dokson:I support you my broda. The guy is even saying that he has never seen any 1st class graduate without a job; i was wondering if at all the guy lives in nigeria. |
neroflick:for programming ofcourse!! |
fynewaka:And some people with 1st class and 2.1 are still roaming about highways and streets looking for jobs. I hope rusky or wetin be him name sef dey hear?? |
rusky:You can get A's all through in the university through the following ways: 1. Reading and understanding (and be able to attack and solve questions and problems on things you were taught and things you were not taught in the class) 2. Cramming without undestanding (be able to reproduce a whole handout or lecture note just to pass test or exams without really understanding the course). Here, if a question or a problem outside the handout or lecture notes is given to the student he is unable to apply his initiative to solve or get a solution to the problem. Most nigerian graduates fall into one of these 2 categories. I have met with so many of them like that, 1st class, 2.1 and all that but when they are given a simple problem to solve they behave as if they've never been to school before. Please understand me very well before you crucify me; i'm not saying that all 1st class and 2.1 graduates are not innovative and analytical o, but obviously some are not!! |
Naija4ward:Bros i have a biz proposal o but no capital to start it, how do i get in contact with you?? |
Having a 1st class does not mean that you really worked hard or read your books very well and it does not automatically make you better in your field. On the other hand having a 3rd class does not mean that you did not work hard or that you are not good in your chosen field. Some people work hard by just craming their notes and handouts (without understanding the technicalities of the course) and at the end of the day they get their 1st class or 2.1 but out their in the field they are nothing to write home about; i mean they fail to use their initiatives and are not innovative and analytical. But some people with 2.2 and 3rd class are highly innovative and analytical because they read to understand the course and apply their initiatives to problems; therefore employers should give everybody equal opportunity to prove themselves. |
In nigeria some Zoologists work in commercial banks, so he can be lucky to get a job with any of the commercial banks then. |
Have they said anything so far about the reforms?? |
Flodel:Then there will be no more polytechnics again, abi?? |
ola_sky:My guy i appreciate your talk well well. You have spoken!! Zoology no be easy course sha and them dey easily get jobs for nigeria; atleast you can work in Jos wildlife park, PH zoo, Ibadan zoo or yankari game reserve. I can understand why you are trying to look down at nigerian polytechnics, simply because ZOOLOGY is only done in the university, ok o!!. Polytechnics don't need to run non-technical courses like ZOOLOGY any way. May God help you Donmayor. |
Is it a desktop or laptop?? re-formatting the hard drive may not be the solution. I want to believe the operating systems is win xp?? if it is xp you need to repair the operating system (i.e. win xp) using the installation cd without loosing any data, but if it still continues then you have to crash it and loose all data in the hard drive. |
MP007:I think they want more theoretical people than practical-oriented people in the country. |
HND is a stressful qualification, and needs to be given recognition. |
Hnd-holder:laughing!! ![]() |
Why should we call you people before b4 you tell us how to go about it?? Why not post it for all of us to read and understand here. sebi all of us na Nairalanders we be?? please i'm also interested. |
damadsuite:Pally i'm interested in this recharge card business. Can i start with lets say N20k?? I'm in kaduna. Please let me hear your response. |
bluebell:Please help us tell that irrational man to be wise. If truely you really deserve to hold a 1st class or 2.1 degree or HND distinction or upper credit the general believe is that you should be able to do better than those who got lower grades than you in any exams, which may turn out not to be true because some people with lower grades will do better than most people with 1st class and 2.1. Does it mean mean that if you have A1 in mathematics and i have a C6 that you can do better than me in mathematics?? Employers should stop all these nonsense and allow everybody to come out and prove him/her self. Some people we know very well carry 2.1 degrees yet they are in no way better than people with 3rd class. |
Tell dem o!! They don't discriminate when they are looking for customers neither do they take their products to only 1st class and 2.1 graduates alone; but when it comes to employment they discriminate. I just wish people will realise this nonsense and stop transacting with them until they adjust themselves and make employment opportunities open for every category of graduates. |
what of OBJ?? United States and Britian are biased!! |
Akolawole:My guy i'm serious o!! |
Let dem carryout the reforms let's see. |
OBJ has similar charges. Stole our oil money between (1976 - 1979) and (1999 - 2006). Ordered the killings and massacre of innocent civilians in Odi- Bayelsa state and Zaki-Biam in Taraba state for killing of some policemen and soldiers; and he himself is a yoruba man, (more precisely- egba man). He has committed the same crime Saddam committed. Americans, we are waiting for you people to come and rescue us o! just as you rescued Iraq. |
boborosky:pally your sytem must be a pentium 1. RAM 32MB?? and Hard disk 3.4GB?? Kai, it's an outdated system, just forget about upgrading it and get yourself a new one. Cheers!! |
Let them do the educational reforms let us see; they think educational sector is the same as the banking sector where merger and acquisition were easily carried out. So what should we call this educational reforms? merger or acquisition?? To me sha i see it as acquisition because the universities will eat up polytechnics and colleges of education and their names and purposes will be lost while that of the university will remain. |
Na God go help us oo. |
is it only saddam that ordered a particular village people to be killed in this world?? what about our own president OBJ who ordered soldiers to kill the people of ODI town in Bayelsa state?? when is America going to charge him?? |
Hnd-holder:Wrong!! Say over 95% i will agree with you. Hnd-holder:Who started the discrimination in the polytechnic sector?? is it not the various HOD's an Rectors who are university graduates and know nothing about polytechnics?? Later they will open their wide mouths pretending to be helping us complain about the discrimination of poly graduates by employers, when actually they are the ones that started it (i.e. the architects) and still engineer it. Charity they say, starts from the home. |
Hnd-holder:Until polytechnics are converted into universtities and begin to award Degrees or until the name HND is changed to a better name like (Bsc Degree) that the society likes before they can send their children there. |
LoverBwoy:And how do you fix it?? Is it by converting polytechnics and colleges of education all into universities?? |
Hnd-holder:even pants sef some are fairly use. |
Jeff, dont mind Mr. Donmayor. He can not come out with any reason why HND and Bsc are not equivalent in nigeria, rather he's talking about how the society feels about polytechnics and HND certificate. |
Donmayor, HND is a certificate awarded after completing the first 2 years of a 3-year Degree program in Uk universities. The only thing they don't do is the 3rd year which comprises of some few courses and research project that is all; but in nigeria the polytechnic HND courses run for 5 years like BTech Degree programs and not even Bsc because Bsc in nigeria is 4 years. BEng and BTech Degree programs last for 5 years and they also spend 6 months or more within that 5years doing industrial training like their poly counterparts. Please there is no difference between what you learn in the university and in the polytechnic in nigeria. We have the records and statistics that most people who pass or have passed ICAN exams are polytechnic HND graduates and they still perform better than their Bsc counterparts in the field of accounting in their places of work. Don't tell me that what i'm saying is what i hear from friends or "them say", NO. Please ICAN have the records and statistics you can ask them for it and confirm for yourself. I think the problem is the name HND; and the solution is to change the name to Degree or what have you like the universities, because there is little or no difference between what the polytechnics & colleges of Technology and the universities do. |
