Omenani:Yes, I know. Unfortunately, they never taught us that in school. A lot of the information that I learned about slavery wasn't even from school. Personally, I felt that the teachers that I had did a very poor job at teaching students about slavery. I always went out on my own to seek information about slavery and trafficking of people. I was very drawn to slavery in the Caribbean and the Latin Americas. In fact there was a documentary I came across about 3 years ago about black Mexican currently living in Mexico. I think there's a exhibit as well. If I can remember the name of the documentary I'll post it here. |
klas:Ok, so if that is the case then I suppose the police officers are in breach of this law? |
kabukabu50:Yupp, 50 years = EPIC FAIL!!! safariman:If only it were that simple. They would never pass such a law because people are too busy enjoying their gravy train bribes. |
Honduran?! LMFAO!!! Except he's black Honduran I got no words for u. . . Oh, no, I actually do got something for u: TRY MEXICAN WHILE U AT IT!!! ROFLMAO!!! Wuteva! Why u here trying to sound smart when we could be evaluating your ability to be "extra smart" behind closed doors?
lol, he's biracial--half black half "Latino/Hispanic". And what is wrong with being a black Honduran? Ok, so on top of the fact that you're a tribalist and a womanizer, you also dislike black Central Americans huh? You and I will never be behind closed doors. Smh, you cease to amaze me. The more you talk, the more I wanna stay away from you. |
tensor777:How is it obvious? Are you forgetting that law differ from country to country? If he didn't know, then he didn't know. |

logica:lol, I'll tell you what his "awful crime" was--It was not being a sheep and falling in line like everyone else. I'm pretty sure there were other people there who were either video taping it or taking pictures. Don't be surprised if other pictures surface later on. |
Are you a freelance photographer? |
ohaechesi:Irresponsible? Yeah right. Now suppose this was a photo of the officers accepting money? Honestly, the reason why a lot of horrid crimes exist in Nigeria is because no one speaks out. People tend to be blasé and then the behavior of staying silent becomes normalized. |
Oh wow, if that really is ishit4body in the pic then she has a nice bod. Keep up the good work girl. @topic: I see nothing wrong with what the dude did. I take pics of the idiotic police officers here in New York. I once caught some police officers slamming a high school student to the ground the arrest her. I made sure I took pics right in front of them. I wish I could say I was in shock but I really wasn't. It was three huge officers tackling a kid. The kid was barely 5'2" . |
udezue:My dear, are you just finding out that they're morons? |
Nice photos in the blog. A lot of the shots in NY are places that I hang out. |
Idk if this counts but I love garri |
Ok, madlady and SA Goddess, I started the natural thread. It's called "The Natural Mixtress--Natural Remedies And Solutions". |
Hello ladies and gentlemen. This thread is totally open to everyone who is interested in caring for their bodies using more natural or holistic methods. Everyone is welcomed to add recipes and alternative methods for various beauty issues from skincare to hair. Everyone is also welcomed to give reviews on natural products and homemade products. I'll go first. Over the weekend, I washed my hair which I recently cut. I now have short natural hair. The product I used to wash my hair was black soap. I rarely condition my hair so I go straight to moisturizing. Here's what I do. When I step into the shower, I saturate my hair with water for at least 5-10 minutes. Waiting those 5-10 minutes, allows the water to loosen up the dirt or build up that may be on the scalp. After the 5-10 minutes has passed, I take my "natural shampoo" e.g. black soap, castile soap, mud based cleansers, etc. and apply it to my hair. After my hair is fully cleansed, I apply castor oil in my hair while its still wet so it absorbs very well. I will admit, the castor oil had a not so pleasant scent so I add a little lemon oil to dull the scent of the castor oil. After that, I'm pretty much done. For those of you in the know in the natural hair community, I am currently doing a castor oil challenge. |
birdman:I never stated that it was a bed of roses for men. Like I said before, the life of any Black man is never easy, and yes I know not all women are passive and submissive but for the most part Nigerian/African culture encourages women to be submissive and passive whether its through present day Judeo–Christian beliefs or preexisting beliefs cultural/indigenous religious beliefs. Look, I'm not tryin' to knock the Black man down but it just not an easy life as a woman. Yes, some men stupidly cater to some idiotic demands of some woman but for the most its just not easy. |
^^^ Yupp |
