Jonathan's maintained his equilibrium despite everything coming at him from all directions. Who says the man's not presidential? I wouldn't write him off. |
cap28:::shrug:: Meh. Check this out: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=225044.msg7453827#msg7453827 Is 2011 gonna be a good year? Look into your crystal ball, ya gypsy! ![]() |
Any development on this? What have you heard? Thanks. |
I think PhysicsEd was also banned. Take it easy and don't get banned again. |
fstrangest:So I'm a fundamentalist because I don't want to see any Nigerian violated by invading petroleum-worshipping imperialists streaming into my country under the guise of world policing? Anyway, you're young yet. You'll one day learn who your real enemies are. I see evil in what is evil. Regardless of the source. ![]() |
MandingoII:You hit the nail right on the head, other than the bolded. She didn't have any "wealth." The article indicates she is employed as a "care worker." which would mean, nursing assistant type low paying job. The stereotype fits. Despite being a low class brit, she still didn't want the black guy coming to England where her children would know what she's been up to. And what in the world kind of doggone tourist attraction is there in Gambia? No offense to the Gambians. Other than desperate Hot crackers looking to get their groove back? The woman is full of stories. She claimed they went out for drinks and got together straight away, then she said the guy doesn't drink and that's one of the reasons she found him to be a serious person she could marry. Utter nonsense. cap28:The bride in the traditional outfit really doesn't look that bad. The groom looks like he's in his early thirties and the wife looks like she is in her late thirties. White women really are not fortunate when it comes to aging well. Unless they undergo cosmetic surgery, they start looking old in their early thirties, and sooner if they were sun-worshippers. Also, she doesn't appear to have a lot of makeup on. The truly odd thing in their pictures is the fact she rests her hands on the male relatives' knees. . . Happy new year, you. ![]() |
Sweet T:Very sad development indeed. From frypan to fire. Trusting the evil empire like we were born yesterday. Of course, if Nigeria security forces can work with the Israeli Mossad, we shouldn't be too shocked they are willing to sell us out to be recolonised, this time by the most heartless child-ra.p.ing assassinating bunch of invaders out there. They will do worse to us than they did to the Iraqis. Abu Ghraib will sound like a picnic when they're done with us. I am so disgusted! Once consolation, they probably planned the whole bombing in the first place. So, it shouldn't take them long to announce the makeup of the bomb. An arrest is another matter. |
This is great. Thank you. Salaam. |
I bought that "Graceland" book a few years ago, but didn't have time to finish it. The book cover is unforgettable - a pre-adolescent boy smoking a cigarette. |
Calm down. Don't be so full of yourself. I responded only to your doubt about how opinion (in the medical community) of homosexuality has changed from "mental illness" etc. I don't have the time to write a book about it. I can't read your whole rant either. Not right now. sheesh. eta: My stance remains, leaving things as is, and putting the burden on those who want to change the status quo to put forth their evidence why the laws should be changed. Hope you can live with that. That's all. |
SEFAGO:I'm not going to "compare and contrast" race with sexual preference and behaviour. ![]() I won't belabour the issue, but the reason for change in classification of homosexuality from a mental illness / psychiatric disorder? Succinctly, "DSM-3." http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=dsm-iii+homosexuality&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart The diagnostic status of homosexuality in DSM-III: a reformulation of the issues, RL Spitzer In 1973 homosexuality per se was removed from the DSM-II classification of mental disorders and replaced by the category Sexual Orientation Disturbance. This represented a compromise between the view that preferential homosexuality is invariably a mental disorder and the view that it is merely a normal sexual variant. While the 1973 DSM-II controversy was highly public, more recently a related but less public controversy involved what became the DSM-III category of Ego-dystonic Homosexuality. The author presents the DSM-III controversy and a reformulation of the issues involved in the diagnostic status of homosexuality. He argues that what is at issue is a value judgment about heterosexuality, rather than a factual dispute about homosexuality. http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/abstract/138/2/210/ http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=ie7&q=deign&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7TSNA_enUS396US396#sclient=psy&hl=en&safe=active&rls=com.microsoft:en-us%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7TSNA_enUS396US396&q=dsm-iii+homosexuality+&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=7b989c6c17f79c85 |

Broda Becomrich, Happy New Year O. You fought the good fight in 2010, but Yorubas won't be allowed to join Benin Republic. Is this your new message for 2011? |
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/15542-barristers-remains-buried-in-lagos Barrister’s remains buried in Lagos Nigerian Tribune Written by Shola Adekola Friday, 31 December 2010 THE remains of the Fuji music icon, Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Balogun, popularly known as Barrister, who died in London two weeks ago, at the age of 62 years, was committed to mother earth at about 10.00 p.m on Thursday. His body was flown into the country through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday. By 2.00 p.m on Thursday, the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport had been besieged by his fans, to receive the corpse. The remains was flown into the country aboard an Air France aircraft, which touched down at the airport around 8.00 p.m. The corpse was, however, brought out through the cargo side of the airport into a waiting ambulance by 9.00 p.m. |

