Ngorbungor: Oga, the point I raised is very simple, can Tinubu succeed with his brand of politics in the south east or south south, the answer is capital NO, is Wike a formidable politician ? The answer is Yes, is Rochas a formidable politician ? Answer is Yes, can they withstand Tinubu if by any chance they are from South West ? Yes they can, given their track record. About Saraki, it took someone with balls to look into his father's eyes and say no, and whatever happened to Bukola after that is not my concern. Please tske note: Olushola Saraki is the father while Bukola Saraki is the son seriously bro, you have a lot to learn....how can you be comparing regional rats with a national lion? Tinubu's influence cuts across the country, those rats you mentioned can't even hold their state...you see I don't discuss politics with bitterness, if you set bitterness aside you'll see what I'm saying...there are politicians that are bigger than Wike and Okorocha in the SW that couldn't defeat Tinubu...even the oracle himself (OBJ) lost against Tinubu in the battle for the soul of lagos...you will only see what I am saying if you drop hate and bitterness... |

Ngorbungor: I understand your point, Alhaji Abubakar Olushola Saraki, did same in Kwara State until his son Bukola retire him, simply because his son has ball's not a coward, untill people with ball's raise up in Lagos Tinubu will continue to rule Lagos till he meet his ancestors.
Simply put, Lagos has no men with ball's Your knowledge about politics is really shallow and little...i have been reading your comments since, common your points are either inaccurate, incorrect, not-well-thought of......so you didn't know what happened btw Saraki and his Father were a stage fight to install him as the god-father in Kwara? Many of you hardly understand Nigerian politics yet you speak with so much conviction. Look at how the same Olusola Saraki was disgraced in Kwara in 2019, he couldn't even secure his own seat let alone of securing the state. Like that guy told you, sentiments apart, Comparing Tinubu with Wike plus Okorocha is the biggest political insult of the year. |

Amah70: So Yoruba scratched Fulani back in 2015, therefore Fulani shall scratch Yoruba back in 2023 to make a Yoruba succeed PMB? No more zoning or rotation.
No more need to consider political correctness?
No more need to put the interest of unity ahead of your Area boy calculation?
All that matters is because Tinubu was party to APC formation, therefore it’s Yoruba turn to succeed PMB?
You are yet to tell why two Yorubas - Obasanjo and Falae - were fielded to fly the flags of the two largest political parties.
See why Sanusi Lamido Sanusi called you people “Area Boys Politicians.” Your machinations are like an Area Boy’s - very hollow, can’t consider untoward results.
If you have heard of NADECO? You are inadvertently courting NADECO II. Lol....i laugh at your sense of gullibility, for you to opine that people will use presidency to console South east in 2023. You will see that no one cares by then. If you need lecture on the bolded you can book for a private class, but you'll be funny to think that the powers that be at the time willfully ceeded presidency to South-West. I repeat again,it is never given to anyone on a platter of gold. They worked for it, the work started in 1992, go and do your research. And to let you know, blackmailing other region, whining and crying like a baby with a victim mentality and threatening everyone are not the needed methodologies for having presidency. |

Amah70: Stop lying to yourself.
Most of Yoruba were in a Yoruba-based political party - AD - when Obasanjo and Falae were filled in for PDP and ANPP presidential tickets. Retired Northern military generals released Obasanjo from prison and pushed him to oust other contestants from other parts of Nigeria.
In Nigeria, power is given, if not, how could OBJ from prison with only N10,000 in his bank account beat Alex Ekwueme who formed the party? Power is given in Nigeria because of the political structure.
PDP was formed by late Alex Ekwueme with his group of 33.
The only political alliance built by a section of Yoruba - mostly Yoruba MURIC - with the north is APC. Are you happy over the level APC led Nigeria? You people need to be honest in your unbridled power drunk drive to cancel zoning because it’s turn of the Igbo to be in Aso Rock. Your power drunk posture may backfire on you. Continue to lie to yourself by twisting narratives. You even claimed Alex Ekwueme formed PDP. I'm not surprised you know, Igbos are known widely to be deluded. Power is never given to anyone in the world, it is calculatively taken. if you are grown and wise enough you'll know that 1998 PDP political convention was more like a continuation of 1993 election, of which the acclaimed winner was denied his mandate. I repeat again, there is no agreement, whether in writing or verbal, between the southern regions for rotational presidency. You thought Yorubas were stupid when they supported Buhari in 2015? You see politics is about alignment, it is about give and take, it is about scratch your back and I'll scratch yours too. But I know Igbos don't know that, they only know politics of hate, tribalism and threat. And no one aligns with an enbittered set of people. So after Yorubas worked to install Buhari for the sole purpose of having their support in 2023, they will now hand it over to the Igbos shey? Just ask yourself if that makes any sense. I ask you again, Are the igbos scared to contest against the Yorubas? Igbos should fight to have PDP presidential ticket, after all Igbos have slaved for PDP for the past 20years, getting the ticket should not be too difficult. Yorubas too will fight to have APC presidential ticket. Then the 2 can now slug it out at the general polls and we'll see who will win. You know already that the Northern cabal will prefer a Yoruba presidency to an Igbo presidency. Nobody trusts embittered people. |

