning’s statement by the presidency did not once refer to Jonathan in his acting capacity. An e-mail heralding Yar’Adua’s return, which was sent by Turai and partly written in Hausa to his foot soldiers, shows that she was having difficulties reaching some of them. This is probably because she had announced to them that her ticket to power and privilege, Yar’Adua, would be back in 10 days, but she was six days early.

Several sources in Abuja have told Saharareporters that the game has changed and that Turai’s next maneuver is to fully take charge of the government. That situation seems confirmed by Jonathan’s announcement that he would meet with her this evening. Our sources also say that she is on a mission of vengeance and her co-kitchen cabinet members are no longer hiding their confidence and pre-eminence. And to demonstrate their confidence, the former Attorney General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, is expected back in Abuja today or tomorrow from self-exile, according to a source in the government.

Saharareporters heard from several sources who noted that tension was high amongst government ministers as rumors circulated that their replacement would occur in a matter of weeks if not days.

Meanwhile, no one has seen or heard from Yar’Adua officially since his secretive return early this morning except the snippet of controlled information passed on to diplomats claiming that Yar’Adua was only resting because of the long flight and another group claiming that they saw him walk into the ambulance or descend from the air ambulance by himself.

The National Assembly is keeping mum as to how to interpret Yar’Adua’s return in view of their resolutions installing Jonathan as Acting President. But a highly-placed lawmaker told Saharareporters that Yar’adua’s return early today was to disrupt the Wednesday FEC meeting that might have declared him incapacitated if he had remained absent.

Several diplomatic and government sources told us that tensions remain high in Abuja, especially among politicians and government officials, with anxiety about the prospects of a coup in the air. Some opposition elements, including Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, were meeting in Lagos and Abuja to assess the “uncertain and dangerous developments,” in the words of a diplomat.

But an official of a militant group in the Niger Delta told Saharareporters that a military coup could be too expensive for Nigeria. In separate interviews, the spokesman of Niger Delta militants and the leader of Ohaneze, an Igbo group, told Saharareporters today that the notion of a united Nigeria may die if the Yar’adua camp engineers a coup to hold on to power.

WHY?

, in Saudi they (the bedroom cabinets and the kitchen cabinets) had an upper hand; they used everything within their reach to play the game, although not perfectly, we can at least agree they tried. Sustaining that game in Nigeria is very difficult of a task. This is Nigeria where people cannot keep their mouth shut. Information will leak like waters leak from punctured rubber basin, the true state of Yar’adua will be known, he cannot hide or remain incommunicado in Nigeria. Nigerians will know all there is to know about the man, when he goes to toilet, when he drinks fura de nunu we will all know

, oath of secrecy will not work here, nobody will mind anyone or gag anybody, and Nigerians will demand to see their leader who absconded from his post without a trace or notice. His BBC interview will not work in Nigeria as we will be looking forward to our freshly returned leader who will address the media and undertake TV-proofed outings. It is not enough to hear one minister say he is acting on the orders of Yar’adua, we will be awaiting his daily activities live on tellies, The FEC meetings will be chaired by him in flesh and blood, I warn these meetings will not have Jonathan presiding while Yar’adua maintains the stolen President title.

, as Yar’adua’s return he will be resuming the presidency of a more divided nation, how he will manage to bring the country back together is a matter that can only be imagined because the reality of it is almost as impossible as the camel and the eye of the needle gist. As Yar’adua returned today, we assume he is medically fit to resume his imposed duties. I am not talking about the invitation to squash game kind of fitness, but of sound mind and physically able to move from point A to B unassisted. I also hope he will be able to hold meetings and work effectively in these times.

, a remote control President is not going to work this time around, Nigerians are wiser and things are tougher than they used to be in November before his disappearance. The Nigeria Yar’adua left in 2009 has now changed since that time, the 2 weeks of Acting President Jonathan has inspired hope and renewed the patriotic consciences of Nigerians.

‘Can Yar’adua do what he couldn’t do in almost 3years in a little over a year?’, is the question of the next one week.

Welcome home Mr Umaru Yar’adua, as a citizen of Nigeria you have the right to your country, but why come like a thief in the middle of total dark night? This is Nigeria, a country you are supposed to be the President, not just an ordinary citizen like me.

PoliticsAtiku Visits Jonathan, Pledges Loyalty by Imeobong(op): 6:08pm On Feb 23, 2010
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar last night paid a visit to the Acting President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aguda House in a show of support.

