Guys please away from the SAME back and forth gbas gbos, I need clarification on some issues with BOLT.

1. Does cancellation (without exhausting the wait time) or declining of trips affect your rating? I started this week with a rating of 4.98 from 4.83 (I think) and at present it is 4.60.

2. It appears Bolt still charged their 20% after the completion of the 25trips for the week. I completed the 25trips on Tuesday or Wednesday (I think) and for subsequent days when I checked the NET as against the money made, I realized 20% was deducted as against 10% which was supposed to be deducted.

Your inputs would be appreciated.

I was at Allen Avenue yesterday as indicated by Google only to found out citibank does not exist there.
You can use anyone's bank app. Just make sure that in the narration, you use the proper reference code.

Who else got this email from Uche?
Got it too. Bolt is not strict (yet) with regards to sliding on "Arriving Now" when at the rider's PU. But I guess some drivers abuse it by sliding on it when they are still far so that by the time they get to PU, it would read like 5 - 10mins "Paid Waiting". I think that's what they are warning against. It's very wrong.

I only use that feature "wrongly" when I know I'm definitely not picking up the rider and the rider has refused to cancel. No harm done.

Hi guys, so yesterday I picked up a lady from Greenland estate Badore to Royal stopover hotel after Eleko. Trip was on a ×1.8 surge. Apparently the trip was booked by her friend.

Distance = 47.6KM, Duration: 111mins.

Trip ended at N9,100 (N800 discount) = N8,300

She started shouting that the price was too much, Bolt didn't give her that estimate bla bla bla. I explained to her that I wasn't the one that fixed the price and that she had to pay then complain to Bolt. She said she didn't have the money in her account, she had only 4K.

After waiting for so long and after it was obvious that she couldn't or wasn't going to pay more than that, I told her to send the 4K.

I put in "client paid less" and put in the amount she paid. Not long after I left there, a message on price review popped up. I couldn't find the message anymore because I clicked on it to view and it disappeared. I later checked the trip details and N4,800 was displayed (4000 she paid + 800 bonus).

Question is: Was there a glitch in the system or what exactly happened?

Abeg, make una help me reason the matter.
UPDATE
So guys regarding this trip in question, Bolt eventually paid me N2150 (half of the balance).

Not related to the thread but I just need some advice,

Trying to go to Ibadan via Ajah using google maps..

Is there anything I need to know, thanks.
If the map asks you to go through Epe, you might be tempted NOT TO because of bad roads. But my advice is: If it says go through Epe, please do. The roads are not as bad as I thought. Two Saturdays ago, I left Ajah by 7am. Map said I should go through Epe, I declined. I got to Ibadan by 4pm. I regretted my decision that day.

@ infinity.

It wasn't a glitch. A downward review was done on the price.

Bolt just needs a cut from the pie. It doesn't show the riders the exact fare, but it informs them that fares may be higher bla bla.

A typical rider ignores that.
Noted Bro. But what if the rider then paid like 2K? Would they have reduced the price to N2800?

Bolt surge trips make sense sha, when you are the driver.

So on Thursday Northbird and Lush were having views about the Aboki's, while I kept my view for better perspective.

I don't regularly pick the northerners, but of dis day, I got a request from Musa, called him and he asked me to "Be coming", funny me! Drove down to PU, notify and he told me his coming... few mins after arrival, I got a call of where r u (wrong location), he called another street and make me understand he's outside, waiting and d babariga he's wearing, so I totally felt it's going to b easy pick up (just look out for someone waerin babariga). Back and forth the street, can't find Musa, now we r both getting agitated, throwing blames on each other over the phone and if he should get another driver, till someone took his phone and gave me d right PU. On getting dia, he hopped in and as I was about to propel, he apologise and pled for a stop over at any pharmaceutical store to get pain reliever as he hurt is knee on his way out, immediately sometin struck me to ask, is ur destination right? He blab for seconds and ask me to talk to the person he's about to meet, lo and behold, Oga! Was going to d Island from Ikeja ard 3pm and wot I picked was Bariga cheesy me; Kolewerk, I bill him 5k, if I must embark on such trip, which he decline and ask me to take him back to PU seeing the traffic situation as well.

