Ok guys, enough of this BAD BLOOD running through this thread at the moment. Let's make it more fun especially as most of us are staying at home.
Let's go back memory lane...
1. When was your FIRST (DRIVING/RIDING) TRIP on UBER/BOLT?
2. What was the experience like? Ok, so let me start with mine... FIRST RIDING EXPERIENCE It was on my court wedding day in 2018. I didn't have a car. I was supposed to use one of my friends car to convey my wife and some few friends to IKOYI REGISTRY. The car 'miraculously' refused to start that day and we were stranded. I had to rush out to the express to get a taxi to convey us. Got to GIG and saw some taxis there. Dude charged 8K, priced to 6K (without AC o). My ignorant self hadn't heard or understood how UBER/BOLT worked! After the ceremony, we were outside the registry and my confused self was thinking about how we would trek from the registry to the park to get a bus to Ajah. A voice from someone just said, 'Why don't you get an UBER?' In my mind, worst case scenario, UBER price shouldn't be more than 10K from the registry to Ajah. I quickly downloaded the app and requested the ride. The guy came and I asked him, "Please how much would you charge?" (I definitely didn't notice the estimate) The guy smiled and told me that it was after the trip that the price would be determined. In my mind, God abeg o... The trip started and it was a very smooth ride. No traffic, AC chilling, friendly driver... I enjoyed the ride, but all through I thought about the money in my pocket. "GOD please, this should not be more than 10K". The trip ended, and guess what? The price was N2,500!! I was so happy that day. I was like so I could be this comfortable in a taxi at a reasonable rate?? That was the first of so many rides later till I got my car... |

sofdoc1: This thread is moving fast o. Well done guys. I have some questions to ask about this uber driving. 1. Is it allowed for two people to be in a car while a rider is being picked? Might be needing help in case no 2 happens. 2. Also observed cases of riders not paying their fares, is there a way to know the option the rider would pay with before you pick the rider up.
I am a total green horn and would appreciate some answers. Thank you. 1. Courtesy or whatever, demands that it never happens. I have a colleague who joins me after closing. Any day I feel like entering the 'streets', I inform him and I go online. The moment a request comes in, I drop him off some meters before I pick up the rider. No one is supposed to be in the car before you pick up a rider. 2. That information is given to you immediately the trip starts. It's better with the Uber App where drivers can make a report of riders defaulting in payment and they make a refund to the driver which they later charge on the rider, but on the Bolt App, 'OYO' is the driver's case. I made a report for more than two weeks now for miscalculation in price due to GPS error and nothing was done about it till now. |

izzou: I understand that as humans,we can be lenient and compassionate sometimes, but I think some of you are allowing that to becloud your thinking
Simply notify your riders that you don't collect TRANSFERS for CASH before you start the trip.
I can even understand the fake alerts as scamming, but how you let a rider leave your car with the "I-will-do-it-later" line is shocking.
If he/she didn't want to pay with cash,it's easy to change it on the app.
Very simple something You: Sir/Ma, this trip is a cash trip. I don't accept transfers please
Rider: I don't have cash on me
You:It means you'll wait for me to see an alert on MY PHONE, or I could cancel while you wait for another
Wetin hard for here?
Make Una no let all these people dey ride Una. You: It means you'll wait for me to see an alert on MY PHONE, or I could cancel while you wait for another Rider: No problem, it's fine. (Ride ends...) Rider: Can I please have your account details? You: 2715478156 Blabla Bank Rider: Ciroma Chukwuma Adekunle? (To confirm he/she has the right bank account) You: Yes, please... Rider: Ok. (BANK APP LOADS INDEFINITELY) Rider: I'm sorry it appears the Blabla Bank is having network issues. I've tried it several times. While thinking of what to do next, a request enters, maybe like ×1.8... Rider: Let me try it again... Still same, no bank network... You: ... Bros, abeg how this scene go take play out? I really need to learn a strategy. |

skillip: Oh, sorry. it was from Magodo Isheri to Marwa Garden on Saturday. N1k at the end of the trip. his phone was having low battery and he promised to pay in 10mins once he gets into the house. called he refused to pick . Her number no dey go... Would still call later. By the way, I saw this message a rider sent to me yesterday. I saw it this morning. She requested a ride, I was in her estate already so I was driving to her location. She was calling while I was trying to negotiate a turn. I tried taking the calling and driving at the same time. My phone was acting up and I couldn't take the call. I got to her pick up point about a minute later and I called. She replied rudely that she already cancelled the ride because I didn't pick the call (She called once). I said no problem, it's fine. Another request came in and it was the same person. I slid on "Arriving Now". She called, this time I purposely didn't pick. Apparently she was in the next turn about 5m away because she sent a guy (maybe her boyfriend) to check if there was any car at my location. The guy peeped and said there was. I just dey inside motor dey smile. 5 minutes later, I cancelled. I no know say the babe dey vex till this morning. Human beings... I still dey wait for the Bolt Ban.

Guys, I guess today is #DebtRecoveryMonday. I have 2 cases.
Case 1 So there's this woman I dropped off on the 20th of February. Madam wanted to make a transfer (N1,700). Against my better judgement, I accepted since I felt she looked 'responsible'. She tried making the transfer and there was network issues with her bank (Fidelity Bank). I had another rider waiting for me and I left with her promising to transfer the money as soon as there was network. She didn't make any transfer. I called her the next day and she told me there was still no network that was why she didn't send it. Tried calling her two days later and she didn't pick her calls. Tried with other numbers, still same. Sent her series of messages, no response. I got tired and stopped. This is her number: 09066900466 Truecaller says her name is Onyeka.
Thanks guys. |

dru23: Let me chip in a bit.. This is a business and these business is not for everyone... partners do have a responsibility of their own. Some partners have to pay back loan etc..
That been said, if you are working in a corporate environment in a developed country.. Your boss or manger can give you a certain amount of time to deal with personal issues that might have . You are given sick days vacation days etc.. But once it gets to a point personal issues affects the business. Than your manger will have to decide what is important you or the business.
Business Ethics .. All businesses or business owners should practice this. But not to the point that it collapse the business.. Yes things are tough and it can also be tough for business owners.. True... Meanwhile, Oga Dru how were you able to resolve the shortage of oil issue in one of your partner's car? Presently facing similar issues. |

Guys, let's end this abeg. The deed has already been done. Whether anyone here sent the message to her parents or not is none of anyone's business. For one, it could help her parents 'rescue' her from her pathetic situation that's if there's any rescuing to be done, but if not, she should bear the brunt of whatever she brought on herself. How are we even sure the parents were sent the message She might be lying in trying to gain sympathy from people. |

peeps4u: So Gmap misled you? That one is not new na... GMap is 70 - 80% correct and wrong the rest of the time, especially when you are not too familiar with the area. Took a guy from Maruwa to Yaba, on getting to IKOYI ramp on Lekki - EepeeEee which my spirit told me to take, Map said go straight. Rider dey press phone. I say OK o, make I follow Map. It took me to CMS, told me to take Odunlami Ramp, and I took it. Rider looked up, ah an, you took this side I was trying to navigate my way out, na so LASMA catch me because of traffic light. The rest they say is history. Now I use this line when I'm not familiar with the destination: Please I'm not too familiar with this area. Do you have a preferred route or should I go with the map? Most of the time na, 'Its like you are new in Lagos' or 'Its like you stay on the Mainland/Island (If I'm on the Island/Mainland vice versa). And I give them an emphatic YES. In fact to some, I just dey enter Lagos the previous week and they turn to my unsolicited tour guide of Lagos. In all, we must still find our way HOME. |
