Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu's Senior Special Assistant on E-Governance (Social Media), Obed Asiegbu, was yesterday, Sunday reportedly attacked by Gunmen attached to City Base filling station located at Aba Road in Umuahia, Abia State.

Though details of the attack have not been made open, the Governor's Aide has this to say as he shared to a friend:

"I am at the CPS, I was attacked by an armed man attached to easy oil filling station on Aba road. He shot at me while I was leaving the station after buying fuel. My car was riddled with bullets. He attempted to kill me with his gun after head butting me. The case has being reported to the police at the moment."

Think there is more to this story. When you say "a gunman attached to a filling station", then that is very direct report. He head-butt you first, then attempted to kill you by shooting several shots at your vehicle, something else may have happened before all that.
Even though attempted murder is a crime but was it in self defense or was the gunman protecting the station?

Now, This is one problem with Nigeria. Many will insult the girl bla bla, but they don't address/ insult the root cause and medium by which the girl got to that platform. Now, what I mean is this.. were there no preliminaries, were there no judges or screening agents. Obviously, she either slept her way through or bribed her way through. Thats the case with many situation/ opportunities/ sectors of the Nigerian economy. Mediocrity is preferred to "meritocracy" as long as one can bribe/ pay a way through. This is why Nigeria is never too far from embarassment. I believe many will remember the Miss Anambra case.

This is a high hazard case. The community or residents could have taken greater responsibility to ensure that the area is sealed off completely till repair is done.

This is a fake story, my friend works in the refinery he just finished telling me the story before I saw this write up. The guys came to use a nearby bank, but as the custom has been ekpan(an uroboh community) and ifie(an itsekiri) community usually get some payment from NNPC for being the host community. The guys been youth of the communities decided to go demand the payment which the army officers opposed. They became hostile which provoked the army at the gate and they got shot. They were 3,the last one got shot on d hand and was rushed to the hospital.

Couldn't the "trained Naval Officers" enforce, storm them and have them arrested?
Did they have to die? We have no value for life. And these young men probably didn't fancy being treated like trash, was it better for them to die?
