anyway all jokes aside. something fishy is going on in that region and it does not involve nigerians. nigerians are not as sophisticated and diabolical to be making bombs and detonating bombs. this is highly un-nigerian.
I am not convinced either.  Is it a coincidence that right when the US took an interest in scaring everyone about the dangers of Boko Haram is when the "bombings" got more prevalent and sophisticated, as in effective and more deadly with a lot more casualties?

Two things that is unresolved for me:
1) The Boko boys always said their fight was with the government, so why would they detonate bombs at churches?  The last big one they claimed, was at the UN.
2) I have not seen conclusive evidence where a Boko spokesperson took credit for the the bomb at the churches.  The newspapers were talking in generalities, as far as I could tell.  Also, faster than you can say Boko what? the coverage was on fast track on CNN - proclaiming that a Nigerian Al Qaeda outfit is terrorising the country.  It's as if they have a script from the state department.

hmmm.  When they start broadcasting their propaganda news briefs live from a Naija location (à la Libya), I'll really get worried.

I find it really unbelievable the way igbos continue to delude themselves over this supposed affinity they think they have with the Zionist state of Israel.

If the Israelis were serious about helping the igbos during the nigeria/biafra civil war why didnt they provide arms and training to biafran troops like they did with the south african aparthied govt?

Not only did they assist the white racists of south africa in murdering and subjugating the rightful owners of the country they even helped them develop a nuclear programme (although this was said to have been dismantled in 1989, shortly before Mandela's release) but the point is the Israelis went all out to assist their fellow racists in the subjugation of the majority black population

what do you Zionist apologists think of that?  How come Israel has never helped any black run african country to develop  nuclear capability? You guys are beyond delusional if you think these racist zionists give a damn about you.

Keep deceiving yourselves that Israel backed you during the civil war - how is it that a nation like Israel would back Biafra without arms or training?

when china backed vietnam it provided them with heavy arms and military training, the same with china's backing of North Korea, how then is it that when it came to biafra they only gave you backing without arms?

You people need to wake up and stop deceiving yourselves.

Look at Israel's current track record in Congo:
The history of Congo/Zaire is heat-breaking.  Very hard to come to terms with the USA/Belgium murder of Patrice Lumumba.  Great man!

About the Biafrans' affinity for Israel, I think you just have to see it from the point of view of that old saying, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."  Unfortunately groups will always go to whoever will give them succour whether that "friend" is also friend with some shady characters.  You know that Turkey has been working with Israel for their mutual benefit for a long time.  Pathetic Turkey were so desperate to be accepted into NATO and were willing to stifle criticism so long as Israel would not oppose their nomination.  We learned a little more about this in early 2009 when The Turkish Prime Minister, afraid for his job after internal wranglings came out and pretended to take a stance against Israel during the 2008-2009 Israeli military use of banned chemical weapons and systemic killing is Palestinian civilians in Gaza.  Did the USA or any of the other "top democracies" stop them?  Where's the War Crimes tribunal when you need it? International law, my arse!  Each of the countries powerful enough to put a stop to and challenge any wrongdoing do not do so based on what they will benefit.

Biafrans want independence from Nigeria and they will make strange and unusual friends to get it.

Most of you people are slaves and self haters.  Do you know your history? For the past 500 years, what have the Israelis done for Africa? What has the Europeans done for the past 500 years? Do you know your history? Do you know how international politics work?

In order for America to remain dominant, it must have a great military that kills many people to steal oil and other resources. That is why they will go to war with a country overnight like they did Libya. They will use political and economic imperialism in order to make things happen.

Political imperialism is controlling the politicians so they serve their interests.  Economic imperialism is using the IMF, World Bank, and WTO in order to serve their interests.  They also use bait like foreign aid in order to lure presidents. If these don't work then they kill over overthrow the government. If this doesn't work then they attack the country, like Libya, Iraq, or Afghanistan.

Most of Africa has political or economic imperialism.  Only Zimbabwe doesn't.  But there are economic sanctions on that country. The SOuth American continent rose up to imperialism with leaders like Evo Morales, Hugo Chavez and Correa of Ecuador.  South America is sick of being exploited.  Middle Easterns had revolutions and Egyptians are dying right now for a good governance. The west doesn't have anywhere else to go to but Africa since the leaders are easy to manipulate. America LOVES goodluck, he votes in favor of them all the time.  Like in Libya and for Gbagbo. You need to understand that foreign imperialism is holding Nigeria back the most.   But in Nigeria shouldn't be this corrrupt.  That is why in the state level, there isn't as much corruption.  That is why there should be a political and economic reform in Nigeria. But how many NIgerians are ready to die?

