With a number of actors having passed away in such of a shirt time, with Moji Olaiya, being the newest, Muyiwa Ademola, in a fresh chat with Punchng, exposed the leading reason for death among actors.. . According to him,“A very big problem we have in our industry is that we work round the clock, we spend nights at movie locations but we don’t go for medical check-up. . I have a doctor and I go for medical check-up every three weeks. I know when to take some days off work. For instance, if I work for about two weeks, I take a few days off to relax. I would just eat and rest. . I also make sure I go on vacations and all I do in those times is just to eat and sleep. Most of the deaths in the movie industry are a result of accumulated stress without paying attention to one’s health.” https://informationengine./2017/06/10/actor-muyiwa-ademola-reveals-the-main-cause-of-death-amongst-nigerian-actors/

The National Association of Brothel Owners, Imo State chapter, has raised a task force to quit non-registered members from working in the state. The owners of brothels under the aegis of National Association of Brothel Owners, Imo State chapter, has raised a task force to stop non-registered members from operating. Based on NABO, it had perfected plans to sanitise prostitution, which it said was the oldest profession known to the human race. While speaking with a Punch’s correspondent, the state NABO Chairman, Dr. Stanley Nwachukwu, claimed that members who associated with child trafficking in the brothels would be reported to the police. He added that the task force would fish out brothels where hard drugs were being sold. “I will ensure that adequate fines are paid by such brothel owners, whose inmates engage in fisticuffs. I urge every brothel owner to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations guiding against coming into brothels with arms and ammunition,” he added. The chairman, however, stated that the association had aided in curbing cases of rape and s*xual abuse among children, which he said would have been more rampant without the operation of brothels in the state. “R*pe would have been happening even in churches if brothels were not in existence in the state. There are men whose libido compels them to have s*xual intercourse regularly to the point that they cannot pass a night without sleeping with a woman,” Nwachukwu stated. https://informationengine./2017/06/08/association-of-brothel-owners-raises-task-force-see-their-new-plans-on-prostitutes/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
Over 40 migrants from Nigeria and Ghana have passed away in the Sahara Desert after their vehicle broke down in arid northern Niger. The Red Cross said the migrants, most of whom have not been identified, died this week. According to Reuters, six survivors walked to a remote village where they said that 44 people, mostly from Ghana and Nigeria and including three babies and two other children, died of thirst, said Lawal Taher, the department head for the Red Cross in the Bilma region. Taher said a search for the bodies was underway. The number of migrants who cross the Sahara has increased in recent years as impoverished West Africans risk their lives to try to reach Europe. In one of the most perilous parts of the journey, thousands of migrants each week are crammed into pickup trucks for the days-long ride from Niger into Libya, often with only enough room for a few litres of water. Authorities and aid organisations are able to keep track of the thousands of migrant deaths in the Mediterranean Sea between Africa and Europe, but is it almost impossible to know how many have died in the vast and unpoliced Sahara. Last year, a report by 4mi, an affiliate of the Danish Refugee Council, reported that it is likely that more migrants die in the desert than at sea, according to testimony from migrants. https://informationengine./2017/06/02/44-nigerian-ghanaian-migrants-die-in-sahara-desert/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have pitted the group’s leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, against the South East Peoples Assembly (SEPA). For organising a sit-at -home after he obtained a court bail, SEPA has asked the Federal High Court, Abuja, to revoke the bail granted Kanu, a pro-secession leader. IPOB in collaboration with other groups, on Tuesday organised a successful sit-at-home in South East, an action SEPA regards as a breach of the bail conditions granted Kanu.Kanu, leader of IPOB, has been facing trial for treason and terrorism, being a major sponsor for the secession of South East from Nigeria on the platform of IPOB. He was arrested on October 15, 2015 in Lagos and eventually granted bail in May this year with some conditions. The Federal High Court, Abuja, admitted him to bail on health grounds. Justice Binta Nyako said that she was convinced that Kanu was ill and needed more medical attention than the Nigerian Prisons was giving him. She, however, ordered that while on bail, Kanu must not hold any rallies, grant any interviews or be in a crowd of more than 10 people. Nyako gave other bail conditions to include three sureties in the sum of N100 million each. The judge further ordered that Kanu must deposit both his Nigerian and British passports with the court and that a report on the progress of his health must be made available to her on a monthly basis. She adjourned the matter till July 11 and 12, for definite commencement of trial. However, SEPA has accused Kanu of infringing on the bail conditions. In a letter