NICE INFORMATION UP THERE.. |
Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation exposed on Monday that the Federal Government has launched its counterpart fund for the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan mordernisation railway project. Based on him, N72bn was released. Amaechi, said the fund was released fully to make sure that there is no delay in the project implementation. He stated, “The construction of Lagos-Ibadan Railway, the Minister of Finance has been kind enough to release the counterpart funding in full. I think in the history of Nigeria this is first time that we are releasing counterpart funds in full so that there will be no delay since the Chinese loan appears to have been approved. The only thing we need to do, I thank God there is somebody from the National Assembly, is to plead with the National Assembly that the funds has been approved, then the National Assembly should please approve the $30bn loan. If you don’t encourage the National Assembly to make that approval, then, the economy won’t be making the kind of progress we want the economy to make. So, for me here, I will enjoin to persuade the National Assembly to kindly make that approval because they are tied to projects.” http://talkgeria.com/topic/fg-releases-n72bn-for-lagos-ibadan-rail-line/ |

President Muhammadu Buhari, has announced that corruption is the “very worst”, of all the major issues confronting Nigeria, including the Boko Haram insurgency. Buhari, who made this at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja, on Thursday, while receiving recipients of the 2016 Nigerian National Order of Merit, NNOM, outlined poor economy, insecurity, and corruption, as the main problems facing the nation. The recipients, Professors Omowunmi Sadik (Sciences), and Tanure Ojaide (Humanities), had their investiture on December 1, 2016. He said: “Nobody disputed the fact that they were the major problems of Nigeria, and we campaigned on those three planks. As a government, we believe you cannot administer a country you have not secured, so we focused on security. “The economy is also down, therefore, we are not sparing any effort to revive and diversify it, so that our people, particularly the youths, can get jobs. The third problem, and the worst of them all, is corruption.” Buhari also, stated that Nigeria was in a terrible shape, when he took over in 2015, “with oil prices falling to as low as $37 per barrel, from peak periods of over $100 in previous years. “There was no money in the treasury. We were producing less than one million barrels of oil per day, from the 2.2 million barrels we used to do. The country was in a terrible shape, but luckily, the people understand, and are co-operating with us.” Buhari speaks further, commended the award winners, enumerating their efforts to the academia and national development as, “quite fundamental”. In their separate remarks, the award recipients, lauded the present anti-corruption war of President Buhari’s administration. Canvassing more financing for research, they thanked the Federal Government for the National Order of Merit, saying: “nothing can be compared to being honoured by your own country.” The Chairman of the Nigerian National Merit Award, Professor Moses Essien Etim, stated 73 awards were being given out since 1979, when the desire to identify and reward creative excellence among Nigerians, was instituted into the NNOM. http://talkgeria.com/topic/why-i-am-more-comfortable-with-boko-haram-than-corruption-buhari-shocks-nigerians/ |

It was in fact a hell of complexity on Tuesday night, as Niger Delta militants blew up a crude oil trunk-line in Ughelli, Delta State, just 24 hours after Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, directed a Federal Government delegation to visit the area. The assault, which happened behind the SETRACO construction yard, along the East/West Express Road, in Ughelli, in Ughelli North Local Government, was considered to be associated with the alleged ill-treatment and negligence for some monarchs in the State, during the Federal Government delegation’s trip. Remember, that Osinbajo, accompanied by the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu; along with the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Gen. Paul Boroh; had on Monday visited the Traditional Ruler of Gbaramatu Kingdom, the Olu of Warri, and a cross-section of Traditional Rulers, drawn from Urhobo, Isoko, and Ndokwa ethnic nationalities at the PTI Conference Centre. Even though, security sources in the State confirmed the attack under the condition of anonymity, none of them could confirm the true cause of the incident. They however, stressed that they were mobilising in collaboration with the Delta State Fire Service in the area to put out the inferno. Elsewhere, another military source disregarded the claim that militants were responsible for the attack, noting that indiscriminate bush burning was responsible for the inferno. A brand new political party, recognized as the Alliance for Feminine Agenda, AFA, has sprung up, with past First Ladies, ex-female Ministers, and ex-Governors, queuing behind it. The new political association, said it will approach the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, within the next 7 days for registration. The new political party is coming at a time, when the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, had threatened to leave her husband, if he ultimately chooses to contest in 2019, for the Presidential seat. Present at the inaugural conference organised in Abuja, on Sunday evening, were: ex- Spokesman to President Muhammadu Buhari in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Chief Denis Aghauya, a Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Jabi, Hajia Halima Turaki, Florence Wogu, Gladys Abubakar, Hajia Binta Umar, Hajia Gambo Abubakar, Hajia Jumai Lawal Yusuf, Princes Thomas. The members of the new party, said that they have reached out to notable Nigerians, like ex- First Lady, Patience Jonathan, ex- Minister of Finance, Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Petroleum Alison-Madueke, and many other women, to enroll in the feminine party. While speaking, Aghauya, who presided over the meeting, said the focus will be to mobilise energies in women, and youths in the country. “It is an ideology driven by women in alliance with the men and youths, to ensure justice, equity, and unity, for the purpose of achieving a new dawn in the polity, so that we can achieve an ideal society, different from what we have witnessed since the independence of Nigeria.” Also speaking, another noticeable member, Wogu, showed when the party comes on board, it will undertake the concept of a part-time Legislature, adding that: “It is part of our plans to have all the Lawmakers having offices at their various constituencies, and only have to come to Abuja, whenever the need arises for meetings. “Women should not be relegated to the background. We don’t believe in affirmative action. Both men and women should be equal,” she stated. They have however, establish 4 sub-Committees which includes: Manifesto Committee, Contact and Mobilisation, Finance and Constitution Committee, to make its activities go properly. http://talkgeria.com/topic/aisha-to-dump-buhari-as-patience-jonathan-okonjo-iweala-diezani-launch-new-political-party-for-2019/

THE Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, NUPENG, Wednesday declared the suspension of the three day warning strike. This is as the Federal Government has directed oil companies operating in the country to obey every agreement entered into with workers and also pay all the entitlement of workers that were laid off. Both the Federal Government represented by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige and the leaderships of NUPENG and PENGASSAN said there was a peaceful resolution of various contentious issues ranging from indiscriminate declaration of redundancy and sack of workers by some oil companies without due consultation with the leadership of the Union. Speaking after the meeting, Senator Ngige directed some of the representatives of oil companies who left the meeting after resolution of their issues to comply, with every agreement while those that failed to attend the meeting were given up to July to meet with the minister and relevant stakeholders... https://informationengine./2017/01/11/nupeng-suspends-strike/ |
