CrimeShocking: Church Guard Caught With Human Parts by information1(op): 8:28am On Apr 17, 2017
Anambra State Police Command have arrested a man suspected to be a security guard with the Nnewi Diocese of the Anglican Church for being in possession of human parts.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Sam Okaula, revealed this to Southern City News on the telephone on Saturday.
Okaula, who said he could not give the suspect’s name, described him as a cannibal, Punch reports

He, however, said there was no evidence yet suggestive that the suspect was a human parts seller.

The police commissioner said, “He is with us. Some human parts were found in his possession; and I think he is just a cannibal.”

When contacted, Venerable Godwin Agba, the administrative secretary of the Diocese of Nnewi Anglican Communion, owners of the higher institution the suspect allegedly worked as a guard, said the suspect was never their employee.

Dogs on a hunting expedition sniffed out the alleged human parts’ seller at Ukunu Eziora Ozubulu community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, our source said, was engaged as a security guard with the Nnewi Anglican Diocese at its proposed university site at Ozubulu.

The suspect allegedly used the facility for sale and supply of humanaparts to eaters and ritualists.

The source said the bubble bust when dogs on a hunting expedition ahead of the hunters returned to them and started exhibiting unusual behaviour.

The source said, “An eyewitness said the suspect, whose name was not given, was seen by hunters, who had no premonition that a human killer was in the bush.

“The hunters were in the bush with their two dogs, which went ahead of them, only to come back to inform their owners with signs they interpreted to mean that there was an unusual discovery.

“When the hunters followed the dogs to a particular point in the bush, they were startled to see fresh dismembered human body, including the legs, hands and as well as clothes suspected to belong to victims.

“The hunters, including two persons identified as Paul and Chimezie, were said to have rushed back home to contact members of Ozubulu vigilance group, who immediately followed them to the spot in the bush, but could not see those human parts any more.

“After a long search, a man was seen in the bush, who happened to be a security man working at a higher institution under construction.

“He was confronted by a combined team of the hunters and vigilantes, who arrested him in connection with the discovery.”

According to the source, he was overpowered and he led them to a river bank, where he hid the human parts.

Our correspondent learnt that he roasted the human parts for his customers who would drive into the forest at wee hours to purchase both for rituals and for eating.

It was gathered that the remains of the victims found with the suspect had been deposited at a mortuary.

CelebritiesStella Monye Needs Help With Son’s Surgery. Cries Out To Nigerians by information1(op): 4:34pm On Apr 15, 2017
Veteran artiste, Stella Monye, in a new interview with The Sun, has called out to Nigerians’ to help with her son’s surgery.

Stella, who was popular for hit track, Oko Mi Ye, opened up on her son’s medical odyssey, her pains, travails and hopes amidst despondency.

GenesisI had been part of the artistes working on the theme song for the Coca Cola FIFA World Junior Championship tagged: “Nigeria 99” held in Abuja. The theme song eventually became an integral part of the game. Before then, I had gone on other national assignments including the Horizontel World Festival of Arts held in Berlin, German. We toured Sabrieaken, Hanover, Bonn, Bremen, Geneva, and Amsterdam courtesy of the Centre for Cultural Studies, Universities of Lagos. It was a cultural exchange programme.

Shortly after that, I embarked on another assignment to Yamouskoro, Abidjan for the Universities Games where I sang the Nigerian national anthem. The next assignment came when there was an audition to pick an artiste to represent the country at the 150th anniversary of Abolition of Slave Trade in the Diaspora held in Guyana. This also fell on my lap and I toured the Islands of Caribbean. Those on the entourage of that memorable event included former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd) and his wife, Victoria; Prince Tony Momoh; Senator Chris Anyanwu and Lt. Tunde Akogun. I was the lead vocalist of a band which consisted of Bisade Ologunde (Lagbaja), Zeal Onyia, Peter King, Remi Kabaka and others that performed at the event. The Atilogu cultural group was also on the tour.

Sad news

I was neck deep in the preparation for “Nigeria 99” project in Abuja when the news came to me that my son, Ibrahim had fallen off from the top of a water tank and landed on a sharp rusted iron, which severely damaged his urethra. In fact, I was on my way together with other artistes to present the theme song to the then Head of State, General Abdusalam Abubakar at the Aso Rock Villa when my phone rang and the sad news was broken to me.

I thought it was a minor accident so, I advised that they take him to any nearest hospital. But that was the beginning of the drama.

