Tesiday: @Ishmael, both male and female of these two religion do get married. The point is more often than not, muslim ladies who married christians do change, most of the time. While most of the christians who marry muslims don't, they still continue going to church. Most don't,eve if they marry an Imam or Emir,go to Makkah 10 times or whatever, more often than not, they won't change.
I can agree to some extent with ur explanation.

Katsumoto: But you made an assertion. Whats do you have to support the assemption you are making, whether true or false?
what assertion did i make? I only said the truth about what i see in Lagos daily. I don't need any stats for that. And if any of u has any stats to use in proving me wrong pls provide the stats. No insults pls.

You see how dumb and foolish you sound?
Pls go play with ur toy, boy. Or go and recite ur ABCD. I don't discuss serious issues with kids who suck their fingers, like u.

asha 80: well for someone like dele sobowale whom i respect his write ups on sunday vanguard to write such maybe there is something that does not seem right to him.
Something is definitely wrong somewhere. I believe the yoruba xtians are tolerant while the muslims are using wayo on the xtians to marry their xtian daughters, period! Also, if i may ask don't we have credible xtians in Lagos state ACN?

asha 80: the bolded reminds me of what i read sometime ago below
The yoruba muslims are using sense on the xtains; there is nothing like religious tolerance. The xtains allow their daugthers to marry muslim men, but the muslims hardly allow their daughters to get married to christian men. Is this not wayo? They are decieving themselves. The same thing with the Lagos state governors, why must they always be muslims? This is wayo against the xtians.
PoliticsRe: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by ishmael(m): 8:42am On Aug 26, 2012
Why is it that most of the cases of marriages showing religious tolerance are one sided? I mean why is it mostly a moslem father and xtain mother? Why is it rare to see a family with a christain father and a moslem mother? Does this show any religious tolerance, if i may ask?

dayokanu: Ask ppl in Kaduna and Jos who speak same language
All over the north even up to Lokoja area people speak hausa language but that doesn't mean all of them are hausas. Most of the middle belt tribes in plateau and part of kaduna have different ethnic groups & tribes with culture similar to each other but far dissimilar from the hausa language and culture, hence the intolerance. The hausa domination of northern nigeria by Danfodio and later Sardauna is the reason why most part of northern nigeria speak hausa language, and like i said before the cultures of the northern minority tribes are far different from that of the hausa-fulanis. Therefore the yorubas being tolerant in religion may not be as a result of speaking the same language but may be because they have an almost homogeneous culture all over the south west.

Once again, Islam is a far cry from Christianity. Those Christians that says both faith are similar are fools and ignorant and should be ashamed of being a Christian. We have to live at peace with everyone but a religion which preaches violence and intolerance is vying for destruction.[/quote]I like this. Are u saying that most yoruba xtains are fools and ignorant? because i know them to believe that Allah is the same thing as Jehovah God.

johnie: Ibadan masqueraders protest alleged assault

Following the alleged assaults on the most fearful masquerade in Ibadanland, “Oloolu’, the masquerade fraternity yesterday stormed the palace of Olubadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade, to formally lodge complaint. It will be recalled that some interior parts of the ancient city, including Popoyemoja, Idi-Arere and Beere among others were in turmoil on Tuesday and Wednesday as a result of the crisis involving the supporters of the masquerade and some youths in the affected areas.

National Mirror gathered that the masquerade and his supporters were injured in the fracas which was described as unprovoked by the leader of the Oloolu family, Ojetunde Akinleye Asoleke, who led the team to the Olubadan Palace.

Asoleke, who is the Olori Alaagbaa of Ibadanland, said the development was a desecration of the tradition and culture of the city, stat-ing that it was the first time such would happen to the masquerade.

He said the assault was orchestrated by some Muslim youths, decrying the indiscriminate arrest of about 20 of his supporters.

Asoleke noted that the most bizarre of the incident was the removal of the traditional regalia of Oloolu as well as the arrest of the carrier.

He dismissed the claim on some local electronic media that the carrier of Oloolu died during the fracas, adding that the news was mischievous.

Asoleke said the Oloolu carrier was critically injured, but not killed as claimed by the media report.

He said: “We feel sad-dened by the report that our man was killed as this was farther from the truth. No doubt, he was badly wound-ed as you can all see (showing the wounds sustained by the Oloolu on his arm and head), but was not killed.

“The costume seized by the men of Operation Burst has been retrieved and the festival would resume in earnest.”

The Olori Alaagbaa, who appealed to the Olubadan to ensure the release of all the supporters arrested and detained by the police, also urged him to prevail on security agencies not to allow them to be used to cause disaffection among the people.

And why are we all ignoring this post that is saying something contrary? What about the story of Bishop Oyedepo and his muslim sister that he has refused to help simply becos she's a muslim, and asking her to convert to xtianity before getting any help from him? Does that show anything close to tolerance?

Demdem: Govt is talking about a cashless society and yet still thinking of bringing in #5000 notes. Does this go together?
There is no correlation bros. I wonder the type and kind of Economics Sanusi read in the university. GEJ is even in support of this. Funny enough N20, N10, and N5 will become coins and will disappear like 10kobo, 25kobo, etc. This will surely devalue the naira and cause hyper inflation in the economy.

duality: Una don start again? ok, show me the payslip of a dangote truck driver first.

one thing people forget is that, any industry paying unsustainable wages is a time bomb waiting to explode.

if you work in an organization because they pay cleaners and drivers 1.2 million per an um, when profit diminishes you'll be fired; coz labour, especially unskilled labour is cheap. people need to be wise.

