I have never seen any Uber driver that is willing to wait for 1 hour for you online. grin

If paid waiting was worth it, people for dey readily accept such offers
For where?

Even 10 minutes self he would have started grumbling cheesy

That's why I was surprised reading that Bolt would have given a driver more than 18k. Had to bring out my calculator to confirm

If you book a bolt driver on App from morning till 3pm. You will pay more than 18k. Surge or no surge sir. When the paid waiting is activated (Since it's home to Luth and wait. Then the rider would put a stop which starts counting once they get to Luth) so by 3pm he would be handling with transfers of excess of 18k

No Cap
By my calculations, no way. This is what I have on my bolt App.

If he picks him at 7am and they return by 3pm, total time is 8 hours or 480 minutes. At 13 naira per minute charge, the amount is N6,240. By the time you add for the actual distance covered, he will be lucky to earn 10k on bolt.

Except the charges per minute in Lagos is double that of PH

Insurance can only take care of the vehicle, I think what he's saying is other factors like kidnapping, driver running away with goods, drivers siphoning diesel etc. Those other factors u don't have control over it and they will surely affect ur cashflow and payback period for the loans u accessed from the banks
Insurance is flexible enough and does not just take care of the vehicle. You can insure the goods being transported.

Standard logistics firms like DHL insure their goods so if the driver runs away with it or any other thing happens, they turn to insurance.

And when you say kidnapping, do you mean like the driver getting kidnapped?

Na brave guys dey do that business for Naija. It's a tight margin business but predictable. However in a setting where you can lose 1 in 10 trucks to Nigerian roads be it accident, vigilantes, bad roads, poor drivers, kidnappers, not to mention drivers probably siphoning diesel, I wonder how they plan out their cash flow and payback periods on trucks. Too many variables dey Naija setting
You can mitigate most of this by comprehensive insurance with excess buyback. I doubt anyone will be stupid enough to put a truck on Naija roads without insurance.

How much do you think a Bolt guy will take for such? I go to Abk for 25/30k anything less then that? Forget it. I have a client I use to take to airport for 6k, not up to 20 mins. With time he start giving me 4k to 3k... mo ya run away before e enter 2k. I realise he start using someone I know that takes low. I felt like telling the guy, but something just ask me to ignore. If they both like there business, happy for them.

I use to tell clients transport business does not have a fixed price. It is all about your negotiation prowess. Same ride you will take for 10, someone will do it for 4k. I have my price and won't do what I'll regret and won't advice them to do what they will regret too. That 18k, someone will glady take 10k for it. Never a fixed price boss.
It's not a question of much a bolt guy will take for such. Its a question of the amount bolt will charge for such. The comparison is between the amount Taxi cabs charge and what bolt charges. The main point is to show that bolt is still cheap regardless of the increased earnings.

People still use them oh

Right while i was waiting for my guest, buses dropped off passengers and they were using Baba Iyabo.

If Baba Iyabo can do 3 trips in a day, he will net what more than 80% of Bolt drivers have been labouring since 6am.

It's good that Bolt is allowing 1998 models. Those kind of cars are what is commensurate with their fares, tbh
The cab that used to take my friend to Luth charges 18k daily. He picks him up in the morning, waits for him and latest by 3pm, he's back. He said the driver buys fuel of 3k and pockets 15k daily. Soft work cheesy. Imagine the mountains a Bolt driver will move to net 15k

When I asked why he doesn't use Bolt, he said the road to the place he was staying was bad and quite some distance from the main road. It was very difficult if not impossible getting a bolt driver.

By the time.you spend 3 hour completing a trip.of 3k with Car Uber driving your eye go clear, by then you'd appreciate your earning with with your bike with no traffic.

Only thing is, the bike is.mote risky when compared to driving a car. Just be careful I'm your driving bro, stay glue to your dispatch business.

A Corolla now cost a minimum of 3.6m for a toks.
That's about 5 bikes in your fleet. With proper management... I think you're better of than the Uber car.
I do agree with you that the bike thing is definitely more profitable but remember he won't make the same money giving out the bikes as he's making riding himself.

By the way, this new pencil light thing is really great. He no longer has to spend 3.6m getting a corolla. And if demand for pencil light goes up, people will still tend to avoid baby boy due to bad rep.