to the Chief Judge of the High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, the President of SEPA, Prince Chukwuemeka Okoriein, as the court, as a matter of urgency, to revoke Kanu’s bail. He said that Kanu has continued to conduct himself in a manner that was totally at variance with terms and conditions of his bail. He listed the infractions to include holding rallies, grant of interviews or be in a crowd of more than 10 people. “Obviously, the recklessness with which he made media statements and even organised the ‘Sit at Home and Stay Indoor’ protest to mark the so called BIAFRA HEROS DAY on Tuesday, 30th May, 2017 is a threat to the unity, security and peace of Nigeria as a sovereign nation. “We have no iota of doubt that he is trying to push our dear country Nigeria into an unnecessary precarious situation for his personal agenda and those of his paymasters. “Sir, our decision to write this demand letter to your good office at this time is to forestall another civil unrest in Nigeria, particularly around the Igbo speaking region. “As you well know, the struggle by Kanu to be relevant under the guise of actualisation of Biafra does not enjoy the support of right thinking Igbo people both at home and in diaspora. “That he suddenly addresses himself as the Supreme Leader of Biafra points to how arrogant and disrespectful he is to legitimately constituted authority in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “The pertinent question on our minds as stakeholders is: Has Kanu been consistent in providing the court with reports on the progress of his health and treatment on a monthly basis since he was granted bail? “We fear that if Kanu is not tamed by Your Lordship as a matter of urgency, the IPOB may create a situation where it becomes difficult if not impossible for genuine development to take place in the South East under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.” “History has taught us that the Civil War of 1967-1970 started gradually and later turned out to be something that caused our people unimaginable losses. “We cannot afford to fold our arms this time and allow a stooge imported from the United Kingdom by stark enemies of Nigeria to maintain a state of belligerence against the nation and keep the name of Igbo people in the news for the wrong reasons.” https://informationengine./2017/06/01/biafra-nnamdi-kanu-in-trouble/ |
A woman kept her dead mother hidden in a freezer for ten years so she could continue to claim an old age pension equivalent to £1700-a-month, prosecutors revealed today. The 90-year-old’ corpse was found after detectives started investigating the alleged social security fraudster, who is 55 and cannot be named for legal reasons. She was living in a detached house in the picturesque village of Horsarrieu, close to Pau, in South West France, with her mother’s remains at the end of the garden. ‘They were hidden in a freezer, and there had been no report of the mother’s death,’ said a prosecuting source in nearby Mont-de-Marsan, capital of the Landes department. ,’ the source added. The suspect was first interviewed by gendarmes on Tuesday, and claimed that her mother had died seven years ago. Investigators noticed, however, that there had been no medical fees claimed by the mother since 2007, suggesting that the time of death was more likely to be a decade ago. The Mirror reports that all the mother’s benefits arrangements, including drawing an old age pension, continued as normal throughout that time. At the time of death, the pair were living some 200 miles away, close to Toulouse, which means that the woman would have transported the corpse in secret when they moved to Horsarrieu in July 2016. Police have evidence that the suspect had put her own picture on her mother’s driving licence – an offence that led to a search of the property. The corpse was found wrapped in a tarpaulin, with old clothes used to hide it. An autopsy was due to be held on Wednesday to try to establish whether the mother had died of natural causes, or whether foul play was involved. https://informationengine./2017/06/01/woman-hides-dead-mother-in-freezer-to-collect-her-10-years-pension/ |
There was violence in Ikun Ekiti, in the Moba Local Government Area, on Tuesday as masqueraders attacked Muslims in the Central Mosque for allegedly disturbing the Egungun festival. The incident took place at sunset around 7pm when the Muslims had gathered in the mosque to observe the Maghrib prayer after breaking their fast. It was learnt that the masqueraders were irked that the Muslims called for prayers when they were still celebrating Egungun (masquerader) festival. The masquearders reportedly attacked the worshippers and inflicted injuries on many of them. About five of the worshippers were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury. The hoodlums were said to have vandalised the two cars parked at the entrance of the mosque. The Acting Imam of the mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Rasak Abubakar-Bello, was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where he received stitches on his head. Speaking from his hospital bed , Bello said the Muslims were held hostage in the mosque for four hours by the masqueraders. “There was no way we could escape because they were waiting for us outside after initially attacking us inside the mosque. When we succeeded in locking ourselves inside the mosque, they started throwing stones at us,” he said. Bello accused the Divisional Police Office in the area of snubbing