This has certainly backfired.  cheesy No worries, Alhaji.  Naija will not separate.  You will get frustrated and you will get over it, okay?  BTW, what happened to at least 2 threads overnight?  Where is the thread where I translated Becomerich's Yoruba post for you? You been fighting Ola Edo?  Take it easy.  smiley

Awesome.  I was asking people at home about this, the rumour that even those abroad have heard that Tinubu might stand in Fashola's way.  Smart move to get the endorsement out of the way already.  smiley smiley smiley

RomanceRe: She Can't Read Nor Write: What Should I Do? by isalegan2: 7:22pm On Jan 04, 2011
kaysinger:
I met this interesting and beautiful lady and we started dating only for me to discover she can't read nor write. When we met I couldn't detect these flaws as she spoke good English. We had gone far into the relationship and already planning marriage when she dropped the bombshell on me. Now I'm in a dilemma. I'm a Christian and a Masters degree holder. What should i do. Please kindly advice me putting yourselves in my predicament. Thanks
What predicament?  She can't read or write.  So what?  Do you read some of the posts from the "literati" right here on NairaLand?

If that's your only concern, you'd be insane to not marry her.  I'm sure you're not perfect either!  Sorry to come off harsh. embarassed  No offense.  I keep losing my way and ending up in the romance section.  smiley

Once you're married, she'll have to time to setup your home, and have the safety and security and time to immerse herself in some correspondence or online courses to sharpen her reading and writing skills.  Then she can enroll in school (to learn a course that interests her) with other adults.

No private tutor!  Unless it's a woman.

BTW, an older relative who had no formal education, and could barely read nor write nevertheless turned out to be a huge success financially and personally.  Very famous in parts of Nigeria.  Your wife could end up a rich businesswoman.  Don't be a fool.

Lagosboy:
Sister, I am a lagosman to the core my self I only started to post against GEJ here on NL probably in the last week as i have kept silent all the while evaluating this guy. The last straw for me was his statement of asking us to pray so that terrorist should confess is a big shame. The sharing of $1 billion on new years eve , the leaked GEJ campaign strategy detailing how Inec officials would be bribed and how policemen would be taken to Ghana to compromise them before the elections.

GEJ seems not to have a clue, PDP is a disaster we need a change and probably Buhari, Ribadu or Utomi would be the alternative but not PDP and definately not GEG my sister.

He cant do anything to get my support because i have come to the conclusion he doesnt have the qualities to be a leader and that is why the SNG that suppported him to be president have lost all faith in him.
Thank you, brother.  You're on the ground, so I know you are more in tune with day-to-day events and the ebb and flow of people's sentiments.

I wasn't happy to hear about the ongoing security cooperation with outsiders but I know that didn't start didn't start with Goodluck.

My mom says she likes him.  My sibs are lukewarm.  I was going to talk to my dad about this in a couple of days. He is a current affairs and political news junkie.  I imagine he'll share your views.

Oh, LagosBoy, how're you holding up?  And the family?  Condolences on your dad, ok.

Because we have a celeberated fool as president who does not know the basics of development neither does he understand the simple laws of economics. His skills are best suited for the zoo to manage animals as that is what his qualifications are suited for!
Brother,
What is your problem with the lucky man?  My people at home (Lagos) are starting to look at him independent of the PDP and evaluating him on his own merits.
I'd like to know what he can do to get your support.  Just curious.

^u are all in their ways so i guess your born, breed and grow up there or. . .
It's important to note that most African people in America live by a strict code of conduct.  Not everyone lives a wanton lifestyle.  There are lots of communities and individuals who maintain a virtuous lifestyle, regardless of what you see in movies and television about American values in general.  Even some Americans live like this.  Just use NL posters as an example.  I'm sure you see lots of posters who reside abroad who do not display whatever you think is "their way."