Thinking it was a minor accident; I proceeded on tour of the country with the theme song, under the leadership of the late Christy Essien Igbokwe who was then the President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). I came back from the tour only to discover that the first operation had been carried out at the General Hospital, Ikeja, which at that time was in a deplorable condition. So, Christy Igbokwe advised that we should take him to Holy Trinity Hospital, Ikeja owned by her friend, who also owned Chrisland Primary School that my son attended.

Surgery

The doctors at Holy Trinity Hospital performed two major but unsuccessful operations on Ibrahim. This prompted me to open up to the Medical Director of the hospital who told me that I could go to India or partronise another professional Urologist based in Opebi, Ikeja.

At this point, I was overwhelmed and I cried out to Nigerians. I teamed up with my colleagues like K1 De Ultimate, Daddy Showkey, Orits Wiliki, Pasuma Wonder, Onyeka Onwenu and Lagbaja, and together we walked the streets of Lagos, creating awareness about my son’s condition, most especially, on television. Nigerians responded but some fraudsters, who pretended to be assisting us to raise funds, hijacked the exercise. So, I instructed that the campaign should stop, but then I was more concerned about my son’s predicament and so we forged ahead.

More surgeries

Many more unsuccessful operations followed at Urology Centre, Opebi, Lagos. This made me to withdraw tactically and re-strategize. Later, with some help and recommendations, we headed for Medanta Global Hospital, Gorgon Haryana, New Delhi, India where we recorded another failed surgery. On arrival in Lagos, I phoned Dr Guptar and lamented to him. He asked us to come back to India, but at this point, I was almost giving up.

Desperation

Out of desperation, I spoke to some people in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. I also went to Abuja to meet Senator Oluremi Tinubu who said I should take Ibrahim to LASUTH. She equally advised me to approach the government of the day for assistance. I took her advice; I approached the then Lagos State government for help but to no avail. I also spoke to other people but eventually I took Ibrahim to LASUTH and later Federal Staff Hospital, Abuja. The Consultant Urologists at both hospitals examined and referred him to Germany and also United States of America for further treatment.

I contacted Dr Michael Straub, Medical Director, Rechts Der Isar Medical Centre, Munich, Germany and I was referred to Dr Gomih, Medical Director, Urology Centre, Indiana, USA, because I was told he had just handled a similar case. I contacted both doctors and they asked me to do some tests, which I did and sent to them. However, I was shocked when they gave me a bill of $35,000. I appealed to Dr Gomih for sympathy but he said there was nothing he could do because complications had set in. Yes, indeed, my son had suffered some setbacks with some of his vital organs like the left kidney, bladder and urethra severely damaged after returning from India.

Appeal

Urgently now, we need about $50,000 US Dollars for Ibrahim’s surgery. I know the money is much or seems much but no amount of money is worth any child’s life. However, I am grateful to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State who has been sustaining my son’s life pending when we are able to go for his surgery.

CrimePhoto: Maid Arrested For Stealing Bosses’ $10,000 by information1(op): 9:38am On Apr 12, 2017
The police in Lagos have arrested a maid, Blessing Paul for allegedly stealing her boss’ $10,000 in Gbagada.

Paul was alleged to have forcibly opened the boss’ room with a knife and collected the money while the woman was at work.
It was gathered that the maid, who had been stealing money and other valuables from her victim’s home, handed over the foreign currencies to the house guard identified as Daniel. The guard, it was gathered, handed the money to a security man at another residence in Gbagada, who in turn took it to a Bureau De Change (BDC) operator for the Naira equivalent.

But the operator was said to have told policemen he received only about $5,000 from Amos.

Instead of giving them N360/USD, the BDC operator gave the suspects at N86 per dollar, thereby shortchanging the alleged thieves of more than two million naira.

According to the command’s spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), the woman they stole from was one Mrs. Tokunbo.

He said the maid confessed that the woman has been very kind to her, adding that she usually bought clothes and gift items for her to take to her family in Benue State.

Cole said that the BDC operator gave the suspects N870, 000 as equivalent for $5,000, adding that the police have recovered N400, 000 from there.

“We also found N400, 000 in the maid’s bank account but we are following court’s procedure to seize the money. The BDC operator was allegedly given $10,000 but he claimed he only received $5,000. Investigation revealed that money and valuables have been missing in the house, but the woman didn’t suspect the maid until the theft of foreign currency last week.”