the distress calls made to him by the Muslim community as he refused to send his men there. The Muslim community accused the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Olatunde Olusola, of supervising the attack. We have examined the governor on his promises and works, and we have scored him below average”. “We want the governor to tell Oyo State citizens how much he has received as allocation and what project he did with it. We challenge him to come and give an account of his stewardship in the last two years of his reelection as the executive governor of the state, Mr Olaitan Oladuni, state secretary added. The Public Relations Officer of the association, Mr Tolulope Adedoyin further accused Senator Abiola Ajimobi led government by saying, “The governor has been lavishing public funds on unnecessary projects, throwing indiscriminate millions on personal projects with state funds and watching education decaying. There is anger at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Lagos State, after the Presiding Chaplain, Venerable Femi Taiwo, was sacked by the Governing Council allegedly on the order of the state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. PUNCH Metro gathered that Taiwo got the sack on Monday, May 15, without any query or official reason stated in the sack letter. He was said to have been ordered out of his official quarters where he lived with his wife and two children within 24 hours of receiving the letter.Despite pleadings from church leaders and other reputable elders in the church, the government was said to have insisted that the cleric must leave the church. Some church members reportedly contributed money to buy gas cooker, and other household items for the family as they vacated the vicarage. Investigations showed that Taiwo had angered the Governor’s wife, Bolanle Ambode, who had visited the chapel on Sunday, May 14, when the church held an anointing service. The church is under the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, while the Office of the Lagos State First Lady supervises church. Church members were said to have filed out to receive anointing oil during the May 14 service without any preference given to Bolanle, who waited endlessly with her entourage. She was said to have later moved to be anointed and moments later, stormed out of the church, as some of the women leaders ran after her. Bolanle, who was reported to be visibly angry, allegedly shunned entreaties from the women, which included the wife of the presiding chaplain. The cleric got the sack the following day. The directive was issued in a letter dated, May 15, 2017, and signed by the Chairman, Governing Council of CCTL, Mr. Olugbenga Solomon. The letter also ordered the Assistant Chaplain, Very Rev. Ayo Oyadotun, to take over with immediate effect. A church member, who witnessed the drama and begged not to be identified, said , “The church had declared seven-day fasting after we lost two prominent members. “The Sunday service, which was declared as anointing service, was supposed to end the fasting. “The First Lady, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, was present with her entourage. She comes to the church once in a while. “When it was time to be anointed, the cleric asked people to come forward, adding that it was optional. Three people stood at the stage to anoint people. They included the chaplain, the presiding chaplain and one other person. “People started stepping out one after another. The governor’s wife, after some time, also stepped out and was anointed.” The source said within a few minutes of taking the oil, Bolanle, who felt disrespected, stepped out with her entourage. Another member of the church said, “As she stepped out, it was obvious that she was angry. “The president of the women’s fellowship and the pastor’s wife ran after her. She shunned them, entered her car and zoomed off. “When we came to the church on Tuesday, we heard that Venerable Taiwo had been sacked. We were told that he was sacked because the the governor’s wife didn’t get the anointing oil first and she felt disrespected. “The man that signed the letter is also a civil servant,” the source said. The governing council is said to be made up of members of the church and some appointees of the government. PUNCH Metro learnt that Taiwo still had two years to spend as the presiding chaplain when he was fired. The source said some church members quickly bought household items for his family as they vacated the church premises on Thursday. He said, “The children went to school on Thursday without knowing that they would not be staying in the vicarage that evening. Church members bought bed and other household items for them because they did not have their own property. “The members said their pastor did not offend them, and protested the sacking. The governing council members, however, said they should forget it because whatever came from Alausa was final. Most of the church members are civil servants who can’t talk too much.” Our correspondent reached out to leaders of the church, including Oyadotun, who refused to comment. However, one of those that confirmed the incident, begged not to be named. He said the reason Taiwo got the sack was not stated in the letter, adding that the action was not unconnected from the visit of the wife of the governor. He said, “Let me be straight with you, in the letter there was no reason for the sack. Whatever you are hearing are what members of the church believed could have happened. And there was