Atiku spent more than 45 minutes with the Acting President and held a closed door meeting. Details of the meeting was not available as at press time but sources privy to the visit told Pointblanknews.com that issues discussed bordered on the political situation in the country.

The source further stated that the former Vice President and chieftain of the Action Congress, AC pledged his support and loyalty to the Acting President.

“The former Vice President promised to support the Acting President in any way possible and they both discussed on how to move the country forward in view of the current political issue,” a source told Pointblanknews.com.

Atiku belongs to the People’s Democratic Movement, PDM, a political group led by late General Shehu Yar’Adua, elder brother of President Musa Yar’Adua. During the 1999 Presidential election, the group adopted former President Olusegun Obasanjo, a close ally of the late Shehu Yar’Adua. Obasanjo’s acceptability in the North was said to be largely as a result of the PDM.

PoliticsRemove Iwu From Inec, United States Urges Nigeria by Imeobong(op): 6:03pm On Feb 23, 2010
The US government has requested the Nigerian government to sack Maurice Iwu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to give room for credible elections where Nigerians can freely choose their leaders.

Johnnie Carson was responding to questions from Senator Russ Feingold (D) a ranking member of the US Senate and chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee sub-committee on Africa Affairs, at a hearing on Nigeria.

The hearing is still in progress, with Mr. Carson giving his feedback about a recent trip to Nigeria. The committee also has also invited Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, as a witness, curiously, the hearing is taking place in room "SD-419" at the US Congress.

In the past few days, Acting President Goodluck Jonathan has been telling members of the international community, including former US President George W. Bush, that he will make sure that next year's elections in Nigeria are credible.

Please dont believe this story as the Sun-Newspaper have been paid to publish conflicting information concerning the Actting President thier headlines for the past 6 days have been so misleading, after the failure of the House of Reps deligate in Saudi Arabia and the FEC decision to send 6-man delegation to Saudi, they came up with this Headline:  Why Nigerians Can’t See Yar’adua –reps  which was just a fabricated story by the cabals to justify why Yar-adua could not be seen by the Reps members and why the 6-man FEC deligate will also fail. And this information was not confirm by any other paper, it was only in the Sun-Newspaper
If I can remember, the Sun_Newspaper from the onset have always been publishing storys that looks like fairy tales: FATHER SLEEPS WITH MOTHER-IN-LAW, MAN BE-HEAD STEP-MOTHER, 29 YEAR OLD MAN IMPREGNATE SISTER etc   etcc

The plot to sabotage the Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan may have taken a more desperate and deadly twists as the principal actors have now put together a whooping N6Billion for the ‘stop Goodluck’ project.

On  Tuesday the Presidential spokesman, Ima Niboro in a statement said there were grand designs by those he tagged ‘ungodly and wicked’ to pull down the administration of Jonathan. On Thursday a national daily (The Sun) carried a front page smear campaign flavored with sundry baseless accusations, innuendoes and allegations all in an apparent attempt to undermine the integrity of the Acting President.

The plot, sources hinted Pointblanknews.com, is to ensure a return to the status quo( Yar’Adua),  protect their positions, avert possible prosecutions, and avoid any look in  skeleton laden closets. Pointblanknews.com learnt that between December 2009 and January 2010, billion naira contracts have been awarded or renewed by some ministers and head of agencies without recourse to Jonathan while he was Vice President.

Specifically, a multi-Billion Dollar oil lifting contract was said to have been renewed without any presidential approval by the cabal loyal to ailing President Yar’Adua

The mind set was, Yar’Adua will be back, even if he has to be brought back wired up and in a wheel chair. This also informed the desperation by some ministers, Governors, and National Assembly members to stall the emergence of Jonathan.

Top security sources told pointblanknews.com on Thursday night that this intensely sinister cabal has already incorporated the Power and Steel minister, Lanre Babalola. His role is to ensure a well coordinated sabotage of the oil and gas sectors.
Babalola is expected to ensure the current fuel scarcity and blowing up of pipeline does not abate.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the membership of this desperate flank include ex Delta Governor, James Ibori,  Kwara state Governor, Bukola Saraki, business mogul, Aliko Dangote, Turai Yar’Adua, Economic Adviser, Tanimu Yakubu, Media mogul, Nduka Obaigbena;   Bauchi Governor, Isa Yuguda and Agriculture minister, Abba Ruma.

The N6 Billion war chest is meant among others, to sponsor damaging stories, opinions, and feature articles in several media, mobilize 5 th columnist in the armed forces, and compromise some errant militant groups in the Niger Delta region.