It is disingenuous to assume that atiku looked at the competition he had up north and also saw that Obi had 2 regions on lock down for regions that had voted for him before and said he didn't care.
We all knew the SS and SE were not going to affect tinubu as much and it was atiku that it would affect most..

Simple...... out of G5, four are southern Governors. Atiku gave up on South and would rather use home advantage to win it.

We saw what he did at Arewa House while addressing Northern Elders. Thanks to El-Rufai that disrupted his plans.
Exactly. They thought they had Buharis 11m votes on lockdown cheesy

Another argument is that the PDP is a useless opposition party. If anyone can go the length to dig deep against OBI, it's the APC. See how LP is even doing all the attack against APC while the useless PDP is nowhere to be found.

He is not.

If you followed PDP pre election, you'll know what he said is very valid.

The thinking within PDP was that Atiku had the North on lockdown and that Obi and BAT will share southern votes. They said history showed that anytime two southerners contest against a Northerner the Northerner always wins.

When people talk about the bolded, I can't even quantify the amount of anger I feel towards such people and their line of reasoning.

I remember my old man once telling me about a statement Gowon was credited to have made that Money is not Nigeria's problem, but how to spend it is. Initially I thought my old man was just repeating what has been thrown over and over in the media space without any prove that Gowon did said that; but I later came across a thread on nairaland where it reported that Gowon actually admitted making the statement in the 70's.

https://www.nairaland.com/979808/money-not-problem-how-spend

It's funny that till date, that statement is still valid. The few states doing capital projects trying to solve some of our innumerable problems do so at a very high cost that doesn't even make any economic sense cos same projects cost lesser elsewhere apart from Nigeria. The just pad project costs without conscience while the other state governors don't even bother doing anything and just swallow the monies out rightly or buy overpriced assets in the name of the government that has no second hand value.

When I see people encouraging Nigerian Government to generate more revenue through more taxation blah blah blah.... i just feel they don't pay tax here and get to see how government waste their money on frivolities.

I remember Ajimobi vs Yinka Ayefele issue in Oyo state back then. Ayefele fell out with Ajimobi who was angry he(Ayefele) used his ownership of media organization to oppose him(Ajimobi) and support his political rival Alao-Akala. Ajimobi brought out state environmental law and had a portion of Ayefele's media house demolished citing he contravened some physical planning rule.

They later settled their differences and Ajimobi's government used state funds to restore and rebuild some parts of the building the government earlier put down. I wonder what those who pay tax in Oyo state will be thinking that time. How does a government use my money to demolish a premises and still use my money to restore it ?
You are absolutely right. Most of the proponents of the more tax more revenue are not in the country cheesy

I guess it's easier to sit somewhere and wish more tax on struggling citizens when the one they even pay is being stolen right before their very eyes.

Look at the governor of a state like Zamfara stealing 70bn. How much do you think the Wikes, Udoms, Okowas have stolen? Perhaps, this why none of them is going to the senate. They have enough money to last 10 generations.

No one should even come with that Nigeria is not generating enough revenue or not collecting enough tax again. Even if that is true, no way things are this bad if our politicians have any atom of conscience in them.

Boss, my car once overheated, and it turns out i didn't close the radiator well. The temperature gauge did not go up, but i notice the sound of the engine have changed. So i parked and when i open my hood, there was no single water in the radiator. Though that was my first time of experiencing such, so I think the guy is correct.
Some people have sworn a pact with ignorance. They will rather stay in that comfort zone than seek knowledge.

The first time it happened, my wife was the one driving. The radiator was punctured by God knows what, coolant was lost and the car overheated till the engine shut down. She swore the temperature guage didn't rise but I never believed her. I thought she must have missed it.

One day, I rushed out to pick the children from school. On my way back, my RPM started fluctuating and it looked like the engine was going to shut down. Thankfully I was in the street. Managed it to the house, opened the bonnet and lo and behold, I didn't return the radiator cap when I opened it to check coolant level before I rushed out. In all of these, the temperature guage didn't rise an inch.

I am absolutely certain the guage is working as it should because the other time I had issues with my fan, the guage worked and I saw it rise.

Are you sure your ect sensor wasn’t already on its last legs at the time? Because the other regular Hondas I know usually react to even the slightest rise in temperature on its guage in real-time.
I don't think so. From what I read at the time, the ECT sensor uses the temperature of the coolant to control the temperature guage. Does it not then mean that if there's a rapid loss of coolant, the ECT sensor has nothing to work with.
