ochejoseph:To answer the question: 1. Phillipines controlled by the Chinese 2. Jamaica controlled by the Chinese and the Indians. There are many more examples. But I believe these two are enough for now. |
/ Nigerians should be lucky that they don't have to deal with tax issues. Tax problems in developed nations have driven some people to suicide. \ |
Exchange rate: N380/$ Tell a senior bank official that you have $1m to sell to a third party @ N340/$. Bank official quotes @ N360/$. All these during the US$ scarcity. It would only take a few phone calls before BDC operators mop up the liquidity. Evans gets N340m, bank official gets N20m. What bank official will raise an alarm at such a sweet deal? The bank official will keep begging and disturbing Evans for more deals. There you have it. |
dre11:The only problem I see is that the author of the article does not think like a criminal. Why has money laundry been in existence since 1900? If you want $5m moved under the radar in Nigeria, so shall it be. Where do drug barons buy cocaine in Nigeria? Only the people in this line of business know how they deal. |
icemann:Discretionary investment. Right? |
Hate it or cherish it, black people are subservient to white people. Country: Named by oyibo Independence: given by oyibo Natural resources (oil): Drilled and refined by oyibo. Aso Rock: built by oyibo Road network: built by oyibo (Julius Berger, Setraco, RCC) Election postponement: explained to British Parliament Sick president: under oyibo treatment. Ammuntion: bought from oyibo Best companies to work for: Shell, Chevron, etc all oyibo companies. Financial aids: oyibo The reason Buhari and his boys have not killed infidels? Fear of oyibo. Can someone explain to me how Nigeria has the control of her destiny? |
segun400:Help! But verify. There are too many of them on NL. |
freakthingz:Lol. E remain River Benue. |
AutoJoshNG:Kindly explain how this is a car race. It is not even off road activites. Next time, they should take the offroad activities to Apapa Road. There are enough gutters and potholes to test their suspensions. Some good spots: \

/ If OBJ had died before 1999 election, we would have said that he is the messiah Nigeria never had. The same goes for Buhari. Abiola was a thief who dined with the devil and got consumed by the devil. No be me talk am. Listen to his brother Fela Anikulapo Kuti explain Abiola's escapade in ITT (coined International Thief Thief). \ |
feranmi400:Who should you feel sorry for? The boyfriend! He bought the cow while the sugardaddy will still be getting milk at a cheaper rate. What a marriage! The bf forget say nothing like a free meal. |
EgunMogaji:/ I don't understand how someone would be living like this. Imagine extorting $1million dollars as ransom in Nigeria. Dude deserves public execution. / |
The funny thing are the folks who think that if and when war starts in Nigeria, they will be in their zones chilling and watching it in HD televisions. Misery needs company. A rogue zone will find a way to bomb a peaceful zone to draw everyone into the melee. |
And like little children, they got distracted by little noise from the big issue at hand. |
CarlosTheJackal:Sure. Check out the 3-weeks travel schedule of Ooni of Ife in US last year. Check out the trips (with purpose) of Emir Sanusi in Washington DC. John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on a 2-day visit in 2016. Where did he go? The palace of Sultan of Sokoto. Diplomatic overtures happen for a reason. Donald Trump's team are still struggling to find their niche. So the issue of Rex Tillerson's visit in irrelevant. When he visits Nigeria, he knows where to go. As long as US and Britain are concerned, a handshake across the Atlantic with Nigeria is with the North. International organizations are lining up with donations for the IDP camps in the North? Is that the only humanitarian crisis in Nigeria? Name any eze of Igbo extraction, or WIC or Ohaneze leadership that come close to that. You may choose the dishonorable path of insolence but the facts stare you in the face. Wallowing in ignorance is your prerogative. Knock yourself out. |
Militude:1. You need antibiotics for infections. 2. Dissolve noncoated aspirin tablets in water. Use it to wash/scrub (use hand not sponge) your face every night. Let it sit for about 20-30 mins, then rinse off. You will look amazing in about a week. |
EgunMogaji:I just checked out some of Richyoungruler's works. The guy is serious -- my kind of dude. No holds barred. Egun: You are like NL construction personnel wikipedia. / |
xcolanto:I talk with certain level of confidence and certainty. Go figure! Feel free to quote me anywhere. I stand by my statement. Ever heard of any igwe, WIC or Ohaneze leadership having meeting with any caucus of the US senate? Don't even get me started on IWA or CISA charade. The Northern youth coalition issued a quit notice to people of SE in the North. Did you hear anything from World Igbo Congress? No. Because the two factions are busy fighting each other for authenticity while Igbo houses are about to be ignited. I have attended enough meetings and communicated with the so-called leaders to understand the limits of their influences. / |
EgunMogaji:I think the thread was derailed. I haven't seen this before in Nigeria. I think it adds to the structural integrity of the house especially since California is prone to earthquake. They insert rods about 4ft apart in hollow blocks while building side walls. Check this out:
|
xcolanto:They didn't miss it. Igbo people have no lobbying group in Washington DC to push their agenda. They have multiple organizations and associations just for jamborees and massaging their own egos. Only Hausa and Yoruba people have lobbyists in Washington which is why a US Secretary of State would fly to Nigeria to have meetings with emirs and Imams. |
lofty900:You lived in the North but the North didn't live through you. The North has always caught people unawares. They go from 0 to 100 very quickly especially after friday prayers in the mosque. The ones you call your friends will point you out and lead the massacre. \ |
kopell:Sometimes it is not everything that one has to explain. Some people will never get it. So why bother? A businessman in Nigeria loses $21k equivalent in the stock market. He bites the dust. If I lose the same amount, I will deduct $3k every year for the next 7 years when I file for taxes. Try explaining that to some people who live on hearsay. It is a different system because it seems that only civil servants pay standardized fair amount of taxes in Nigeria. Every donation, offering, tithe or most gifts given will yield tax credit at the end of the year. The companies funding different projects in Africa are making killings in tax credits. \ |