Pointblanknews.com had reported exclusively moves by some politicians to encourage a military putsch,  The Joint Revolutionary Council (JRC), had in a statement said some of the allied groups have been approached by members of this group. The move, they claim is to ensure consistent sabotage of gas pipelines in the delta region, and consequently question the ability of Jonathan to act effectively as Commander-In -Chief.

According to Pointblanknews sources, Ibori leads the committee that will disburse funds to the militant groups; Obaigbena is expected to handle the media angle. He has already contacted groups like JRC which rebuffed his move.  Also on this committee is Yar’Adua’s son-in-law, Yuguda.

Dangote, Saraki, and Turai, security source disclosed, are in charge of general coordination and administration. However, Turai who has coordinated the activities of this cabal from Saudi Arabia calls the shots.

There are also those tagged foot soldiers by our sources. This group will do the running around, and serve as a link with the fifth columnists.

Efforts to speak with spokesman Niboro were unsuccessful as at press time.

We have been witnesses and spectators to the retrogressive and heartless agenda by some misguided hawks in the out-going president Yar-Adua kitchen cabinet to mortgage the destiny and birthright of over 150 million Nigerians just for red pottage and their bellies at any cost. They are so parochial, myopic in assessment of events that they forgot that power belongs to God and that man proposes but God disposes. They imagine vain things in their hearts and could not even assimilate the grotesque impact of humanitarian crises in a country like Nigeria were there evil plan to come through. Some of their families are relocated outside Nigeria and within a twinkle of an eye they thought they can always evacuate the rest should a disaster occur. The Power above will always hold them in derision.
Here in the UK where I am writing from, many had already consigned themselves to the fact that Nigeria might not solve this cycle of constitutional problem where they deliberately worked against handing over to you as acting president pending the recovery of our president who has been away for medical treatment since Nov 23rd 2009 without handing over. That all changed when despite all the financial inducement and all kind of threats, the national assembly decided to pass a resolution on making you acting president on the 9th February, 2010.

In case you are still worried that Yar-Adua would come back and accuse you of insubordination; events and massive evidence point to the contrary that almost certainly that he might not make it to power again. Even if he does come back to power with Iboris and Turai convincing him to get rid of you as the vice president, posterity will always remember the role you played at such a time like this in stabilizing the polity and saving the life of many Nigerians; sparing Africa and the world at large of unimaginable refugee crises that could have overwhelmed them. That is if you decide to act now and drop this act of “gentleness”. You have demonstrated that since this crises began, showed patience, restraints in many ways especially on how dealt with the most corrupt AGF (Aondoakaa ) the country has ever had. The duty at the moment calls for some roughness in some way.

President George Bush handed over to his Vice president Dick Cheney for about 30 minutes when he was going for hernia operation but these heartless fellows whom their god is their bellies have toyed with the constitution and destiny of Nigeria. However, God in His unending mercies for Nigeria has given you the power you need to stabilize the polity, permanently resolve the constitutional crises and put these hawks where they belong.

Nigeria is a blessed country that has had this rare trait of almost always managing to pull herself back when she gets to a precipice. I am afraid if nothing is done this time around, we may be talking of loss of life including yours as well. So our dear acting President whom fate and God have consistently played part in taking you from height to height politically without any premeditated desire and plan of your own, PLEASE STRIKE NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!

With the maltreatment these hawks have given you as vice president till now; the abortive attempts to prevent implementation of supreme Nigerian constitution; the arrogant disdain of your power even as acting president; the recalcitrant refusal of showing us our president; threatening of some of the ministers billed to visit president Yar-adua in Jeddah despite the failures of many that had gone before; the increasing volatile Nigeria political climate; the questions we are asking is what other evidence are you waiting before you can strike and settle down to business of governing and fighting corruption?

Yesterday, your spokesman Mr. Ima Niboro, said the enemies of Jonathan had voted billions of naira to fight the acting president. He went further “They are wicked and ungodly and their time is up! Never, again, must we allow our nation to be strangulated by a privileged few who will rather fiddle with our common wealth while the nation burns. The truth is that not many a president will have the info you have and adopt the position of watchful waiting. Many would have struck far back. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain our dear acting president! Today a coup d’
etat took place at Niger and you have responded promptly as the president of ECOWAS . All the signs are there our dear Acting President. You have the rare and enviable opportunity to become the best Nigeria president our country has ever had but you have to remove these clogs in the wheel of progress which these hawks have been and continue to be.

