emmigrant0:I read it on yesterday's Vanguard newspaper that ASUU themselves are condemning the merger of polytechnics with universities. They too are of the opinion that polytechnics and colleges of technology are needed in nigeria especially at this time that nigeria is still trying to develop. They called the so-called educational reforms "a wild goose chase"; and i quite agree with them. They maintained that the government should empower Technical colleges and Polytechnics to produce and churn out competent Technicians and Technologists rather than making everybody to start going after a university Degree that will not be beneficial to the individuals and the nation at large. I just hope those behind this kind of reforms are not out of their minds sha. |
Seun, you like talking about self-employment. Can you begin to give people ideas on what to do to become self-employed?? And 2ndly can you help them with the initial capital they need to start the biz?? |
ASUU has condemned it, that it is wrong. They said what the government needs to do is to empower the technical colleges and polytechnics rather than merging them with universities. In their statement they claimed the government were only trying to carryout a wild goose chase. |
The guy probably needs something cheap. |
My brother, well said. Engineering is all about practical and result and not assumption and theories. The problem now is that it is only you and i that know that. The government does not know that one o! Let them go ahead and scrap polytechnic education in nigeria, but one thing i believe for sure is that the country will be worse without technicians and technologists from polytechnics. |
Most christians always believe that some things in the old testament are old and that Christ has come to modify things. In other words they believe more in the new testament teachings. Like the issue of divorce, marrying more than one wife etc. These issues were never supported in the new testament rather they were condemned. And the Apostles in the new testament also made us to understand that we were no longer living under the law. My question is that, was paying of tithe not part of the law then?? Why do some christians still believe in paying tithes till today?? Did christ and his disciples support the paying of tithes since they were not living under the law?? |
rozilla:Pally kool down; you can get all these parts in ikeja computer village very cheap and i assure you they will last. Let me give you an estimate: ATX casing with powerpack - N5,500 P4 systemboard + processor - N18,000 **(P3 would be less than N18,000) 512MB DDRAM - N6,000 20GB HDD - N6000 **(Alternatively 80GB HDD @ N8,500)You can go to computer village yourself and ask for their prices if you will have the time. **Note that i'm only giving you an estimate and not the true cost. |
He is not a failure, at least he planned to scatter nigeria and make people feed from hand-to-mouth; he has succeeded in doing that, abi?? Na only God go help us judge that Egba man. |
LoverBwoy:Ol'boy u funny o!! |
If that will solve the problem of discrimination then let them go ahead else dey are just toiling with our educational system. |
Of course it is AT & ATX they are talking about. |
Don't mind dem jare, they dont even know what they want. Even if you present the transcript they will still ask you for another thing again. Some if not most employers do not really get the best best hands at the end of the day because of all these their conditions. Forget about dem and keep on trying, God will surely see us thru. |
LoverBwoy:I get your point. Lets see how this will work in nigeria. Britian is already a developed country and before now they had polytechncs and colleges of technology seperately from universities. Why can't nigeria empower the technical/technological institutions (polytechnics) to run technical/technological courses from Diploma level up to Phd level?? What government is indirectly saying is that the polytechnics alone are not doing well in nigeria and need to be integrated into the university system, whereas it is the universities that have not been doing well for long despite the huge sums of money spent on them by the government. The universities themselves need to be re-structured. How do you see it?? |
LoverBwoy:So what will NBTE be doing?? |
Ivoo:Omo you try o!!. More grease to your elbow. I can predict how much your salary will be in 2007; probably 10,500. |
Lets wait and see the outcome of their so called reforms. Nigerians will not be surprised at the outcome anyway!! |
Will changing the name of polytechnic to university solve the problem of certificate discrimination?? |
Seun:No matter how big El-Rufai is, he is still a Quantity surveyor; nothing has changed him. Let him try and get in touch with him 1st and see. |
Who and who are our education policy makers in the first place?? Are they sane people at all?? |
chincchon:FCT minister, Nasir El-Rufai is a Quantity Surveyor with both academic and professional experience; you can meet him to put you through. Regards. |
Do you support the Federal government plans to systematically turn polytechnics into universities?? Who will be responsible for the training of middle-level manpower if polytechnics are no longer available?? |
Will the universities train and produce middle-level man power?? will the universities run Technical/Technological courses?? Why won't government just empower polytechnics to run post graduate programs in Technology?? Is it all about university education?? Why?? |
That is what government should be looking and not converting polytechnics to universities, trying to kill polytechnic education, when of course university education has never in any way helped the country. |
My question is why has RIBADU not visited Rivers state. |
Please can you help me with the address of the company?? If you no need the job some of us need am you hear?? Please we need to know the company even if dem go reduce am to 20k a month sef we ready to work. Nigeria is in a mess, therefore a job of 40k or 50k a month is ok for a start. |
Nigerian Government and policy makers are leading us to doom. |
No country can do without middle-level manpower. Even Britian, Germany and America still churn out middle-level manpower for thier industries and research centers. Merging Technical education with university theoretical education is an amalgamation that will take Nigeria to no where. This is not the right time to do that. |
No wonder Ghana is doing better than Nigeria. They still give priority to Vocational/Technical education as well as Technological education. They still respect and value people with HND from polytechnics. |
Hnd-holder:Do we even have a minister in education ministry?? |
Hnd-holder:Yes, but they have forgotten that Britian, America and other developed countries made use of products of such schools to develop technologically. |
Polytechnics are not relevent in nigeria and should be scrapped completely. What i dont like is the idea of converting some into universities. If HND and polytechnics are no longer needed all polytechnics both state, federal and private should be closed down. NBTE should be closed down too because we are in an era of university education, no room for technical education. What government are saying is that everybody should go and get a university degree. No more middle level technicians again. Everybody in the enginnering sector will be Engineers with BEng Degrees. I wonder who will be holding spanners and screw-drivers during engineering projects. |
