emmadejust:
Hello nairalanders.

There is an arguement between my guy on, if a particular part in a country should decide or agree to succeed out from their original country.
That all individual property owned by people of other separatist will be lost to citizens of the other state/country.

My question is, does succession make legal property owned by individual lost because he/she is no more part of the other separatist country ?

Your detail analysis please

@ lalasticala
/

Can a Nigerian own a house or any property outside of Nigeria?

Can a citizen of one country live and invest in another country?

Do Nigerians need visa to go to Cameroun, Niger or Ghana?

The answers to these questions will guide you. We tend to make otherwise simple things very complicated.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why I Left Christ Embassy Church by InvertedHammer: 7:40am On Jul 03, 2017
Marchman:
I have not posted in a while but if you have followed my previous posts, you would know that I used to attend Christ Embassy Church, even though I had reservations about some of their teachings. I finally left the church, phew!
I will use this thread to explain why I quit the church and why I may never attend another Pentecostal/Charismatic church which now appears to me like a sole proprietorship, with the General Overseer or lead pastor as the owner.

1. Excessive premium on Giving money

In Christ Embassy the number one thing they lay emphasis on is giving money. The church can use any tactic to get money from members, including manipulation, threats and the likes. While there is nothing wrong with giving money or time, I believe everything should be balanced and moderate. I think that was why St Paul said we should not give out of target, or threat but as we decide in our heart. In CE, there is nothing like moderation or balance when it comes to giving. They tend to believe literally that everything answers to money. You don’t have a job, give and sow seed. You are infertile, give and sow seed. Your father is sick, give and sow seed. Every message ends with a charge to give money. They collect tithes, offerings, partnerships (money), seeds (more money), first fruits (your whole income in January) and plethora of others.

You are also charged to give for Pastor Chris’s birthday and for all the other pastors. And for projects and the likes too.

Before I started worshipping with the Church, I read the story of the account clerk at the Sheraton Hotel who stole from his employers to give to the church. As a member, I could relate with the man. The Church is obsessed with money. They do not mind how or where you get it. If you want to rise or be noticed or win awards, just give big money. It is this obsession with money that led it to start collecting gate fees from members for its New Year Service at the LoveWorld Convocation Arena in Lagos, which ironically was built by the offerings of the members charged to get in. A lot of people I know personally had gone broke, had their businesses ruined, or fallen out with a loved one because of this teaching by the church.

In summary, at CE, money is everything- EVERYTHING.
It is a Nigerian thing....herd mentality. One person does something and everyone sheepishly follow suit.
Offering and tithe giving, no one wants to be the odd one out. They give to finance the pastors' lifestyles even when they can barely survive.
Someone made money in hotel business, everyone wants to own a hotel. A blogger bought a house? Every Jane and Joe becomes a blogger. Someone came out with growing beard, and bearded gang is born. Toyota venza is en vogue...thus it becomes a middle class symbol.

It is the culture. A culture that is bereft of progressive innovation and ideas followed by the masses that cherish sense of belonging even when they cannot fully or intelligently articulate what it is they are identifying with.

Please advise.

I was in an employment of a bank until recently when my employment was terminated.

When I had the job, I took my family welfare as my priory. My wife and our only son were faring good, I always ensure we do not lack the basic necessities. Meanwhile, my wife did not have a job then. All the house upkeep expenses including the cost of running her postgraduate program were on me and I felt comfortable bearing the costs as the breadwinner of the family.

After I lost my job in the bank some month ago, my wife got an employment with the state govt. With her little income, she has been able to assist in bearing some expenses, even she pays for fuelling our car sometimes.

The drama has now started in the house and our marriage is on the verge of breaking up.

Any little issue, my wife will turn it to quarrel, different abuses. Funny enough, she would be referring to the financial supports she has been rendering in the house. This is a woman that did not work at all for 2 years and I was bearing all the expenses with pleasure. Now she had only supported me for about 4months now and she's is misbehaving.

