lonelydora: I gave up on Nigeria in 2007 when I was still job hunting. I wrote NEMA exam with one Ahmed. After finishing mine on time, I took Ahmed's paper and helped him write his. Because of time constraints, i managed to write just 15 questions for him out of 60 questions. There's no way he could have passed that exam.
Two weeks later, Ahmed called me that he has gotten the job with NEMA, that he went to meet one Alhaji in NEMA immediately after that exams same day and cried to him he didn't write well. The Alhaji took pity on him and collected his name and phone number and promised to help him as long as he's from North. Alhaji finally helped him. I couldn't eat throughout that day because of anger.
I still thank God for not getting it shaa, maybe by now, I would have been in Borno packaging dead bodies who died from suicide bombing or sharing food and aids in one of the IDP camps in North. You helped Ahmed to write his paper when he deserved to fail ? Then you are angry that he was appointed when he shouldn't have been ? How are you any different from the Alhaji ? |

kjhova: IMHO, the real problem with the black man is folks like you. I say this because your post reeks of ignorance about the issues surrounding the withdrawal of Etisalat from the franchise and the take over of the company by local creditors which resulted in the change of management and name change.
The company is indebted to near insolvency, the banks and other local creditors seized the company from the original investors and is trying possible best to salvage the company and recover their funds. Of course, a very likely fall out of such scenario will be an initial drop in standards as additional funds need to be sourced and technical positions left open by withrawal of Etisalat staff need to be filled.
To jump on this situation as confirmation of something wrong with your black skin or your brain is the highest form of self deprecation i ever encountered in my lifetime!!
Didn't Enron go burst? Or Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae??
These were big companies ran by white Americans! I sure didn't hear anyone condenm white people for these failures!!
Why, pray someone tell me, do black Africans feel so self assured of their inferiority and incapacities as humans?? Do you really hate yourseves these much?? I am not surprised that this post comes from the OP, being a white supremacist have its perks and this post is one of them. It may be impossible to significantly reduce the pathological inferiority complex suffered by many black men, some have advocated education but the kind of education we have, teaching people how to read and write, has resulted in little to no improvement because many can read but cannot think. He got 56 likes for his post, meaning 56 people agreed that the black man has an innate problem and he is so stupid that he is incapable of managing his own affairs. If an Indian or a Chinese had authored this post, many of those who agrees with it would have shouted "racist". |

Statsocial: Agreed, Oxford admits the best of the best. But that can't be said of the likes of Coventry, Lancaster, Uni of Western London which are average by UK standard and don't necessarily admit the best-you know for most of these UK unis all u need is your own personal funding and an average result. Yet those universities also record outstanding performances. Do you have any data for the class results of those "average" UK universities compared to the top ones ? Also, the percentage of "natives" in those Unis, needs to be examined. From experience, I have discovered that simple numbers can't be explained simplistically, there is usually more to it than meets the eye. |
Education › Re: Abia State University Graduates 4,447, Records 15 First Class by ivolt: 1:38pm On Aug 17, 2017 |
Statsocial: Lalasticlala TheVictorious 15 out of 4,000 is very poor. Take those same students to imperial college London and 2,000 of those students would graduate with a first class. It is time Nigerian universities realise that it is an indictment on facilities, personnel and administration for a university to graduate a class with such poor performance.
An average UK university in UK would graduate 21% first class. The very good ones like Imperial or Oxford would graduate 41% and good Nigerian uni like Covenant(188/1,400), ABUAD(70/700), Landmark(60/400) are graduating about 10-16%.
Now all the Nigerian graduates from UK, US and credible Private Unis when added together would saturate the job market with high classed degrees making it impossible for graduates of pub unis to get jobs when in competition with them.
Let us face it, no body is going to deny the credibility of a first class degree from Imperial because the University produced over 750 first class out of 2,000. In summary my point is this No ranking would ever put Abia state uni over Babcock or Covenant because they produce lower first class degrees. So these public universities should stop hindering students deliberately.
The consequences of all this crap in public universities are immense but what is more ridiculous is people's acceptance of this problem. Many of these folks would apply to foreign top notch foreign schools and get dropped for having a lower cgpa than someone from Edwin Clark university who also wants the same spot.
Do not get me wrong. I am not saying First class degrees should just be dished out so that graduates from public universities can compete but that favorable conditions(facility, infrastructure, academic support &monitoring, pedagogical approach, problem based learning, protection of student rights, appropriate student to staff ratio, proper residency, electricity, water) in both foreign and excellent Nigerian private universities should be replicated in public institutions so that we can have a degree class that truly represents a student's knowledge, creativity and not ability to thrive despite stress. You are assuming that an average student in the Nigerian university is willing and able to cope with academic rigours in top universities. Oxford and Imperial colleges can graduate higher percentage of first class because they admitted top 1% brain from around the world, this is not the case for Nigeria universities. I am not denying the decaying infrastructures in our universities or the archaic mentality of some lecturers and administrators. My point is that any student who gained admission into Oxford or Imperial college is not an average Joe. |

