Donmayor, if i may ask, why should Bsc graduates in Nigeria be treated better and given better privileges than poly HND graduates in nigeria?? Please note the emphasis "in NIgeria". What is the difference for God's sake between the time spent to acquire a Bsc in nigeria and the time spent to acquire HND in nigeria?? What are people in the universities taught that people in the polytechnics are not taught?? HND in Britian and most countries is inferior to Bsc because of the following reasons; 1. you spend 2 years to get HND against 3 years to get Bsc 2. you do not carry out a research project before graduating to get HND 3. HND in Britian is termed to be the first 2 years of a 3-year Bsc program. Please there is a big difference between HND and Bsc in Britian. But in nigeria we still can't know where the difference lies because you must carry out a research project before getting HND, and the minimum time spent in school to get HND in Nigeria is 5 years while Bsc is 4 years. Ok, agreed poly graduates spend 1 year outside the school doing industrial training, that is 4 academic years + 1 year industrial training. Please Donmayor the difference between HND and Bsc in Nigeria is the name, period. They are equivalent qualifications and that is why some if not most poly HND graduates in nigeria do better than uni Bsc graduates in professional exams and places of work. I rest my case here!! |
For those who r still not in tune with the times n current trends, there's rlly nt gonna b any election come 2007.Election(or whateva they call it) will b a mere formality.kind of coronating a corrupt process of selection. Hey, i was in one of the GTBank branches last week, they also have a crowd. people had to queue up to cash or deposit money, and it took me some time to cash my pay; although they are far better than UBA. I was also at intercontinental bank last week thursday to deposit some cash, honestly i did not spend more than 5 minutes from when i went in and came out of the bank. |
Akolawole, church has changed drastically o. Pre-1985 christians are different from today's christians that is what your friend gbade.x is trying to tell you. Which can also mean that christianity of today is different from pre-1958 christianity. But why should christianity or any religion change together with technology or the social life of the society?? No wonder we have gay pastors and Bishops in today's churches unlike in the pre-1985 churches. |
JoshO, sorry i thot you were a yoruba man; you,re talking like one sha!! No vex o!! |
Kola, you dey mind am?? |
JoshO, you are a yoruba man i belive!! |
ThoniaSlim:What makes him better than Gen. Buhari?? |
Na dem sabi. If dem like make dem convert polytechnics to Trade/craft school sef. |
rezzy:And it is also written in the Bible that "a man can Divorce his wife and marry another woman" and also " Remember to Keep the Sabbath day holy"; abi?? |
Hnd-holder:Why won't polytechnic Technologists be Teachers when the University Engineers have all failed to design for them. The problem of Technological under development in Nigeria is as a result of our university Engineers being unable to live up to expectations. |
LoverBwoy:NO, thatz not what i'm saying. The university Engineering graduates are the ENGINEERS, while the polytechnic graduates are Engineering Technologists and Technicians. What i'm saying is that it is the university Engineers that are the major problem because they have not been able to design anything for the Technologists and Technicians to work on, rather they bring themselves back to the level of Technicians by carrying out maintenance and repairs on machines. If i may ask what have our Engineers in Nigeria achieved so far?? Have they been able to do anything with the bulk of iron ore that we have in Nigeria?? Have they been able to come out with a design for any Engine-block like their counterpart Engineers in other countries?? Considering these, between the polytechnic and university who do you think really needs restructuring and overhauling?? |
May God not let us see worse and darker days in dis country. |
Is is that the National assembly members are ignorant of all these nonsense going on?? Or is it that they are afraid of OBJ?? Why cant he (OBJ) be impeached and removed from aso rock?? If Atiku is to be impeached and removed from aso rock as the VP then OBJ deserves more than impeachment. Both of them should be removed, arrested and tried accordingly. National assembly members please do something before OBJ turns himself into SADDAM HUSSEIN. |
saintchux:You are very correct my brother. Nigerians especially the National assembly, EFCC and ICPC should go to Abacha's grave and his family house in kano and make sincere apologies to them. |
[ Afam:Which constitution told you that it is in order for the president to declare the VP's seat as vacant if the VP decamps to another party?? Is it the nigerian 1999 constitution or PDP constitution?? |
