Just before Fashola becomes boastful about his records he should take a drive around Lagos

Lagos is not yet New York

While we still have poor people who can not afford to eat 3 square meals, while we still have people in Ikeja who can not afford to eat at any joint in VI then we must be level headed about our records. There is still a lot of work to be done!
Aren't you from Eastern Nigeria?

Fela's reckless lifeless prematurely destroyed the lives of many young women ---hundreds, maybe thousands--- whom he infected with the HIV virus, before he succumbed to A.I.D.S himself. Should we then consider Fela a murderer or a bad man? His kids should look past the superficial and put the future of Nigeria before their (understandable) bias.

In uniport where our amiable President schooled and in most other schools, there is no special course of study called ''biology'', you have a school of biological sciences with departments like botany, microbiology, zoology etc under it.
Those who are termed biologists are just like people termed engineers, if you check deeper the are either microbiologists, botanists, zoologists.
Your excuses don't make sense.

If you told me: "Im a Biologist", Im not thinking to myself "Gee, he might be a zoologist or a botanist". He made a (innocent) mistake, period, don't try to excuse it thinking everyone else is dumb. When you do that it only makes you look like you're guilty of something.

The Buhari will never get my vote nor even if he promise 1m naira every month.
He is among the people who made Nigeria like this and now he is come back, what will Nigeria become after he is voted in!!
Your country was messed up, just like today,by similar characters when the people that took over (and put Buhari in charge) overthrew the Shagari Govt. The people behind the scenes (OBJ and co) pulled the same moves:

1.Put an educator in charge of Nigeria.

2. Make him a puppet while they ran the country aground by stealing all the money meant for the country (while giving the President his own share of the loot--- usually a "paltry" sum compared to what they were scheming off the top).

3. Get rid of him once he decided he wanted to become his own man.

4. Demonize, to the public, anybody that wants to work for Nigeria. In 1983 it was Awolowo, today it's Buhari.

It's just the same script they've been using to control Nigeria. But the easy spread of information has exposed them because Nigerians now realize that their leaders have been taking advantage of them and they want change.

If Nigeria fails to get it right this time by insisting on a honest man to lead them, there's no doubt that majority of the citizens will remain --- along with future generations --- enslaved for years to come.

But they have been claiming that he earned a Masters Degree from this US War College (USWC) in 1980. This email confirms that the first Masters Degree was awarded at this college in 2000. Even that image laundering write up carried in front page of Saturday, 10th Jan 2015 Sun newspaper, also alluded to this Masters degree.

Does Buhari really possess a Masters Degree from USWC or just a diploma?

What really is going on with Buhari's certificate drama?

Why can't he just come out and publish photocopies of what he has and lay this matter to rest?
Well, common sense will dictate that what he got in 1980, is equivalent to what is being issued in 2000, right?

Read with understanding brother! He never said he was scraping EFCC or ICPC and other similar agencies responsible for arresting and prosecuting corrupt individuals. The core of his statement was that he was going to strengthen institutions or policies and programs that would nip corruption in the bud, that would prevent corruption from happening in the first place, that would block all the loopholes and eliminate public office holders having direct access to cash. On the other hand, it does not mean that the anti corruption agencies would be dormant or they would not arrest and prosecute culpable individuals.

People need to learn how to read and digest information with open mind, not biased and already made up mind. That way, no matter what, you would fail to get the essence of the message, on the contrary would be looking for faults and loopholes
"Strengthen Institutions" indeed!

How do you strengthen institutions if you don't encourage them to apprehend offenders?

Ermenegildo Zegna doesn't make suits for that much. £17000?! I don't know why Nigerians love lying and inflating the prices of their purchases as if information is not readily available with just a click of the mouse or a phone call. If he'd even said $5,000 (because he claims its handmade)then it'd have been more believable. I guess because they believe most Nigerians are uninformed and will believe all their lies.

That Suit is NOWHERE close to the amount claimed!

Tell me, the supposed insults you dished out how have they affected me? How have they proven your argument except to show that intellectually, you're abysmally poor.

We were talking about Mr.Umar Dikko, weren't we?