In just a couple of years, Apollos is now one of the most trendy and hottest clubs in Ibadan, owing largely to its fairly priced liquor – and brilliant finish. The club’s ambience has a cosmopolitan edge with a beautiful blend of fun and youth. 4. Gentlemen’s Quarters a.k.a. GQ
This bar probably not as sophisticated as the rest on this list but its popularity particularly in this part of the city is the best. Situated along Awolowo Road in Bodija, the setting is comparable to traditional bush bars but its customers spans across all groups nonetheless. From suit toting businessmen to casual entrepreneurs, GQ accommodates most thanks to their moderately priced drinks and extremely friendly bartenders. Locals love it for the cold drinks, good music and nice people there. Simple as that. Very few folks really know that there is a club, because there is is no big sign or large entrance. Amadin said the agency was making efforts to reach the owner of the complex, with a view to knowing who rented the said shop 64.“The shopping plaza, from preliminary investigation, was built by estate developers. From the developers, we will get the owner of the money.

”The people around the complex know the owner of the money. The place has not been in use for a long time, the owner only sneaks into the place and keep the money. We will find the owner very soon, “ Amadin assured.

The commission, on Friday in a statement confirmed the recovery of N448.85m in a shop at the LEGICO Shopping Plaza, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

“The attention of the plaza’s Chairman and some traders were drawn in order to force the shops open.

“There was no money found in shop 67, but in shop 64, heaps of Ghana-Must-Go bags were found on the floor of the shop.

“When the bags were unzipped they were found to contain bundles of Naira notes totalling N448. 85m.”

FoodCompany Sues NAFDAC Over Alleged Contaminated Table Water by information1(op): 2:38am On Mar 30, 2017
A company, DAI Brothers Investment Limited, has approached the Federal High Court in Lagos seeking an order compelling the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to release the result of a laboratory analysis carried out on a batch of Aquafina table water.

The company, in the suit it filed before Justice Hadizat Shagari, claimed that it suspected that Aquafina table water, being packaged by the Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, was contaminated. In an affidavit deposed to by its Managing Director, Ibrahim Yaro, DAI Brothers Investment Limited claimed to have sometime between November and December 2015 purchased a batch of Aquafina table water from one Gjonny Enterprises – a distributor accredited by Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc.

The company claimed to have in turn supplied the water to a vessel, M.T. Marina, which was one of its customers.
MY HUSBAND USED “THIS” AND LASTED 2HRS IN BED!. CLICK HERE!!!
Yaro, however, claimed that upon consuming the water, the crew members on the vessel, who were foreign nationals, took ill and had to be flown to India for treatment.

Yaro alleged that following a close scrutiny of the supplied Aquafina table water, it was discovered that the said water contained some black particles or foreign bodies.

He said it was upon this that the company lodged a complaint with NAFDAC, adding that NAFDAC subsequently acted on the complaint and recovered 22 packs of 150cl of Aquafina table water from the batch purchased.

He said the water samples were sealed and marked for laboratory test in the presence of the complainant and a representative of Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc.

He added that the two parties were informed by NAFDAC that the result of the test would be out after a month and a certificate of the laboratory report would be issued.

Lawyer for the complainant, Jerry Omoregie, however, claimed that since 2015 NAFDAC had refused to release the result of the laboratory test despite several demands.

He urged the court to compel NAFDAC to perform its statutory duty by releasing the report.

Justice Shagari has fixed April 12, 2017 to hear the case.

CrimeThey Beat Him Up Before Shooting Him Dead-Details On Murder Of Jumia Deliveryman by information1(op): 8:54am On Mar 29, 2017
A delivery man with an online marketing store, Jumia, Mr. Chukwuma Eleje, has been killed in a house on Ada George Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The victim was said to be delivering two iPhones to some customers, who had ordered for them through the Internet on Saturday, when he was attacked and killed.

The assailants were reported to have dumped his remains in a septic tank in a desperate attempt to cover up the crime. However, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were said to have been alerted by residents.

The officials were reported to have swooped on the suspects in their apartment on Monday.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects – Sodienye Mbatumukeke, Excel Naabe, and Joy Eluwa – upon their arrest, confessed to the crime.

Eluwa was said to be Mbatumukeke’s girlfriend.

He said,

“Operatives of SARS, acting on credible intelligence on Monday, at about 3am arrested three suspects– two males and a female– identified as Sodienye Mbatumukeke, Excel Divine Naabe, and Joy Eluwa.
“These armed robbers ordered smartphones from a certain courier company in Rivers State. Then the company sent the phones through a dispatch rider. On getting there, the hoodlums beat up the dispatch rider and later shot him; he died inside their flat.
“After killing him, they threw his corpse into a septic tank. Our men, who were acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspects and they showed us where they hid the corpse.”