Draxler: There's evidence. I posted it to you and you refused to accept it. And yes I understand you saying that most of the things they report on are true, but even conspiracy theorists have that kind of record. Where do we draw the line? Alex Jones is a conspiracy theorist with infowars and has a huge following despite his conspiracies, because they later on turn out to be true most of the time. But I can't cite Alex Jones to be a credible source, because even though most of his claims turn out to be true, a lot of them are baseless and untrue. Are we going to give Alex Jones the same treatment that we give CNN because most of his stories turn out to be true? You mentioned Fox News and yes they have retracted several stories even this year, but they haven't done it nearly as much as CNN. Fox News is still the most watched news station in America along with msnbc. They still have public trust. CNN is losing viewers as we speak. If a news station reports stories that are true even 81 per cent of the time, they are not trustworthy, because 1 in 5 of every news story they release is false. So if I'm listening to them today, I can't be confident that they are saying the truth. If CNN is now having the same news standard with Alex Jones, then CNN has fallen badly and their ratings show it. People want to trust you, and it's OK to make a mistake once in a while, but when you're doing it over and over again within the past six months, surely you can't blame people for losing trust in you. If you disagree that's fine, but I believe that people who don't trust CNN have good reasons not to. That's my opinion. If an article that stated that CNN fired 3 staffs for airing a false news is the evidence that CNN is fake news, then I have just wasted my time debating. I generally don't debate anyone who takes Trump's tweets as facts especially those made against his perceived oppoonents. CNN rating has not fallen, just because Trump said it doesn't mean he is right. Peace!

Draxler: I fully understand you. I understand left wing media bias, everyone is biased. I also understand that false reporting can be inevitable. Where I have a problem is when the false reporting is seemingly deliberate, and has happened again and again over a short period of time. How many stupid things have CNN done this year alone? Too many. MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CNN are all biased to the left, but CNN are the only one that have been blatantly lying over and over again this year. Would people continue to patronize you if they discover that you've been lying severally? CNNs reporting got out of hand, and they are the only left wing station that fully deserve the name "fake news" I don't agree, your conclusion isn't based on evidence. I am yet to see a data which compares CNN confirmed not rumored false news as a percentage of total news item with those of other media and found the difference to be significantly different. Please you can cite a source if you have such data. What I found is that an average joe can now make a firm statement that a news is fake just because of its source even if the news is quoting a tweet, I don't blame them because it is easier to stick to cliches instead of viewing a news item based on its own merit. I remember the Fox news of Obama years and how they retract stories after being shown to be false, even this year. Will I then conclude that fox news name should be fake news, of course not, because that will be a naive conclusion on my part. Conclusions should be based on evidence and comparisons, not cliches. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama's Tweet On Charlottesville Becomes Most Popular Tweet Ever(Pic) by ivolt: 12:17pm On Aug 17, 2017 |
Draxler: Just because everyone is doing it doesn't make it okay. So many have reported falsely, from Fox News to msnbc. However, CNN has done it too many times in a short period for people to ignore. Are you saying we should give them a free pass because everyone has done something bad before? You don't understand. It is okay when you say someone did something wrong but it becomes a travesty when you substitute "wrong" for that person, "oh that guy is terrible, he once did this", especially when those you prefer are even worse. The first post I quoted stated that "god will save Trump from CNN" even though the news came from twitter not CNN, this implies that the author thinks every negative news about Trump is plain wrong and CNN is the source of all such news. This isn't calling out CNN for airing a particular false news(this is a twitter quote from Obama not CNN), this is implying that CNN news are not credible because they have been caught lying. If we are to apply the same standard to all news media, then no news source is credible. I hope you understand the differences. When someone makes a pass on CNN on a thread which quotes Obama'stweets, then can only be a product of poor reasoning or wilful dishonesty or both. |

Draxler: CNN have been guilty of false reporting this year and their ratings have been going down because of it. There are so many instances of this. Just do your research and you'll see. Name one media house anywhere in the world that have never been guilty of false reporting, A liar isn't someone who tells a liar, a liar is someone who tells lie majority of the time, same thing applies to an honest person being someone whose statements are honest majorityof the time, not just once or twice. Some people seem to think that admitting a mistake makes the organisation the worst offender while those who deny making mistake even in the face of glaring are seen as honest ? You are repeating what some ill-informed folks do, what ratings are you talking about ? Can you please break it down and cite your sources ? You objectively compare ratings by doing this Year vs Previous Year or this Month vs same month in previous years, then you now check if the changes are positive or negative overall when previous year changes are examined and if those changes are unusual. |

shachris02: The left media is not been nice to Trump at all.
What happened in Charlottesvile should be condemned by every reasonable person but you should put the blame squarely on everyone involved.
People got a PERMIT to protest against a statue that they see is expressive of their history and Antsafi and the other left wing terrorists with no permit came to cause trouble.
If you watch the video, you will see them masked with their batons and stuff.
The man that killed the lady had not been proven to be a white supremacist. The left are just conjuring stories to hurt Trump who spoke the truth. The blame should be on both sides Given an average African's worship of power, it is nearly impossible for some to understand that something can be wrong on its own merit. It is no wonder that millions were bought as slaves and millions were still being treated as slaves by their own leaders without protest. |