To my surprise, my wife maintains a record in which she records every penny she spends in the house including food items and fuel. With this, she always ask me when will I pay him back.

At the instance of a simple argument/misunderstanding, my wife would be boasting of 'I paid for this, I paid for that....' 'If not for my support since you had problem at work......'

Please advise me, I am getting fed-up with the situation, my wife had changed totally.
I said here on NL on many occasions that bankers should endeavour to have a second source of livelihood because of the volatile nature of the industry in Nigeria.

But you thought you knew better than the master. Carry your cross. He who fails to plan, plans to fail. Congratulations! Just because of feeding the family you think she is insulting you. Wait until she gets a boyfriend, you will see real insolence.

You might be one of those that run their mouth instead of heeding a simple advice like those MMM knuckleheads that were insulting just about anyone that was against their gambling addictions/affliction.

You have been going for HIV test every week since 2006.

So you have done 520 HIV tests.

Why?

Have you considered that your problem may be more psychiatry than medical? Just saying.

We were all created with free will, now what good is it for us to have it if the intention was not for us to use it cause we'd go to hell if we stray?

I'm confused here.
Since the beginning of time, those in power had always have the quest to control the hoi polloi. Fortunately or unfortunately, they found the tools in religious doctrines.

Make them believe and they will fall in line. Or as the religion of peace succinctly put it-- force them to believe and they will fall in line.

EMMAUGOH:
A whole lay down rules by Catholics was boycotted to appoint the said bishop...which we know the appointed bishop politically made himself relevant to the pope to be appointed and the people are not happy about it.

But the press make it look like its just a tribal thing to give bad name to the peoples demand... I think some people in the know need to apologize to the people and explain why things were done the other way than allowing this issue to escalate.
Mbaise lost the agitation when they agreed to be under the administration of Cardinal Onaiyekan of Abuja Archdiocese than to be under Bishop Okpalaeke. I don't like how those idiotic priests are being treated with kids' gloves. They should all be derobbed so that they can go and form their own Mbaise Catholic church. As a matter of concern, all priests of Mbaise origin must be sent back to Mbaise to minister to their people.

I was expecting Bishop Okpaleke to be the one protesting his posting to Mbaise. Humans and devils should have no communication.

Politics › Re: What Exactly Are We Restructuring? - Dele Momodu by InvertedHammer: 9:43am On Jul 02, 2017
Momodu missed the point.

Abiola built political bridges across the country. Where is Abiola today?

Umar Yar'Adua was a vegetable in London and the cabals around him held on to power. Some people are willing to kill for power.

Buhari allocated all the service chiefs to all his Northern muslim brothers. Didn't Momodu see a deviation from federal character in that? Every attempt to challenge the status quo was shut down by the muslim leaders strategically positioned in the leadership of the congress.

SNC and the likes were more of a jamboree where a selected few were paid to do nothing for a journey that was aimed at achieving nothing. Thus all the recommendations were conveniently swept under the carpet.

Personally I don't think that there is a diplomatic solution to Nigeria's problem. The Fed Govt has shown on numerous occasions that they negotiate with those whose activities disrupt the flow of oil or whose activities bring disrepute or embarrassment to the Presidency on international level.

If IPOB shows legitimate concerns and take up arms, the same FG will be forced to address their grievances. Like I always say, the best military man is a mortal, bleeds and could die like an ordinary civilian. As John F. Kennedy rightly pointed out, "those who make peaceful resolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable".

Romance › Re: Nigerian Men Need To Understand That Some Women Have Financial Standards. by InvertedHammer: 5:48am On Jul 02, 2017
It is an illusion.

They claim to be big girls but will not stop begging for airplane tickets to exotic vacation spots. You hear stories like "the automatic gear box of my car is N400k, I need assistance". The financial assistance they need is never less than N100k and they act/talk like it is nothing. Yeah. Money they don't have. Any man that falls for their crap deserves it. Some of them have businesses you think are doing well. But when you get closer, they need financial support.