Amah70: Stop being shophistiwretched in mindset. If it was by open competition, Obasanjo or Falae would not have flown the presidential tickets of the two largest political parties in 1999.
If it’s by open competition in any of the political parties, neither Igbo, Yoruba, SS and any other southerners can win the tickets of any of the largest political parties, talk less, win presidential election.
Refer to the political structure of Nigeria for education on this. Lol...I know you are a young chap who needs education in politics. As I have done to your elders in the time past, I would educate you too.... Obasanjo and Falae contested against Igbos, Hausa and Fulanis in 1999 and won their party's ticket to become the flagbearer. (A simple google search on this would clear your doubts).... I am repeating it again, stop spreading cheap lies, there is no where, whether in writing or in principle where regions within the Southern Nigeria sat down and discussed zoning. NO WHERE!!!! ......Stop spreading cheap lies to suit your narrative. Igbos should be brave enough to contest against Yorubas, let us see who would win. And to the boldened statement, only Igbos who have no political alliance across the Country believe in such thinking. Northerners and Yorubas who have built bridges know that even the smallest region can win a presidential ticket, all it takes is a wide political alliance, I know an igbo person can't understand that. |

Soissons: Northern politicos are scared of Tinubu, they would surely prefer an upstart 'technocrat' without a structure or following of his own.
What they don't understand is that power cannot exist in a vacuum, and a neophyte president with no power base would surely accrete one as soon as he's vested with the incredible powers granted the Nigerian presidential office under the 1999 constitution...same way a self-confessed amateur like Goodluck Jonathan was immediately surrounded by ex-militants and other shady characters who isolated him from commonsense and boosted his courage. Be deceiving yourself, Northern cabals would prefer a Yoruba presidency to an Igbo presidency and the only candidate they trust in the South West is Tinubu. If you have been following the news you would have seen how their traditional rulers have been visiting him as a show of loyalty and support. Let me tell you, Nigerian politics is about self-interest. North has no problem with power returning to the South but they are sure weary of some regions getting into power and they'll do all they can to stop them |