I'd rather do a highly skilled job for less. if you gat offers i'm available sha...
I love ur sense of reasoning. Some nairalanders with HND/Bsc/BEng/BA/BEd/BTech are already attending interviews with Dangote company for positions as graduate trainee truck drivers. I kicked against it but some were trying to make me see reasons why there is nothing wrong with graduates being employed to drive trucks by Dangote. Some even asked me to provide a better and skilled job for them if it's easy.

Pls tell him not to go close to anything that begins with the letter H, not to talk of HND. Let him embrace the Bsc Physics with open arms and give thanx to God. HND in nigeria is not given the attention it is supposed to be given. I'm talking from experience, if he goes for HND he might still later have to go for Bsc because of the discrimination he would face with the HND certificate.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Has Dangote Start Calling Graduate Trainee Drivers? by ishmael(m): 10:40am On Aug 20, 2012
Santino1: Yeah, every graduates are expected to be able to set themselves up by virtue of the "entrepreneuriship" skills they must have harnessed in their universities. However, you didn't factor in the role of capital. What if the reason some are doing it is to raise enough capital to start themselves up?. Good you pointed out it's okay as far as it's legal (which brings us to the same page).

No one is "pleased" with graduates as truck drivers, but hey, a whole lot of people in that country are trying to survive first before thinking about what pleases them.
I wished i had a way of stopping this whole thing by discouraging graduates from taking this Dangote's truck driving job. Oh my God, it's an insult for graduates (all disciplines) to take up unskilled jobs such as truck driving. They drive long distances mostly at night. It's a dangerous and risky job to do. It should be left in the hands of those who are not graduates. Those guys take all manner of drugs to keep them moving, and they are always drunk. Is this what Dangote wants to turn nigerian graduates into? If Dangote has respect for graduates at all he should have created skilled jobs or positions for them; or atleast semi-skilled jobs, not truck driving. If nigerians allow this to happen, I won't be surprised 2mrow to hear that graduates are being employed as messangers and cleaners in Dangote's company.

Santino1: ^^ why don't you help by setting them up, I'm sure they would prefer it to Dangote's offer
I don't need to be the one to set anyone up. Every graduate (real graduate) is expected to be able to set himself/herself up. No one set me up, i started what i'm doing today by myself. All the same, I'm still not pleased with Dangote's vacancies for graduate truck drivers. Oh my God! I support doing anything legal to earn a living, but truck driving is very dangerous and risky for graduates.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Has Dangote Start Calling Graduate Trainee Drivers? by ishmael(m): 8:48pm On Aug 19, 2012
I don't believe any sane graduate would want to be a trailer or truck driver. So nigerian graduates cannot be self employed? Why not learn a trade or handwork and make urself self reliant? Why going to spend 4 or 5 yrs in the university only for u to become a truck or trailer driver? Where is the dignity of being a graduate and working as a graduate? Why is Dangote humiliating naija graduates? Are there no skillful or professional jobs that graduates can do for Dangote? Why truck driving?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Has Dangote Start Calling Graduate Trainee Drivers? by ishmael(m): 7:19pm On Aug 19, 2012
You guys think driving truck from kaduna to lagos is that easy? Just be ready to start smoking igbo. Or u think those truck drivers that drive through out the night from kd to lagos or maiduguri to lagos do that with ordinary eyes? I pity those graduates (if at all they are genuine graduates) that want to turn themselves into truck drivers.

EducationRe: Statistics Gurus...please Help by ishmael(m): 5:19pm On Aug 18, 2012
Javanian: Thanks, but are you saying if I have a range of numbers let's say 2,4,6,8,10 then I can assume the i-th tern is the 3rd term, therefore the I term will be 6??
No, it's not that the ith term is the 3rd term. It's put this way, if i = 3, it implies the 3rd term in the series. What he meant actually is that, i is an integer (a whole number without a decimal part). So i here could be 1,2,3,4,5.......,n. (i is called an integer variable). The ith integer now rep the number or value in the ith position. Since i = 1,2,3,---,n; it implies that the ith position could be the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th,----nth position. Going back to ur series or data: 2,4,6,8,10. If i = 1, it implies the 1st position, and the data in the 1st position is 2. If i = 2, it implies the 2nd position, whose integer value is 4. Also if i = 5, it implies the 5th position whose value is the integer 10. The series could be 3,5,7,9,11,15,19. Here if i = 4, it implies the 4th position and the value of the data in the 4th position is 9. If i = 7, it implies the 7th position, and the data in the 7th position is 19. So, i is an integer counter, while ith integer is the position of the data in an array or series (made up of only integer values). Hope u can understand it now?

MCMC is used when you want to draw a sample from some distribution, but the distribution is (computationally) hard to specify. I guess Gibbs sampling is one of the more popular MCMC techniques. Statisticians use it a lot. Computer scientists also use it for some applications.
Yes, u're very correct. You know so much about statistical applications in physics, u're a great asset bro.