indeed a protest by the church and the governing council assuaged them on the sacking. “There was nothing official in that sacking. No investigation, no query, nothing. We had an anointing service on that Sunday. The following day, the venerable was served the sack letter.” When PUNCH Metro reached out to Taiwo, he said he did not want to comment. He said, “If you have any enquiry, direct it to the church. But one thing I can say is that I have tried as a pastor to live above board. It will not be right engaging the church or the government on the pages of a newspaper.” The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, said, “The former chaplain had been queried a number of times in the past for conducts unbecoming of his office. The culmination of various indiscretions led to the Governing Council of the church issuing yet another query that led to his being relieved of his post. “This has got nothing to do with the First Lady. The Chaplain is looking for an excuse to cover his insouciance. It’s nothing but cheap blackmail.” https://informationengine./2017/05/26/gov-ambode-sacks-chaplain-for-allegedly-keeping-his-wife-waiting-in-line-during-anointing-service/

The life of a 25-year-old corps member, Charity Thilza, was brought to an sudden end 3 days to the completion of her National Youth Service Corps programme in Abuja. The Borno State indigene was killed by some robbers along Wuse 2 Road while she was coming back returning from a nightclub in Carribean, Wuse 2, around 3am on Monday. The ‘passing-out parade,’ which marked the completion of her one-year programme, would certainly hold on Thursday (today). She studied Linguistics and English at the University of Maiduguri.PUNCH Metro learnt that Thilza and four friends, identified simply as Lola, Bisi, Pooja (an Indian) and a man had attended a show at the club, where a hip hop artiste, Chibuzor Azubuike, generally called Phyno, performed on Sunday. They were said to be returning home from the party in a car the following day when the robbers gave them a chase. The assailants reportedly shot at the car repeatedly and some of the bullets pierced through the windscreen and hit Thilza, who was sitting at the back. One of the friends, Lola, was said to have also sustained gunshot injuries. It was learnt that the robbers retreated when they noticed that the driver of the car was heading towards a police station. Thilza’s close friend, Thlama Bukar, said she was rushed to a hospital, but was rejected. She said she died on the way to another hospital that she was referred to. Bukar, who spoke with PUNCH Metro on the telephone, said she was together with Thilza until Friday, when she (Bukar) returned to Maiduguri, Borno State, where she lives. She said, “Phyno performed at the Carribean (the club) on Sunday. They were coming back home around 3am on Monday when they noticed that a car was trailing them. They took a detour, but the car continued following them. The driver of their car started speeding and the robbers opened fire on the car. Unfortunately, some of the bullets hit Thilza from the back of the car. Five persons went for the party. One of them is a man, but I don’t know his name. I learnt Lola was also hit by the bullets and has been admitted to a hospital. The incident was reported to the police. “Thilza lived in Zone 6, Wuse 2, and served at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja. She clocked 25 years in January. Her corpse will be brought to Maiduguri on Thursday (today). Her father is late. Presently, her mother is not talking; she is very distraught. She was the first child of the family. She has four young siblings.” Bukar said Thilza had planned to join the NSCDC after the service, adding that her death was a big loss to the family. She said, “She was a kind and simple person. I left her and other friends in Abuja on Friday. They accompanied me to the airport when I was returning to Maiduguri. She told me she wanted to join the NSCDC.” The spokesperson for the NYSC, Federal Capital Territory, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, said the corps was making efforts to ensure the release of the corpse for burial. She said, “The victim was our member with code number, FCT/15a/5295. She was supposed to pass out on Thursday (today). We learnt she and her friends went clubbing. “When they were coming back around 3am in a flashy car, armed robbers trailed them. When they could not get them, they shot at the car and the bullets hit her. “They tried rushing her to the National Hospital, Abuja, but she died on the way. The family members are in Abuja with the NYSC coordinator. The corpse is with the police. A pastor with a white garment church has just been arrested by the Special Fraud Unit, Milverton, Ikoyi, Lagos, for collecting N70 million to treat a businesswoman of fibroid. The arrest of the suspect, identified simply as Femi, followed a complaint lodged at the Unit by the victim’s husband, over allegation that the former intended to eliminate him and take over his property. The businesswoman, as gathered, had been suffering from the ailment which defied medical treatment for 14 years, until she was introduced to Pastor Femi, who promised to cure her. Explaining the circumstances that led to his arrest, Commissioner of Police in-charge of SFU, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, said: “A notable Nigerian, who was living in peace with his family before the prophet came into their lives, had reported a case of swindling of his wife, consequent upon which we began investigation. “Facts of the matter is that wife of the prominent Nigerian was having medical challenges as she was suffering from fibroid. The woman met a female trader, who introduced her to Prophet Femi of a Celestial Church in Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos. “The prophet assured her that he would be able to handle the situation.” Lamorde, who was represented by SP Ngozi Braide, said: “They charged the woman N98,000 fee, which she paid and Prophet Femi gave her some herbs, which stopped the bleeding for a while.”