Please strike now before these deformed individuals deal a fatal blow to you and the country at large.

Source: Daily Tribune 19/02/2010

THERE is a growing concern by some officers over recent postings in the Army. Their grouse, Nigerian Tribune gathered, has to do with the failure of the military authorities to adhere to the Federal Character Principle in the Nigerian Constitution.

Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune indicate that top commanding positions had been taken over by officers from Kano and Katsina, while Borno and a few states of the North complete the postings.

A review of recent postings, according to sources, showed that 90 to 98 per cent of soldiers in the Guards Brigade are from the Kano -Katsina axis.

Investigations also revealed that the command of fighting units, such as the one located at Jaji, Plateau State, had been ceded to candidates from the North.

It was also gathered that the 3rd Armoured Division in Jos was recently taken over by another candidate from the North-West during the recent Jos crisis.

Some beneficiaries of the recent postings include Brigadier-General Ram Mustapha (Guards Brigade), from Kano State; Lieutenant-Colonel M. Musa Gar; Commander, Guards Brigade Abuja, from Kano State; Lt. Col. U. T. Musa, Commander 4th Guards Brigade, Abuja, from Borno State.

There is also Brig.-Gen. S.N Muazu, Commander 9th Brigade, from Katsina State, while Brig.-Gen. Minimah, regarded as a professional officer, was moved to Defence Headquarters as staff officer. The Commander of Artillery Corps, who is described as another professional soldier, was recently retired.

A source said that some agencies monitoring the unfolding situation were planning to petition the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution indicates that all sectors of the country are to be carried along in the affairs of the country.

“14. (1) (c) the participation by the people in their government shall be ensured in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution. (3) The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few state or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies.

“(4) The composition of the government of a state, a local government council, or any of the agencies of such government or council, and the conduct of the affairs of the government or council, or such agencies shall be carried out in such manner as to recognise the diversity of the people within its area of authority and the need to promote a sense of belonging and loyalty among all the people of the federation.”

Sources said that some officers from other parts of the country were raising concerns that they were not being carried along in the unfolding exercise.

The issue of postings to the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta is also causing concern, according to a source. He said that the reality of the recent postings was fuelling insinuations that a section of the country was being unduly and strategically placed in command positions in the military.

It was gathered that some states in the Niger Delta spent between N200 and N300 million on JTF activities on a monthly basis but that fewer officers from the Niger Delta were being retained in postings to the operation.

Said our source:“There are strong grumblings among officers that they are being sidelined. Some of them are of the view that all recent postings in the military should be published. The Middle Belt is also being marginalised.”

A source said that the current fate of the Middle Belt is pathetic, as the leaders of the area believe that they have not reaped the benefit of helping to unite the country by fighting the civil war.

MINNA —THE Niger state Police command has intercepted two trailer loads of child beggars known as almajiris in the northern part of the country, who were ferried to Minna, the state capital for yet undisclosed mission.
The almajiris numbering up to 100 with some malams believed to be their leaders were intercepted at the Chanchaga end of Minna, the state capital as the first batch of almajiris were about to be “offloaded” at the “Allah Dey” junction of the town at about 6 a.m, Wednesday.

The take-off point of the almajiris and their leaders was not immediately known, neither could a conclusion be drawn on their actual mission to the state.

Our correspondent gathered that just as the lorry-loads of children passed through the Chanchaga police post, the police, out of curiosity, dispatched some men to trail the vehicles which later yielded a positive result.
Our correspondent learnt that just as the first batch of the boys were being “off loaded,” they were arrested while the vehicles were also intercepted on the spot and the occupants interrogated.
Unsatisfied with the answers, the trucks and their occupants were immediately led to the state Police Command Headquarters for further interrogation.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Michael Zuokumor, when contacted confirmed the development and assured that thorough investigation would be carried out on them.

According to him, “what we are mostly interested in for now is their take-off point, their final destination and their mission in the state before we know our next line of action.

“We are aware of freedom of residing in any part of the country of your choice without any hindrance but still, we should also be mindful of any suspicious movement that could lead to a break down of law and order in any part of the country and that is why we are being proactive,” the police boss said.

Fresh facts have emerged as to why the delegation sent by the House of Represen-tatives to visit President Umaru Yar’Adua in Saudi Arabia could not see the ailing President.
Daily Sun reliably gathered that Yar’Adua may have been moved from the guest house where he had been staying to a top secret Saudi Military facility where he is allegedly been attended to by doctors from the United States of America.

