People from Pakistan are still considered Asian as well. Just because they don't have chinky eyes like people of other Asian nations doesn't mean their not Asian. Majority of Asians aren't "mixed breed" though [not that I'm saying that you said most are]. Seeing a lot of them doesn't necessarily mean majority are.

Ewww, gross. The whale died there, its not like they killed the whale and decided to eat it. What are they vultures?!?! Why would you eat a something that you just found dead on the ground. I'm pretty sure if they saw a dead goat of chicken on the side of the road they wouldn't eat it so why would anyone wanna eat something that just died. I'm pretty sure they don't even know what caused that animals death. The pictures don't even gross me out, its the fact that their eating a dead animal they just found that's what grosses me out.

@OP: Influencing or corrupting, take your pic? undecided

Seun:
If they are so influential, how come we've not heard of them before?
How come they are all in the entertainment business?  No engineers?
I was wondering the same thing as well. There are some many Nigerians who are making positive changes within the Nigerian community yet these "influential Nigerians" are only people who seem to part of the entertainment industry which a lot of young Nigerians are so desperate to emulate. Give me a break!!! Gone are the days when you'd see a young person wanting to aspire to be something other than a rapper, singer, or actor/actress.

@Bbk/Baby
You need to get a life and busy yourself with sth useful. First and foremost, you are not a Nigerian, that your mum got married to a Yoruba Nigerian does not make you a yoruba nor a Nigerian. I see how angry and edgy you get when some Africans or Nigerians make reference to African Americans as bunch of dumb gang members that cover their inadequacies by using the whiteman as an excuse, yet you are usually the first to come up with derogatory statements and comments against the Igbos as if it makes you a Yoruba. You had better be careful the way you indulge in all this hateful bigotry, it has turned you into a hateful person without you even realizing it. The irony of it all is that whatever you know about Nigeria, is just what your Nigerian step Father( who may or may be prejudiced as he is human afterall) has told you about Nigeria and the snippets you got from Wiki and googled up pages, yet you argue with utter disrespect with ppl who have not in any way make derogatory statement to AA and are real Nigerians, born and raised in Nigeria and have real life and practical experience in what they talk or argue about unlike you that is reading a greatly flawed script. Nairaland is not Nigerialand, this is cyberspace anyone can spew hateful comments and claims to be anybody, it does not make it reflective of the views of the Nigerian populace at large. One thing you fail to realize is that in a room of you an igbo and a yoruba person, you will be the strange one in the mix, whether you are known to ve supported Awo's cause on NL or further denigrate Zik's name to show support to the Yorubas, it wont mean a thing when push comes to shove. I just hope that one day the wrong impression that you have got from here will not push you to commit a crime of hate against a Nigerian because obviously you are taking your tribalism game a little too seriously.
Well said. You've made a lot of interesting points. Ya know, I wish bk.babe97y wasn't in denial of his tribalist way of thinking. Sometime I feel like taking him to cultural rehab so he'd stop it.

[quote author=Ileke-IdI link=topic=548839.msg7117131#msg7117131 date=1289413389]We've heard that Yoruba men are ugly, Yoruba men practice polygamy, Yoruba men wear this and that. . . . this mostly said by men of other tribes in Nigeria.

But why is it that Yoruba men can get any woman they want? Why are they loved by women every tribe?

This thread is not a bragging right, but some people need to think about this and why Yoruba men are taking their women. Instead of piling dirt of insults on Yoruba men, why not emulate them?

Increase rate of marriages between Yoruba men/Igbo, Yoruba/edo, Yoruba/non-nigerian women etc. Is it because they have the "swagga" or because other women loff our culture?

Is it because they're the most endowed? ==> https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-227982.0.html

Is it because they're "promiscuous"? ===> https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-230292.0.html

@Inked_Nerd that sounds very cool, is it better than SHEA BUTTER. Your a mine of information. cool cool cool

@SA Goddess wink you said you blow dry, does it last longer than using the electric comb?
Hmmm, well shea butter is primarily for moisturizing. . . Hmmm, do you use shea butter to wash your hair? The Chandrika soap can be used on hair [I think]. If you really wanna try some ayurvedic soap for hair then you might wanna consider Shikakai shampoo soap. I think you might like that. It lathers very well, strengthens hair, and promoted hair growth. You can find these products at your local Indian beauty supply store. I'll try to make a stop off in one of the Indian stores in Manhattan so I can stock up on some that way I won't have to go back there unless I really need something. Doing the BC the second time around made me realize that I really don't need a lot of things to care and style my hair. Next week, I'll be making some flax seed hair gel. I've already got the seeds and other ingredients so all I need to do is buy some more essential oils and then I'm good to go. I recently found out about a supposed "natural"/ "organic" hair gel that has some nice ingredients in it. Normally, I'm not a product junkie but I'm willing to give this one a try. Its called African Formula Super Grow Hair Gel. The name alone kinda sounds kinda dodgy. Anyway, I'll give it a go and see how it goes.

ROSSIKE:
Can folks desist from using the word ''tribe'' to describe Nigerian Ethnic Groups please?

Some of those Ethnic Groups have populations of up to 40 million, more than 3 or 4 countries put together.

So it's highly inappropriate to refer to them as ''tribes''.

You do realise the days of colonialists, who introduced such perjorative terms to demean our great and illustrious people, are over?
Hmmm, interesting info.
FoodRe: Do You Eat Three Times Daily (breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)? by InkedNerd(f): 4:40am On Nov 12, 2010
Personally, I don't really feel that its necessary to eat breakfast in the morning. I went a whole semester without eating breakfast and I was fine throughout the day[I usually at lunch though]. Normally, what I did [before the semester when I stopped eating breakfast] was load up on breakfast. The following semester which was the one when I stopped eating breakfast, I had no problem adjusting to the change in how I ate. The reason I stopped eating breakfast was because I had a tight morning schedule so at the most, if I was lucky I'd have a cup of tea and run out the house.

Amerian Men vs Nigerian Men

Nigerian men: Are sexist. Has strict ideals about the role of a woman vs role of a man
American men: not sexist at all. Wants a woman to do all he can do and MORE!
Ummm, how did you come to this conclusion? There are MANY sexist men in the the US. Just because Nigerian men are more forthcoming about their sexist beliefs doesn't mean that American men aren't sexist. You don't have to announce your sexist beliefs to be a sexist person.

Yeah, she DJays as well but lately she's been making a name for herself with her sense of fashion and occasional modeling gigs. I usually find a lot of helpful info on the sites posted. lol, ya ever realize that Black men have hair issues as well? I have a Ghanaian friend who wants to grow locs and every time I see him, I always run my hands through his hair. He hasn't loc'ed them and isn't quite sure when he'll loc it but there's just something about seeing and feeling his hair in its natural state that makes me wanna touch his hair. lol, he never seems to touch my hair though since a lot of Black men think that women don't to have their hair touched [even though a lot don't actually like it]. I have another friend who had waist length curly locs and my hands are always in his hair when I see him. We could just be watching tv and I'll randomly start touching his hair. Hehehe, its nice having mutual understanding with natural haired men.