Get a young undergraduate as a girlfriend and live a happier life. You get the same love and attention for a lot less. What will the phantom big girl do that an average girl cannot do? Now you are thinking. Most of the so-called big girls are corporate beggars. But Nigerians fall for packaging.

AreaFada2:
Funding is not just about pay. Training is a big part of it. Training is not just about clinical skills, but also doctor-patient relationship skills, ethical aspects, etc.

Note that better funding will also help retain more qualified doctors to improve doctor/patient ratio, improve workload, treatment outcome, etc.

Yes, we need attitudinal change in all facets of life.

In the West you will find a medic that has won many scientific accolades/awards, appears on TV to present medical programs but still does his routine clinical & teaching work in hospital. No fuss, no ego stuff. Despite being respected internationally in his field & financially very buoyant.

We will get there. Eventually.
Ego is the most important thing to Nigerians.
Money is secondary.
They pursue money just to feed their ego.
Why do you think they pursue education just for the title?
Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barak and Michelle Obama are all attorneys. But people concentrate on their works for humanity than their profession as lawyers. If they were to be Nigerians, if you miss the appendages to their names, all hell will break loose.

Nigerians are not serious people. They excel abroad because they have oyibo supervisors that don't have any room for their shenanigans. Give the same Nigerian a position of authority in Nigeria and his Nigerianness rears its ugly head. It is still centered on dearth of oversight.

Health › Re: Isha Sesay, CNN Journalist Commends Nigerian Doctors And Nurses by InvertedHammer: 2:15am On Jul 02, 2017
AreaFada2:
I believe that environment and culture matter in anything. Nigerian professionals in IT, healthcare, engineering, education and more do great abroad.

Why do Nigerian doctors become very good & blend into the advanced medical system in the West? Because it is more satisfying if you can do your job better and make a difference. Given the tools: training, encouragement, funding, impeccable facilities, etc.

Medical care is a very expensive. But Nigeria is investing too little in it. Therefore moral & quality suffer.

UK that is one-third of Nigerian population, Healthcare budget is £133.1 billion , well over N61 trillion Naira or over 8 times Nigeria's total federal budget.

Medical profession in Nigeria is very challenging and further training is insufficient.

Frustration is what you see manifest in Nigerian doctors at home. Coming across as rude, uncaring, etc.

Sure doctors can do better. Everyone needs to accept that patients/their loved ones are not responsible for the problems of funding that we have.
/
If you like pay Nigerian doctors and nurses a billion naira per month, the attitude will be the same or even worse because they will all turn to "oga and madam" overnight. Everything comes down to the nonchalant attitude of Nigerians to every thing in life. They do better abroad bc the environment does not permit incompetence and could be very unforgiving.

It boils down to lack of supervisory oversight and a culture of ineptitude that prevail in Nigeria.

JahsPet:
huh good evening nairanlanders.

I recently paid my fiancée an hagast visit where she works only to discover that this girl has been occupying an apartment with a single door lobby as entry and exit comprising only two rooms with a male senior colleague.

I know many of us especially ladies will argue it doesnt matter. But I have since then been processing all her past suspicious actions , namely: she seldom answer her phone if i call in evenings (between 7 - 2am usually). At 2am she usually calls back that she saw my calls but she was asleep.

Ater that visit i began putting video calls though, she ignores mostly.

I told her she must look for a roommate and she has since then been adamant about it.

I love her and I have had many terrible dreams about her cheating long before I visited the place (God bears me witness) but i couldn't just relate the nightmares to her.

I'm at the verge of breaking up with her, but what if shes innocenthuh This is why I need to compare various stand points.
Your problem is bigger than I can imagine.

Even if you see them going at it, you will still believe that they are merely wrestling bc you are a confirmed idiot. Sorry for the harsh word. I don't know how else to get it into your thick skull. What manner of fiancee!? What is wrong with you!?
