There must be a problem with their food then, A restaurant is supposed to be proud of their display with no reason to harass customers. |
Nigerian government should have acted decisively against kidnapping over 10 years ago, instead they seemed to paint a picture that it was merely disputes between oil companies and local communities in the Niger Delta, and urged companies to pay ransom or settle with the communities, they failed to understand the negative effect of encouraging such things. Our government simply groomed, Kidnapping just like they did for Militancy and cultism which started in our universities, now its in villages and homes. How are we handling other vices like Terrorism, armed robbery, 419ing, ritual killings, jungle justice, organised crime and corruption etc? |
soberdrunk:...if he is not one of them............ |
S the ministry of defence can keep bombs and war planes anywhere they like. 17000 bombs and 44000 bombs found in Owerri. Meanwhile 40bN found in apartment in Lagos. Afterwards no news. |
fyneguy:I think the Minister could have said, 1. Nigerian Engineers will henceforth build our railway system. 2. We are embarking on a joint venture with foreign experts in construction of modern railway system as our technology development plan. As a minister he has the duty to improve the skills in the country for that industry. |
Again crowd tampering with evidence at the crime scene in Nigeria. It look like every place is a crime scene anyway. |
eezeribe:Are you saying that the cheap buses do not have anti collision devices like other ones, or the expensive buses would have avoided this accident? I think the problem on our roads or the commercial transport system are the drivers, the training and the process used by transport operators to recruit drivers. When people put the lives of commuters and road users at risk it is a crime. If the truck driver and the bus driver applied caution, observed speed limits or showed some hesitation in what ever situation caused this accident to happen could have averted this crash, the worst could have been a mere bumper to bumper smash. We all know the state of our roads in the country. However, we must use them. Why cant we all use our bad roads and stay alive? |
Bluffly:Engineers in the USA just do not build bridges, submarines, Airbus and spaceships from their salaries, these projects like railways, power stations require a lot of financial resources to muster the design fabrication, prototype testing, model construction, testing and actual project implementation. Only governments or large financial loans can foot such bills. And who says safety is a guarantee? can you remember the NASA space ship challenger, and the accident that occurred at launch. That wasn't their first or last. It was not out of poor design or incompetency and I am sure NASA and the USA government have taken measures to prevent such an occurrence in future. The fact is, there is nothing holding back the minister from saying that "Nigerian Engineers will now build our railway system". The minister, if he is technologically sound, should have the basic idea of what a railway system is all about. He will then proceed to look inwards for capable persons who can come up with the needed design ideas, who are capable of making recommendations to the resources available in our country that can be pulled together for such a project. He will further build up a basic plan for the project startup, which will involve fabrications and assembly of parts needed to build railway equipment. Our government need to invest in home made technology for big things. The North Korean nuclear technology is built by North Koreans, they cannot afford to have foreigners involved in such a project. The missing thing in our country is not the knowledge, it's the opportunity. We are used to importing technology, right from time and the risk is that we will always import technology especially at the rate technology is changing or evolving in every field. We need to start so we can catch up someday. Our railway system like Innoson vehicles you refer to may not be the best looking railway coaches or tracks at first build but all technology products start from somewhere to what you see and call modern today, cars from Mercedes, BMW etc are looking sleek and sweet every year because most times they just put a new body over the same frame while they develop a new frame. same thing with phones. Remember the Tecno mobile 15 years ago, I wouldn't buy a Tecno, It used to be a very weak, china product that would fail any day, with its 2 or 3 sim. We can make it if we try, building technology for ourselves. Nigerian engineers can build powers stations, warships, planes etc, if the government focuses on supporting indigenous technology. And that is the first step to over come failures because we will easily identify the problem within the design, the weak part of our product, that is causing the failure and make it stronger, hence a more reliable product at the end that we can sell to other nations. I have built and fabricated a few things myself since childhood. I studied mechanical engineering, but I love electronics. In 1987 I built my first FM transmitting station on campus and continued to develop my design till 1994 when the NYSC sponsored my project to build and install an FM station on the NYSC camp in Kwara state through Colonel Sofoluwe who was the DG of the scheme at that time. That wouldn't have been possible on my own. I was not presented with an award even at that. In 1998 I built a transistor UPS inverter which I powered a few appliances in my room using old car batteries and this were not inventions but things I made myself using components manufactured by other people and available in the market or some from scraps. I still build things to day with a lot of ideas but you only stop at designs and a few prototypes because big cash makes things real. Innoson will soon become one of the leading auto manufacturers in Africa in a few years as soon as they can break even and begin to produce cars at a price people are willing to try. If an Innoson brand new car goes for N1m or N600k I am sure people will begin to think again. What our government or ministers need to do is to move into Innoson and subsidize their manufacturing so they can roll out vehicles at unbelievable prices such that Nigerian can try them out, this will give Innoson the opportunity to discover the areas of improvement in their design and give them the needed resources to get better. Nigeria can make it, our leaders do not believe in the country, all they want is to make money from contract! contract!! contract!!! |
Madness!!!!! |
Amaechi is totally wrong here. Speaking as an engineer, what is in a railway system? What is in building a track worthy train? I do not see any giant task in that such that a minister will think Nigerian engineers cannot handle it. Nigerian engineers and technologists are very capable of building our power stations, trains and railways, waste incinerators, buses and boats etc, all from scratch. This is a big excuse to spend some forex just for nothing. This is why engineers should be transport, energy, petroleum, aviation ministers etc. Just like you cannot believe heart transplant is possible when your not a surgeon or medical expert. |
I think I like this fashion-NYSC thing. At least she is not going to get molested for wearing an "NYSC camouflage". |
cute! For pet lovers, this is a thing of envy. for a lady, overwhelming. Nigerians are too rigid, no time for rare things that open the mind. |
Again, no ambulance, even from FRSC. Who invented the hilux? |
All I see is a lady who has successfully created a trending / viral post. 1. That's not how you make food, with rats boiled whole with the hairs on the skin. If it was to be a real rat soup, she would have roasted the rats at least the hairs would be off. 2. The belly would have been cut open and the meat cleaned or at least cut into bite size pieces. 3. The meal would not be eaten from a rough pan like that with disgusting looking swallow on the side as if thrown into the pan from the bin. 4. The soup would look like soup, not just colored rat liquid with whole peppers drooped in. Where's the onions, oil and other things that would gave added to make it a meal. Therefore this is but a picture well created just to draw amazement and comments. QED |
The way people are dying these days I think we are seeing the rapture, after-all people will not walk to heaven, doesn't really matter how you die. |
PENGASSEN, NUPENG and students have done this before IPOB. |
A wake up call for youths to storm the political arena. I hope sensible ones come up. |
Finally what will educate people most is to find the woman's home and speak with relatives, else people will stick to what they believe. |
zionmade:I have made a similar comment earlier, what I think is that Nigeria is running out of the time where our society can be corrected. Churches, NGOs, political parties etc etc, should reach out to youths and Nigerians generally as a means of restoring hope in lives, as a means of reassuring people that there is a good reason for hard work and positive thinking and a reward to it. Government and politicians, no matter their tribe or background should embrace right and merit for the sake of the future and make rewards seen for hard work and people who have gone through any form of education should be encouraged with some kind of employment or welfare. Our politicians are only talking about amnesty for militants, terrorists and cultists. What about the graduates and skilled men and women roaming our streets. The Boys and girls whose parents cannot afford them further education because there are no jobs who could easily become terrorists, kidnappers, robbers, prostitutes or cultists soon because of peer pressure? Today government should make education as affordable as possible if not free, then utilize educationally successful youths directly for nation building through infrastructural development, agriculture, civil defense science and technology and education. If we don't do this now, we may never have Nigerians in position, who will know or believe in the things that make other nations great. |
What has samsung tv and dstv decoder got to do with the arrests, did they belong to the victim? |