Omoni added that the state Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, who led other senior police officers to the scene, appealed to members of the public to always share information with the police. The two prime suspects, however, passed the bulk to each other.

Naabe, who claimed to be on a visit, said he saw Mbatumukeke pushing the deceased into the septic tank.

He said,

“On my way to this place, I saw him (Mbatumukeke); he was packaging something like a black waste bin. He was saying I should just go inside and chill out. He said he would soon join me in the room.
“I overheard some neighbours asking him what he was doing close to the septic tank and he gave them an excuse. I went inside and saw bloodstains in the bathroom.
“When I queried him, he brought out a gun and pointed it at me, saying if I uttered a word about what I saw, he would kill all my family members.”

The second suspect, Mbatumukeke, claimed that Naabe killed the victim, adding that he hit the courier man with an iron on the head.

“He hit him with iron on the head and blood was gushing out. I was afraid; I was vibrating. I didn’t know what to do. God is my witness,” he added.

When one of Punch's correspondents visited the scene on Tuesday, he observed that the house was deserted.

It was gathered that most of the tenants in the building began to leave the house after policemen recovered the corpse.

An official of Jumia, Mr. Naze Paul, told PUNCH Metro in a telephone chat that the throat of the victim was slit.

Paul, who works at the Customer Care Section of Jumia in Port Harcourt, described the late Eleje as a good worker.

He said, “Instead of them to say they don’t have money for the items, they cornered and killed him.
“I believe they are cult members. Now, before we deliver goods we will get money first.
“If we don’t get paid first, we will not deliver. What caused this nonsense is that we deliver before getting paid. The agent they killed was a good worker.”

The Chairman of the commission, Mr Muhuyi Rimingado, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by telephone on Thursday in Abuja.
Rimingado said that the health facility, New Age Diabetic Clinic, located at Dorayi Babba in Kano, belonged to Dr Abubakar Yusuf, the former commissioner for health allegedly involved in the scholarship scam.

He said the amount was part of 1.5 million dollars (about N458 million) meant for the payment of scholarship grants to 139 students sponsored by the previous government to study at Al-Mansuora International University, Egypt.

He explained that the commission’s attention was drawn to the development following complaints of non-payment of the allowances by the students.
The chairman said that the allowances covered the 2012 to 2014 tuition and accommodation fees of the students.

Rimingado said that the subsequent seizure of 200,000 dollars (about N61 million) by authorities at the Cairo International Airport from a Nigerian bound for Kano was also directly linked to the ex-commissioner.

The chairman said that the suspect had confessed his connection to the seized $200,000.

“Yusuf said the money was meant to finance a company they created but could not provide the source of the fund and the reason for the attempt to smuggle it into the country,’’ the chairman said.
“In the course of investigation, one of the directors at the Ministry of Health confirmed that he served the former commissioner with the money sourced from the consultant to the students’ scholarship scheme,” Rimingado added.

He said the consultant collected 1.5 million dollars from the Kano Government for the scholarship scheme, but how the fund was disbursed remained suspicious.

BusinessDollar Drops Below N400/$ For First Time In Seven Months by information1(op): 9:30am On Mar 23, 2017
For the very first time in seven months, the dollar fell below the N400 barrier, when the greenback traded at N399 to the dollar in Lagos and exchanged at N395 in Abuja, lower than N410 at which it traded on Tuesday.

With the gains made by the local currency in the last five weeks, the naira inched closer to one of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) key foreign exchange policy objectives of an exchange rate convergence.

According to ThisDay, the last time the naira traded at between N395 and N400 to the dollar on the parallel market was in August 2016.

The significant gains made by the naira on the parallel market, according to market analysts, was a reflection of the improved confidence in the FX market, following the sustained dollar interventions by the CBN since last month.
One analyst also attributed the gains made by naira to the Bureau de Change (BDC) operators that are awash with dollars and with little or no customers to patronise them.

He said several retail customers who used to resort to the BDCs (which realistically fund the parallel market) to fund invisible transactions now get to buy dollars at a lower rate from the banks.

“The BDCs are awash with cash. Remember that the central bank sold about $200,000 to each BDC at some point and they had also bought dollars at high rates which they hoarded, thinking that the naira would remain in a free fall.
“But with the CBN’s intervention, they are stuck with loads of dollars and little or no customers, so they have stopped buying dollars and are looking for avenues to offload what they bought at ridiculously high rates.
