I have to agree with AljHarem: Gbawe is too good for this.  Why stoop to common people's level?

*Joke Alert*

I was actually going to come in here and make fun of how Southerners (Yoruba, Igbos, and all the ones in-between) are always so mouthy.  They're forever bragging about how tough they are.  But, should a car backfire, both of them will beat the hell out of there.  The Igbo boys will do the 100 meter dash in 2 seconds, knocking down everything in their path - old people, young maidens, and puppies.  The Yoruba OPC boys will run into the bush, crouching down, stroking their juju and doing their incantations that'll make them invisible to enemy eyes.

grin   grin   grin

The Northerners will do the real fighting, no bragging, no threats, and no advance press release.

PoliticsRe: How Fear Of Japan Diminished Biafra – Nwokedi by isalegan2: 3:20pm On Dec 09, 2011
What a terribly disingenuous and duplicitous individual this Nwokedi is!

I read the article with an open mind, interested only in what the title promised, a comparison between Japan and Biafra.  But, instead came away with firm and conclusive evidence about the negative character of the subject, former Justice Nwokedi.

The interviewer did a superior job of drawing him out so he could convict himself with his own words.  Of course, he was very careful, being a lawyer and a accomplished jurist.  But, for those who pay attention and read his words carefully, it is right there to see.  A thoroughly unscrupulous individual.

INTERVIEWER asks, "How would you describe human rights under Abacha, Obasanjo and now?"

NWOKEDI plays coy, "I have not participated in national activities for quite sometimes now and so I leave comment on that to those in the system."

Was that the question?  Is it only people who were in government or participating in politics who knew how repressive and violative Abacha's regime was?  Was he in a coma at the time?  Very dishonest and slick guy.

INTERVIEWER persists, "As Chairman, National Human Rights Commissioner that you pioneered, you were alleged to have turned your eyes to the other side while the Head of State, General Sani Abacha was busy abusing the rights of many. What is your take on that?"

A big justice like Nwokedi probably never expected a mere reporter would have the balls to call him a corrupt soulless bastard to his face?  What kind of a "Human Rights Pioneer" would turn his eyes to the abuse of the populace?  Exactly!

The slick lawyer demurs, utilizing the easiest delaying tactic (while he thinks up a suitable LIE, oops, I mean, lawyerly response: "Do you have one example to show? Just produce one example of one person, whose rights was being abused by the Head of State and I turned my eyes away from it. Then I will be able to give my comment. As far I am concerned, I am hearing this from you for the first time and so I am not aware of that during my time."

Does anyone really believe he just heard that for the first time?  Maybe no one had the nerve to confront him while he was serving Abacha ("during my time"wink, but he would have been confronted, heard and read about it numerous times since then.  I can just imagine the interviewer struggling to hide the contempt from registering on his face.  What a shameless Supreme Court "Justice."

Lawyers are very good at parsing, playing word games.  So, "On his own side, General Abacha invited me and asked what I needed and I said nothing. Abacha wanted to give me oil well but for what reason should I sell my conscience for the good of this world which was going to be temporary?"

Shouldn't the fact that a "Head of State" is ready to gift you oil wells and probably more tell you this is not someone with whom you should work?  He refused oil wells, huh?  What did he settle for?  This man stinks to high heaven.  People can make charges against you, but it is your own words that will convict you.  The man is dirty.

More eye-opening remarks:

INTERVIEWER: "You went straight to the Supreme Court, skipping the Court of Appeal?

NWOKEDI: "As a matter of fact, when I was told to go to the Supreme Court,[b] I protested but they said; 'look, man, we have left you here because Anambra area was very notorious for justice but now we want to show the world; we have seen the appeals and we have seen the sort of work you have done and so we are satisfied that you should be there.' That was how I went to Supreme Court."

"It didn't matter to me who you were,. Even whether you were my mother or my father, I would deliver my judgment. Whether you were related to me or you were a friend or enemy, it didn't mean anything to me. I delivered my judgments, straight and clear."

Another incredible statement.  Even the most honest and most conscientious jurists know you cannot be impartial when your family or friends are in trouble.  That is why you are obliged to RECUSE yourself from the case!

The man protests too much, with smoke coming out of his ears.  And where there is smoke there is fire.

It is very unfortunate that instead of Christian European countries to support Biafra, they were busy fearing a possible "Japan" in Africa.
Japan is about 90% Non-Christian, while Biafra was 90% Christian. So how are they similar?
Whatever happened to Christian brotherhood.
cry cry[/quote]I quite like your passion and convictions, whether or not we share viewpoints.

But, the above tearful comment is shockingly naive on your part.