The more a guy wears, the more attractive he gets. The fewer a woman wears the prettier she becomes. |
byabo:Leave the government out of this one. I have been a fan of RC for years and own a few models, never perfected my skills due to work and time, man must wack, but its a virgin area in our country for enthusiasts. I have imagined an RC club for years but you need the kind of partnership that works from the heart of a few people. We can talk. iukpe@yahoo.com or right here, this thread is for us I believe. |
Guys I had to search for this thread, I am currently working on stuff I need to consult a few guru share a few ideas if any. I have been on Rc models for sometime now though work and work work has put me off the current things. https://www.nairaland.com/154012/rc-hobby#58924452 https://www.nairaland.com/154680/rc-hobby-flight-racing But technology threads if not about phones dont go very far on NL https://www.nairaland.com/416786/why-technology-threads-least-read#58945206 |
PhilipGallagher:When a police officer or security operative draws a weapon at a fleeing suspect and screams stop!!! hold it!!! pointing his weapon, and the suspects continues in his attempt to escape on foot or on a bike or car, what do you think will happen next? " BANG" . Its the standard anywhere in the world and even you would pull the trigger else people will wonder what joke you were trying to unravel. |

Today I am trying to set up a new FS T6 radio and receiver with my fixed esky honey bee heli. After the last crash years ago, i think the receiver malfunctioned and I had all the servos jittering at power up. I am close to what I need with a few following details I will show here eventually. |

The youths have the power to dethrone unperforming tout politicians of today simply with unity and focus. I will like to see businessmen, professionals come out and lead this country in all levels from presidency to councillor. In those days, youths did it via military coup, Obasanjo, Buhari, Ironsi, etc etc. |
Nice move, a little shake up can go a long way. Though some Nigerians are willing to downplay the effects of indiscipline which is eating deep in our system. |