Twinstaiye, you people should stop bringing sentiments and tribalism into this issue. Is OBJ a saint?? Did he not collaborate with Atiku and other PDP members to steal our money all in the name of PDP campaign?? Becos na Yorubaman you no want make them curse am abi?? Why then are you saying ill things about Atiku?? OBJ is a big thief and by the grace of God will be exposed. |
Seun:Do Engineers repair damaged equipments?? I thought they are suppose to be designers?? If they repair what then will be the job of Technicians?? But all the same, well said sha!! |
Seun:So seun, at the end of the day the government should have nothing to do for its citizens abi?? Road & bridge constructions in communities too should be privatized abi?? General and teaching hospitals should be privatized too abi??Then people should not be asked to pay tax or be taxed. What will the government be doing with the money collected from tax -payers?? |
If our government can allow people to keep cutlasses, daggars, spears and bow & arrows without licenses why cant they allow people to keep and carry their personal guns around?? After all in the north people carry cutlasses, daggars, spears, bow & arrows etc and walk even pass Police stations without anybody asking dem questions not to talk of arresting dem. Are these weapons not as dangerous as the double-barrel gun and other rifles?? Are these weapons not what people in the north use in killing non-indigenes and non-muslims during religious crisis in parts of the north?? Funny enough armed robbers too use some of these weapons as tools for their operations. What really is the difference between cutlass, spear, daggar, bow & arrow in one hand and gun, that people are allowed to possess and carry the former around wiithout licenses while the gun is a crime to keep without a license?? |
Converting polytechnics into universities in nigeria will not solve the problem of under-development in nigeria. The major problem we have in nigeria that has made nigeria to be backwards technologically is Engineering. Engineers and (NSE and COREN) have all failed. They have never done anything to show that they are Engineers. They are more or less mechanics and Technicians. Atleast we know that Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Vet. Doctors, Agricultural scientist etc. are trying in their various fields, but Engineering especially Mechanical, Metallurgical & materials and elect/electronics are mere Mechanics and Technicians. Until they become ENGINEERS nigeria will always remain the way it is presently. |
Julee:Can you tell me of any pastor that is fake in nigeria?? Tell me the pastor's name. All of them appear to be genuine, but it is only God that knows who is who. Shine your eyes sha o!! may be your church pastor na fake pastor (Dagbo man), because you never can tell. |
Hnd-holder:It becomes an embarrassment. |
LoverBwoy:You seem not to understand Prof Lassa's points, thatz your problem any way! |
Hnd-holder:What you are saying now is that the certificate is not the problem but the name of the school, abi?? You mean if only the name polytechnic will be changed to university the problem will be solved?? Are you saying that if universities (former Polytechnics) churn out HND graduates they will not be discriminated?? Let me hear you answers please. |
Hnd-holder:Are you saying if you hold a BTech or MTech from a polytechnic you will be discriminated?? |
Hnd-holder:HND-holder, you are right o! I will leave them with their opinions, its better. |
LoverBwoy:Are you saying the Mathematics prof is yarning nonsense?? make it clear to me please. |
Hnd-holder:No, polytechnic should not go, but HND certificate should go. |
Donmayor, you have come again, abi?? You no dey hear english again?? I said HND and Bsc are equivalent qualifications in Nigeria. They are never the same and cannot be the same. Some of the skills HND graduates in Nigeria possess, the Bsc graduates do not have them and vice versa because of differences in the course curricula. Dont begin to compare HND graduates in the UK or Ghana with that of Nigeria because you will never get what we are talking about right. And for your information the president has said that HND and Bsc are of equal strength, and that superiority depends on the skills and performance of the holders of these qualifications. HND accounting graduate that passes ICAN and ACCA exams is obviously better and superior to his friend or brother with a Bsc accounting Degree (ICAN failed or ICAN in view). |
The mathematics professor is yarning sense because he must have done enough research and analyses on this issue, while the so-called VC of IMSU is only yarning what he knows or what he thinks should be done without carrying out any analysis or research. |
