Winnin009:The risk of losing them in an ambush is quite high. Secondly, it is primarily an attack helicopter not cargo. I am not saying, it isn't one of the best copters out there. But our primary security challenge are forest-based, mobile and move in large groups. I think mobile threats are best tackled with drones with surveillance and attack capabilities. And given our meagre resources,I am not sure it is the best investment. Perhaps, the military decision makers has a very good reason for their choice. |
RenaissanceGuy:List those 50 FG agencies headquartered in Lagos. Note the word "FG". |
fergie001:I suppose we will be having a second rerun if the election hold without PDP. |
Supremos:Anybody who responds to such "allegation" need their head examined. |
This jobless man may be exhibiting early sign of psychosis. |
Dsimmer:Your darling Ethiopia isn't any better. It desperately needs an economic bailout and BDCs definitely still operate in the country. At no time in recent history did Ethiopia crashed its exchange rate. Educate me if I am wrong. |
SmartyPants:Don't assume everyone hate reading like you do. The article was written in English. The relevant parts were even highlighted for skimmers. All you need do is point out any of my response that is not in the article. |
SmartyPants:Don't assume everyone is like you. The article was written in English. All you need do is point any of my response that were contrary to the author's claim. |
adekolaelect:Yes, it is all about income. If a buyer is willing to pay for a goods or services without being coerced. The supplier is 100% productive. When you remove Teaching and manufacturers many of our sectors are just parasite that doesn't contribute to the bottom line that can grow economy.Teaching and Manufacturing are the only productive sectors? This must be a joke. I suppose, drivers, doctors, farmers and traders are all parasites right? I wonder who is paying the parasites? If you build a huge factory and manufacture millions of items that nobody wants, you are the parasite. An truck pusher is more productive than you are in such case even though you are a "manufacturer". If we are to go by your logic, Nigeria's GDP should about be about $50 billion dollar since your non-parasitic manufacturing sectors contributes less than 10% to our GDP. Teaching doesn't even make a dent. |
westlius:Forex are never paid to the Nigerian govt unless Nigerian government is the seller of the goods and services. Perhaps, you meant tax? |
“It could take months but there could be more dollars swirling around in Nigeria now that the currency is officially very cheap,” Robertson said.Currency devaluation does not increase dollar supply. If it does, most struggling economies will be doing it. The central bank owes about $5bn in mature forward contracts to different groups in the Nigerian economy that sold naira to the bank in exchange for dollars. FIM’s Robertson warned that this backlog would have to be resolved and short term interest rates needed to rise significantly to attract portfolio investorsI remembered how Buhari commended for expelling "corrupt" "portfolio investors". So, we still want them back. On a visit to Nigeria last week, US secretary of state Antony Blinken mentioned that the inability to repatriate capital was an “impediment” to American investors maximising opportunities in Nigeria. This is the crux of the issue. No repatriation, no investment. |
Oyedele said while the unemployment rate in Nigeria is relatively low at 4.2%, most employed Nigerians do not add any meaningful value to the economy. Here we go again. What does he mean by value? If he mean 81% of Nigerian labor force doesn't pay tax, he should come out and state that clearly. Instead of him to confront the misleading 4.1% unemployment figure, he resorts to blaming workers. Even if we assume that all government workers including him are unproductive(that is obviously not true), they don't make up to 5% of Nigerian workforce. So where did he get his 81% from? Unless he wants to argue that the private sector is also paying people for doing nothing. |
Blitzerz:It is alarming because potential kidnappers also read news and they have learnt like most Nigerians that kidnapping is a good way of making huge money without consequence. We read about mass kidnappings but we rarely read about convictions of kidnappers. On the way forward, we need a new law on kidnapping and ransom payments. It should be illegal to pay ransom without involving the police. Secondly, we need forest-based security unit so we can make it harder for the kidnappers to operate. As to the city based kidnappers, those are the easiest to tackle. |
We should be buying more advanced drones, not helicopters. Drones are cheaper to maintain and it saves lives in case of a crash or attack since there are no pilots. |
Dijita:No, the payment isn't in oil. The arms are sold by private companies with the approval of the US government. |
Agboriotejoye:No, he is not right. It is just like claiming that a person who has visited just Cameroon is a globe trotter. I remember when his goons also claimed Niger republic is hitting back at Nigeria by damning river Niger. They failed to state that the damn began more than 5 years before the coup. Lying by omission is also lying. |
Why not file for bail or a fundamental human rights case instead of giving press intervierws? |
Solowise0814:There is no "we" anywhere. You should have learnt that by now. |