Anyway, So you assume that in the 70's Nigerians were so established/connected here that one of them could've committed a crime that warranted that kind of action? You need to learn to argue objectively and stop coming across as insane all the time. Then again, Ive seen your picture and what you look like and I doubt that would be possible for you to do considering how scruffy, unkempt and wild eyed you are.

P.S: Where in the post you quoted did I accuse you of that? Don't let misery and sadness couple with a guilty conscience drive you into madness. I did not choose where you were born, neither did I encourage your Parents to be as ignorant as their offspring ; avoiding a fight for their rights and seeing things only through the prism of religion and tribe. Blame your Parents for your financial and mental poverty, Ive got nothing to do with how your life turned out.

"The national convention hereby resolves that all UPN structures and members nationwide will work for Jonathan" he said.

He lamented that Nigerian politics had become peopled by politicians without ideals or ideology.

"That informs why a politician can be in the ruling party in one minute and suddenly cross-carpets to the opposition party in the next minute and no one would see anything wrong with it.

" We cannot afford to run the country this way and UPN has come to change the game," he said.

You want to change the game because the country needs to change how its run but you endorse the ruling party and are fighting for the President to continue; what is "change" about that?

Theres absolutely no doubt in my mind that a good amount of Nigerians have mental issues that affect them in thinking logically.
Politics › Re: Opposition Candidate Beats Sri Lankan President In Poll by ISpiksDaTroof: 6:57pm On Jan 09, 2015
dulaman:
Sri Lanka’s Mahinda Rajapakse has conceded defeat in presidential elections, officials said Friday, after a bitter campaign that saw Asia’s longest-serving leader brought down by allegations of corruption and a failure to bring about post-war reconciliation.
After the island’s tightest presidential vote in decades, a top aide to Rajapakse said the one-time strongman accepted the decision of voters who turned out in force on Thursday.

“The president concedes defeat and will ensure a smooth transition of power, bowing to the wishes of the people,” presidential press secretary Vijayananda Herath told AFP, adding that he had already vacated his main official residence in a symbolic gesture of defeat.

Official sources said opposition presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena, a former minister who united a fractured opposition to pull off an unlikely victory, had an unassailable lead in results announced so far.

With nearly a third of the ballots officially declared, Sirisena has 52.49 percent of the vote and Rajapakse 46.21 percent.

“The president has seen a clear majority for the opposition candidate and there is no way to overcome that,” a source close to the outgoing president said.

Herath said Rajapakse had conceded defeat during a meeting with Ranil Wickremesinghe, who leads the opposition in parliament and who Sirisena has said would be appointed as his prime minister.

Opposition lawmaker Harsha de Silva said transitional arrangements were being discussed with Rajapakse, and that Wickremesinghe had “guaranteed him and his family security”.

There was no immediate comment from Sirisena who was still at his private home in Polonnaruwa, east of the capital Colombo.

– International pressure

Rajapakse had seemed assured of victory when he called snap polls in November seeking an unprecedented third term, five years after crushing a violent separatist rebellion that had traumatised the country for decades.

But he has become unpopular in recent years, dogged by accusations of increasing authoritarianism and corruption, and a failure to reach out to minority Tamils after a decades-long civil war.

Sirisena’s surprise decision to defect from the government and stand against him galvanised disparate opposition groups.

Despite sporadic campaign violence including the death of one opposition party worker, the vote passed off largely peacefully, although there were some reports of intimidation in Tamil areas.

Police said they had made 175 election-related arrests, but described the polls as some of the most peaceful in Sri Lanka’s recent history.
http://saharareporters.com/2015/01/09/opposition-candidate-beats-sri-lankan-president-poll
I remember making an example of this a few months back on this site. This will also happen in Nigeria. Only difference is Preside Jonathan's defeat will be crushing, then he'll encourage his people to start a rebellion which will lead him to The Hague in the end. At least those are the events I forsee from his language and posture in recent days.

You accosted somebody to the embassy and he willingly offered himself for arrest. What were you expecting him to do, blow up the place?......You're not very a smart person at all then ,if you can't tell when a criminal has been cornered that he is left with no choice than to surrender.

And if I may I get you clearly ,you actually took someone away from Nigeria without the idea of the host country?....isn't that kidnapping even if it is legal in US does that make it legal in Nigeria?
You're one of those iidiots that has been helping the West in messing up with the sovereignty of African countries just to get that useless paper you call passport?.....You're a disgrace to the black race, people like Malcolm X will refer to you as a ''House Negro" grin.