Amah70: Yoruba ask for zoning presidency to the south but Yoruba cancels zoning in the southern regions, because it’s turn of the Igbo in the SE region to succeed PMB.
In other words, Yoruba is canceling zoning for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
I see NADECO II loading in Lagos.... when north retains the presidency due to cancellation of zoning by the Yoruba. Igbos have come again with lies, where and when did the South agree to zoning. The only existing zoning is intra-party. Stop peddling lies to suit your case. DanMisla: Hi,
Lemme try to give back to this thread, which really helped. My results (finally!) from Abuja, 10 Dec: Comp. Ecrite C1 - 240/300 (CLB ; Comp. Orale B2 - 260/360 (CLB 7); Exp. Ecrite C1 - 390/450 (CLB 9); Exp. Orale B2 - 329/450 (CLB 7)
I started learning French (at AF Lagos) years ago, so I'm not best placed to answer the popular question: how long it'd take to go from novice to B2/CLB7. For that I strongly recommend testimonies from @njbybrthnly and @BootyliciousHon. Their advice is valid for French debutants as for people, like me, who fall in and out. My experience:
EE Pleasantly shocked at my Writing scores: I didn't feel confident before and after the exam. For Task 1, completing a "fait divers", we wrote about a guy who woke up to see bank notes strewn in his garden, and I did my best to produce the closest I could to a newspaper report. So...Who? When? Where? What? How? Etc? But I also used reported speech, as a journalist would quote an interviewee. For eg: ""I was shocked; I almost had a heart attack!!", said Mr. Butiku to a reporter from…" Then to add colour, like..."Mr. Butiku took photos of his garden before calling the police, because he knows they are crooks". And throw in a catchy ending.
For Task 2, after the intro, identify two or three opposing points and then use connectors (par contre, en revanche) to provide counter arguments. Lots of practice helped me. As did preparing a quick plan is essential. I saw somewhere that you shouldn't write your entire essay on rough paper first; I totally agree! A huge part of the challenge is managing time.
CO I’m relieved as I made the big mistake of fretting over 1 question and it almost messed me up. You really should be reading ahead not dwelling one already gone. I too benefited from French news, and as TEF always repeats the format, I spent time listening to interview sessions, with a presenter discussing a topic with 1 or more guests.
CE I was pleased with the Reading test, so maybe I'm a little disappointed with CLB8. Silly mistakes perhaps? But by all means, start with the first 10 and last 10 questions, a brilliant tip I got here! Some of the questions, I had to just do a process of elimination and to pace myself; time went by so fast!
EO The formal role play was to call a clown agency about services for a children party. I got little or no prep time! I struggled with questions: we didn't do many clown parties in my time...alas! Second task was to convince a friend to spend a weekend sleeping in a "yourte", literally the first time I saw the word! I had to look at the photos to realise it's a tent. The idea here is to find a way to keep trying to convince the examiner, "your friend". You have to be creative. And you must have a response for all his questions. If he asks about costs, for eg, you must give a figure, ideally a ridiculously cheap figure. My examiner complained about sleeping in the open with mosquitoes...I said don’t worry there would be so much fun we won’t sleep. He said what if he breaks a leg, I said emergency services respond quickly. I even referred to a mutual friend, "Paul", who had had fun during the camping some weekends ago. Going on for 10mins wasn't easy and I had to say "je comprends tes reticences" a few times. But, it was ok in the end.
En plus… I was initially disappointed with the prep class, where they got us essentially working through past questions. I had hoped for more tips and tricks. But no knowledge is lost, no practice is wasted, and I do believe my Writing improved those 5 weeks. It’s always useful to share ideas with other candidates. So, in the end, value for the N15k.
Then, I can't get over the fact that we have to wait 6-8 weeks to get the results; the manual said 2-4. Its ridiculous. I hope you manage your anxiety better than I did!
Donc viola, happy to answer any questions. Best wishes to those sitting this weekend! ................ |

Looking back, I'd recommend scanning through the questions while the example audio is being read out...at the beginning, observe the images closely and pre-empt what the possible dialogue might be and then listen with an open mind. I'd recommend listening exclusively to the audio before writing the answers. Always take advantage of the example dialogs to read ahead.
You're right about perhaps leveraging AF for Writing. They seem to have it covered. One thing though which will help is: for part 1, frequently read fait divers on Google. For example, after my exam, I googled fait divers fourgon pluie and voila I saw my exam question staring back at me! So frequently Google fait divers and add high frequency key words like perdu, vole, etrange, disparu and you'll see popular type 1 questions. Use a lot of the plus que perfect tense, I heard they're scored higher. For type 2, master the response type, I mean know when a letter is expected or when an essay is expected and master the fixed response styles.
Cheers to your eventual success! ....... |