Acess to him has been further reduced, casting a big doubt on the prospects of the 6-man FEC delegation billed to visit the president in a few days’ time.

The inability of Nigerians to see ailing President Umaru Yar’Adua on his sick bed has been attributed to the decision of the Saudi Monarch, King Fahd Abdulaziz, to move him into a guarded military hospital.

A member of the delegation, who went to Saudi Arabia from the House of Representatives, but returned without seeing the president said last night that they were told that the president was recuperating in a military hospital where access was highly restricted.

Yar’Adua was first admitted into King Faisal Hospital on arrival in Saudi Arabia, on November 23 last year where he was diagnosed with a severe heart condition identified as acute pericarditis.
Since then, the president had practically remained incommunicado as delegation after delegation sent to visit him had come back to report the frustration in not being allowed to see him.

Only on Wednesday, the Executive Council of the Federation named a six-man team of ministers, led by the agriculture Minister, Abba Ruma, to see the president and convey the appreciation of Nigerians to the Saudi government. The delegation is soon to leave home for Saudi Arabia.
The Governors’ Forum, House of Representatives and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier dispatched delegations to the Saudi Kingdom to see Yar’Adua, which all came back with the same story of inability to see the president.
The report of the five-man delegation from the House, led by the Deputy House Leader, Baba Shehu Agaie, was expected to be laid yesterday, but postponed till next Tuesday.

When Speaker Dimeji Bankole called on Agaie to present the report, the deputy leader said the report was not ready, as only three members of the delegation had signed the report.
According to him, Hon. Jubril Adamu from Kaduna State had to stay back in Saudi Arabia because his daughter took ill, while Hon. Patrick Ikahriale from Delta State jetted out to Spain, the very day the team returned to the country.
But investigation revealed that the movement of President Yar’Adua to the military hospital restricted access to him expect with clearance from the Saudi monarch.

“I don’t know if the report will include this vital point, but we were informed by officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Jeddah that the president had been moved to a military base.
“We also learnt that the Saudi king imported three cardiologists, one from Germany and two from The United States of America to complement the medical team that was assembled to handle the president’s ailment, a source close to the delegation said.
Also, it was confirmed that the report contained the interaction with the personal physician of the president and the Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the South-South caucus in the House has been polarized into pro and anti- Jonathan groups.
Members of the caucus from Rivers State were alleged to be working against the entrenchment of Goodluck Jonathan, while those from Bayelsa State were in support of theacting president to consolidate power.
So he took his daughter to Saudi Arabia in what was suppose to be an official assignment?

How come most of them that made that trip are now sick? Maybe she drank the tea that Turai gave to the father and Just Like Obulafor she is now sick.
, and I am sure most all of them travel with their wifey
Naa wah!!! for Nigerians, oooo

PoliticsIwu: Why Soludo, Ngige, Uba Lost by Imeobong(op): 11:22am On Feb 19, 2010
Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu, yesterday in Abuja, reviewed the February 6 ,2010 gubernatorial election in Anambra State and commended his commission for a job well done even as he explained why the incumbent Governor, Peter Obi of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) defeated the other 24 candidates in the poll.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists, the INEC boss fingered greed and poor organization as being responsible for the opposition parties in Anambra state’s inability to dislodge the incumbent.
He wondered how the 24 parties, that schemed to unseat Obi, could have achieved their aim when in effect; they had spilt votes that could have come to a united opposition.

Drawing examples from Kenya, Iwu noted that opposition parties in that country found it difficult to dislodge the ruling party of Daniel Arap Moi until they fused into a united front.
According to him, simple arithmetic indicates that it would be difficult to dislodge Obi and APGA with 24 political parties contending against him.

He noted that the percentage of Anambra people that have so far collected their permanent voters card stands at a mere 33 percent, saying the figure was even lower than that of Sokoto state.

He however gave thumbs up to the people of the state for being civil in their conduct during and after the election. According to him, the incident of ballot box snatching was negligible adding that where it even occurred, the result was invalidated.
Iwu said the Anambra people displayed high level of comportment during the voting period and also lauded officers and men of the Nigerian police and the National Youth Service Corp for their role in ensuring that the election was peaceful.

His words "if there is any group of people that deserve my commendation, apart from the people of Anambra state, the police and officials of INEC, it is members of the NYSC.Those were a group of young men and women who showed extra ordinary commitment to their fatherland" .