Evidently the officer has no combat training. He should have engaged the AK47 in a rapid fire mode while running (suppression fire) instead of backing away from a gun-wielding assailant. They mowed him down. Take a look at the lackadaisical attitude of the security man. He does not seem to be security conscious at all for someone working in a dangerous place like a bank. |
DrGoodmanFather:It is ok. We have been audited many times by IRS before. So we followed the advice of the attorney that handled the cases. That's all. |
DrGoodmanFather:Read the comment one more time. The subsidiary companies in Nigeria do get tax write-offs and rate of asset depreciations will be credited annually. This is the third one we are starting in Nigeria. The other two are transportation and medical equipment/logistics. We never had any issues. So I don't get where your comment is coming from. We got the machines directly from the company without paying the mark-ups of middlemen. There are many ways of doing things. We chose the best way for "us" following the advice of an attorney. If at any time anyone wants to venture into any business, they can get their machines or equipment from wherever is most convenient for them. Chekitaut sounded off as if I said that we are the only ones with such machines in Nigeria. Checkitaut can buy his Mack dump trucks in Lagos or import them from Texas--it is his prerogative. I shouldn't be in the position to question his business decisions or to point out that there are Mack trucks in Nigeria for sale. The ones I take serious are the ones reaching out to see what logistic support they can provide. Can you supply sand, cement, steel, stone dust? Sitting here talking about machines already procured is a colossal waste of time. Call up your architects. Get your designs ready. They can supply all the blocks/concrete electric poles/interlocking stones/veneer/mosaic stones you will need when production starts in October. Take care. |
Chekitaut:I don't get your point. Did I say that it is not? But I don't know where. Why buy from a middleman when I can get them from the source? See! Now you are thinking. How does the company get tax write-offs by sending the money to Nigeria? Will IRS believe it? Just say that you don't know. Moreover, I don't have the convenience of moving around easily in Nigeria to know what is where. A city like Ibadan has a lot of stuff. I have never been there and there is no way in hell I am going there to buy anything. And no way in double hell am sending money to anyone to buy for me in this Buhari's economy. Once bitten, twice shy. Only a few will understand. Here is one stop shopping. I pick what I want, pay and expect same to be delivered. Before I even get to the place, I know the price and tax included. Affordability becomes a yes or no. I hate haggling. I am sure that a lot of my machines are available in Nigeria. If I cannot find it online, I save myself the headache. Just like vehicles, there are many for sale in Nigeria but the convenience of buying and shipping from here is awesome and the company gets write-offs from verifiable purchase of assets. A tax attorney advised the company and it followed the advice per asset purchase. Just assume that there are some details of the business that you have no business knowing. There you have it. \ |
kopell:The machines we use in Nigeria are usually imported. If I can get something of similar quality in Nigeria, I would. The same company makes flat pallets too. But I met a guy here on NL who made samples that meet the standard we need. We gave him the contract to mass produce the pallets. For the trailers, we procured the parts and will have them assembled in Nigeria with fingers crossed. I bought a forklift here because it is easier but not necessarily cheaper for me. Support Nigeria is good, but the producers and manufacturers need to up their game. I have always argued that it takes the same amount of material and logistics to produce good and bad products. Sometimes it is lack of patience, ideas or combination of both. Do we have the answers? No. But we shall strive to be the best we can be. |
kopell:/ I am not in Nigeria. I do not have the luxury to be running around to look for stuff and when I did delegate, the long stories no be here. I like gadgets. I love equipment. I don't like the crude way Nigerians produce stuff. My hues and cries are always about people not getting the value of what they pay for in Nigeria because we love shortcuts. There are certain things that could be sourced locally like steel for trailers and iron works for the site. But there are certain things I will not leave to Nigerian workers. This project is not primarily profit-driven. It has to be shown that we can operate with standard. That's all. Enough of the criticism. NB: You mentioned that with Superior CNC multiple Axis machines one can make better ones in less than a week. Did you leave any contact numbers? No! You expect potential customers to pry it out of you . Everyone does not have luxury of that time. I have purchased a lot of things through contacts on NL. Some people advertise without details. I saw a very informative video about some steel work productions in Aba. Guess what? When the 15 minutes video was over, there was no mention of address or contact information. Go figure! \ |
bixton:We are starting production in Enugu and Abuja this October once the rainy season subsidizes. The machines have successfully landed in Nigeria, cleared and being installed. Our team is still working on how to make blocks similar to what is obtainable in Home Depot but close to the current price in Nigeria (all logistics factored in). I will keep the forum informed.

Listen to eze Igbo Kano at your own peril. |
Nigerians will vote in Buhari in 2019 and use the next 4 years to moan. It will only take N1000 and 2 cups of rice each. It is best to leave Nigerians to their device. |
/ Did Boko Haram form a political party to push their agenda? Did OPC, Egbesu boys, NDPVF, MEND, Gamji or Arewa Youth Forum form political parties to push their respective agenda? So why should MASSOB or IPOB form a political party to push their agenda? These APC goons are ret.arded indeed. \ |