I started preparing for the TEF some time in September. Roughly a month...but just to put some context, I must add that I was rather more confident with other areas except speaking(I have taken the DELF B2 before).
For my speaking prep: I got familiar with the test types. I realised that for the first section, I'd basically have to phone someone to get more information on something. So I learned all of the standard phone scenarios e.g. stating reason for calling...paraphrasing existing information, checking if you heard correctly by paraphrasing what the interviewer said, using "can you tell me more about xyz..." are there extra charges not included in the ad.? Etc...this is really easy to hack.
For the convincing part, I imagined the scenarios in English and identified the "Frenchiest" way to express them... So I had a handful of phrases for EVERY possible counter argument. Examples "What do you mean you're not interested?" That's a fair point but have you thought about this xyz benefit? "I really don't think that's a problem especially since...", "this is a great way to impress xyz..."(I remeber using this specifically to convince my interviewer that he should consider electric cars because his crush was a fan of the environment), etc...the list is endless but it really helps to have these at the back of your hand to fill in the awkward gaps when the interviewer is becoming a pain...find the French equivalent and memorize them basically...
An intensive 3 months (with the right amount of effort) can help with Speaking, Writing...I say this because it's easy to learn the standard writing required to get a high B2 in TEF. (I got a low B2 with relatively less prep than I should have) Speaking might be tricky because you need to improve your listening to hear what the examiner is saying...nonetheless that's a possible 6 points.
As for listening and reading, you may need longer to acquire the vocabulary and speed required to get points based on the TEF scoring charts.
I must encourage you that it is actually within reach and you should go for it, if anything, for when you eventually get to Canada....@njbybrthnly is a prime example of what is achievable when you put good effort in French. .... |
Travel › Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by Intrepid01(m): 12:44pm On Nov 18, 2020 |
njbybrthnly: I'm still in shock o...had to tell them to send me the scores through email to be sure . The verse for today on my Bible app sha sums up how I feel right now - "Now, our God, we give you thanks, and we praise your glorious name." - 1 Chronicles 29:13 GNB. I may have put in a lot of work yeah, but I know it's only by His grace that I got these perfect scores.
For those who don't know any french, I recommend you start by reading Schaum's outline of French grammar (my french bible). If you ask me, they explain all the rules explicitly (French has many rules sha...chai). Other books I found really useful are the Competences series - for expression and comprehension orale - they come with mp3s so you can listen to french speakers in many different situations, and french vocabulary books. If you can, you can also read french articles online on sites like Le Monde, le Parisien, Figaro etc - this will help with both your reading and writing.
I posted the link to download said books previously. Please check my posts. I printed most of the books sha...reading on a PC gives me headaches so I feel this helped a lot
Also, try to listen to french speakers everyday - listening to le journal en francais facile on RFI was a morning ritual for me. You could also subscribe to some french YouTube channels - Français avec pierre is my personal favourite but there are many other good ones (Propulse Training and Enseignement de FLE are good for TEF practice questions). It doesn't really matter if you don't understand a word they are saying at first, but with time you'll realize that even though you may not understand the words individually, you get the general meaning of what they are saying.
In addition, the prepmyfuture app is really important (thanks @mariah203 for recommending it), especially for the writing section. You'll discover that for part 2 (the letter writing part), the introduction and conclusion have a standard format (that may even be up to 80 words!). Once you have that, for the body of the letter, you just need to make sure you use logical connectors and your grammar is good
Going into the exam, I was most wary of the speaking part but it turned out to be the easiest - I don't think they pay attention to your grammar as long as you can communicate your point effectively. I posted some sample questions for the section A earlier sha - again please check my previous posts (Sorry no energy to look for it) and @Bellerin posted some useful tips for the second part.
An important point to note is that examination is not a true test of knowledge (my french still needs loads of work) but once you learn what is expected of you in the exam and practice, practice, practice...success is sure.
Just keep at it...finally we will all come here to give praises .... |

So Trump is asking for recounts in place that meet this criteria.. Real Clear politics has rescinded it's call on Pennsylvania already so keep fooling yourself Oga keep quiet, there’s nothing you said there that I don’t know. With or without Trump saying a word, once the difference in total vote accrued to each candidate is less than 2%, a recount automatically kicks in. Trump doesn’t even have to cry or shout for it. But what Trump is asking for is not just a recount in all the states he lost, he’s also making a case for mail-in ballots, he’s suggesting that mail-in ballots that were counted came in after election deadline and that’s why he lost. Meanwhile it is not possible, only mail-in ballots that were dispatched at 11:59pm in Election day were counted. |
