NYSCRe: NYSC To Post Youth Corpers To Farms by iukpe: 9:18pm On May 31, 2017
Lets stop beating about the bush on this NYSC thing, its either we modernize it to deal with our time or it should be thrown to the bin.

What I think a real orientation camp program should involve at least not limited to these
1. Entrepreneurs, Industrialists and multinational companies should be mandated by law to participate more in the NYSC process right from the camp not just through lectures but actually involving corpers in projects and research work being handled by these companies in all fields like construction, medicare, agriculture, education, media houses, sales, Nollywood etc.
2. Employers should go through a simple registration process and satisfy a certain minimum criteria among welfare and financial support for the corps member. The employers should be encouraged to visit or connect with camps through labor or skill fair organised by the NYSC body.
3. NYSC camps should have project stations to encourage corpers develop ideas towards being better professionals and leaders and more emphasis should be given to real programs that involves merit awards at the end of the service year.

Get a PhimoTech Rechargeable Motion Detection Alarm System. The system will sound a loud siren even in darkness when there is movement around your home, store, warehouse, farm or equipment area where it is installed.
AC mains powered models also available for areas where there is constant electricity. It can assist community vigilante in monitoring creepy movement around the neighborhood or street corners.
Standby time up to 48 hours without any alarm.

CrimeRe: I Was Raped By Brother-in-law On Trip To Naija by iukpe: 7:10am On May 28, 2017
Tanna:
My husband has not been home in 15 years so we went to Abuja to visit. I met all the family and had a great time. Everyone complimented me on how pretty I was, so when his particular brother always looking at me lustfully - I ignored it - and try not to have a big head for being attractive.

My husband and I were given this brother's room to stay for our visit. The night before we came back to the US. he and all his brothers, and cousins, and old pals from school went out to party and drink. This one brother came back to the house early because he had work the next day.

He came into the bedroom and I was there asleep. At first I thought it was my husband, but
the way he approach me for sex was not my husband style - and my husband already told me no sex for us in his family's house.

I said "Who is this?" - he said "I know you want me - i've been catching your eye too". He was very drunk I think from the smell of his breath. This man forced himself on me sexually. I DID Fight him to get off me, but I never screamed because I did not want to wake the house or be caught in this horrible situation. Finally I lay there and hoped it would end quickly.

Later My hubby came back and I pretended to be asleep. I was shocked.

The next day we were at the airport to fly back to the US. I was very quiet and acting sad He thought I was just sick.

I never told my husband what happened. I was too scared and ashamed. The thought that I would even claim this has happened to me would tear his family apart - and he was just seeing them after 15 years of absence.

Now it's 3 months later and I am pregnant. My husband had a vasectomy 3 years ago so I cannot tell my husband I am pregnant - talk less of saying I am pregnant cause his own flesh and blood attacked me during our trip to his home.

I don't know if this brother planned to do this since I was leaving the country the next day, or maybe because he was drunk and knew no better - I really do not care. I feel like a used animal and my husband may beat or divorce me when he learns I am pregnant because he will think I have committed adultery.

WHAT DO I DO?
What you do is to think of a better story next time. You are not even married, No experience. You didn't scream or jump out of bed, certainly he would have to consider the implications of raping you. LIES- FIXED!!!

The NPF needs to take the recent reports against SARS operatives seriously. I think first of all the police need to be civil in their approach to matters that involve the public and always try to maintain calm, they will certainly get the support of peaceful law abiding citizens in their query or inquiry.
It is wrong to attack a police office who is armed, he has no option but to fire shots.

NYSCRe: Corpers Sleep Outside As Lagos NYSC Camp Becomes Overcrowded (Photos) by iukpe: 1:45pm On May 27, 2017
Mophasa:
Am yet to understand what this scheme contributes to Nigerian youths, because the country is still very much divided than ever before after almost 30 years of the scheme

The NYSC has outlived it's relevance, it's currently one of the many draining pipes used to siphon public funds for some corrupt individuals

It doesn't add any value to our lives, wastes our time and subject youths to different levels of risks and dangers

It's not surprising that it's only a stupid country like Nigeria with visionless leadership that operates the mandatory NYSC scheme, no wonder we can never develop and will always remain a third world country with the way the country is being run

I felt like the biggest boy during my time as a corper but later realised that I just wasted 365 days of my life for nothing angry

#ScrapNysc
Ok let me explain, the scheme only makes them realize the truth more than ever.