. He continued: “When the bleeding started again in 2014, she went back to the prophet, who brought in a new twist to the matter. “He hypnotised the woman and convinced her that her husband was responsible for her problems. Prophet Femi went further to convince the woman that her husband was also after her children’s lives, accusing him of being a cultist. “He went further to tell her that the bleeding was the source of her husband’s money. That the more it flowed the richer the man would get. “The woman was asked to bring money for sacrifices and rituals, which she paid into the prophet’s account. She also built a five bedroom duplex at Ojokoro area of Lagos and another in Ado-Ekiti for the prophet, upon his request. “The prophet also warned the woman to stop sleeping with her husband and instructed her and her children to bring 70 percent of the money her husband gave to them monthly to him. “For three years the prophet would come and sleep in the man’s house, without his knowledge. There was a time he allegedly gave the woman’s only son a concoction to drink and he started behaving like a mad person. “He took him (son) to Ekiti, gave him something to drink and he became normal again.” The bubble burst after one of the victim’s children, who came visiting from London, reportedly paid in N20 million into the prophet’s account. She was said to have suspected that all was not well, following which she reported the matter to her father, who confronted his wife. Sensing danger, the suspect was said to have fled to Ekiti, from where he was arrested. . Displaying the monetary transactions between the woman and the prophet, Braide said: “After his arrest, we discovered that one of his accounts read over N70 million, which was paid in by the victim. “We learned that the prophet has two other accounts. Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect had collected a chieftaincy title in Ekiti with the money. “Also recovered were a Toyota Highlander 2014 Model and a Lexus GX 470 2014 model, which were bought for him by his victim. The suspect did not deny all the allegations against him. “He proudly told us that he is a prophet and a native doctor. He told us that he helped the woman and uses brain to collect money from her, since the family is wealthy. “We have decided to bring this to the public domain to warn people about fraudsters, who hide under churches as prophets or pastors. We have saved this man (husband of victim) from death as that would have been the next plan.” https://informationengine./2017/05/02/photos-prophet-arrested-for-taking-n70m-3-housescars-to-cure-womans-fibroids/

Ahead of the fulfillment of the promise to open the budget of the National Assembly to the Nigerian public, (#Opennass), the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has vowed to resign, if the 2017 budget that would be sent to President Muhammadu Buhari, did not contain the details of the line by line disclosure of the budget of the National Assembly. Saraki said this through his Special Assistant on Social Media, Bamikole Omisore, in an exclusive message sent to Post-Nigeria, on Friday night. If you remeber, that the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, had on Thursday, said the National Assembly would ensure that the 2017 budget is laid before Buhari for his assent, hopefully by next week. “ The line by line of the National Assembly Budget, a key part of the #Opennass, is a done deal. Will be laid with 2017 budget, ” Saraki tweeted. In a swift reply, Aye Dee, a vibrant Social Media Commentator, via his twitter handle said: “When shall we get a #PromiseKept hashtag for your personal promise to make the NASS budget open?” Reacting, Omisore speaking on behalf of his boss, Saraki, insisted that the 2017 budget that is yet to be submitted to the President for his assent, will be laid side by side with the details of the National Assembly budget, or he will resign. “You should. If the 2017 National budget is passed, and you don’t have line by line budget of the National Assembly, I will resign, #Opennass”, he tweeted. Saraki came into office in June 2015, promising accountability and transparency; promising to open the budget of the National Assembly to the public. With N23.347 billion in 2003, the National Assembly’s budget now stands at about N115 billion, representing over 492 percent rise in 13 years. Until 2016, the budget had often gone as high as N150 billion. In 2010, when the budget hit a shocking record sum of N154.2 billion, David Mark, Saraki’s predecessor, decided to block Nigerians from knowing details of how the National Assembly’s jumbo allocations were spent, especially how much members earned in allowances, thus, wrapping up the Federal Legislators’ finances in utmost secrecy. Saraki clinched the Senate leadership position in June 2015, months after Buhari was inaugurated as Nigeria’s President. https://informationengine./2017/04/29/saraki-threatens-to-resign-as-senate-president-next-week/