birdman:Lmao, fine call it what you like. Call it "lazy", call it "nonsense", if those words suite you then good for you. Nigerian culture tends to cater more to men than women. Let's not act as though there isn't a huge double standard within our culture and many other parts of African culture. As for the "home-wrecking gold-diggers", last time I checked, it takes two to tango. I'm sure those men involved with these supposed "home-wrecking gold-diggers" knew what they were doing when they decided to step outside of their marriages. I was watching a Youtube video recently about a West African girl who was talking about an argument she had with an old friend of hers. This friend of her's said to her "Behind every married man there is a woman and behind her is his wife", the guy who made the comment argued and used it as a means of justification a man's infidelity and said that women should just deal with it and accept things for what they are and that that was just how African society was, mind you, there were guys who agreed with this guys and encouraged what he was saying. Now if a woman were to take on the same idiotic notions of that fool, then the interpretation and reaction of such a comment would be would totally different. I'm am in no way saying that the life of a Nigerian man is easy. I know it its not. The life of any Black man is never easy. I have a father and I take note of how hard he works to attain everything his has accomplished in life but I'm not gonna sit her and act as though there aren't issues here. Just because we [Nigerian women] may not be as restricted as women in Saudi Arabia doesn't mean that we aren't restricted at all. As for you asking if there were a ceiling, yes there is a ceiling. You may not see it but it is certainly there. |
lol, I confess!!! I steal from the pot as well [and i have no regrets]. The soup is too good for me to feel guilty. |
birdman:Oh really? Would you care to explain to me why it's "nonsense" and "lazy"? |
Hmmmm, I didn't know Katoucha was Fulani. |
africhika:Yupp, I noticed that as well. |
Can you please tell me what book you read this from? I'd like to take a look at it. |
Eddeux:Personally sex in Spanish is great. I don't know about Chinese though. Sounds a little weird. Different stokes for different folks. |
I am in no way surprised by this. We're talking about a country that takes pride in holding women back. What do you expect? We're talking about a society that will bend over backwards for men while walking on the backs of their women. This doesn't shock at all. |
SA Goddess:Okie dokie. madlady:I really thought I'd be able to start the thread this weekend. I'll get right on it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. |
I personally don't mind waves just as long as they are naturally how the person's hair is. When I see guys going out of their way to go to barber shops to make their hair wavy, in the back of my mind I feel as though their suffering from the same "good hair"/ "bad hair" complex that many Black women seem to suffer from. I don't mind cutting of the hair, braids, or loc'ed hair. Those are fine with me, just as long as they are clean and well kept. I'm very big on hygiene when it comes to personal care and the body. |
Hmmm, well I think Brasilian Portuguese is sexy. I'm in the process of learning. Hopefully when I have a full grasp of the language, I'll go pay some friends and relatives a visit in Bahia. |
abagoro:Can you please tell me the name of the book you read this? I always wondered why there were some many Yoruba influences in the Americas than other ethnic groups. When I was elementary school when we'd learn about slavery, I realized that a lot of the countries they mentioned that had slaves were exported to the Americas from West Africa were people of Yoruba decent. |
And are you the Yourba man my mom got married to? Dude, the problem. . . .THE MAIN PROBLEM, I have with u Ibo MEN (your women are waaaay different from you bitter pric*ks) is your easy ability to turn the truth on its heads without flinching; such as u are doing now! You know my history, u know my background (even people like 006 delved deep and found out who my dad was) but it is more convenient for your version of the "truth" to now turn around and say my (Step)Dad is Yoruba! See why it will be really hard to like or respect your kind? I owe no one apologies for my views (If I actually hold any on all of this). But, what I've done on here (and will continue doing) is anytime I see an Ibo story full of lies, denigrating another group, and I investigate and poke holes in the story and can prove that its a bunch of the usual Ibo "Oh they hate me cus I'm the hottest Tamale" tale---- I'll shout if off from the roof top! You fools are so bitter its unbelievable. The sad thing is Youre mad at the wrong party. The Hausas barbecued you, yet you hate the Yorubas for not letting themselves get enslaved by your marauding, rag-tag army! You hate them for not letting Ojukwu become their King! For them not supporting your aggressive, invading force they are to be labelled as cowards! Well, you punks didnt want the Hausas becoming your rulers either, WTF does that make you, you hypocritical pieces of shiyyyt?!!? Whether Ibo men love me or not is of no consequence----they biyytches is feeling the kid (as evidenced by the support my wifies done gave me on here already) and thats what matters in the end! Ibo men can suck a big ding-a-ling for all I care.
Sweetie, please stop it with all of these angry responses. I still think you're a tribalist though |