Cap28 is telling the truth. You people need to understand how the west works.  CHarles taylor escaped a maximum security prison in Plymouth in massachusetts.  THen he later became the president of Liberia. How does that happen without American influence. Then Liberia had a bad war.Why let that happen? Who supplied the money for war? Those same people are doing bad things in Nigeria right now. They are also causing problems in Syria. I know you people love watching CNN and FOX News but why did it take them so long to cover the Occupy Movement? Why did they lie so much during the war in Libya? Why when they covered the famine in Somalia, they didn't talk about how America was at war with Somalia? How often do they cover the war in Congo? The 4th branch of the government is the mainstream MEDIA.  They don't just control Afrians, they control many Americans as well. THis is why you guys are controlled so much.
Igbo2011, You make too much sense.  Please stop.  wink

Yes.  Buhari would be eminently better!  Poor Jonathan is a puppet on a string.  There's no crystal ball to accurately predict outcome of events, but it is very safe to say that, a man in control like Buhari would be able to get the respect of those he leads, make decisons and be able to stick by them.  Poor Goodluck has to check with OBJ before, and Hilary Clinton after, he makes a "decision."

Carl1880:
I dunno about you guys,

I come a single father and just me home. I had a crush on this girl, as far back as i can remember. when i turned 11 she was 10, i asked her to be my girl. Being innocent kids she agreed, a year later we were Being Intimate in her mom's house.

Now we were 15 & 14, a dreadful day we returned from school went in her bedroom and Were Intimate. Well my mistake was after sex i should have left but fell a sleep, that same evening her mom caught us in her bed, buck Bottom Unclad, a sleep.

OMFG was she mad, she called my dad and asked him to pick me up and told him what had happen. This was the first time my dad even knew i had a girlfriend. he came to her house grabbed me by the ear and got royally pissed off. while i sat in the car he went inside to talk to her mom,  to this day i have no clue what was said.

After that day my relationship with this girl was either in school or through her friends taking her to the mall. we would sneak in the mall's restroom and Be Intimate.

Six months had passed like this and one day in the mall i caught my dad and her mom walking around holding hands. I was shocked!!! they didn't see me so i ran back to my girlfriend's and told her what i saw. we never confronted our parents. And let the day,  and months pass cause when our parents were out we were together,  we were kids we didn't know any better.

I still remember that day my dad took me to my girlfriend's house and after a very very quiet dinner. they told us they were getting married!!!
They never knew that me and my girlfriend were still Being Intimate and were in love. Ohh we argued with our parents but to no avail. we never told them about us though, fear i guess.

Four months later they got married and started living at our house.

Me and my girlfriend/step sister, we stopped Being Intimate, and we both fell in a state of confused depression. we weren't sure how to handle this.

Almost a year had passed and we had finally started being normal around each other, going to school, got new girl friend and she a boy friend.

Ahh!! i remember a fine summer day it was. Sun was shinning, no clouds in the sky, every now and then a cool breeze will follow, birds singing. I was in the pool having a relaxing "float" and my step sister joined me.

We were talking in general about school, boys, girls, friends, etc,  then we finally talked about us, what we had what we were doing back then,  during this she would say something pause look at me i would say something pause and look at her. We got real uncomfortable, she jumped of her float and ran back in the den saying that she had to go to the bathroom. she had no idea i followed her. I told her that we should talk about it so that we aren't so uncomfortable alone around each other, then she turned around and told me that she still thinks about us, she misses the intimacy we shared and she still loves me.

During my shocked stare she reached over and kissed me, i had many many many emotions running through me, but what conquered all was the feeling of relieve and i just grabbed her and kissed her like finding a long lost love returned. we Were Intimate in the den and it was good, really good. manly cause we took our time in Being Intimate not rush it. we Were Intimate all through high school.

we both got accepted into the same college far away from our home. we both live together and love each other. we have talked about marriage, kids, a family.

we both have coped with our situation by saying that our parents were selfish in not considering that the first time they met we were caught Being Intimate.

So by your def. we don't care if people call us Inbreeding or whatever,  we are not blood related,  never have been.
You are not from any tribe in Nigeria.  Ewo!  Taboo.  Deviancy.  Lord have mercy.

maclatunji:
It is obvious that there are three knds of people that visit this section, they are:

Category 1: Those who come here to share information and knowledge with their fellow Muslims and those who are genuinely interested in finding out more about Islam.

Category 2: Those who come here to ask genuine questions and learn more about Islam.

Category 3: Those who come here with a well thought-out and detailed agenda.