Your Christian beliefs don't make you or anyone else any different from any other "NIGGER" in the eyes of "Europeans."  You can be more catholic than the pope, more pious than Paul, you are still a "nigger" trying to kill another worthless "nigger" in oyinbo man's eyes.  The only deciding factor to them on whom to support when you all start killing and maiming each other is which one of those ignorant coons can we control better?  which ones have the oil, the gold, the diamond, the slaves.  After 200 years of enslavement of African in America, who also had converted to their oppressors' religious beliefs, did that earn them their freedom?  From generation to generation they were human chattel.  Or did you think you being a Christian and accepting the "Europeans" beliefs automatically earns you compassion and mercy?  Do you know that the Portuguese slavers "baptised" kidnapped Africans before they put them on slave ships and subjected them to the trauma of the middle passage?

This is not an attack against your dream to see the day when Biafra can be actualised.   As for me, I'd prefer it if all Africans think continentally and not regionally, but that is your prerogative.   I have nothing against your goals, just study history well and plan accordingly.

This is a very good video I pulled from GenBuhari's thread, https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-693700.0.html.  I think it is appropo.  It is in many parts, but I have watched only this so far.  Everyone - Nigerians, Biafrans and all the other battle-ready Africans - should watch and learn.

Wow! Very personal but meaningful comment, except for the bolded.  No offense meant, but no child can make such a declarative statement about her father, since she is not his wife.

Your church told you to list the things that your father did to you?
I once read (from an article about Tom Cruise's ex) that Scientologists ask for a lot of personal information about all the bad things their new members may have done.  I don't know if it includes what was done to them by others.  If the poster is willing, maybe he'll share the name of the church.

@Poster,
I'm sorry your father treated you like that.  Hopefully, it makes you determined not to treat others, including your own children, especially grown sons, like that.  Good luck to you.

You know you have a valid point. However, I think you should re-consider your stance in regard to this section. Probably, if you feel you can do a better job of moderating this section you could take the job. It is not easy to manage people that want to give spam-bots a good run for their money.

I am not very eloquent at the moment but what I am saying is that you should engage the system and not condemn it in its entirety.
You're wasting your breath, brother.

I once brought up in another thread the disgraceful condition of the section and the waning participation of Muslim posters as a result.  One of your moderators then responded that the reason is because some Muslim posters make other Muslims feel bad abut themselves.  I mean, SERIOUSLY?!  That does not deserve a response, IMHO. G'day.

So, if I had to list my top ten posters on Politics/Culture. I would include AndreUweh, despite his multiple personality and outrageous behaviour on occasion.  So, I regret to have to rain some blows on him now, but he brought it on himself.  undecided

Andre Uweh:
The chap does only copy and paste about Biafra. Lacks his own ideas and has insulted many nairalanders this year without the hammer hitting him.
Wrong choice.
shocked   shocked   shocked   huh

A "copy and paste" message can be easily proved or disproved.

Andre, put your Google where your loudmouth is: type in a sentence/paragraph of Katsumoto's posts and see if it comes up in a search, word for word.  (Sourced quotes or material obviously do not qualify.)

If you make any more BASELESS CHARGES simply to discredit an opponent, I propose that your candidate should lose a point.  Is that what you want?  Do you really want to go there, bro?

Andre Uweh:
The only time the chap rears his head is when he wants to play tribal politics exclusively on Biafran/Nigerian crisis. Nevertheless, his posts are always one sided.
He doesn't get banned despite all the insults he dishes out to Fstranger and others who opposes his views. Beaf would have been banned several times with those same insults.
Beaf has been the number one poster in this section prior to April elections and post elections.
Onlytruth, has done better than all except beaf.
Others are Dede1, Eziachi, Chyz, Houvest, Obiagu1 and Sagamite.
You're simply grasping at straws.  Clawing at desperate hope.  Like a drowning man, you're trying to drag others down with you.

What sort of insult has Katsumoto thrown?  And what sort of extreme insults do posters get banned for?  You should know!  Seriously, man, YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!

I haven't seen an active campaign with charges and counterattacks in these annual proceedings yet, but if we wanna do it that way this year, let's go there! But, "come with facts."

You can come back at me with your response.  As Katsumoto's original nominator, I am ready.  Be warned that if you engage in the kind of obscene and vulgar name-calling you do with Ileke (when she provokes you grin), I will take your head off!  angry cool

If you're offended by AndreUweh's baseless and calumnious attack on another poster, please register your displeasure by showing AndreUweh, this is not the way we conduct polls in this Nairaland.  He knows the charges are false, but that didn't stop him.  He didn't let truth get in the way of his dirty campaign. shocked
