double3: Young fellow,u can't expect to be trained as a technician n wanto end up answering an engineer,u should know better. In the field of engineering, we have the engineers, the technicians, the technologist, the craftmen, and the artisans. So u can't be trained to be a crafts man or technologist n come out tomorrow n wanto rub shoulders with an engineering degree holder; I don't think its done anywhere in the world(u can quote me on that) |
Sunnykaka: I pray the senate call off the strike ooo..can't wait to go back for my HND, we awaiting hnd holder also say no to discrimination..you better pray for FG to meet the demands of the poly lecturers and also remove the disparity btw HND and Degree. If the strike is called off without meeting those demands then u're bound to suffer discrimination after completing ur HND. In today's Nigeria, HND has been relegated to the level of NCE (3 years post-secondary education) which is wrong. Pray earnestly for the discrimination against HND holders to be addressed before they call the strike off, else u will regret having gone to study in the polytechnic. |
Crassus: is it difficult to get nigerian citizenship and passport ni? just bribe one immigration officer and u go get ur passport.. find links and u will get a birth certificate too and find a local govt official and u will get state of origin.. chikenaVery easy jare. Na so dem Abacha and other Chadians/Nigeriens take join Nigerian Army. |
Polytechnic students should not just wish for the strike to end for them to go back to school; they should pray foremostly for government to meet the demands of the striking lecturers, especially removing the discrimination against polytechnic HND holders, who in recent times have been relegated to the level of NCE as against being at par with University Degree holders; even when the polytechnic is known to have a better curriculum than the university. The injustice is too obvious and too much. Let government also establish a national polytechnics commission to monitor and regulate academic activities in polytechnics as against been lumped up together with technical/vocational colleges under the NBTE. May God help the polytechnic lecturers and government to reach a positive conclusion. |
Funpeter: jst graduated still need more knowlege in it like using most of dese packages like sas, minitab and so on could even link up with u doing my service year but the probs is north is nt safe guess u are in kadunayes, i' shuttle btw kaduna and abuja. I'm presently in abuja. If u find urself in abuja, good, we could arrange to meet. Any how sha, we shall hook up. |
Funpeter: guess The NSA is meant for those who have gone far is statistics also it seem the NSA is placing a bill for Statistics to be a profession in the national assembly. Dont knw when d bill is going to be passedStatistics is a profession anywhere in the world. I wonder why it is not seen as a profession here in nigeria? I can now see where the problem is coming from. No wonder a lot of people think or believe that statistics is just to compute mean, median, mode, variance and standard deviation. So what are u into now? Do u work as a statistician? As for me i work as a consultant. I'm a computational statistician/data analyst. I handling training on spss, minitab, stata, sas, etc. I also handle projects like questionnaire design and analysis for surveys and researches, and lot more like tutoring statistical methods to university and polytechnic students. That's the only way i work as a statistician. Try and sharpen ur stats skills, u will be surprised to see people consulting u. Regards. |
Funpeter: how real is the Nigeria Institute of Industria statistics (niis)? and apart from Nigeria Statistical Associations is there any other professional body of statistics?NIIS is somebody's idea, which is good cos we ve such institute in other countries. i don't think it is recognized yet. I think NSA is the only recognized statistical body in nigeria for now, and it is not as effective as we expect it to be. Statistics in nigeria has been relegated to nothing behind it. |
Funpeter: yeah dats true is so painful,i guess so too. He must be doing a pgd in stats now.. |
Funpeter: We are needed in almost all field if not all, ever wonder why all most all courses borrow statistics in school? Dats show our relevancethat's why they partially act as statisticians in their organisations. Admin personnels do statistical jobs in most organisations in Nigeria. The Statistician-General of Nigeria is a graduate of Economics; is it right? Can a graduate of statistics head an Economics body in Nigeria? Nigerians don't value statistics, and hence do not care about using professional statistician to collect, analyze, and manage data effectively and efficiently. |
They are on their own confessing that Amaechi truly won the NGF election. Why are they trying to impose Jang to be the winner by force when they didn't do their home work well? |
largeoseni: dumb!!!!! wud dey give up easily?i don't expect them to. But that's the only thing nigerians are eager to hear from them. |
Did they say who their sponsors were? |