Las Las, after the whole drama and loan of 500, which I don't usually give to rider, but there's this strangeness of relating wit an Aboki, which I don't get often on dis job... he asked how much should he send on getting to PU? And I told him, whatever crossed his mind, since it was effort in futile for both of us, he sent 1300, the money got reversed and he was the person to call me yesterday to notify me about it, need for me to send my account for resend. Wow! [b[As much as crime knows no boundary, an average Northerner have the fear of God in dem compare to any tribe.[/b] Good morning fam, fruitful day Pope wish for all.
Very true @ the bolded. I stayed back in the North one year after service and this is what I've come to understand; About 80% of Northerners are very trustworthy in their BUSINESS DEALINGS as compared to about 40% of Easterners, Southerners and Westerners. However, I'll feel safer driving at night in the Southern or Eastern or Western part of the country than in the Northern part of the country.

I recently relocated to the east (I got a better job).) I noticed I make more trips here in the east more in Lagos. What could be the reason? I'm like 10 rides away from winning bolt 5k (55 rides) bonus. Something I would have laughed off when I was in Lagos.

I work half day Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then other days I start by 10 or 11am and close by 8 or 9pm or earlier
What's the traffic situation and road conditions there like?

ekehopp:
Summary of post: Go and onboard/register on Uber. Don't put all your eggs in one basket (Bolt).

So, Bolt blocked me again yesterday for the third time. Same low rating reason (I've now been advised to proactively boost rating next time).
1st time was 24 hours, 2nd one week. I've written to them (email and driver app) and they've replied.
This block is indefinite, but definitely not permanent. As it's not fraud I'm optimistic I’ll be unblocked sooner or later.

My position on Bolt still remains that they empower Riders too much.
Their rating is based on only 40 recent trips, while Uber is based on 500 recent trips.
So if you do the maths (arithmetic mean ...average), a 1 star on Bolt has far more devastating impact.

Anyway, I've defaulted to Uber, like last time. And my yesterday experience has left me feeling like a fool all this time I was running Bolt package.
I can confidently say again that in Abuja you can afford to do only Uber and you'd be at par or even better than Bolt alone riders, or those that combine.
My reasons are stated below. I made more money the 8 hours I ran Uber alone yesterday, then the 10 - 12 hours I have been running both apps combined any day in the last 1 week.

1] Because Uber has far less drivers, almost every other trip is a surge!
2] Uber has cancellation fee. So as far as you arrive pick up spot, your effort will be appreciated.
3] The fact that waiting time automatically starts counting down once GPRS certifies you've arrived, Uber riders are much more disciplined in putting up accurate pick up spots, and they hardly cancel.
4] Uber is more expensive to ride, so naturally oshofree people tend to Bolt, with all their rudeness and frustration. While Uber is patronized by the much more affluent and courteous/polite people. Thus, you drive with greater peace of mind.
5] Because Uber riders are more affluent, if you're smart you stand to make more money.
-The trips are surges.
-They often leave change/tips for you (A lady paid me 2,000 for a 900 trip yesterday because she appreciated I could pick her up so late 11.30pm when she had given up hope).
-You can negotiate offline better. (Carried a guy yesterday on surge for 1,400. I dropped off and waited for him at his destination. 500 for 15 minutes. And then did the last trip leg to his house offline (500). I ended up getting 2,400 in 1-hour, same time of which on bolt might not have fetched me more than 1,000.
6] Airport advantage. Because you're carrying more affluent people, they are more likely to travel by plane interstate etc. From my yesterday’s trip I already have one confirmed airport offline tomorrow. Uber airport request are also given on First-Come-First-Serve basis. So, you can predict waiting times at airport unlike Bolt. Plus, fewer drivers means faster and more probably requests.
7] Bolt has the market share and serves much more request, but that extra time waiting for Uber request is valuable rest period for body.
Please clarify the bolded. You got 2400 for 1Hr on Uber and on Bolt you'll have gotten 1K? Really??