IamAtikulate:The problem with local champions like you is that you think every other person is just like you. Your posts have been trashed already and your response have further exposed you as mere political jobber speculating on topic area you are utterly ignorant on. Processing and accepting lies are 2 different things. To a delusional mind like yours, all information are truths and must be accepted! |
princeade86:You must think Nigerians are retards for opposing a policy that dehumanised them. You mean those buying Naira with Naira and collapsing in banks are fools who won't have complained but for politics? Emefiele had no cashless policy, what he did was cash hoarding for electioneering purposes. That is why he kept the cash at the CBN. What does he still need them for after confiscation? Cashless policy would have been better apart from naira redesigned.Explain why it would be better. Why would you want to redesign Naira, when your aim is to confiscate all cash? We want better country, but who don't want to suffer in good ways.We would be foolish to accept suffering so that someone could achieve his political aim. Politicians see us finish. If to say we accepted what he did by then, everyone would have move on.Aren't you contradicting, politician made a decision to hoard cash, you applaud, then you are stylishly insulting those who oppose the measure. We are supposed to fall on our knees and sing your politician's god praises for inflicting suffering on hundreds of millions of people. Even slaves complain when maltreated. |
IamAtikulate:I knew you have nothing upstairs, this just confirmed it. I see your ego is hurt because you thought you will be applauded for posting useless rumors presented as facts here. Let me break it down for you with questions:How is this relevant to the blatant lies and misrepresentation you typed above? 4. Has Benin lifted all suspension of imported goods to Niger from Cotonou port? You made the claim, you provide the source! 5. Is Niger now going to export their crude through Cotonou? When is now? currently, 1 year or 5 years time? FYI, discussions on Niger-Benin crude pipeline has been in the works years before the coup plotters strike. Again, show that Benin republic now enjoys a increased crude export from Niger, post-coup. 6. Is going behind ECOWAS to lift suspensions on Niger imports, when you know that most of those goods traditionally pass through Nigerian ports, not sabotage? You are lying once more. Prove me wrong by showing any reliable source that claims that Benin republic have lifted all suspensions on Niger imports. Contrary to your claims. Benin has always been a major transit route for Niger goods. 7. Doesn't Nigeria export nearly $200m worth of goods to Niger? How is this relevant ? Your topic claim that Benin is sabotaging Nigeria. No need for epistle, just show evidence that Benin republic's export of goods to Niger has increased post-coup. That should not be too hard for you omnipresent itinerant to do, should it? Next time, choose your audience wisely when concocting fairy tales. |
Why is nobody challenging this beer parlor gist from the OP? @IamAtikulate provide a reliable source for your information for the so-called Benin sabotage. The ECOWAS resolution is public document. Kindly educate on the part of the resolution that Benin Republic has reneged on. I am sure you are not aware that some goods meant for Benin Republic are actually through Lagos. |
dalebrown:Nobody started kidnapping. If there is the equivalent word "kidnap" in your local language. The "east" would have to travel back in time to teach your ancestors about it. |
Blitzerz:Naira redesign was not responsible for the drop in kidnappings. Even if you are right, you will be redesigning currency every 6 months. |
fergie001:I can't see PDP being excluded in that pic. Do you mean PDP also included? |
hmm |
victorv12:It seems you guys just learnt the word "hatred" I am not sure you can write 2 sentences without it. Now back to the topic. Don't be silly. The police and DSS do not answer to anybody but Tinubu. So, Tinubu is 100/% responsible for all our current security and economic problems. He should resign if he thinks otherwise. |
9japride:It seems you don't know Abacha. He was only interested in threats to his power or purse. If the bandits would have threatened his hold on power, then he would have acted decisively. |
NextAbuja:Go play with your mates. |
Evilthoughts:See this imbe cile living in delusional fantasy. Your schizophrenia must be really strong to lie shamelessly as you did. Don't skip your meds next time! |
No local airline will be designated as a national carrier, I will not do it. We will establish a proper national carrier and people are talking to us, the Arabs are talking to us, the Chinese are talking to us, the Americans are talking to us on this already. It is either Keyamo is being deceived or he is planning a mass heist. The Chinese, Arabs or the Americans don't run charities, they will never invest in a market where they can't repatriate their profits. Nigeria needs no national carrier which serve no purpose but bragging rights. Enough of the debts! |
BabaAduras:While those people were stealing your future, they grew the FX from $5.3 to a whooping $53 bilion dollars when oil price was mostly below $50. The saints with lower subsidy can't save even $1 million dollar and are taking massive dollar debts to stay afloat. You see how illogical you sound? It is not your fault, economics can be challenging. You will be here to type the same nonsense in 2027, even though nothing would have changed. |