SEFAGO:You're reaching. The bolded is outrageous, and you don't really believe it. If there is "nothing wrong" with homosexuality, why do most of the famous homosexuals in countries where it is decriminalized (unlike our own where we are too backward to know what is good for us) stay in the closet and swear up and down how much they love the babes? Why is it that if you meet 3 lesbians in the USA, at least 2 of them had unresolved childhood sexual trauma? Why is it that homosexuality up until recently was considered a psychological disorder by medical practioners in most of the "developed world"? Also, the post shows conclusive evidence that Safego and Sagamite are not the same poster. I'm done with this. I didn't plan on ringing in my new year discussing deviant behavior. Happy New Year to you all, even the gay ones. ![]() |
I'm half-serious. Like, homosexuals don't negatively affect my life in any way. Why should I be so vehemently opposed to something that doesn't have any impact on my life? I understand that for a lot of people, the "ick" factor is important. But I'm also not into obese girls (for example) and find them icky. Does that mean nobody should be permitted to date obese girls? ![]() I'm pretty live-and-let live about life, overall. I will only oppose you and your lifestyle if it: a) Reduces my own quality of life b) Violates fundamental human rights Homosexuality doesn't do either of those things, so I'm not much concerned about it.
All right. I respect your opinion. Not really. But,like I said, I will take this challenge seriously when there looks like a serious inroad is being made into legitimizing sodomy in Nigeria. No fear. Thanks for the congrats. Name-change was due to me being locked out of the other account after an email address change (I suspect Seun's forum system is slightly buggy. . .) Happy new year to you too!Oh, I understand now. ]EDIT: typoshahahaha. I was gonna ask why you care if she's fat or thin before you'll have a "debate" with her. That'll mean we (female posters) will be required to submit our picture before you'll deign to respond to us. Count me out! ![]() |
Homosexuality doesn't affect the life of heterosexuals in any real way. If anything, more gay dudes = less competition for beautiful women!
I know you're just kidding. At least I hope so. Congratulations on winning politics sextion poster 2010. Dunno why the name change. Happy new year in advance!udennaa:
I'm sure the wild animals would not accommodate them if we send the to the wild forest. we can't sacrifice sanity for the sake of some pervs
All good points. But I don't even feel the pressure to defend why homosexuality is and should remain a crime in Nigeria or anywhere else. It is those who wish to change the status quo who should put forth their reasons why the law should be changed. They will not be able to convince a majority of the preople. I do not understand why some Africans think it is advancement to copy anything the oyinbos do. It is not advancement to legitimize perversion. Simple. |
fstrangest: What?!You are not serious. I'm not responding to you anymore. |
fstrangest:No. I was asking the other guy though, since he generalized all Nigerians. Did I offend you in some way? Calm down. |
Idehn:Are you a homosexual? |
hehehe tpia's blushing. alhj harem, you're too popular. i think you have to apologize to me for yelling at me when i was only trying to help you correct your signature so mukina can unban you. also harem is a strange name. means "forbidden." |
honeric01:I just typed a long message to you, but NL timed me out. Here's a summary: Question about gender of Oduduwa: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-207887.32.html. Recommended books: Robert Smith's Kingdoms of the Yoruba, 1969. Samuel Johnson's History of the Yorubas. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=564090.msg7299137#msg7299137 I advice utilizing books on Google or elsewhere, more than anything else, if you can't get your hands on the actual books. Internet articles less so. I hope your education is not being derailed. Am just trying to help - pointing out where I have found info. Lots more references out there. . . |
I read that on Punch website yesterday. Very weird. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20101229226912 |

When I have the opportunity, I will post more. Maybe others will do the same. I'll see if there's already a thread that we can simply update periodically as we locate more data, articles, books, etc., we want to share. It'll be good if we can do this for other groups in Nigeria (or Africa) so no one is left out. ![]() |
The site is great. They have videos too. They have everything. I'm listening to / watching a lecture about Caliph Umar. http://kalamullah.com/videos.html |
Becomrich, That picture you posted of the guys in red hats with cutlass? Where was that? Are they South Africans? |
xterra2:I'm sorry, man. I really wanted to watch it again and transcribe or summarize for you, but it was just so unpleasant the first time around. I remember the SR guy Sowore sounds really unprofessional. He was antagonistic. Fashola was very cordial and even wrote notes as SR guy was asking him a litany of questions. He didn't like Fashola's answer or something and made a petty and rude comment. After Fashola completed the press conference, and had stepped off the stage, as he walked away with his entourage, the SR guy made another petty comment to him. I don't want to start the debate all over again. People really got their nickers in a twist the first time around. Probably, me included. ![]() I just feel for you cos you said your internet is slow. I think someone earlier posted the script of the encounter. Maybe try thatt guy's newspaper website. |
Had that problem once, its easy but it'll cost you a bit. Avoid pills and just take natural stuff with fat and cholesterol (mind you, its not good for your health). E.G eggs. FRY not boil 5 eggs a day with bread for 90 days, drink malt often (don't mix them). Stay indoors and eat normally food rations no need to over feed, you'll just increase your stomach. Hope you come back to thank me.
Oh My Land! 5 eggs! A day! Fried! For 90 days! Stay indoors too? Surely you jest. I would recommend that to someone if I had life insurance on them and was about to go to debtors' prison. But carry on. ![]() |