Now, the only group we can do without are Category 3. The people with the responsibility of dealing effectively with them  are the moderators.
How do we minimise the malaise of Category 3?
A) In all honesty, I see your Category 3 as a veiled reference to LagosShia.  I apologise if I am wrong, and appreciate it if you would give example(s) of those who fit this category.  After all, if you really want to deal with the issue, you might as well start getting real - time to be honest, upfront and candid.

B) In which of those three categories would you place Anti-Islamic Propagandists like Frosbel, Aloy-Emeka, Toba (to a lesser extent), etc. who run rampant unchecked in this section?  Or is that a 4th category?

C) Do you find LagosShia to be more offensive and more the "group we can do without" than those who despise Muslims and boldly say such, in this section, repeatedly openly and with impunity?

Thanks.

Actually, the SunNews article concluded that the two accused, whose full names were not published, were released on bail, and the case was later thrown of court because the original complainant did not show up for the hearing/trial.

So if they are indeed criminals, they may still be at it, albeit at a different location since their "Maroko" address was published in the article.

His looks, dressing, even that bump on his nose makes me wonder if his mom is Naija.

Dodo and egg,   i.e fried Plantain with fried egg.
If you add some corned beef to that egg. . . bellissimo  tongue tongue tongue

Some people prefer beans mixed with plantain while some fried plantain diced in fried rice/jollof rice.
You must be Yoruba/Lagosian, cos all the foods you're listing are the ones I eat when I'm back home.  I actually made plantain this week, something I don't do often.

Detongue:
Banga Soup and starch
I couldn't bring myself to try that starch thing.  I went to the home of a Naija (Urhobo?) friend here and she was making it.  Does anyone know why and when people started eating that?  Also, is it a special kind of starch or the same one we use to stiffen our school uniform in the old days?  If it's traditional, what is the African name?  I think the word "starch" is what is off-putting to me.  No offense.

LagosShia,

Waleikum Salaam.

Thank you for your reply.  I understand you a little better now.  But in my earlier comment while attempting to encourage you and Vedaxcool to agree to disagree, I only meant that most people do stay within the faith where they were raised, and it wouldn't make any difference how much they're castigated for what they believe.  Of course I spoke in generalities since I didn't know you personally or your circumstance.  Yes, there are many people crossing over from one denomination to the other (in all the religions) and one "faith" to another.  But it is not realistic to expect a mass conversion - overnight, like a whole community to switch to your beliefs - overnight.  For example, most of Iran is Shia.  Does anyone expect millions of people to switch to Sunni.  Or most of Egypt is Sunni - they will not be switching any time soon.  That is why I don't care for acrimonious exchanges or a labeling of one group simply because you believe differently.  Debate is good, but to keep rehashing why one group of people are "apostates" doesn't resolve anything.  Especially since there are more unifying issues than differences.  I would never tell anyone to hide what they believe, of course.  If you don't believe in an idea or a way of life, be strong in stating it.  No censorship or pretending.

About your own self-education, leading to your change, yes, I understand what you're saying.  I never meant to say that people should follow blindly their forebears.  Only that most people, families, cultures, groups generally practice their traditions and religion with little changes in the immediate.

You can always make a conscientious change.  For example, one personal aspect I've posted a couple of times in the past is that, I myself, although raised very conservatively in Lagos, was not raised in a strongly Muslim practising way.  At least, from the point of view of a strong adherence to the Quran and Hadiths.  One of my favourite memories is of the short time I spent in Ile Ikewu, thanks to my grandfather.  So, I often make an attempt to practice the way that I admire.  The funny thing is, I was on the phone with my Dad, and mentioned to him, I was starting to do the 5 daily prayers regularly.  His response was: I do not think there ever has been a day in my life when I prayed 5 times a day.  lol.  The next day I got a call from my mom asking me who are all these Muslim friends you made in America.  It was right around the time of the Naija Muttalib boy.  lmao.  So observing Salah is now the same as being a fanatic?  Imagine if I added the hijab to that.  lol.  Yes, whether we want to admit it or not, we have a class of Nigerians, especially amongst some Yoruba Muslims, who think religion should be in moderation and would rather let the Alfa read the Quran while we pay them money to pray for us.  (There's a thread where Araboy mentioned something similar - conversions to Born Agains - and someone I quite respect was arguing that this is not so.)  So, I am not a proponent of believing 100% what your parents believed.  I only stated a statistic of why most people follow the religion they do. smiley

I don't know if we can resolve Vedaxcool and your ongoing issues.  But thanks for responding.  I added a little personal detail, because I felt it was needed after the personal info you shared, and since I have also challenged Vedaxcool to an extent.

Salaam.