Iwu, who further noted that hiccups witnessed during the election were merely administrative, noted that with the election, Nigerians have shown their readiness to be part of the democratic process and allow democracy take firm root in the country.
Though he accepted the fact of incomplete voters register, Iwu however explained that most people, who could not cast their votes on the day, were actually those who refused to take advantage of the window created by the commission after the voters’ revalidation exercise to have their names validated.
He disclosed that the commission had created opportunity for voters, whose names were missing on the register, to validate their data, adding however that the window was ignored, and that the commission was aware of efforts to inflate the voters register in Anambra state.

"There were some deliberate efforts to inflate and abuse the voters’ register. People registered all sorts of names and even inanimate objects in the effort to inflate the register," he stated.

Iwu said the commission worked ahead of those seeking to inflate the register to deny them of such opportunity.
Iwu, who also stressed the need for a national voters revalidation exercise, said the Commission will next month open its doors for voters to revalidate their names.
According to him, the commission will also next month, make public the guidelines for the next general election to facilitate early preparations. He said the process would start with a national stakeholder’s conference where some international figures would speak.

On the electronic system of voting, the INEC boss restated his belief that it remains the best option for elections in a country like Nigeria.
On the peaceful conduct of the Anambra election, he said it was an indication that Nigerians are ready to act differently if law and order is guaranteed.

Source----- http://www.saharareporters.com/real-news/sr-headlines/5198-how-deeply-divided-fec-decided-on-delegation-to-saudi-arabia-sgf-yayale-says-no-need-to-keep-deceiving-nigerians.html

More facts have emerged regarding today's resolution by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its weekly meeting to send a six-man delegation to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in search of Nigeria’s sickly leader, Umaru Yar’Adua. According to a minister who did not want to be named, the meeting began with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ojo Maduekwe, pleading with his colleagues that the crisis of Yar'Adua's absence was getting out of hand and that the body should at least find out for itself how he is faring in Saudi Arabia.

But not sooner had Maduekwe ended his plea than the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ahmed Yayale, dropped a bombshell on the council–in-session to the effect that the FEC should invoke the relevant section of the constitution--Section 144--and declare the missing leader incapacitated so that Nigeria could move forward. He stressed that there was no need to keep deceiving Nigerians any further.

According to our source, that unexpected statement threw the council meeting into a deep quiet for a while as the ministers exchanged glances. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Adamu Aliero, then raised a point of order. Upon being recognized to speak, he said that he had been informed last night that the “president”, referring to Yar’Adua, had started climbing stairs up and down--that is, exercising. His statement drew awkward laughter in the chambers.

The Minister of State for Education, Hajia Aishatu Dukku, also claimed that she spoke with YAr’adua’s wife, Turai, who told her that Yar'Adua was exercising for 25 minutes daily. This also drew further subdued laughter, as according to our source, none of the ministers considers Yar'Adua at his "healthiest" capable of 25 minutes of exercise daily.

The council then sought further comments on the proposal by the SGF for Yar’Adua to be declared incapacitated, our source said. At that point, the chambers was largely divided into North and South: while most ministers from the geographical South of Nigeria expressed support for declaring Yar’Adua incapacitated in line with the proposal by a Northerner, Ahmed Yayale, the ministers from the North, mostly Yar’Adua cronies from his home state of Katsina and Kano, vehemently opposed the idea.

Following a short break, which was necessary as things had become rowdy, it was quickly decided that a delegation be sent to Jeddah to visit Yar’adua and ascertain his state of health.

It is not clear when the delegation will leave on the mission, but one source told Saharareporters it could be no later than tomorrow, Thursday, so that it could return in time for the next Executive Council meeting next week.

Saharareporters has learnt that only 11 individuals are currently holding the entire nation to ransom regarding Yar’Adua's health. They are:

* "First Lady" Hajia Turai Yar’Adua;
* James Ibori, the embattled former governor of Delta State;
* Michael Aondoakaa, the new Minister for Special Duties;
* Sayyad Abba Ruma, the Minister for Agriculture;
* Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi, Yar’Adua’s Chief Economic Adviser and Yar’Adua bagman;
* Adamu Aliero, the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory;
* Shehu Inuwa Imam, a member of the House of Representatives;
* Aliyu Tilde, Yar’Adua’s Chief Security Officer; and
* Ibrahim Kazaure, a new Minister of Labour.

Others involved are Ibrahim Shema, the governor of Katsina State, and Isah Yuguda, his Bauchi State counterpart who is also Yar’Adua’s son-in-law.