First of all the scheme exposes corpers to the truth about how disorganized things are in the country so they will not imagine that the school authorities were only acting dumb with facilities on campus.

Secondly it should stir up their reasoning on what the solution can be to put things right and their own contributions if any.

I was particularly disappointed when I arrived camp many years ago to find out that there were a lot of infrastructural lapses and maintenance issues which appeared to me like it could be handled as projects on camp involving corps members to improve on the welfare state of the camp.
With a little funds, a good idea and mobilization corpers could work with experienced contractors on projects designed to improve the first facility that graduates are welcomed into. To me NYSC camps would be a place where model ideas are tapped and corpers can show some of what they are good at.

Op, holding an umbrella for a senior govt official is not a duty, it is a privilege, I don't see what the big deal here is, if you're a gentleman with respect and honour, you hold umbrella out for them, whether they be women, governor, or children, stop politicising everything.
Op, even if na you, you go hold pass umbrella, stop being more catholic than the pope.
Its only our leaders who can show humility and do some of those things themselves. Afterall walking round a pleasure park I built and will be commissioning in a few hours and not yet open to the public as the governor i wouldn't need all those policemen walking beside me. I would want to go around myself.
However my staff would insist to help me with an umbrella when its raining and I am walking to the car, I most times prefer to just dash in the rain and jump in the car.

Too costly. Besides that, if you install it in Nigeria you will need to pay about 3 Mopol every night to guard it. You will need to add one generator with operating costs or a suitable solar panel, inverter and batteries.

tragic! If we fail on our own part as humans you can't blame God or say is his will.. God wouldn't do the things within our own capabilities, carry fuel around is way to dangerous
You said it all. Most of our daily actions have hazard levels that needs to be managed constantly and carefully as we carry out our activity. Therefore some things should not be performed by very ignorant people, risking the lives of many others. Unfortunately in Nigeria transportation and petrol hawking are carried out by very ignorant people. Similar incident occurred in PH once when two bikes collided into an explosion because one was carrying petrol.

It's dishonesty that has made us a country with a currency lesser in value than Ghana.
No just honesty, but if Nigerians glorify right against wrong or evil, the country will be a better place. many people are ready to go into conspiracy just to take what is not theirs, especially youths of today.

Just how did we get to this in Nigeria? Is there no one, no authority ordained by God to fix our problem?
I know the solution to our country's problem and most of us do because we know the problem, but who will fix it.
I cannot fix the problem because I am simply not in charge of the resources to do it.
When things are wrong in the land, people rise up to action. What else do we want to see?
Who are the people in charge?
Any government that jokes with missing 280 children will fail in protecting 100 million citizens.

Youths and citizens. In a country where there is no hope for a better tomorrow, no money, no life, no homes, no jobs, no education, no welfare.
A few are living well through their own very hard work and a very few are living large through dirty politics, sharp practices and crime.
How can we save our youth? Through a real re-orientation, to correct the effects of the psychological trauma caused by several socio-political, socio-mental, socio-ethnical events and believes.
If this is not done now what kind of society will we all live in tomorrow?

God bless you, if there is no police extract or other concrete evidence to show that his phone was actually stollen, the guy should be bundled into the next flight. I am still waiting to see how the Nigerian authority will react to this irrespective of his claim. the girl's life is in danger because she was threatened, that should not be allowed to go like that unless concrete evidence of lost of phone is presented.
Well, the evidence that his phone was stolen is very unlikely to be posted here. Besides if you read the facebook chat again, there was a sharp deviation from a regular chat to a Nigerian street man's abuse and calling the lady "Aunty", why would the man call her that? the sudden abuses that followed were just the actions of a looser or someone who probably wanted to robb the lady too. If you change the sim in your phone and get back your data connection, your facebook will still work if you logged in with your email address not the mobile number, like me. I just feel the man could have improved on his security more. This is a lesson for us all.
Like it or not facebook is used by a lot of inexperienced online users who do not know how much of their information is exposed to many.
Web security is very important today.