I'll rather remain under a corrupt Blackman than be doing anything just to please that old pale thing you call white man.

You deserve to be hanged for kidnapping a brother.
Where do I even start to respond to this nonsense? You know it's ok to concede when you've been defeated than to try to wiggle your way out of a Web only to entangle yourself even more.

How do you know my race? How do you know the race of the person that surrendered? Who told you lobbying is the same as corruption? Stop trying to pretend like you know how the system works out here. So, you're trying to tell me that when your corrupt President, his cronies and your politicians dip their hands in the Treasury and steal money meant for the people that's lobbying?

The rest of what you wrote did nothing but to further expose your ignorance. Youre not intelligent and have proven to be a waste of time. People like you will ensure Nigeria never reaches it's full potential.

You're not too smart are you?

Listen, and listen carefully, when I worked in the Justice Department we sometimes went overseas and did what was called "Extraordinary Renditions" on international soil. Basically, what that means is that we conducted a secret operation (which is legal under U.S. law) where we snatch up a fugitive and secretly lead him out of the country back to the United States without the knowledge of the host country. My second trip to your country back in the 70's was to supervise such operation, but the fugitive willingly surrendered at the Embassy (when he discovered the Marshals were on his tail) and was flown back to the United States to face justice.

The truth is, discussing with you lot is a waste of time because you're blinded by the ignorance of Religion and Tribalism, just like you trying to convince me otherwise is a waste of time because I'm "blinded" by forthrightness, Justice, accountability, respect for the rule of law and equality for all.

That is not how to fight corruption. Corruption is low in developed countries not because the people are saints, but because the institutions has made it absolutely impossible for them to embezzle public funds.
That is what GEJ is trying to do and he has succeeded in some sectors.
T
So you make "Institutions strong" by refusing to prosecute cases, charge culprits, or encourage that they be convicted with the stiffest penalties possible meted out to those found guilty? You fight corruption by condemning the attempted abduction of one of the most notorious embezzlers in the 2nd Republic? GEJ is a joker.

But just because of his humility and his hunger to follow the rule of law they labelled him clueless, now that the chips are down the C-IN-C has spoken let APC say theirs without their usual negative rhetorics filled with insults and name calling.
So its humility and "rule of law" that says a whole President should strongly discourage the arrest and imprisonment of Government officials that tamper with the Nation/State's Funds?

The presidential elections is no longer about if Jonathan has performed or not, or about what Buhari will do or not do if he wins. The Presidential elections has now become a battle of the South and East of Nigeria against the west and North of Nigeria for political control. As an Igbo man, nobody expects me to support a Hausa/Fulani man over my South-south neigbour particularly when that Hausa/Fulani man is an accomplished coup plotter, tested tyrant and proven religious bigot. I have no doubt in my mind that if Jonathan had been a Yoruba man, there would have been no APC (we all remember how the Yorubas rallied around Obasunjo for him to win a second term even though his first term was a monumental disaster). If Jonathan had been a Hausa man, the North would have crucified Buhari for mounting any challenge against Jonathan. But because Jonathan is a south-South man,the Yorubas and their Northern allies have found a common cause to vilify his administration and have united to conscript power back for themselves. In other words,as long as a Yoruba man or northerner is in charge, all is well. But should an Igbo man or South-south man be in charge, that's when they remember "Sai this" and "Sai that". Who is fooling who here? I and my fellow Igbos are going to vote massively for Jonathan as will the south-South. With portions of the middle belt,PDP strongholds in the north and west will just be enough for Jonathan to clear up this election and be sworn in a second term. Jonathan till 2019!!!!
This is why I say Ibos are idiots, and the Yorubas and Hausas are even bigger idiots. You, as an Ibo man, will admittedly not vote for a Northerner or Westerner regardless of their pedigree, but you hope that those same people will vote for you so that you can remain in power to continue oppressing and insulting them?

Then you have amongst the Yorubas and Hausas those that can't see that you've declared war on them as a group and are only willing to elect your "Brother" so long as it will spite their Regions.

I think, though, that you are in for a rude awakening.