Yes, the Nigerian HND is considered to be the equivalent of a Bsc in most developed countries. It is only in Nigeria that university graduates do not want it to be so without giving any valid technical reason. I passed through both poly and uni, and i can tell u with 99% confidence that the poly curricula is richer and better than what is obtainable in the uni. May God help Nigeria with good and focused leaders. |
the_cia: [b]I have used SAS in the past and Excel is always handy. Recently, i discovered Minitab and it is really helpful.I also found Minitab very good and suitable for OLS Regression and Time series modeling. I love stats computing! |
When will govt also jail boko haram members that ve killed hundreds? It's a pity Odunlami, u're the scape goat. Give ur life to Christ life will have a meaning to u, even in prison. May God help u. |
He will definitely come back! May be the same way Yar'adua came back in the night. How is his brain now? Does he still know that he's a governor? Let's be very careful and watchful. |
NAPS and NANS should organize peaceful protests in abuja and other major cities. |
Amaechi of course! Jang is too old and confused to lead. I wonder how he became a governor in d 1st place. |
No be una vote 4 am? Why complaining again? |
spywareczar: We all demand for statement of emergency in kaduna state, coz the worthless empty headed fulani goats are disturbing and killing our people in the rural areas of southern kadunaThere neighbours in nasarawa state have decided to defend themselves by forming the almighty Ombatse cult. They can as well form theirs to defend themselves. |
Why won't we have illegal universities when certificates and not skills are all we want to see in nigeria. We have insuffient spaces in the existing universities and everybody wants to earn to earn a degree. To put a stop to this, let govt make the polytechnic certificate attractive so that those who cannot go into the universities can also go to the polytechnic and earn a degree in technology. |
okpara ugo: Fyne, i have told you to leave kaduna and you refused....It didn't happen in kaduna town. It happened in a village sharing boundary with plateau state, almost 200km away from kaduna city. May God never allow it to get to kaduna city where people are going about their businesses. The govt shld do something about these fulani people. I doubt if they are nigerians. |
cyara: Is this the solution you can offer ? If they scrap it what happens next ? What makes you think universities are better than polytechnics ? Our mentality in this part of the world is just something else, i fail to believe that young youth with your kind of mentality still existHe made some sense my dear. If govt are not ready to reposition polytechnics in nigeria they should be scrapped. FYI, the person that came up with dat suggestion is an elderly man and not a young boy; i believe he knows what he's saying. |
Kwajay: So sad we are really going to miss this young gallant NAF officers.Sorry, Ben Ado is a Squadron Leader and not a Flt Lt. He's a member of 50th Regular Course. Kool guy! May his gentle soul rest in peace. |
olupentane: Please house, I am a statistics student currently in 200 level, and I already have national diploma in statistics which I used for direct entry into my current school, but I'm now considering crossing to computer science after my 200L,, and repeat my 200L, please is computer science superior to statistics? does it worth the time and money as I will repeat 200L? please I need your advice ASAP.it depends on what u aspire to become. If u want to be a computer analyst, scientist or programmer, go for computer science, it's worth it.. If u want to be a statistician then remain in statistics. Good luck. |
Jos is a small town compared to kaduna. It's like comparing abeokuta with lagos. @OP kaduna is lagos in d north. It is highly cosmopolitan. Security is a problem in nigeria as a whole not just kd or jos. Forget about "home of peace, tourism, hospitality" dat plateau and borno gave to demselves, they are actually not safe places. If u want to live in a big city in d north and enjoy ur stay, then it's kada city. |
Hnd-holder: |
Wish u all success! |
Ayo_hbk: Thanks...... i think d topic now makes sense.....i will submit dat to her on monday and contact you if accepted....Good, AY. All ur supervisor wants u to do is to do a research on d online library system. Ur project wud possibly comprise of designing the system and getting views from people who must have used ur own system or any other online library system. It's going to be great research work to embark on. U can call me on 07068945155. Regards! |
Ayo_hbk: i submitted three project topics to my supervisor for approval of one....here are the topicsyou can re-phrase the 2nd topic as "Efficiency & Effectiveness of an online library system". One of ur aims could be to find out how people feel using an online library system over d manual/traditional method. That is, the merits of the system. U can design a questionnaire to collect d required data. U can do a T-test or Chi-square test at d end of d day. I'm a Statistician; i can help u here. If u need my help kindly respond to my post. |
